hard puzzle...........46 words for 420

1:06 am

I've only done the D so far ... Found 13x D's including D4/6/8 sequence

I have the same sequence, which makes me feel better about my dismal score yesterday.

1:20 am

well a lot of the yesterday's words were weird. *pictures runningfor home nodding and saying "that is iwis the case!" * All today's D words are much more common.

1:23 am

and yet, i'm only so far seeing 9 of them.

1:31 am

Let's make the letter D BabbleStreet's letter of the day: D4/5 relating to handling, distributing. D4 consider D4 insect repellent D5 defer D6 relating to river mouth geological feature D4 shop D6 misdemeanour D4/6/8 related to removal D4/5 relating to something owed That's 13 D's Of course there may be more than 13 D's ...

1:55 am

Well, that helped. I'll go to sleep with my 50 words for 550.

2:17 am

Well, 'hotmale' should totally be accepted....

5:12 am

55 for 614; only 7/6s and one 8, so far, but it's past 3am, in Los Angeles, so g'night.

7:03 am

OOh, joy - I woke up, and found another word, worth a whopping six points! yay for me!! So far, nothing beginning with I, or U, or Y - but the day is young.

7:08 am

I've found 4x Y's You'll be abominably upset with yourself if you don't get at least one of them Christine ;)

7:19 am

Goodmorning, Shortseer - is it early where you are... it's going to be another scorcher in L.A...but that's fine with me, it's the reason I'm here, not in London. I do have the one Y-word, (hadn't noted it on my breakdown sheet..), perhaps I'll find the others after a shower and a cuppa.

7:25 am

10:30 at night here. I've been coming back here intermittently tonight hoping to find some stats. (while you had your 2-hour's sleep for the night, seemingly)

7:28 am

How many words have you got Shortseer? I'll post my stats up, but I've only got 75 words and you've probably got more LOL

7:30 am

Are you in NZ or Oz? I'm retired, so if I feel drowsy during the day, I can nap.... generally, if I get on the board, I too keep coming back, and don't get anything eles done...I've almost quit reading and sewing, since I discoveed Babble... obsession or addiction, indeed.

7:30 am

104 words. Still got a couple more starting letters to checkout, but i'm not expecting many more (if any) from them

7:33 am

104 argghhhhh

7:33 am

australia (sydney) I only allow myself to babble once a week (on the weekend) ... but i'm home sick with the flu ... so i'm treating myself to some extra babble sessions. Something good from something bad! :D

7:46 am

Be well soon. Still only 62/658.I need to spend today typing up reponses to interrogatories, to sear the tail of the Evil Dentist, and spend time at Staples, copying various Proofs and Responses,so I probably won't Babble until the end of the day. On the up-side, I'm getting a mini class on legal terms (my lawyer explains the term, each time he gives me something to work on). In fact, I found a D6 in the grid, them juggled the letters and found another, because of something he told me... all this, and maybe a cash settlement.

8:19 am

There are 124 words in the grid. For 123 of them I can give stats: 3x8 5x7 19x6 32x5 64x4 4xA 16xB 1xC 13xD 6xE 2xH 6xI 8xL 23xM 3xN 5xO 6xP 25xT 1xU 4xY

9:00 am

yay ... stats! but but but i'm still missing 11 words!

9:08 am

I'm still missing 49. Uggh! Got any point values for the big words? I have an 8-45, a 7-28 and 6s 33,21,27,27,24,27,33,24,24,24,21

9:13 am

I just started, but I have a 6/24 I bet you don't, right after the 33.

9:15 am

I'm missing a B, I, L, 3x M, 4x T (plus the one unknown) Just sorting out some details for the bigger words. I seem to be missing a lot of bigger words this time :(

9:18 am

me too. I have about half the words now, but less than a quarter of the big ones.

9:20 am

parsec - Would that 6/24 likely go after my first 6/33 or after my second one?

9:21 am

D8 removal ?8 .....? ?8 .....? A7 relating to white feldspar C7 intercourse E7 chemical extraction method ?7 .....? ?7 .....?

9:25 am

Sorry, the 6/24 would be after the first 33. Mine start 33-24-21-27-24.

9:30 am

Yay, got it! :-D I must have had a mental block on that area of the grid that you've helped clear up, because I just found about 8 words all at once. :)

9:33 am

glad I could help out =)

9:37 am

B6 noisy uproar B6 insect D6 remove D6 misdemeanour D6 mouth of river E6 to draw out/provoke E6 drug from ipecac E6 small hole in material L6 carotenoid pigment L6 related to an endocrine gland in the body M6 corn M6 suitably/properly M6 woolen material (named after the place it came from) O6 choice O6 relating to body part T6 a way of walking or standing ?6 .....? ?6 .....?

Thank you shortseer, got all the words you hinted - even if I don't know what they mean... Hope you get better soon! -Sini

Ooh, more hints! Going hunting... -S

9:41 am

shortseer - Although I'm missing several you posted, I may also be able to help you. I think from your definitions that you may be missing an L6 and a T6. The L6 may be an adverb used to describe a person with a limp. The T6 may refer to the cover of a book.

9:52 am

thanks jlm ... i'll go hunting again. and thanks sini

9:54 am

OMG! That T6 for standing/walking I've been trying to see it in there all morning and just couldn't! I finally just typed it in, and it took it. It took a minute for me to finally see where it fit in the puzzle though. :-p

9:55 am

Oh, and shortseer - You have listed 16 6-letter words and 2 blanks, but there are 19 of them total. Still one more that no one has hinted about . . .

10:05 am

sorry ... left one off the list. I6 to bury Got the L6 from your hint .. i should have had that! ... i had the related L4. Ditto for the T6 (i had the related T5 I have 19 6's now.

10:16 am

I7/8 sequence - related to giving a name I now have 7x i's rather than the 6 in jlm's breakdown ... so that's where the extra word is hiding

11:33 am

weird 'cause I have six Is and 4 Ns and figured that was were it was....

12:13 pm

Does anyone know where the online solvers are? Yesterday I wanted to see what words I was missing and I tried a google search to no avail. Any help.....jlm..mi?

12:50 pm

If you search for "boggle solver" you should find at least 2 online solvers. The boggle/tangleword solver uses the same dictionary as babble. And I just realized I've made a mistake! There are 7xi in the solution I have, but still only 3xN, so that must be the extra word. Also, there are only 24xT. I mistakenly counted one of the i words as a T word. Mea culpa!

1:02 pm

This is the toughest grid I have seen in quite some time. An awful lot of the words are super-obscure. I have tried almost everything in search of the L6 pigment. Can anyone tell me how many points it is, at least?

1:04 pm

It is 18 points, and it is quite similar to the gland one.

1:04 pm

I have 4 N words .

pitot is too a word; small inlet on an aircraft to assist in determing airspeed

1:11 pm

Bleh, I should have tried that, I had thought the 6 clues were in alphabetical order. Thanks jlm.

1:11 pm

Karin - Yep, it must be that the 4th N is the missing word in the solution. stevedallas - Indeed, it should accept pitot!!!! I guess maybe it's considered a proper noun since it was named after Monsieur Pitot?

1:12 pm

36 words after an hour of playing - what a grid; kudos to all of you who can see anything today!!

1:18 pm

Back again .. Soooo i've been hunting a T that doesn't exist! But then i've also been hunting for an M that apparently dosesn't want to exist I think it must be an M4 or M5 I've got : 12x M4 5x M5 3x M6 1x M7 1x M8 Has anyone got an extra M ???

1:53 pm

shortseer - Sorry about the T confusion! (and potentially making you look for another N) I also have the same number of 4,5,6 letter M words you have, but have not yet found the 7 and 8. I'm not seeing any other 4s or 5s either, there, but will keep looking!

2:00 pm

That L6 is related to an endocrine gland? This is the biologist in me coming out now LOL, I never knew it related to something endocrine-y. Well you learn something new everyday!

2:09 pm

After finding all 4 N words I looked at the solver results for N. The word it is missing is 4 letters, so make the final word count 65x4.

2:12 pm

squeeeee got the M8 :)

just found the M 8 also!! wheeee

2:39 pm

Me too. Shouldn't that be hyphenated????

2:40 pm

Any hints for the M7? I had hoped it would be related to the 8, but guess not.

I pretended teh little 1 on the bottom of the I as the hyphen

2:46 pm

LOL! Di d you get any points for the hyphen?

8 for 68! including the hyphen

just kidding before anyone gets really excited

3:08 pm

It is impressive math though!

actually it was 8.25

3:19 pm

for the m/7, think cell division. Then be psychic and tell me where my last missing m/5 is. =)

3:23 pm

For M5s I still only have 5 of them, but they are: a hydroxy acid lyric/tuneful brawl donkey-like small DNA unit Are yours the same?

3:33 pm

I keep seeing pitocin, but that's just 'cuz I have babies on the brain ;-)

3:40 pm

@jml those are the 5 M5's i've got (and that "donkey-like" actually means hornless) Still missing 1x M Must be M4 if there are 65 4's

3:41 pm

Yep, I'm also missing an M4. And 2 B4s and a T4. Sigh . . . So close!

3:44 pm

I was missing the brawl--kept trying to spell it in the wrong place, so I'd never tried it. did you get the animal sound m/4?

3:46 pm

and there should only be 23 Ms, right? or did I miss a retraction?

3:47 pm

Yes, there are 23 Ms. Just got the animal sound. Thanks!

3:48 pm

AHA! That's what i was missing

3:51 pm

can any give a clue for M8

3:54 pm

I haven't been on long, and feel soooo far behind everyone else, and I'm not even understanding half the clues.

3:56 pm

M8 ... looks like it means more than one weight

4:02 pm

3x BE4 1x Bi4 4x BL4

4:04 pm

Turns out I had miscounted, and I'm actually missing 1x4 and 1x5 for the Bs. Looks like a BL, so I'll start there! For 5s I have 3xBE and 2xBL. You?

4:07 pm

still cant get the M8

4:10 pm

3x Be5 1x Bi5 2x BL5 7x TE4 1x TH4 4x Ti4 3x TO4 1x TU4

4:10 pm

Found the Bi-5 I was missing for a grand total of 124/1660.

4:15 pm

M8 ... First section of the M8 is a shortened form of a word meaning "Having, relating to, or consisting of more than one individual, element, part, or other component"

4:16 pm

I'm missing a T/5. I have 2xTE, 2xTI, and a TO.

4:19 pm

Thanks to al the help that M4 animal sound completed the list for me. :D

4:21 pm

2x TE5 3x Ti5 1x TO5 I'm off now Byeeee

4:23 pm

thanks!

4:33 pm

I keep seeing topic, tonic and point!

4:54 pm

can anyone give the point value on the m/8 word? I'm still having trouble finding it.

5:10 pm

50

5:15 pm

Thank you :) I finally found it. Oh happy Rabbit dance

I found the 8 but the seven is elusive... any hints?

m-7, I mean

6:00 pm

There's one earlier... has to do with cell division.

Ah, found it. Thank you.

6:57 pm

the only word I know for cell division is mitosis and it does not fit here :(

7:10 pm

You are very close periwinkle...

7:13 pm

not close enough, I can't find it. I am guessing it starts ME.

7:15 pm

I have one left for six different letters. Augh!!!!

7:15 pm

yes!

7:16 pm

found the 7/M, thanks dimwit for the encouragement

7:21 pm

Glad to help :)

Are all the n-words four letters?

7:29 pm

I have only 3 n words and one of them is a 5.

7:35 pm

I have 3 n's all 4 letters

8:38 pm

I have the 7 that starts with M. What do the other two start with please?

8:39 pm

I know one of the 8's starts with M. Can't find it. What letters do the other two 8's start with, please.

8:47 pm

D & M

8:49 pm

Thanks ZoeyMO, I will look for a little while longer.

8:49 pm

Got the 8/D . Thanks ZoeyMO.

9:32 pm

Anybody around to help? I still need one M and one E that are driving me crazy.

9:41 pm

I only have two "e's" and they are both 6's

I have 3 e-6s and an e-4, and I know there's an e-7 kicking around somewhere.

10:06 pm

There is an e-5. I feel like I've tried every combo for the e-4 but no luck.

Think of trees, fnurt... any hints on the e-5?

10:29 pm

Put an e in front of a 4-4 you probably have.

10:30 pm

Thanks for the e-clue, btw. My girlfriend just looked at the word and said, "That's really dumb."
