Woot, a voluptous 8 for 65.
Uh, that'd be voluptuous... I apparently lose typing abilities when it's late.
so what does it start with? i have a couple of 7's
9 for 90.
woah. and a related 10 for 91.
Thanks, Q - I can't believe those are words!
Hmmm, one 8/60, so far, but the words are coming faster than the browser can handle them... the night is young, and we'll all have a lovely time.
me either!
Another 8 for 60.
How is it you all see these super long words? I have 50 words, and my best is a 6 for 39. I have improved since I started playing. Used to be I couldn't see past the 4 and 5 ltr words.
I'm not that good at it, but I generally look for likely prefixes and suffixes.
I go to bed, and wait for people to post useful clues ;)
yes, it's all about the prefixes and suffixes. and sometimes the dipthongs.
Thanks for the hints. That's all stuff I do already. So at least I know I'm heading in the right direction in my words search techniques.
248 words, it looks like.
Its late and I need to head home. Here's my breakdown for so far (with the 6 for 39 still being my best): 84 for 1024 c x 8 d x 10 h x 10 i x 1 l x 3 m x 7 p x 6 qu x 3 r x 6 s x 12 t x 10 u x 1 w x 7 'Nite all, mom, mark, apryl...:)
what was that E7 yesterday? did it begin 'edit..' ?
No, apparently it was 'epeeist', which I presume is some kind of record collector, and I wouldn't have got that if it was written on my knuckles.
wouldn't that be someone who uses an epee??? *looks blank*
Since I couldn't add anything to 'edit/s', I tried combos using 'epist'... and got nowhere, very fast. But, we learn something, almost every day.... 'epeeist', huh? So far, today, I have 133 words for 2102 points; I need to find the 9 and the 10... onward, ever onward.
what does the 9 fo r90 and the 10 for 91 start with.
what does the 8 for 60 and the 8 for 65 start with
7 for 64
C8/65 and S8/60.
d 8/60
thanks i am looking
got the 8 for 65. onward
can't find the S 8/60!! Arrgh...
got the 8 for 60. thanks Christine
it starts with the s in the first column
There's a D8/60....oh, pooh!!
Thanks King Henrik got the 8 for 60 D
pleasure :) still stuck with that S word :(
Will someone give us the start letters for the 9 and 10 letter words.... please, oh please.
it is very flavorful. king henrik
Marigold-Dear .... a teeny, tiny, small, little, itsy-bitsy clue for the D8/60?????
it is a suffix to a word you already have. 4 and 6
use the d in the middle
Thank you M-D... as soon as I sent the message, I found the 8 and the 7..... but still the 9 and 10.
i got the 10 for 91 YEA!
The 10 for 91 is a bug or insect with a suffix
OMGosh, I got the nine and the ten... but who would think of such a thing? Thanks for the clue, Marigold, because I surely would not've thought of that!
It doesn't think spidered is a word. Babble, let me introduce you to Google...
Well, places to go, people to see things to do.... I think I'll take the grid with me, for the in-between times... who knows, perhaps I can find the last 100 words, if the doctors don't insist I pay attention to them (leave me alone, I'm babbling).
Oh dear... thanks Marigold for the clue. Can't believe i missed that one!
So far so good. Got the 8/65, the 9/90, and the 10/91. Definitely have more work to do though. TTFN
I now have half the available words, so i'm doing better than usual! Hard to believe there are still over a hundred words left. Got the 9/90 and 10/91 - they certainly help with the score.
It would be helpful if we could have an update of what the word counts are. I'll start; 131 / 2196 1 x 10 letters 1 x 9 letters 3 x 8 letters 6 x 7 letters 20 x 6 letters A - 1 C - 9 D - 20 E - 1 H - 17 I - 3 L - 3 M - 7 N - 1 P - 7 Q - 3 R - 17 S - 19 T - 12 W - 11
I'm particularly bad at finding words that start with a vowel :( After a lot of hard work i've now got 5 x E words. Still only one A word. I think i should grab some coffee and come back in a while. Bye bye Babble (i love you)
There must be so many words today! I am at 142/4.78/2052; I'll only list the letters I have more of than King Henrik. I have 1x10 1x8 (the s) 4x7 22x6 2xA 12xC 18xH 4xL 9xM 21xS 16xT 1xU Plus, of course, I am missing most of the biggies.
RFH posted that there are 248 words. When I ran the solver it said 246, and I have starting letters/lengths for 245 of them. No idea yet what the missing word is. 6x8 16x7 50x6 79x5 94x4 3xA 16xC 37xD 11xE 32xH 7xi 5xL 13xM 1xN 10xP 5xQ 26xR 42xS 20xT
Whoops, hit post too soon by accident. 4xU 13xW I have 8s: 65,60,91(10),90(9),60 7s: 44,40,28,64,48,44
yuch, an arachnoid!!! that aside, fun so far.
This is what I have so far: 181 words 5.03 3200 3xA 10xC 27xD 10xE 23xH 6xi ('eye:) 5xL 7xM 6xP 5xQ 16xR 30xS 16xT 4xU 13xW 1x10 1x9 5x8 12x7 Don't know how many more there are, but I'll be back later to try for more.
Well, claws' post tells me that the mystery word is 8 letters or longer. Don't know which, though, but I'd guess it's one of the bizarre S words.
jlm, you might try looking for a 7/8 combo starting with D. I don't know about the mystery word however.
marigold, do you have the 9/90 yet. If so what does it start with please?
I have the 4/6/7/8 combo starting with D and a 6/7 combo starting with D. Is there another 7/8 combo besides the 4/6/7/8 one? I found the 7/8/ combo starting with E after my last post.
That's the one. I also have 2 other 7's starting with D.
Yep, I just found another D7 to give me 3 total.
I found a 7/44 starting with E but I am at a loss to find any 8 relating to it.
My E7 is for 36 points.
OK, found the E/7/44. I now have: 8s: 65,60,50,91(10),90(9),60 7s: 36,40,44,44,36,40,28,64,48,44
There is a spectacular 7/44 that comes before the start of your list.
jlm, does your solver clump all 8-letter and 8+ letter words together?
I have a 8-60 that comes before the 10. Are we talking about two different 60s, or did you make a mistake in transcribing your list?
Krys - Yep, anything 8 letters or longer is put together in one count. But claws' list below has 1x9, 1x10 and 5x8 so I think that's the total count there. fnurt - I have my words out of order on my list of 8s. It should read 65,60,50,60,91(10),90(9)
Darn, I was hoping we had found the mystery word.
Oh, and a note for fit1 if you're playing today. Yesterday you asked about solvers. The other solver I use is one that is called a "boggle/wordrace" solver. It gives a list of words for each length, but it doesn't use the enable dictionary. At the bottom of each list it also gives a count. So, here's what I do: I take my glasses off, or if I'm wearing my contacts I squint to make the screen blurry. Then I solve for each length using the boggle/wordrace solver and look only at the count at the bottom. After I solve for all words 4 letters or longer I copy and paste that list into a file on my computer. I have a little script I wrote that can strip out the first letter of each word and I can use that to get the number of words per starting letter. Finally, I go to the boggle/tangleword solver and put in the same grid. Still squinting or without glasses I cound the words there, but I can't make them out to see what they are. There are 10 words per line in that output, so I can count the number of full lines, then the number of words on the last line. If it is more than the other solver gave, we have mystery words, like today.
fnurt - The mystery word that I mentioned - I meant that there is one word that I don't know the length or starting letter for from the solver. But, the solver said there were only 6 words of 8 letters or longer, and claws found 7, so one of those is the mystery word. We just don't know the starting letter of it, but I'm guessing it's one of those crazy S words. Just a guess though. But yeah, there is still one 8 that no one has posted a starting letter or points for. Hopefully someone will soon!
any clue for the 10 word
There were some clues (including points, starting letter and a hint) for the 9 and 10 earlier this morning.
haha Jim_mi. I read what you do. Ya know what? I'm gonna let you keep doing it. LOL
I am not on my A game today or something. I can only find 1 of the 4 U's and I still need 60 words overall or something.
It took me all morning to find the 3 U words I was missing. They basically all have the same root, and start with the same two letters. There's a 4, a 5, and a 6/7 combo for 21/32.
There's an English swear word that shows up quite frequently in these puzzles, and we can't quite make it today. But did anyone find it in French? Babble will take it! LOL!
That is a great 7/44 to find! Thanks fnurt. :)
And, though I'm talking way too much here, a 7/32 right after the 7/64 on my list.
Oh glad you said that, i had tried it earlier but missed off the 'E'!
I cannot find in the log where it saids the starting letter for the 9 for 90 is. Could someone please tell me where it is.
It begins with 's', Marigold, and it's related to the 10 for 91.
It starts with S. The clue I thought went to that didn't, but the clue at 8:07am does go to both the 9 and the 10.
Doh, that was YOUR clue at 8:07. Hee hee!
I have the 10 for 91. I will keep looking. Thanks
I got it. Thanks. setting sun
Can anyone help with As, Ms or Ps? I have As: 6, 5 Ms: 5,6,5,4,4,5,4,5,4,4,5 Ps: 4,4,4,4,4,6,5,4
I found the missing Ps. They are a 6 and a 7 at the end of my list of Ps.
there is an a/4 biology word that sounds a lot like a computer language (i think it's a language, anyway...) It's before the 5, assuming your 5 is the same. Can't help you at all with the M's.
I've just been looking at Ms Jlm_mi and I have a 5 before your first 4 and 4x4s after that. But I only have 12 so we obviously have different words from each other - I think that implied at least 13 Ms in total :o)
It's not exactly a language, but I don't know how to describe what it is. In any event, it helped me find the word, so thank you very much!
I have 1x4 A
Thanks Kirsty1 - I found one more 4 letter M word this way, so I'll keep looking for another one. There are 13 total M words.
There`s An M 5 which ends with to vowels
I didn't know that was a word, but there weren't too many combos ending with two vowels! :)
I was just messing around & got it.I would like to know what it means ?
dictionary.com has the definition if you click the ?. It means the middle finger. :)
Amazing the English language . You learn something every day .Thanks .
Has anybody found the last 8 letter word or the last 2 7s and can fill them in here? 8-65 more voluptuous 7-44 murder of a god 7-36 wanted 7-40 most dangerous 7-44 more gossipy 8-60 most gossipy 7-44 unloads 7-36 recluse 8-50 recluses 7-40 quicker 7-28 meaner 7-64 brunch food (plural) 7-36 medicinal infusions 7-32 remainder 7-48 wealthiest 7-44 more flavorful 8-60 most flavorful 10-91 most like an arachnid 9-90 arachnid-like 7-32 any derivative of a particular waste product of the body
I have : c/8 ,d/8 , e/8 , h/8 , s/8 & s/9 ,s/10
I don't have the H8.
Could you give away the starting letter of 'more voluptuous' clue? i've been searching for aaaages...
Starts with the h 4/11 -6/39 .... narcotic
Yay, thanks Karin! I didn't have the 6 of that word either. Britneysdead - C.
thanks...now i can't get the 6 of that word! you are so quick jlm
There`s an odd T /5 with the same two vowels , but not at the end.
Thanks karin once again. Odd word indeed! If anyone knows what 2 T words I'm missing, it would be much appreciated!!! I have: 2xTE4 2xTE5 2xTE6 4xTi4 3xTi5 1xTi6 1xTR4 2xTR5 1xTU4
The H8 is not defined in the dictionary. It is realated to a 4 for 11 and a 6 for 39. ALl I can tell you is that some people like to smoke something related to it and it makes them giggle alot when they do!
You are missing a fairly straightforward TR5. I don't know about the other one.
Thanks fnurt. Found that TR5.
cant get the flavorful clues
I have 24 Hs - which may be were the missing word is.
Wendrie - There are 32 Hs.
Treble99 - Think Indian or Mexican food.
ah ha thanks! So in other words, I shouldn't move up to the Es but carry on looking for Hs..... ah well....
Thanks jlm_mi got them
Is there an E8
I can confirm that the S/9/90 is the missing word, so there are 7 words in the 8+ category and 43 S words.
Treble99 - Yes, I hinted at it below where I listed all the big words I had gotten so far.
But, not by starting letter. You'll need to fit it into that list, which is alphabetical. :)
cant get the gossipy clues either
See the clues starting at 7:51am
I am missing words beginning with D, H, R and S still. If anyone can help, I have all the other words and am happy to fill in blanks for them. I have: D: 9x4, 8x5, 9x6, 4x7, 1x8 H: 14x4, 7x5, 2x6, 1x7, 1x8 R: 7x4, 4x5, 7x6, 2x7 S: 10x4, 18x5, 4x6, 2x7, 1x8, 1x9, 1x10
I have 9x5 H words
what letter does the 8/65 meaning voluptuous start with, please?
the only words I know for medicinal infusion are tisane and tincture and they don't fit here. :(
jlm, I have 10xD4, 15xH4, 4xH6. You seem to have found a new S-7. Can you give a point value or other hint?
periwinkle... it starts with C.
The voluptuous word does (start with C) sorry, I could have been a bit clearer.
Fishbulb, thanks. I know what voluptuous means but I can't find it here. Will keep trying.
What is the starting letter for the gossipy words, please.
Peri, think of dolly parton.
granadan, Thanks, I got it. Not a word I would have thought of.
I'm still stuck on the gossipy ones :(
The gossipy word works from a slang word for gossip, particular gossip in the verb form. The new S7 I found doesn't have a definition, but it's a strange word. It's 40 points and appears to be the past tense of a verb. It's a suffix on a 5/S/14. I found it by taking a 5/S/16 and attempting a strange word that would be the person who does such thing. Then, I took that person and added a suffix. I don't know why I decided to try it. Desperation I guess. I was shocked when it accepted it.
The 'gossipy' 7 and 8 letter words are part of a 4, 6, 7, 8 run that is based on a 4 for 8.
periwinkle - spell one of your medical infusions differently.
jlm_mi, I hate when there are alternative spellings. I am trying everything and cannot get the medicinal infusion. Will keep trying thoug.
last word should have been though
jlm_mi. Did you get all the D`s in the end .I took a break sorry.
I'm still missing 6xD, though I know one of them is 4 letters long. I'll do it by second letter now: 9xDE 13xDi 4xDR 5xDU
peri - click on one of the definitions, then search under tisane - it will come up with alternative spellings too.
OK, Just found a Dix4 that I should never have missed.
jlm_mi. your missing 1xDe ,1XDi , 2xDR &1xDu .
perwinkle ..... you have mail
Thanks Karin. :)
Perhaps this might help : DE`s 2x7, 5x6 ,2x5, 1x4 . DI`s 1x8 , 2x7 , 3x6 , 2x5 , 7x4 . DR`s 2x6 , 3x5 , 1x4. DU`s 1x6 , 3x5 , 2x4.
Karin - You posted that JUST as I typed in the last D. But I know it will help someone!
Karin, do you have all the 7s?
I've got the 10/91 but can't get the 9/90
It's a different suffix. Work out what the points have to add up to and it should help.
jlm_mi - thank you for your clue-list... I was sure there must be at least one word using the last four letters of the 'god' word... and I learned a new word for 'tisane', but oh boy! the last clue on the list I presume links to the English word for the French word already used.... I am the Queen of the run-on sentences..
Christine - It doesn't go with that word. Those are in alphabetical order if it helps. And it's a different bodily waste product. ;)
I found the last 7, so I think the entire list of big words is: 8-65 more voluptuous 7-44 murder of a god 7-36 wanted 7-40 most dangerous 7-44 more gossipy 8-60 most gossipy 7-44 unloads 7-36 recluse 8-50 recluses 7-40 quicker 8-65 most like a particular drug 7-36 small horse-drawn carriage 7-28 meaner 7-64 brunch food (plural) 7-36 medicinal infusions 7-32 remainder 7-48 wealthiest 7-44 more flavorful 8-60 most flavorful 10-91 most like an arachnid 9-90 arachnid-like 7-40 no definition, but a well-known 5-letter word for 16 points (beginning with S) got me here 7-32 any derivative of a particular waste product of the body
Thanks jlm_mi. Using the wrong side of the grid again. I need to learn to travel more!
jlm_mi. Your missing an h 7/52
Yikes. I have the H/7/52 but copied the points from the 6 in front of it. The list should read: 8-65 more voluptuous 7-44 murder of a god 7-36 wanted 7-40 most dangerous 7-44 more gossipy 8-60 most gossipy 7-44 unloads 7-36 recluse 8-50 recluses 7-40 quicker 8-65 most like a particular drug 7-52 small horse-drawn carriage 7-28 meaner 7-64 brunch food (plural) 7-36 medicinal infusions 7-32 remainder 7-48 wealthiest 7-44 more flavorful 8-60 most flavorful 10-91 most like an arachnid 9-90 arachnid-like 7-40 no definition, but a well-known 5-letter word for 16 points (beginning with S) got me here 7-32 any derivative of a particular waste product of the body
jlm_mi . I think its GREAT how you help us all.I know I wouldn`t do as well without your help thanks
Karin - I'm happy to help. I get so much help from everyone else, that it feels like a fair trade. :-D
Wish I had more time on this one. This is the best I've managed since I started playing, but I need my beauty sleep.
A small carriage - I know 'hackney' (name of my district of London) and hansom, but...?
As I hit 'send' I ralized I had the first par of the word... and now I have another 7.
Dang - my poor little browser can't spell 'part' - but you guessed, right?
Anyone have an updated list of starting letters?
marigold, are you still here? You have mail.
periwinkle - There's no updated list needed. I posted a complete list earlier.
jlm_mi, Right you are. The log is long and I did not read all of it before I posted.
i'm done for today, this is my first game in like a year, i got 32/4.66/415
