morning all
Hi Sprite!
*hugs Kam* Good evening to you, how are you doing?
Hangin' in there, how are you?
I am okay, thanks
bit tired, been awake since 1 am.
Rained all day here. We need it, but DH was up on roof plugging some pipes that had covers blown off...poor guy - I didn't know there was a problem. Wish he hadn't waited till it was actually raining to go on roof! He did it, and didn't slip, whew!
glad he made it back to the ground again without problems. Scary, isn't it?
What time is it there for you now? Awake since 1 isn't a good thing in any time zone...I don't go to bed till about 1 or 2AM
it is just after 8 am here
good morning Sprite - just home from bridge
good evening flosey *hugs* I hope you had a nice game
Oh, you must be tired. brb, have to run an errand for dh...he just got home from taking grandson to see Star Wars. He thought it was barely ok...
it was a fun time, havent checked the scores yet
lovely that he could go with his grandson though
as long as you had fun, who cares what the scores are ;)
for sure, always enjoy the game, belong to 3 groups - 2 evening games and one is Saturday afternoon
must be a really great hobby, keeping you in touch with others, keeping the memory sharp, and having fun together
it is, I didn't grow up with cards - wasn't until I met hubby - he even got my Mother playing - solitaire was a handy one for her
my husband does not like playing games, alas
too bad, can be quite relaxing
indeed. Well, who knows, maybe I can get him to like them later on in life, after his retirement :)
yes, when one slows down a bit!!
exactly. We are considering selling our house and going to live in a caravan for a couple of years. Back to a basic style of life. Playing a few card games in the evening very much fits the bill :)
for sure!
Finished errand/chores. A few things got overlooked because he was excited about going to the movie with his grandson!
hehehe bless his heart.
and welcome back, Kam!
We have friends who sold house and got RV to tour the US...now they're parked at her mom's place, wishing they had a real house...you may wish to consider renting/leasing your place instead of selling so you have a place to return to if you run out of 'wanderlust.'
He loves that boy! Lucky kid.
yeah we have considered that too. But we want to simplify our lives. Renting our place is not making things simpler.
That would be a very hard decision for us...we're passing the point where we can keep on keepin' on...home is necessary
we are happiest when out camping. I think it will do us a world of good to live a simple life for a while. And from there out we will decide what we need and where to go find it
sidenote: I thought 'freon' was a gas, like neon?
it is, just isn't in enable...this dictionary will eventually corrupt all of us!
Freon is a registered trademark, so enable unenables it.
down to 45 words and I do believe I hear my pillow is calling, good night all, bb in the morning to finish up
*grins* So true. When playing other wordgames, I am often reminded of this. Lots of words I try are not valid anymore. All obsolete and only valid in this crazy enable wordlist
ah, I see, thanks ARB, and hi :)
sleep well, flosey, and *hugs*
shalom -- and may there be shalom!
from your mouth, ARB... Trump and his crazy decisions make me sick and scared.
ah, trademarks...but I guess some old ones expired, so can be in enable? Some words aren't even in current dictionaries.
I look with disgust at two governments -- the USA and ISrael.
amen to that. I wish governments would do less politicking and more governing.
Oh Sprite, you're lucky you don't live in the US...what a mess. I really dont like living here right now.
as in all, Kam, enable is erratic and random in deciding which names are no longer brand names
I won't say that the Netherlands are heaven on earth. But I am indeed glad I am not living in the US or in Israel atm... and whatever will happen there, it will affect all of the world
Um, California can do less governing and taxing...this state has basically broken from US policy on many things, and now people are trying to turn it into two or three new states instead. Doubt that will happen, but it's a crazy place.
sounds very unpleasant :(
True...affect the world. Frightening. I think I'll just NOT think about it right now, things I have read today have me quite concerned. DH and I are seriously discussing Canada, but I don't even have a passport...never needed one before, now they're harder than ever to obtain.
why are they hard to obtain??
Wait, isn't this a politics free zone? We'd best shut up, lol!
:)
Oh, they want all sorts of documentation besides current ID and birth certificates - like marriage/divorce proof and I don't know what else, plus the wait time is long.
I'd say, go for it and get one now. At least you will have the choice to leave for Canada if you want to, or if things get too crazy.
I have the forms, just have to get all the other paperwork located...again. Thought I was done with the old divorce...
so frustrating. But worth it, maybe
I honestly hope things here don't get any crazier! We have elections this year, maybe new faces and fresh thinking will appear and create good change? I know, I'm dreaming.
*says a silent prayer for a bit of common sense in the brains of politicians worldwide*
I have to get the passport, period. DH has to renew his soon too. He almost didn't get out of Scotland last time he went because his papers fell apart, lol! You know how some guys will just stuff things in their pockets and not pay attention...
YES!! Common sense!!
:D
oh ikr? Everything in that back pocket and not caring that they sit on it too
<<giggle>>
fi4flies. Good grid today.
*hugs Kam* sleep well and have a lovely day tomorrow. ARB, shalom and pace et bene.
Yay Sprite! I have 25 left, but am watching TV too...scattered brains tonight. Have a lovely day!
e
First run through and have 36 left.
I have one of the FO 8s But I see from the chat log there are two fo 8s are they both compound words starting the same?
no zoom... its a 'doer' of a fo6
Ah okay, Rolin. Thank you.
Ah got it! I had the FO 6 just needed to extend it. Many thanks :-)
My phantom for today is Fi 9 compound word of tubes used to put out flames.
My time is up for now. Will come back later to see if I can find some more words. Happy babbling everyone! And thanks again, Roilin :-)
Good morning all.
Good morning Sukee
Hi Ruby.
l found 106 words earlier, but that may be it
Not bad.
l don't list but often glean a few words from the chat
but l think l've finished maybe 5 times in all the years l've been playing
Most people don't finish without help (list, clues, morewords, etc). Ruby you actually play as directed "find as many words as YOU can find"
Yep, I used to be desperate to finish but now it doesn't matter as long as I try my best :)
The few times l've finished, it was Molly who helped me at the end
And I just got to 101. Breakfast time.
The best moment is when l first open the site
It used to be better before anybody monopçlized the morning chog
Is it less cold there, Molly? My poor sister hasn't left her house (in NY) for a long time
When l lived in upstate NY, it was sometimes unpleasant, but l was much younger
it's warmer here ... almost above freezing ... so they should be able to go out in Philly and New York ... except for the rain
At least the rain will remove some snow
Hello Dose
... and make huge puddles in the street because the sewers are blocked up ... ... oh well ... hey ruby
("politics, shmolitics") what's wrong with disagreeing?
We can be friends across the political spectrum
same goes for religion!
... but unfortunately time, tide and the bus waits for no man ... and I must run ... ... have a good day ruby ... and luck to all
bye Dose
(the tide waits for me -- LOL)
One of my closest friends, who lives in Fl, could not be more different -- politically, religiously, socially -- and we've been friends for years, neither of us trying to change the other. She's been here to visit more than anybody else
Just givr us a bottle of tequila and all is well!
l find discussions of religion very interesting
No name-calling or proselitizing, just finding commonalities and différences.
Rational adults can have conversations about things they disagree on. It's people who think that they are right and you are wrong that are problematic when it comes to that.
wait, what is this rational adult you speak of, Molly?
I didn't think they existed any more...
You wouldn't think so by what you can see on Facebook.
but that could be because, I am definitly not rational after being awake since 3 am...
Exactly, Molly. I keep thinking I am going to stop doing FB but haven't been able to cut the cord yet...
What woke you at 3?
it was either my shoulder bothering me or my bladder telling me to pee... not sure which came first...
and then my husband breathes really loudly and when he isn't breathing loudly, he is snoring, so couldn't fall back asleep.
then again, it could be peri menopause hormone crap too...
l''m having trouble with a trapezoid but can't imagine why, since l don't do anything
that's weird...
One of the very few things l miss about my late husband was his snore. It made me feel secure
Now l have the dogs, with their stereo snoring, like a slightly discordant lullaby
Yeah, I was just thinking, there might come a day that I long for his snoring and loud breathing. I am sorry you don't have that anymore, Ruby.
Thanks, phandmd, but l don't mind being alone as his last couple of years were a tr5
was he ill?
just very old and had Alzheimers toward the end
That is hard! sometimes (maybe lots of times) life can be very cruel.
<--,not so young myself
It could be much worse; l am lucky to be alive
We all are...
But I think I am going to go back to bed now and see if I can get more sleep, since I no longer have to go to work...
lhope you get some,more zz's
good morning all. help with fo8. I know there are 2 of them

The bird clue is really not very helpful for that word. I monkied it, but didn't know the definition until I looked it up. Oooh. A learning experience.

no -- we just need normal words in the grid
Define "normal".
normal words in the grid that are more then 5 letters at least?
judi not a lot of us in here that's for sure:D
if we were 'normal' we might be doing more useful things!!
a lot of monkey words in this one

i got it, the te7 is an adj for third place
ahhh ty shirl, makes much more sense than the ornithology crap :D

i work from home so there were many meeting (online) where i was playing and "listening" heh
hello! it has warmed up here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Just enjoyed a 1.5 hour walk in 50 degrees. Way nicer than sub-freezing!
Now all we need is the rain, to wash away all the salt that is blowing around and making everything cloudy.
sonset - when you male offspring leaves home
Yes, that is coming though, Molly
wouldn't that be sonsetoff, Mool?
possibly, but I couldn't see sosetoff in the board :)
well, that is true...
I think we've hit 60 today, it's pretty mild anyway
we are supposed to hit 60 on Friday, but it is supposed to rain...
quite the turnaround
does the LO 7 build off the 5 before it?
It does - the first on is not a plural apparently
*one
ah! Thanks!
Hello and goodbye - was just finishing up
take care!
I hate when the words I don't have, haven't been previously clued in the chog... still have 7 words to find...
9 here
if I can help, let me know
OK, found 4 of them. Can I have a clue for the GE 5, and the FO 5/18, 6/30 pair?
ge5 - um...has double consonant in it
thanks
fo 5/18 and fo 6/30 are pairs, but only in the sense that they are alternative spellings
ok. but need more of a clue, I think it has to have an H, but can't puzzle it out...
alternatives of fo 4/8 and 5/18 that is
There's a 6/30 plural of the first 5/18.
It does, phandmd...start with "enemy"
alternatives to baby horse?
no, there's another fo4/5 combo
got it Champ
Great!
and done!
Me too...congrats!
yay!
Thanks for the clues!
afternoon....is not in there
YW!
is there an a7?
nm, found the 7
fw
evening all! congrats long ago to moolingwa
hi dan....
My first stab at today's grid. Hi kids.
Good evening.
hi scrabs, nef...
You're starting late tonight, Scrabs
I hit the snooze alarm for an hour this morning and lost Babble time.
i am done....
That snooze alarm is nice sometimes; other times it's dangerous.
Yay penquis. Now what?
Nef, I have 2 alarms on my phone. The problem was that I was awake with a migraine from 1:30-4 so when the alarm went off at 6 I was in deep sleep.
Yay, penquis!!! WTG!!!
hmmm.....nothing too exciting, lol....watch some TV and do a few things on the ipad, i guess....
ty...
oh....i will also do the NY Times crossword....
I am watching Jeopardy and again realizing large gaps in my knowledge--literature, history, music..
yes, i am watching, too...
I had a rough night too last night. I had thumb surgery last Wednesday & had gone without pain meds until about 3 AM last night> I finally got up & took 1/2 tab of Ultram & then was able to get some rest.
Oh, we should have Babbled together, Nef. Better today?
Yeah, I took some tylenol around 1; but I get this dang cast off tomorrow & they will put a splint on then. (it covers my full forearm; but the bruising goes 1/2 up my upper arm too)
Did you have a fracture repaired?
Nope arthritis. they did an anchovy procedure of the CMC joint of the left thumb.
I fear that I have arthritis in the same place--pain and tenderness for the last year or so, and the MCP joint too. I injured both joints when skiing 40 years ago.
(I think it's pretty funny; such a small rotten bone but it takes 3 months to heal & has such an enormous dressing & splint)
I guess being immobilized is crucial.
I had the right one done 4 - 5 years ago; put this one off because I'm a lefty. Finally the steroid injections didn't help.
I haven't seen an orthopod yet as I am not impaired or in terrible pain....yet.
I don't remember being quite so incompacitated the first time; I was still working back then (but it was my non-dominent hand...)
I can imagine your annoyance.
This last time I went in, the surgeon walked in the room, took 1 look at my hand & told me it was time; "victims" hyperextend their thumbs a certain way to prevent pain. :-)
Interesting. Mostly I get a sensation of impending dislocation when I extend the MCP joint.
The pre-op nurse says this is a common procedure for nurses -- along with hips, knees, & backs. No one said any of that when we first go into nursing!
that's interesting. I was also getting a clicking sound when I went to write or grab things a certain way.
IV pumps, syringes, etc
Have you ever dislocated the joints (since after the injury healed) anyway?
No, but if my thumb is forcefully extended the MCP joint feels like it will dislocate.
Ah, my Babble time is up. Grandson (8 years old) needs my help now.
hello ladies. Scrabbler you mentioned here that you had success with a time restricted eating diet. I am doing it now and find it the easiest thing for me. May I ask how much you lost?
Enjoy, Nef, and heal quickly.
That doesn't sound very stable then!
waves to Nef
7 lbs in 2+ mo, Bugsaw. Although I have dropped a size with clothing.
Great for you, Bugsaw! It is easy!
way to go, Scrabbs!
I am down nearly 30 lbs over the last year.
I am now swimming a mile 3 times weekly and lifting weights, so I wonder if I have gained muscle mass. Anyway, I need to lose a lot more.
Yay, phandmd!
That's awesome, Scrabbs. The weight loss is the icing on the cake, the increased fitness is the real benefit!
great! I tried reducing the amount I was eating, only eating when I was hungry and only eating enough to stop feeling hungry. I lost 11 pounds that way but was always hungry and not very happy. When I hit the plateau at only 11 pounds I tried this one and lost a further 2 pounds the first week.
I have to drop 40 - 50 pounds to be slim but I would be happy just to be not fat. ;)
I have plateaued at 7 lbs for the last few weeks. I admit that Xmas treats were a brief obstacle.
I am trying to be more active too but I am not very disciplined about that.
I am training to hike the Appalachian Trail in Virginia for a week in May.
Always helps to have a reason and fun goal in sight. Good for you. Anyway, thanks for the tip!
Bugsaw, the difference for me was hiring a personal trainer! I highly recommend it
phandmd I can't imagine spending money to hire someone to nag me and make me feel guilty. You must have a different makeup.
She doesn't nag me and make me feel guilty! She is my cheerleader and pusher to accomplish what I can. We have become great friends as well.
I love the way you look at it phand. no wonder it is working@
Let's keep it going!
definitely!
I am on board with that.
Bugsaw, it really isn't that "I look at it" that way. That's the way it truely is. I love that she has helped me be more confident, all while I tell her how much I hate her or that she is out of her everloving mind! But seriously, I would not be where I am today without her and I never want to go back to being what I was! It is well worth the money I have spent and will spend.
sounds like you have a good friend in your trainer. I will keep this idea (and your postive attitude) in mind if I get stalled again.
Do you do TRX, phandmd?
Yes, I do! She has one and I decided to buy one for myself!
Here is a good laugh: a few weeks ago my visiting sister was showing me how to use the TRX system. I was prone, with my feet in the loops, doing planks, when I did a face plant. Ouch.
good to laugh at oneself... You are ok?
Oh, yes. Even my glasses survived.
That's great! I haven't done planks with the system yet...
It is tough to get your toes in the loops while prone. Then pushing up on your hands while your feet are moving is another challenge.
68 left and I am done.
I can't do planks right now, I have shoulder issues that I am going to PT for. I an't wait to try to get into them again...
I try
