it is not too bad. Two nightshifts, each 4 hours long. Either 11 pm - 3 am, or 3 am - 7 am. And one dayshift and one chat shift. The last one I can do at home.

yeah we can, and I am in the happy circumstance that I can usually plan my days around the nightshift free. Not too bad to be sleepy and able to lie down and nap :)
true, when necessary, I do believe we can adjust to almost anything
that is true. I wouldn't want to do something that taxed me too much, but this, I can do. It is nice to contribute to society even when on disability.

hi godthaab! I work as a volunteer at the national help telephone line. I speak with people who are lonely and people who are suicidal, and everything in between.
Very impressive!
I hadn't known that Sprite - but from what I've learned so far, I can just imagine how well you handle uncomfortable situations
it is usually not very hard to do. It just requires empathy and compassion. People are often judged or given lots of advice. Someone who really listens and does not judge can make a real difference
I bet it is a very taxing job.
absolutely Sprite - but it does take a person who is able to listen and also hear what might not be told - and to be able to get people to open up to you
it can be. Some shifts really leave their mark. But usually I am just grateful to be allowed to hear people's stories. And let them know they are not alone and somebody cares.

I hope so. It is important to me that they feel listened to and heard. Most times, I cannot really help in any practical way. But being there for them often makes the difference. And trying to help them see their own way to the next step, that is important too.

We plummetted from 50 to 30 today and will get 12 inches of snow in the next 24 hrs.

We have not seen much flu in kids but it is hitting adults badly here.
