12:26 am

Thank you for doing the stats!

12:32 am

my pleasure! i must not play i must not play i must not play well ... maybe i'll just do a few words on paper ;)

12:45 am

rfh.... the birds are back....

2:39 am

Hopefully my brain will start working today - I just could *not* do yesterday's puzzle :s

9:32 am

atalante, if ya figger how to get our brains working, fill me in :)

9:37 am

First run through (even though I told myself I would NOT play today) gives 113 words for 1410 points. I've found one of the 8s and 9 of the 7s: 8-45 T stretched cloth for drying without shrinkage 7-28 A a short song 7-28 A a short song 7-36 A examined records for accuracy 7-36 D one who makes bare 7-32 D breakfast nook 7-36 E lasted 7-32 E went in 7-28 T topography 7-28 T a pate or dish used to cook it

9:46 am

Oh, I love when there are clues :-)

9:48 am

Another 7-32 E - well-knowledged. Anyone else feel free to jump in with others. :)

9:48 am

Are there 2 different short songs? Or would that be a duet?

9:49 am

Yep, that's two separate words. Only a duet if we both sing together. :-D (and you don't want to hear me sing!)

D-7 agreement pact

9:51 am

Well as long as no-one else is on.....no-one'd know! :-)

9:52 am

Ok, so we're now a trio. Start singing!

actually d-7 : A relaxing or easing, as of tension between rivals

9:53 am

E7 - goes with cordial :P R7 - goes out with again T7 - paté

9:54 am

Atalante - I think your T7 is the same as my T7, unless there are 2 pates. ;)

9:56 am

ohhhh sorry - didn't see that on yours *sigh*

a7 - inflated; pompous

10:02 am

I'm not much of a pate fan so I'm missing the word. I'm sure it's there :)

10:15 am

Atalante - In your earlier clue, is that cordial the noun, or cordial the adjective? ;) This one is bugging me! :-D

10:15 am

there is a U 6 and 8 combo, synonyms for a red growth on plants. (helpful, I know.)

10:24 am

oh! and a similar-looking U/7 chemical word

10:26 am

Well, I was looking for the A/7/inflated but found a different one instead. A/7/32 - paying attention.

10:31 am

sorry that was a bit of a cryptic clue but it struck me as amusing :P Cordial the adjective - and the word goes with Stevedallas's D7

10:37 am

Aha - I understand now! Got it. :)

10:42 am

what a fun start, 3 7's! :)

10:45 am

jlm, where does your a7 meaning examining fall into the a sequence?

10:46 am

never mind duh found it

10:46 am

I had said I wasn't going to play today either :) D8 - an extension of a nerve cell, or a mineral cyrstallzing into a branch-like marking

10:47 am

Thanks krys. As soon as I saw your post, I knew that word. Why don't we see these things until someone points them out????

10:52 am

true... thanks, Krys10.

10:52 am

Sorry - I couldn't help it .... ;)

11:00 am

Can anyone help with K words? I have 4,4,4,6

11:03 am

4-4-4-4-5-6 for k's jlm

11:05 am

Well, that made the 5 very easy to find. Thanks steve!

11:08 am

4-4-4-5-6-6 k jlm

11:09 am

phew! I was about going crazy, just in that short time, trying to find another K4 that couldn't possible exist unless it was kdrd. :-D

11:11 am

I'm with you! I just got to the last possible K4 possibility...

11:14 am

now who wants to help me on these strange U's for 6/7/8

11:16 am

ooh, there's a 7 too? i found them looking at plant pathology..

11:17 am

interesting thing about the Us is that only one of six words is an UN.

11:46 am

There is a 5-letter U word that you most likely have. The 7 letter word starts with the same 3 letters. The word rhymes with some other, more common, chemical terms two of which might be used to treat or cleanse wounds. The 6 and 8 letter words have a different 3rd letter. I'm not sure how to describe them. But, they differ in their last letters. Actually, if you add two letters before the last two letters of the 6, you will get the 8. The last 4 letters of the 8 are a 4-letter i word for 4 points that shows up in these puzzles a lot.

11:48 am

tks jlm had already figured out the 6 and 8 words but your help on the 7 letter was invaluable

11:49 am

tks krys for the pathology clue

12:01 pm

Darn, I thought "dudette" might be the last 7-letter word!

12:07 pm

Finally found the last K6. It's a presidential candidate with a different last letter

12:08 pm

I just ran across a D/7 pipe, is that the last one?

12:39 pm

here are my big words. I think I have them all: A7 28 A7 28 A7 32 A7 36 A7 28 D8 50 D7 36 D7 32 D7 32 E7 36 E7 28 E7 32 E7 32 N7 28 R7 36 T8 45 T7 28 T7 28 U8 45 U7 32

12:45 pm

No, parsec, I think the N7/28 is the only 7 that has not yet been hinted to. But a D7 pipe? I don't have anything that I think would fit that. Do you have 4xD7? How many points is it? Does it have any other definition?

12:49 pm

The N7 is a chemical found in the brain.

12:51 pm

argh, nevermind about the pipe. That would be a D6 I got all excited about finding and then counted the letters wrong.

12:59 pm

Presidential candidates? Hmmm Bush? Kerry? Nope those don't fit *sigh* LOL

1:00 pm

It's not a presidential candidate with the last letter changed. It's a presidential candidate with the last letter removed and replaced by 2 letters. ;)

1:04 pm

ahhhhhhh thank you! I feel slightly more hopeful about finding it now ;)

1:05 pm

Stef, you not on tonight, or are you just hiding?

1:07 pm

anyone want to compare Ts? I have TAx2, TEx14, TIx7, and TRx8. Anyone know where the other four are?

1:07 pm

jlm, that clue is WAAAYYYYY too ovious.LOL. My way took some thought.

1:09 pm

fit1, you're way was impossible! The candidate to which you refer has a 5-letter name, and this word is 6 letters. People would never get there from here. ;) parsec - I have, unfortunately, the same or less than you in every category there.

1:11 pm

That's all right, jlm. Systematic random typing it is.

1:13 pm

Just found another TE

1:14 pm

Ooh - and another!

1:18 pm

Sorry, those are above what parsec posted, so there are at least 16xTE.

the female serf is back

1:26 pm

i have 17 TE's

I have 32 Ts total

1:43 pm

I've got 3 A7-28's.

1:45 pm

Getting started late today. Looks like a fun grid!

1:51 pm

sorry claws, so did you... didn't look far enough down...

1:51 pm

sprite - claws listed point values and starting letters for all the big words a bit earlier, and clues have been posted for (I think) all of them somewhere in the grid.

1:55 pm

How about A words? I've got 3xAi, 2xAR, 4xAU and those include the 5 7-letter words.

2 more related Ar words jlm

1:58 pm

jlm--look for 2 more AR and an AE. Still missing one myself.

1:59 pm

Thanks steve. I think I miss those in every single puzzle until someone points them out to me. I wonder why I've blocked them mentally? ;)

2:03 pm

And thanks parsec. :)

i hate ae words; should be abolished

2:08 pm

just want to say that I really enjoy playing this with all of you. the spirit of camaraderie is delightful!

2:21 pm

Thanks claws! I enjoy the crowd here too. Always willing to help. And on that note . . . I hope this helps someone, and looking for any I can get for Rs. I have: 4xRA, 9xRE, 4xRi, 2xRU

2:23 pm

You are looking for at least two more RU's...

i have 6 ru's jlm

2:23 pm

I have 12xRE

and 11 re's

2:24 pm

Wonderful! If I can find all those, I'll only be missing 2. :)

2:30 pm

jlm--i think if you find all those, you'll only be missing one. Or is my math all screwed up?

2:32 pm

parsec - It could very well be my math today. Normally it's a good subject for me, but not with a head cold. ;) But, I think I posted starting letters for 19 of them. Steve posted 4 more for RU and you posted 3 more for RE, bringing me to 26. There are 28 total.

i now have 13 re's jlm

2:35 pm

huh, on a recount, I do only have 26. drat. =)

2:42 pm

could I have a clue for the E7 that doesn't include the word cordial?

there are 4 e7 krys which ones do you have

2:43 pm

There are 4 E7s. Other than the cordial one, I clued them all at 9:37 & 9:48.

I have 27 r's argghhh

2:46 pm

the E7's I have are "went into", "survived", and "learned person".

2:49 pm

Then you are missing the one that DOES have cordial in its clue. ;) Atalante gave a better clue at 10:31. :)

2:51 pm

Right, I've seen those clues. I'm missing the D7 referred to as well :)

2:52 pm

Sorry I wasn't clear - I've been fixated on this last E7, so I forgot there were three others!

2:53 pm

They come from the French. Does that help? They are governmental/international political words.

2:54 pm

That oughta do it - thanks >:)

2:58 pm

Steve - I also have 27 R words now. Want to compare lengths? We must have one word different, right???? 13x4 5x5 8x6 1x7

3:02 pm

ah, fantastic! I have 14x4R, and I see I am missing a 5.

3:09 pm

I was missing an RE, so I'm guessing you are too.

3:39 pm

Looking for this 5 is driving me batty. Are there more than 13xRE? I have 4xRA, 4xRI, and 6xRU. Help!

3:46 pm

Yes, 14xRE. There are only 3 words that begin with RE and have 5 letters. One of them is a true Re- word (meaning to do again). The other 2 share the same 3 starting letters.

3:52 pm

whew, thanks.

4:13 pm

Your last Re5 is not a common word. Biological. Refers to an early state of a flatworm.

now I know more about flatworms than I ever wanted to know

8:33 pm

Slow night on babble! Is there anyone else here hunting for those last few words?

8:47 pm

I'm back. Lots of words to go. Only at 71/912. Red Sox are winning!!

8:59 pm

Well, best of luck Minski! It's 10pm here, so I'm off to get ready for some sleep. :)

9:02 pm

Babble Gods will not allow a female nerd to be a nerdette :(

Or a female dude to be a dudette. Not that that makes any sense....

10:02 pm

Darn Orioles don't know when to lose. It's the bottom of the 11th inning and the score is still tied at 6.

10:27 pm

Well they finally figured it out. Red Sox win with a walk off homerun in the bottom of the 12th inning! It's 11:30pm and I have 79/1036. I know I'm not close to finished, but I have over 1000 points so I'm happy. Pumpkintime! TaTa

11:09 pm

This game is way too addictive. Have to go to work in about 20 minutes and cannot keep myself from trying to find a few more words... Hopefully NOT about flatworms!

11:21 pm

Topeka!! Urethra!! I found a really cool word...:)

11:25 pm

Dang - I forgot to play, this morning, and there's only 30 minutes left.. I still can't find the 8-letter word. I have nine 7s.... But - I did darned well, considering the short time I played.

So did I, Einstein... I mean mulher. ;)

11:27 pm

My "Topeka!! Urethra!!" was quoting Kelly Bundy, a totally underappreciated Einstein of her time.

11:30 pm

mulher-you-silly-goose...Thank you, for another word.

11:32 pm

which 8 letter word?

11:35 pm

If you are asking about the word I was refering to, it is a 7 letter word.

11:35 pm

Or maybe when I learn to count, a 6 letter word....jeez

11:36 pm

44 for 400. I'm done. Good night all on this first day of autumn, my favorite season of the year...:)

11:37 pm

No, I wondered which 8 letter word Christine referred to, there are 3. Sorry, got to go...

11:46 pm

I read the posts, and there was a list of one 8 (refering to stretching cloth), and some 7s. I don't have the two 7s that are 'short songs', but I do have one, not listed, that is defined as 'golden color', also as 'pompous'. Ain't no way I'm gonna find THREE blinkin' 8-letter words.
