Good morning, Flosey

Are you having a sleep problem?
l akee Xanax and it gives me 8 hours without anxiety and itss concommitent nightmares.
sorry Ruby, was away making tea. I believe I was wakened, don't know by what (or who) though
l recently spent an entirely sleepless night and was a wreck! 8 hours is perfect

yw flosey
and of course quite poisonous
wow lyn sounds very overbearing
were you able to get rid of them?
we shan't mention the brick fence it was knocking over
Happily it was still quite small only about 2 metres high so I cut it down...the small stump is still there 3 years later and still it tries to grow
Well that's good
a lesson well learned - and that is why da6.24 was one of my first words - it just jumped out at me
sounds worse than poison ivy - spent a few summers with that one - truly almost head to toe
my husband and I got into some of that a couple of weeks ago and are still healing from that :-(
I don't think we have that here, happy to say
lucky you lyn, we're constantly on the go looking for it
ca 7/36 please?
do they use goats on it?
no goats here, it's too suburban. We use round up. That's the only way to get rid of it.
Round Up is sooo bad for people, animals and the earth.
Yeah, we have had a lot of media talking about that recently here too.
yes, but it's the only way to get rid of PI. Some people say use boing water on it. However, in my experience, it grow up
just finished, any clues needed?
We are on our 3rd year with a heavy tarp over Japenese knotweed and it still pops up elsewhere.
They are experimenting here with herds of goats eating weeds off steep sides of freeways to avoid using poisons. I have seen doco's of them being used in the US as well.
As more CO2 enters the atmospher and the earth gets hotter, the more it grows
I'm mostly concerned what grows in the yard.
How did the jpanese knotweed get in? Was it introduced?
I am not familiar with Japanese knot weed. Is it toxic?
Fraid so. It's a beautiful plant that can stop erosion but you can't stop it.
Sorry not toxic but introduced.
Good to know some other countries import stuff that has diabolical side effects....and it's not just silly us!
actually I think the goat thing I saw was about the knotweed
Well I'm late to work. See you all tomorrow.
bye
I'd better get going to - bye all

Greetings, Babble citizens.
Hi Judi
hi scrabbler
Hi Owl
saw an intersting tv sgment on parent hiring sleep coaches to get their infants to sleep.
Oy.
if they sleep there, its 3-8 thousand$
Everyone knows you just plunk them in the car seat and drive them around. Just kidding. I am not a parent, so I can't criticize. Just reflex snarky comments.
i've heard that. also letting the hair dryer run.
Geez, parents don't act like parents anymore.
Routine, routine, routine. Babies and kids must learn the proper conditions to fall asleep.
must go. just spent an hour trying to exercise the privilege of shelling out $3K to my insurance company. totally incompetent.
DO NOT GET NATIONWIDE
Or, put them in the car seat on top of the running dryer. Where are grandparents to call for advice. Who are these breeders who enter parenthood so cluelessly?
er, i think our parents were pretty clueless as well. but they had support system
Most parents are clueless initially but self-education is key.
Yes, Owl. Grandmothers and aunts taught mothers.
and coaches are the rage for nearly everything these days. for a generation that tells everyone he or she is excellent, they don't have the self confidence to do things on their own. i don;t get this.
Millenials. Go figure.
Owl, I shake my head all day in my office. It is scary and sad.
watch tv ads - how many do you see that advise you to do things "like a pro"? seriuosly. the pressure.
i love the one that says - is that all you want to be? a good husband/father/ etc?
Its difficvult now. We work with a diverse range of parents and many of them have been raised poorly themselves - bad parenting is learned as much as good parenting is. Routine is shown to be harmful to young babies at night, once they are older, fine, but these sleep trainers and sleep routines on newborns make outr job harder as we see breastfeeding failing, higher rates of admission for jaundice etc. The main thing Id say to people is that babies really arent convenient for the first few months.
There are so many resources yet many parents just don't want to do what needs to be done.
Many of them dont know or dont know how to access those resources. We need more time with new parents, but in UK the budget is being slashed and slashed.
and now, time to get those frustrations out in boxing class. later, all
maybe we need to avoid all the pressure on people to have children who are ill-equipped to handle them
Yes, granadan. Babies don't know how to self-soothe until age 4 months, so putting a baby on a schedule or a routine won't work in those first 4 months. And young infants really do need close body contact those first months. Parents want to put their baby down and get on with life. That isn't relaistic
i'd forgotten how hard boxing is but my muscles are reminding me quickly. ;)
Good exercise temple
Yes, ruru, but young women that have no other identity (poor students, no desire for education/trade/career) often create an identity of mother at too young an age.
Hmm. Not sure society puts pressure on people to have children. Some folks put pressure on themselves because they really want children. Others, I believe, have children because they failed to use protection or failed to familiarize themselves with the physical, emotional and financial consequences that would be required.
So true, Judi.
I had enormous pressure from my family to get married and have children
Those young mothers are often the ones denied thst decent education, and therefore have little chance of work who end up Mums early. Some teenage Mums I've worked with are amazing and put many to shame. When life seems a bit hopeless, I can see the attraction of a small human to love and give some purpose.
My mother emphasized education, independence, and self-sufficiency.
Yes, granadan
95 left and I am done. Enjoy the day. We are having another scorcher today.

Age back!
Didn't follow with the second - too much diversity for reading back then1
Colleen McCullough - The Grass Crown was the 2nd one. There were a few more in the Roman series that I didn't read
Has the smoke cleared from Calgary now? -- it was really bad when we were there a couple of weeks ago
Yesterday was so cloudy I couldn't tell - though the Way it kept my cough going, I think we had some of it - but today is clear and sunny - glorious!
Mind you, we had some days that it wasn't very smoky at all - then at evening it would close in!
yes - we had that yesterday, but lovely now.
Hagd everyone -- see you tonight or tomorrow
I have to keep reminding myself that we have two directions to feed us smoke - wind out of the south isn't that common, but it happens.
