Lite Stats: 278 Words: 8's.. 8 7's..11 6's..46 5's..91 4's..122
and a 9 for 66
Mom -- are you playing? you're in the grid today! ;-D
bedtime for baby & me . . . only 11x6 so far and none larger ;-( 115/1277
One of the 8s is for 55 and it is a *silly* word
another 8 for 55 - and not a silly word :P
I only have an 8/45 and and 8/50 so far. And found that 9 as well. I hope *silly* was a clue! ;)
Another 8/45
I have one 8/55 now, but I am not sure it is the silly one!
And a quite common 8/60.
the silly one - I think at least - is about as bad as catclaws etc etc
Mine is about escapism.
I have used the X once in 170 words. Anyone who used it more often?
What else would you call a couple of matching teacups and ditto teapot??
I "left" a d8 for 60 and went on
I only have the D8 up to now
I've got 6 8-words so far. D60 D50 i45 O55 O45 S55
Have you got the 9 yet
The 9 builds on one of the eights.
And an A8/60 which I tried against my better judgement, to find the babblegods do think it is a word. Archaic word and differently spelled.
Cannot be sure without stats, but if Krys10 was right about the 8 biggies, one of them being a 9 though, then they are all accounted for now. 7x8 and 1x9.
Not sure about the lite stats. I have 277 words now, but only 9 7's. Think I come back later, when it is more lively here. :-)
would you please tell me what the 8's start with or a clue please?
nevermind, I just read one of the earlier posts
I hope someone can help me with the 7's. I have for 7's: D36 (combo with 8/50) F44 O32 (combo with 8/55) P40 R32 (anagram of O32) R40 R36 S36 S32 If there are only 278 words, there must be one more. Or there are more than 278 words and then there are at least 2 more (if the 7-count was correct, that is).
For the 8's and the 9: A60 gone away (archaic and strangely spelled, at least I think so) D60 see fit1 at 06.48 am D50 thrushes down or out i45 make hard, inure (combo with 9/66) O55 (must be Atalante's silly one) escape reality. O45 no definition. Like 'finishes a book'. Odd word. S55 began to grow
From those of you wondering whether the lite stats are trustworthy: they're from the solver that uses a different doctionary than Babble, so they are sometimes off by a word or two. Also, there is no way to distinguish between an 8 and an 8+. If someone wants to wade through the other solver to get stats, you'll have a better count.
That would be really nice! If I understand rightly, there are probably 7x8- and 1x9-words and perhaps one or two more words in total (279 or 280)? In that case, I am 2x7 short and maybe one more word.
would someone who's close to finished mind putting up a letter breakdown?
I can count what I have, but I am still missing a few. Don't know exactly how much or with which starting letter. Give me a sec.
My count (so not complete): A 12 D 51 (!) E 14 F 3 H 11 i 2 M 3 N 5 O 13 P 36 R 31 S 34 T 41 U 6 W 8 Y 7
O55 - maybe its just me LOL I'd never heard that word before!!
:-D Maybe you're living much more in the real world than I do!
now I've never been accused of living in the real world too much before! Its usually completely the opposite :P
Probably depends on whom you are compared with... :P
So I found 129 words, then looked up a solver. I've gotta work on that getting the counts without seeing the words thing, but then again, I shouldn't have started playing today anyway. Turns out there really are 280 words: 8+ x8 7x11 6x46 5x92 4x123 Ax12 Dx51 Ex14 Fx3 Hx11 ix2 Mx3 Nx5 Ox13 Px38 Rx31 Sx34 Tx42 Ux6 Wx8 Yx7
Thanks, parsec. Is there anyone who could help me with those two missing 7s? Thanks to parsec's list I know at least one must start with a P. The other either with another P or with a T. The remaining word is, if I counted correctly, 5 letters. I really cannot think of any word I haven't tried at least twice. :-(
There was that clue for T7/28 meaning Tootsie...is that one of the ones you're missing? (I haven't gotten that one yet, but maybe you can!)
off the top of my head, f/7/44 came
Hi Berekah, which clue do you mean? I remember tootsie from another grid, but cannot find a clue for this one?
Oh my, fit1, you are a real gentleman or gentlewoman! ;)
um...oops. I use the same .txt file to save all the clues, so I don't have to scroll through the chat when I want to find a clue. Today I must not have deleted all the old info first :-) Sorry!
*lol* No sorry needed, thanks for trying!
I just made another nice 7, with a T... but trapesa isn't acceptably spelled! ;-D
Any help for my last W? 4xWA4, 2xWA5, 1xWE4
Is there more than 1 O32/7
There is a strange WA6.
I just found a 7 - 64 - P that I didn't see mentioned in my notes.
I found the what I was looking for
I am missing an O! I have OD4x1, OR4x1, OR5x2, OR6x2, OU5x2, OU7x1, OU8x2, OYx1. Anyone have the last one?
I have been looking for A60 for over an hour and still no luck finding it
The 8/60 is based on a 6/27, which still may not help, but should narrow down the letter possibilities somewhat.
There is another oux5
Minski, could you please give me a clue about that P7?
Day in, day out, it always seems to be the same letters that give me trouble. S is a particular problem child. SA4x3 SA5x2 SE4x1 SE6x1 SE7x2 SH4x3 SH5x1 SH6x2 SP4x3 SP5x4 SP6x3 SP8x1 Any help?
The P7 is related to a P5 expletive.
Probably a P5 expletive that I don't have either! *lol* Cannot stand it, only 3 words missing and I really cannot find them. Anyway, here are the S's you miss: Sa5 x1 Sa6 x1 Sh6 x1 Sp4 x2 Sp5 x2 Good luck!
That d#rn P and its 5-combo partner is undoubtedly another "empf"-like word, that no foreigner will ever be able to find! ;)
'durapet' -- an animal that can withstand the abuse of living with small children sorry, just being silly! ;-D since coming back I've found 1x9, 4x8, 2x7 & a bunch of 6s . . . not likely to finish this one!
Are there really sh4x3?? I can find 2, but I've tried all the other options and can't find a third.
Yep. I have Sh4 x3. My guess is you have two that are practically the same?
yup. Well, I think so...two of the letters match ;-) I think I'm too tired for this puzzle and should let my family take over!! But I can't...i will keep trying....
never mind...I looked again, and either I got it and didn't realize, or my family IS helping me from another computer ;-) Thanks!
sh4 8 *fish related to herrings 10 *a thicket or grove 10 *variant of 'show'
Okay, this is madness. I found the P words. Are those REALLY words? Especially that 7?? Could somebody please give me a hand with the last 7, which must be a T?
berekah -- no fair!! LOL! My only 'helpers' don't spell well but *love* to press keys, esp the 16 mos old!
Sure Sprite but it's kind of a difficult word to hint at. It is related to a P-5-26. Just add a 2 letter suffix. If someone compliments you, you might say the P/5 then that person telling someone else about the conversation might say I complimented him and all he said was P\7\64. That's kind of vague though. Just read the posts and realize that you might not be American Sprite. I've read this word in some Western Romance Novels, but it's not a word I would ever use nor have I ever heard it used, only read it in books.
One more hint. The 5 letter word only has one vowel in it and starts with 3 consonants.
It's a rather old-fashioned expletive
Thanks! That helped me tremendously...the Western clue was helpful :-) And yes, I have "helpers," but they live in a different city so I never know when they'll join me. Some days I'll hit "refresh" and have 20 new words, so all the things I find are already in there!! :-)
There are, I swear, SH4x3.
I found the third. Or, rather, it was in my list when I went back and looked. Thanks.
Thanks, Minski! You are right, I am Dutch. I may read quite a lot in english, but I never came across this couple. I really appreciate the explanation of their use. Now I am down to that last T7. Did anyone find it yet?
Sprite, I'm so impressed. I had NO idea you weren't a native English speaker. You put those of us mono-lingual people to shame :-)
I found all of sprite's S words, but I am still 1 S short.
I have SP6x4...
@ fnurt: I'll do a recount. @ berekah: thanks *blush*. I really love this puzzle because I learn so much new words from it. And it is fun with this chatlog!
fnurt, you need another Sp6. Sorry for the bad counting.
lol! I must need to update my expletive vocabulary . . . I was trying to make that P7 adding another vowel ;-)
is the "silly" escapism O8 a compound word?
Yes, it is, and both parts are common words.
Got it, thank you. Still stuck on the D7/8 combo and the P7's, but getting there...
Getting closer... DA4x10 DA5x4 DA6x2 DE4x4 DE5x2 DE6x1 DE7x1 DE8x2 DO4x3 DO5x1 DR4x1 DR5x3 DR6x2 DU4x4 DU5x3 DY4x1
Fnurt, if I counted right the first time now, you are looking for another: Da4 Da5 De5 (one of those 3 uses the X) Do5 Dr6 x2
Nobody a trace of that T7 yet?
inaniloquent, that D7/8 combo is based on Latin. The first part means "down". The other part means "to push, to thrush".
Ah, I feel much better. Would have found it faster if I had been thinking of a similar word meaning to stick out.
Now that would have been a nice hint! :) Didn't think of it. Do you have all the 7s yet? I am really looking for someone to give me a hand with my final word.
I'm still missing the P's, and a T, from what you've said..
The first P7 is an italian-sounding word meaning owner, manager, especially of an inn. The second P7 is that weird word I only found by knowing it was an expletive and noodling around. There are many clues in the log.
Whoops, I had the second one already, forgot. I start work on the hour, so I likely won't be able to wrap this up well! I'll pop on if I have time between client.
This is such a long playbabble. I've found over 100 but haven't time to go on!
I give up for tonight, it is really time to get some sleep. Perhaps I'll log on tomorrow morning and see if some friendly babblefairy left a clue. :) You know you are addicted when you get up earlier to find that last word...
sprite - The T7 you are missing is a quantum physics word worth 44 points. It starts from the T in the lower row and is 2 letters added to the end of a T5 worth 18 points.
It figures that word wouldn't be found till late.
thanks jlm
is there really a 9 letter word? any hints?
onyx -- it means to harden; each time I looked at the lower left corner I wanted to make a similar word with a different prefix . . . hth!
thanks fixit, found it,
'deadpet' -- opposite of 'durapet' (my 3:10PM definition) . . . oh, must be getting tired to be getting this punchy!
Thank you, jlm_mi! I never would have found that word on my own. How rewarding to get up early! :-) Done at 280 words 4.89 4275 points. And, of course, 2 words the wiser I would never have come across if it weren't for babble. *lol*
