some have divorced, some have died, and others have survived. if anyone's been beheaded, we'd be just like the wives of Henry VIII, collectively. but i think we fall short on that mark.

1:08 am

*hugs Kam* Good evening, dear one! How are you and your beloved doing today?

1:09 am

morning dfmc

1:10 am

We had a good day! Until the power popped off for an hour, including cell reception! I guess something blew at a local power station - 6300 addresses without power - I didn't even know that many people lived in the area! Guess the outage crossed county lines.

1:11 am

But we had our lantern at the ready!

1:11 am

how very uncomfortable :(

1:13 am

More eerie than anything, I think. Our solar lights were still on, but that was the only light visible. I'm glad the power company got it fixed quickly - according to their recorded message, we would have had to wait two hours from now. We actually have a plug in land line phone for nights like these!

1:14 am

well prepared :)

1:14 am

It was only out about an hour. And, in the country, we have to be prepared, never know what's next.

1:14 am

1:18 am

true! I finished the attic yesterday. Am glad I made it. Today, more of the same in Caya's old room.

1:20 am

I am pretty sure asshat is a word

1:20 am

Wow, congrats! That's a lotta work. Cleaning to get ready to sell is such a pain. I don't want to ever do it again.

1:21 am

There are enough of them in our gov't here, I know it's a word!

1:21 am

it is not just the cleaning. We first need to get rid of about 80% of all our clutter. The realtor said houses sell better when people can see how much room there is. Roomy sells.

1:22 am

that is what they say, yeah. and smelling good is important.

1:22 am

bake an apple pie

1:22 am

Yep. My last house had more storage than I ever used. My 'now' house has zip in the storage dept and I hate it

1:23 am

baking apple pies, hursh? :D Might leave an apple pie on the table for the realtor and the possible buyers on look-days

1:23 am

And turn on all the lights

1:24 am

or burn an apple pie candle, much easier

1:24 am

hm yeah, true, hursh. Good idea

6:27 am

does anyone have the "pirate name" URL>

6:28 am

sorry - that's not a grid question but it is something that's used for fun with a lot of Babble players & I need it for a birthday girl.

6:32 am

If you do a Google search on "pirate name generator" you will find lots of sites

6:34 am

Yes, I did that, thanks, Molly. I found lists of names but not the one where you put in your name and answer questions and it generates a pirate namr. I'll check again, though - thought someone might know

I'm watching the Kavanaugh hearings. They are full of drama and surprises.

4:17 pm

harpjane, I tried ... but it's become a political circus of weapons throwing on both sides. I try to remind myself that historically, this has long been the way in governments such as ours, but it doesn't make it easier to accept.

4:19 pm

today is reminiscent of the Anita Hill hearings. I know people who called in sick so they could watch them!

4:23 pm

riveting! mystery, sex, drama, royalty, profanity

4:23 pm

Yes, and like the Anita Hill hearings, the gravity of a woman attacked and harassed is buried under the avalanche of political accusations. If it's not the 'boys will be boys' excuse, it's the feigned outrage over 'political machinations'. I'm hoping for the best, but expecting the usual.

4:24 pm

That said, just knowing you are keeping an eye on it all and finding it engaging somehow makes me feel better, harpjane :). {{{ hug }}}

6:48 pm

That would put a damper on it

6:50 pm

Yeah it does. I am not silly about it though. My friends can drink when they are with me and I am fine with it. I just chose not to have too much.

6:51 pm

How is the bunny mansion?

7:00 pm

Sadly my beloved Remy died in my arms Monday morning. He was only 5 yrs old.

7:01 pm

Oh no

7:01 pm

I am sorry

7:01 pm

He developed a GI problem Sunday and abruptly worsened 15 minutes before he died. I am heartbroken. He was my shadow here--very bonded to me.

7:01 pm

Five is young isn’t it?

7:02 pm

Awful

7:02 pm

Yes, 10-12 is expected lifespan. My sister has a 15 yr old rabbit.

7:02 pm

so sorry to hear that scrab

7:03 pm

Gulliver is 8 and doing well, he just isn't a cuddly bunny. He is very skittish. Soon I will rescue another bunny, or maybe 2 bonded rabbits.

7:04 pm

Now I am crying again. Remy was special--he followed me everywhere, and jumped in bed with me.

7:04 pm

I have to feedthe dogs. Take care

7:05 pm

Awwww i understand that. It is the worst

7:06 pm

The ones that get your heart are so painful to lose

7:06 pm

Absolutely

i am sorry about remy, scrabller.

7:08 pm

TY, Owl.

7:10 pm

aww. lurking but so sorry to hear of your loss scrabbler

7:11 pm

TY, circe. It is so hard to lose a beloved pet.

7:13 pm

agreed, but thank you for being one of the brave ones willing to risk the loss and hurt for the gifts of love and companionship they give us. Rescuing is so important..great to hear you may adopt in the future too!

7:15 pm

I have had 11 rabbits since 1983 and my last 4-5 have been rescues. Remy was going to be released into the woods because the woman had no time to take care of him. I will search local rabbit rescues for bunnies. A bonded pair would be nice to get.

7:17 pm

that's just cruel, release them into the woods, people are so thoughtless

7:18 pm

that is so beautiful to hear ( not the woods part) and I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding a great pair.

7:18 pm

I was seeing her newborn in the office and I always inquire about pets in the home. As son as she said that I asked if I could have him. She said yes and I saved Remy from what would have been a swift death by a predator.

7:19 pm

*soon

you are so kind hearted

7:22 pm

I always want to rescue animals and kids and anyone in need of help.

i have been struggling seeing rescued NC pets brought to shelters here. a litter of kittens!

7:26 pm

I fantasize about having a dog + cat + rabbits all happily bonded here.

7:36 pm

Why is he moving?

sort of a pre retiement move.

i will miss him terribly. we were very compatiple in our views on health.

7:38 pm

That is tough, to lose a doc that you trust and like

good opportunity. the practice has been through a lot of ahcnages lately. swallowed up by a huge conglomerate which i think was stressgul. they just broke away.

but as we age losing providers is inevitable. it's not like the old days when they delivered you and practically buried you.

7:42 pm

Smart MDs retire ASAP.

huh?

7:43 pm

Sadly, and scarily, the future of primary care will be delivered by NPs and PAs. That will be dangerous for us all.

7:44 pm

Well, Owl, life as a primary care MD is very stressful. We are overworked and underpaid, so it is wise to get out early and enjoy retirement.

The practice of medicine is ruled by insurance companies and Big Pharma.

he is only 55 so moving to a corporate environment is a step in that direction. but he is very caring.

working for a huge health conglomerate did not suit him. it;s the jefferson health system out of philly

i am glad he told me. with the other one, i got a letter after the fact.

24 years in that practice, he said he has become fond of his patients.

11:18 pm

I think the 5th column g is gh4/7 , g + a thing people wear on their heads

11:20 pm

5th col o??? Seriously? Are you sure? You've been playing this game for eternity. I don't want you to hurt yourself, ya know, when you kick yourself.

11:21 pm

For the o - take what the owl does & remove the first letter.

11:25 pm

11:26 pm

mkg - your lucky streak has come to an end - that one I don't have, I still have 29 to go.

11:27 pm

okay - that bottom o - just look at the letter that follow it & like magic, there's your word :)

11:27 pm

its ok. what about the others? the O or N or A? if you dont have one of them maybe you have the others.

11:28 pm

na5/10 is the Latin root of my real first name - but that's no help. Think infant, pre- & post-

11:30 pm

brb

11:33 pm
