oh sorry 4/7, forgot U was 2
it's been awhile (probably literal years) since was last here, how has everyone been?
still breathing :)
some have divorced, some have died, and others have survived. if anyone's been beheaded, we'd be just like the wives of Henry VIII, collectively. but i think we fall short on that mark.
bottom O?
ou5/22
yes, thanks!
good morning all
Mornin', Sprite! *Hugs*
morning sprite!
*hugs Kam* Good evening, dear one! How are you and your beloved doing today?
morning dfmc
We had a good day! Until the power popped off for an hour, including cell reception! I guess something blew at a local power station - 6300 addresses without power - I didn't even know that many people lived in the area! Guess the outage crossed county lines.
But we had our lantern at the ready!
how very uncomfortable :(
More eerie than anything, I think. Our solar lights were still on, but that was the only light visible. I'm glad the power company got it fixed quickly - according to their recorded message, we would have had to wait two hours from now. We actually have a plug in land line phone for nights like these!
well prepared :)
It was only out about an hour. And, in the country, we have to be prepared, never know what's next.
laughing fence alert, but the short throwing spear is a phantom
hehe ;)
lol
sorry, couldn't resist
much appreciated, my first chuckle today
Morning chuckles are healthy!
true! I finished the attic yesterday. Am glad I made it. Today, more of the same in Caya's old room.
I am pretty sure asshat is a word
Wow, congrats! That's a lotta work. Cleaning to get ready to sell is such a pain. I don't want to ever do it again.
There are enough of them in our gov't here, I know it's a word!
it is not just the cleaning. We first need to get rid of about 80% of all our clutter. The realtor said houses sell better when people can see how much room there is. Roomy sells.
that is what they say, yeah. and smelling good is important.
bake an apple pie
Yep. My last house had more storage than I ever used. My 'now' house has zip in the storage dept and I hate it
baking apple pies, hursh? :D Might leave an apple pie on the table for the realtor and the possible buyers on look-days
And turn on all the lights
or burn an apple pie candle, much easier
hm yeah, true, hursh. Good idea
(I found the booze)

good luck with it, sprite! *hugs*
Don't overdo, Sprite! Have a good, productive, day!
*picks up sprite's hug* ooohhh nice and cosy...

does anyone have the "pirate name" URL>
sorry - that's not a grid question but it is something that's used for fun with a lot of Babble players & I need it for a birthday girl.
If you do a Google search on "pirate name generator" you will find lots of sites
Yes, I did that, thanks, Molly. I found lists of names but not the one where you put in your name and answer questions and it generates a pirate namr. I'll check again, though - thought someone might know
Try piratequiz.com
will do, thanks
That's IT - thanks, MollyL

Mr. Hawthorne's nickname is the last four letters of that word, for future reference. That clue gets used a lot here.

There is a Nigel Hawthorne, but the one being referred to is an American novelist famous for writing The Scarlet Letter

I'm watching the Kavanaugh hearings. They are full of drama and surprises.
harpjane, I tried ... but it's become a political circus of weapons throwing on both sides. I try to remind myself that historically, this has long been the way in governments such as ours, but it doesn't make it easier to accept.
today is reminiscent of the Anita Hill hearings. I know people who called in sick so they could watch them!
riveting! mystery, sex, drama, royalty, profanity
Yes, and like the Anita Hill hearings, the gravity of a woman attacked and harassed is buried under the avalanche of political accusations. If it's not the 'boys will be boys' excuse, it's the feigned outrage over 'political machinations'. I'm hoping for the best, but expecting the usual.
That said, just knowing you are keeping an eye on it all and finding it engaging somehow makes me feel better, harpjane :). {{{ hug }}}

Yes I now have it thank you, Ruru. I went through the chat log and saw a clue given about window frames. And got it from that.

Have not seen you do text type before, Ruru.

Much older th4 you though heh!
Born in 64?

Lots of terrific wine in 64
LOL
yEs and I am still whining!
Ha
I get the feeling you don’t drink alcohol though
Oh I used to drink a lot of stout and some wines. But since my brother passed away from drink I do not have much anymore.
I still have a beer now and again when the mood takes me though.
That would put a damper on it
Yeah it does. I am not silly about it though. My friends can drink when they are with me and I am fine with it. I just chose not to have too much.
Well it is 12:51AM so I had better retire for the evening. Nice to chat albeit brief, Ruru. Enjoy the rest of your night.
Night zooz
Sleep well
Still here, ruru?
Yes
How are you, Dylan, and Chelsea?
We are all good here. Chelsea is cured and thriving.
Dylan loves her
Yay! What a lucky girl! Thank you for rescuing her!
I get back just as much from her. I love her to pieces
She is a really great dog. And she is lucky to be alive
A win-win situation.
Truly
How is the bunny mansion?
Sadly my beloved Remy died in my arms Monday morning. He was only 5 yrs old.
Oh no
I am sorry
He developed a GI problem Sunday and abruptly worsened 15 minutes before he died. I am heartbroken. He was my shadow here--very bonded to me.
Five is young isn’t it?
Awful
Yes, 10-12 is expected lifespan. My sister has a 15 yr old rabbit.
so sorry to hear that scrab
Gulliver is 8 and doing well, he just isn't a cuddly bunny. He is very skittish. Soon I will rescue another bunny, or maybe 2 bonded rabbits.
Now I am crying again. Remy was special--he followed me everywhere, and jumped in bed with me.
I have to feedthe dogs. Take care
Awwww i understand that. It is the worst
The ones that get your heart are so painful to lose
Absolutely
i am sorry about remy, scrabller.
TY, Owl.
aww. lurking but so sorry to hear of your loss scrabbler
TY, circe. It is so hard to lose a beloved pet.
agreed, but thank you for being one of the brave ones willing to risk the loss and hurt for the gifts of love and companionship they give us. Rescuing is so important..great to hear you may adopt in the future too!
I have had 11 rabbits since 1983 and my last 4-5 have been rescues. Remy was going to be released into the woods because the woman had no time to take care of him. I will search local rabbit rescues for bunnies. A bonded pair would be nice to get.
that's just cruel, release them into the woods, people are so thoughtless
that is so beautiful to hear ( not the woods part) and I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding a great pair.
I was seeing her newborn in the office and I always inquire about pets in the home. As son as she said that I asked if I could have him. She said yes and I saved Remy from what would have been a swift death by a predator.
*soon
you are so kind hearted
I always want to rescue animals and kids and anyone in need of help.
i have been struggling seeing rescued NC pets brought to shelters here. a litter of kittens!
I fantasize about having a dog + cat + rabbits all happily bonded here.
Do you have the 8 or 10 or that lone n?
Or the lone g?
n = na5 = relating to birth
are you asking me? the twn is what store windows are made from
The 10?
yes
OK, I figured it out. pl10
good. i went to the doctor today and he told ne he is moving to the midwest. i was floored
Why is he moving?
sort of a pre retiement move.
i will miss him terribly. we were very compatiple in our views on health.
That is tough, to lose a doc that you trust and like
good opportunity. the practice has been through a lot of ahcnages lately. swallowed up by a huge conglomerate which i think was stressgul. they just broke away.
but as we age losing providers is inevitable. it's not like the old days when they delivered you and practically buried you.
Smart MDs retire ASAP.
huh?
Sadly, and scarily, the future of primary care will be delivered by NPs and PAs. That will be dangerous for us all.
Well, Owl, life as a primary care MD is very stressful. We are overworked and underpaid, so it is wise to get out early and enjoy retirement.
The practice of medicine is ruled by insurance companies and Big Pharma.
he is only 55 so moving to a corporate environment is a step in that direction. but he is very caring.
working for a huge health conglomerate did not suit him. it;s the jefferson health system out of philly
I am sure the decision was difficult for him.
i am glad he told me. with the other one, i got a letter after the fact.
24 years in that practice, he said he has become fond of his patients.
Yes, we do. I care deeply about my kids...even the teenagers.
i hope we can get my toe issue resolved. another xray today just in case a break was missed.
Ouch
ouchh is right. xrays, rest, cortisonne shot...then made contact with the leg of a chair in the fork bewteen last two toes.
38 left and I am done. Time to get into bed and read. Take care of that toe, Owl.
thanks and hang in there. see you tomorrow

I think the 5th column g is gh4/7 , g + a thing people wear on their heads
5th col o??? Seriously? Are you sure? You've been playing this game for eternity. I don't want you to hurt yourself, ya know, when you kick yourself.
For the o - take what the owl does & remove the first letter.
ty got the G

need the A in fourth column please.
yay!!!!! You knew the o, right?
also need the O bottom row, second column, and the N second column, third row. ty

mkg - your lucky streak has come to an end - that one I don't have, I still have 29 to go.
okay - that bottom o - just look at the letter that follow it & like magic, there's your word :)
its ok. what about the others? the O or N or A? if you dont have one of them maybe you have the others.
na5/10 is the Latin root of my real first name - but that's no help. Think infant, pre- & post-
brb
got na. ty
okay, I'm tired, good luck mkg
mkg, the bottom o is the plural of the greek drink which tastes like aniseed
the lone a is aal4/4
