a 9 for 96
Won't accept 'rasta.' Bummer
49 for 364 for tonight. Mas a manana. Buenas noches a todos...:)
anyone have stats for this puzzle?
Well Ive got to 191 in one sitting, so there must be HUNDREDS! I never get more than half >g<
thanks.
bigbirdboss, are you still here? What does your 9 start with, please?
The 9 starts with S
Bingo. I am "dancing" all around the room. I found the s9
OK, I have some stats. This puzzle scares me with at least 45 A words! :-o There are 378 words and I have lengths/starting letters for 372 of them: 7x8+ 21x7 60x6 118x5 166x4 45xA 24xE 18xG 33xH 7xi 15xK 31xL 14xN 13xO 27xR 90xS (!!!!!) 35xT 8xW 12xY If anyone finds more words in any category, please let us know! :)
good morning jlm. Those esses are amazing. I have been "essing" all morning. :) Thanks for the stats
Oh my ..... 378 words *falls over*
Only 40 more Ss to find *gulp*
That 9 is beautiful! And worth a lot more points with all the smaller words that go with it. :)
26 a's so far. I have decided to conquer the a's before I proceed any further.
I'm impressed claws! Only 16 A words here. I can't believe there are 45. :-o
Atalante, do you mean you have all words except 40 s's???
No!!!!!! lots and lots of word including 40 Ss :P
:) Too bad. I was ready to worship you!
If you really do detest buying things, I would say you could be called this. :(
anyone else see 1 year old in the top line????
Wish I could play today, but I have to leave on vacation in 2 hours, and I'm really not liking my chances of finding 378 words by then ;)
Though I'm over half way - thats good for me :P
morning! wow, I'm intimidated - long list today. at least i have a lot of free time.. and i'm always particularly partial to good K words!
Wow, I like that: particularly partial!
don't tease me, it's early for me here :)
*lol* It is worse: I was serious!
Ooh, a beautiful (though bad smelling) A8/70!
There is also an A/8/60 (that doesn't stink - it's a verb form) and I don't think the S/8/60 has been mentioned either. Both the A and the S 8/60 start from 5 letter words and add a suffix.
Yay, I finished a letter! It's only Ws, but it's good to have one out of the way. :)
my favorite color's in this one! and fun animals that aren't obscure fishies :)
Very sweet animals!
theres lots of chemicals ... :)
I don't think anyone's mentioned an i7/8 combo that I learned here a few months ago. From what I've gleaned so far, we have: A8-60 A8-70 i8-55 S8-60 S9-96
Krys - It's my favorite color too! Everyone always thinks I'm weird, but poo on them. :-D
And thanks for the i7/8 clue. That completes another letter for me!
Glad to be of service ;) gotta go, back in an hour.
Harry Potter fans will find Professor Moody in this grid. :-D
i have the S8 but I cant find the S9
Anyone have the a/8 for 60? its kind of linked to s9
Well, I finally have all the A's. Dang, they were a little tough today! Now, on to the rest of the puzzle!
well that only took hours. I seem to have 47xA. At this rate, I can be up to G by the end of the day!
Got the A8/60 and the S8/60, but cannot find that 9.
Right, got the 9 now. Thanks.
Could someone provide some hints for the 9 and the 8s? Thank you muchly.
The nine is similar to skipping, but you always keep the same foot in the lead. It is the act of doing this thing. Ballarinas and gymansts often do this in their dances/routines. It's a very common move.
So far I have 17 N words. With the 2 additional A words that parsec found, that leaves one starting letter still unknown.
This might not be politically correct but... as a hint for the s9... something that a very feminine person would do... such as across a stage...
could i get a hint for the i8 please
I'll provide a listing of the 7s and 8/9s I have so far, but I'm still missing several. Please feel free to add on. 8-60 A - a chemical word, to determine components of a substance 8-70 A - something your 4th grader might make of clay in art class. :-D 8-55 i - buries 9-96 S - to walk in a particular manner 8-60 S - not keeping to the set course 7-28 A - an avenging deity (or professor moody) 7-52 A - singular of 8/70 7-40 H - hurries 7-56 H - multiple mowings of long grass 7-40 i - bury 7-32 L - renting 7-28 R - pan for cooking large cuts of beef 7-52 S - related to 9/S 7-44 S - quotes 7-44 S - not leaving 7-40 S - tales (British spelling) 7-32 S - odd 7-32 T - a fruit 7-40 W - to engage in horseplay
E7 -- made of dirt
H-7/40 women of ill repute
7-40 S - tales (British spelling) Oh no ..... not right ;) Floors of a building maybe :)
You're right. It's a variant of ***** according to dictionary.com and I didn't look at which particular definition. I just guessed it could go to either. Thanks for catching it!
It helped me anyway. :)
I am pleased to announce that there are 34 H words.
he he nope - typical awkward British spelling :P
Thanks parsec. Just when I'd gotten to 33 H words! ;-)
I'll be back later 283 words 4.87 4069 I have all the A's, E's, T's W's Y's, I think, and about 28 S's to go, then to finish all the others
Could someone help me along with that W7? I think I have tried everything, but no 7. The horseplay clue is above me.
testing123--think about how a cowboy might describe it
Should I take that horseplay literally or more like fooling around?
fooling around
Is the S8/60 related to the S9/96 does anyone know
Treble. I have all parts of the s9, and I don't see any s8 60 with it
The horseplay word is a slang spelling of a word. Western-ish. i thought of it but didn't put it in at first because I thought it wasn't a "real" word.
Treble99 -- No they're different -- using JLMs definitions I would say the manner in which one walks is not the same way one wanders from the set course. HTH! ;-)
Im having trouble finding it
The s8/60 has nothing to do with the s9.
This is the most exhausting grid I've ever done! and the root of the S 8 60 is often used in reference to animals.
This W7 is driving me crazy! It is either a word I have never even heard of, or I am being extremely thick. Is it common?
Think of a men's sport and say it with a cowboy twang.
testing - I just can't see it either
I am having trouble with it too. I think of have the right sport but cannot seem to spell it with a cowboy twang that Babble will accept.
It rhymes with an h/6/27...
The W7 is an odd spelling of a sport.
ohhhhhh got it! Its also a 6 letter fish with an extra letter added in, if thats any help
Does the 9/96 have anything to do with the SL5/16
No, it starts with an S4/7.
There IS only one W in this grid, is there? The one in the corner down right? ;)
The 7 does not have the same 2nd letter as all your other W words.
jlm_mi, Is the 2nd letter of this elusive W word an R?
jlm_mi, Is the 2nd letter of this elusive W word an R?
Must be, but still it hides from me...
think about dancing or skippping or strolling along for the s9
YEAH! Okay, I will not deny I may be thick, but this word is completely new for me. Thanks to you all for your clues, hints and patience!
peri...wr is correct for the 7
does the W word end with an N
I still cannot find it :(
It doesn't end in N. I had the right sport in mind, but my mistake was I forgot this grid has a left side too, I only searched up.
There is an A7/40 as well, related to the A8/60.
The A7 is the one doing the A8.
Thanks! There is also a G/744 meaning "related to the jaw".
Would anyone please tell me what the W word ends in. I am getting a headache looking for it. I know I am on the right track.
Well if it makes everyone feel better, I can't find the a60. What do I know about animal walks LOL
ends in an e periwinkle
The 8/S/60 is not really related to walks. You could do it while walking, or driving, etc. The root word is used to describe some animals, but not how they walk.
oops, I meant the s60
Oh, sorry, you said the A60? That has absolutely nothing to do with walking. See my 11:43AM post.
THANK YOU everyone, finally got that stupid W word.
I don't have the a60 either.
There is an S/7/28 that is a particular type of unsaturated alcohol.
The A60 is an S6/30 with two letters added at the start.
And a T7/44, related to the word for a city in India.
By definition that T/7/44 is the land held by a ***** (a T5/16).
That is much better than my clue! Thanks, jlm_mi.
Hey - another S7/44! Found it the most stupid way, by mistyping another guess. No idea what it means. No definition either. Sounds a little like a small, british weapon used in WWII.
oh come on! on an urban note, let's allow thang. :D
Anybody mention the L 8 60 yet? Old word for long ago.
No, and I've been searching for one last L. Hopefully this will help me find it! :)
Oooh - found it! I thought it was two words, though. Learn something new every day. :)
OK, I'm sure I'm not the only one who still has many S words to find. I'm interested in comparing, but for that many words don't want to break it down too far. So, this is what I have: SA: 17 SH: 15 Si: 5 SL: 13 SN: 5 ST: 20 SY: 1 Anyone have more anywhere?
Thanks, testing, for that undefined S clue. It would have been so long before I got around to trying words like that!
I'm impressed that you got it from that! Any other clues, as it has me stumped? :) I suppose small British WWII weapons are not my specialty ;-D
I only have 45 S words, 45 more to go!
SA: 20 SN: 6 St: 22 looks like I have some searching to do in the middle.
I grew up with a gun-crazy brother. let's see, other clues...it sounds vaguely like a type of tiger, I suppose.
ARGGHHHHHH. That sa 60 is staring me right in the face.
What SA60? There is an 8/A/60 and an 8/S/60. But the 8/S/60 is not an SA word.
22 Sas, and it's time for me to head out. I feel bad about the tiger clue, it's really pretty misleading since only the middle of the word is the same, just can't think of anything better. good luck everyone! 354/4.87/5065
the tiger clue helped me get it, parsec!
It helped me too! I was trying to end it with L for a while after the tiger clue, but finally moved on and voila. :) Thanks!
Oh, and apparently the actual definition is that it's a British word meaning drink or cocktail. Is that true, Brits?
oh blah. It was a typo. I meant to write s8 60, not sa. I think I'm punchy.
Look at your S/5/16s and work from there. It rhymes with an S/7/44.
9 x SN
23 SA's
I have found 17 N's: 9xNA, 8xNE
344 words 4.92 5102 I have to go, so I won't get to finish today's puzzle. Good luck everybody!
'Halal' and 'ying' aren't valid words?
babble-S-stats SA ... 23 (10x4, 5x5, 5x6, 2x7, 1x9) SH ... 16 (5x4, 10x5, 1x6) Si ... 5 (3x4, 2x5) SL ... 13 (4x4, 7x5, 2x6) SN ... 9 (2x4, 4x5, 3x6) ST ... 23 (3x4, 7x5, 6x6, 5x7, 2x8) SY ... 1 (1x4) ===== 90 =====
shan is a word... :(
I think it's actually spelled "yin"
'Ashtanga'?
Thanks goforit! That's very helpful. :)
OK,I'm happy quitting for the night with 371/4.87/5279. Missing an A, some Ts and an H or 2, but I'm done. :)
so many words so little time.......
