hi everyone -- been lurking
no clue on that ad 7-8
ad + vowel + number cyber
It ends in a number, nan
wow! - monkeyed it should probably quit while Im ahead
ty anyway
110 down -- good night everyone
good morning all
brb, need coffee and am gonna turn the heater on, it is freezing in here
coffee, warmth and babble... my simple needs filled, how lovely life can be :D
Mornin' Sprite! We haven't even needed to light our heater yet - the coldest morning so far was one day at 66F. Usually we have to around mid-month, but it looks warm for the next 10 days - at least we'll save on propane! Hope you are getting warmed up!
all good here, I put on some extra clothes and turned the heater on but on a low setting, just to take the edge off.
*hugs Kam* How are you doing?
I had a good two days cooking...now I'm pooped out, and the dishwasher is full of clean dishes...and the sink is full of dirty pans. Stuff in the sink drives me nuts, so tomorrow is cleanup, lol! Too tired tonight, plus the stuff in the dishwasher needs to cool off before putting away
Are you feeling all better yet?
tomorrow is early enough, lol. Resting up and hopefully getting a good night's sleep in will do you more good than clean pans. I am good, not fully there yet but getting there. Less coughing, no fever, some energy to get things done again.
phantoms: judge and fudge and all those others
I've tried all of those too, lol!
lol :D
one of the great things of babble, one is never alone in anything!
yep - haha
am glad the darn flu is on its way out. I am crazy busy this month, from 16 through 24 away from home to various activities. In the week after, I only have an appointment with my therapist, lol, and big crossed through all other days.
crosses*
I hope it clears up completely - really soon! I was knocked flat for weeks - finally got my massage/chiro appt set, yay! My body needs it - I looked at the calendar - I'm 6 weeks behind schedule
it=that flu that bit you
ugh, no wonder you are in heaps in pain, dear one.
yeah, got that, grin. I hope so too. Have been ill for weeks too, so it should be gone by the end of this week. Am taking things easy, giving my body time to recover.
I shocked myself when I called for the appt - my calendar was still marked on the first week of Oct. I hate getting knocked down that hard! I'm still not back - Michael told me tonight he's "out of jeans." I asked why he didn't tell me before..."because I knew you weren't feeling well." He is so sweet and understanding!
he is a sweetheart, isn't he! Maybe teach him to use the washing machine :) If ne4 be, he can make sure he has a few clean jeans.
He doesn't invade "my" territory - and the laundry area is pretty much MY area - I use the top of the washer for drying herbs, so I would have to go rearrange everything for him anyway. I don't mind doing the laundry - he does so much other stuff.
He would manage just fine if I was completely laid up. I just have to keep up with him!
here I strongly discourage my beloved to do laundry. He is absolutely hopeless when it comes to sorting it. I mean... how hard is it to sort reds, blacks and whites? But he merrily keeps them together.
I rearranged his tshirt drawer a few weeks back and told him that was the LAST time...- and last week I had a full load of tshirts and the ones I had just refolded were all wadded up again...I tell him to put his own shirts away now...not refolding what I already folded, lol!
good for you!
today we will sign the contract with our buyers!
Yay! That's great news! And a new adventure in life begins!
very true. It may still go wrong, mind, if they cannot get their mortgage. But I have the feeling it will all work out.
which reminds me... want to read through the whole contract before going in. Right after babble!
I don't think your realtor would bring an unqualified buyer
especially because they already enlisted their own realtor, and he has vetted them before even bringing out their bid. So chances are, the mortgage giver will be happy too.
The paperwork here is crazy - this is the third place I've owned, and I don't really want to go through selling and moving on again. But, we're talking about leaving California.
I remember you saying that, yes. Political climate, right? :(
Buyers are usually prequalified here, especially if they're working with their own realtor.
Yeah, politics suck.
here, it is almost the same, but a mortgage giver can still refuse, for whatever reason.
Michael is working the local precinct tomorrow for the election...he has to be up at 5 and is still wide awake. I don't know how he can manage on less than 5 hours sleep, but he just keeps on truckin'
he is a true hero :)
He really is. I can't imagine all he has been through...but it seems that PD and fibro have a lot in common. I met a psychologist from England who was misdiagnosed with fibro...and just found out last year that it is early onset PD. We've talked a lot about symptoms.
imagine being misdiagnosed and -treated like that. Must have been tough.
fireflies. Nice grid.
What scares me is that the one supplement that helps me the most with the fibro is the natural l-dopa - mucuna puriens. After meeting him and knowing what doesn't work with my body and what does, and family history of tremors...I get scared.
WTG! I finished up before you posted about signing papers...have a lovely day, my dear!
*hugs Kam and WTG!!!!!* what is your fear, darling?
I'll email tomorrow.
okay :) Luvsya. Will hold you in my thoughts and prayers, as always. *leaves hug in chog for rose to find* And to you all, a blessed day and a peaceful night.
Hey, Americans - I'm sure you don't need reminding, but go out and VOTE today, if you've not already done so.
Find out where to vote: Vote.org See what's on your ballot: BallotReady.org
I have to second Matty’s comment. PLEASE all you Americans, goo out and vote. Though probably no Babbler needs reminding.
Jude
VOTE! lt's the only way to combat lies, fear and racism!!
Vote as if your life depended on it, because your life may depend on it.

Hello Molly
I have a friend in Australia who adopted a dog namedMolly and she changed it to >>>Mollee! Why?
lf i had had a daughter i/o a son, she would have been named Molly Reed Kelley
Molly Kelly, it doesn't get more Irish than that : )
I'm from the South Shore of Nassau county. I'll get around to resizing!
Tell me what you guys see?

the size is normal, yes orange background.
Cool, thanks
Going to vote Blue for the sake of Democracy. Then going out on the stump to urge more voting.
You're the best, scrambler.
I feel like I have been living a nightmare since the last election. I am still in shock and horrified that my country would allow this racist to run our country
soot
fingers crossed and Get out the Vote. Ride the blue wave to sunshine!
Racist. Misogynist. Narcissist. Moron. Failed businessman. Egotist. Shirker.
Happy U.S. Voting Day! Vote Early! Vote Often!
Exactly, and I hope they impeach Kavanaugh if we get in , sorry but he is a racist rapist and is sitting on the Supreme Court.
Happy babbling!
Ditto! :)
Double ditto!! My son has been working for Beto
People, please stop the electioneering. I know at least two people here who are upset about it. (I know because I upset them and they knew people who left Babble because of it. This should be a place we can ALL be free to relax and enjoy the play and the chat and not be afraid to look over on the right side (no political pun intended) and find anger and disparagement that may equal theirs. End of rant. I love you all.
Good Morning. Gray and Raining here but I Voted!!!
You shouldn't talk about raining to a Californian unless you're going to ship us some of that lovely water, periwinkle!
And a grand good morning to you, too.
I will do my best to send some rain your way, jwr
i concur about the electioneering, jwr.
hi mark. Thanks for the backup. I hate to criticize anything on Babble; it always hurts someone's feelings. I have a feeling I might have to turn off the chat for a few days, though.

Hi becky. Is that the Welsh icon
hello friends! Voting day here in the US - get er done!
Yes, it's the Welsh Flag! :)
that is a great pic becky!
And Trifioso is right too. You are the aesthetic winner today, becky'
becky does indeed win the internet today!
Though I have to admit that when the flag design is so small and my eyes are so old . . . it looked to me the first time I saw it like a Christmas present.
Aww, thanks!
Yay! Haha, hope everyone is well :)
just fine here - hoping everyone votes!
I would be if I was there!
Becky are you an American?
Originally/yes :) born and raised there and have now lived in Wales for 10 years!
im such a pest about it....lol
becky, if you don't mind me asking, how has the transition to Welsh living been for you? Are expats welcomed in Wales?
I spent many years in ireland, as an american, so I wonder how other expats fare....
It's all good! :) haha! How was Ireland with you? It's been great for the most part to be fair! Obviously I'm only 24 now so I had moved here when I was barely just 13 which was a big 'holy crap!' of a transition but loving it more and more the longer I'm here! :)
Everyone is really lovely about it! Almost too nice! Haha! (In the sense that the Welsh are nice nosy and very chatty! lol) so good! Feels like home! :)
I feel]
I feel]
Oops!
ah, my experience was an adult, after I married an Irishman, so rather different - you had to be a "new kid" -- dread!!!! For the most part we were okay, there was one summer when my son wore a bathing suit he got at Old Navy that had an american flag pattern, and someone threw rocks at him on the beach, when he was maybe 12, which REALLY vexed me. I'm sorry you don't like Americans, sir, but did you really need to throw rocks at a CHILD? The last time I was in Belfast, about two years ago, I bought some petrol, and the cashier took my credit card, and refused to give it back until she tore me a new one over trump. I tried to explain that I was NO trump supporter, but she didn't care. SHe wanted/needed to rant, and she did
I miss many things about Ireland - the family and friends I had, the lovely shops (OMG Monsoon for ever!!!!!)
The weather though? Not so much
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear they did that! :( some people can be so crummy! As you said, I dealt with being the new kid which was so weird! But I have a thick skin and I'm loud so it wasn't hard to make an impression of the happy person I am! Lol. And of course now, I am with a wonderful Welsh man whom I love dearly and we have our own home and 2 cats! So that with now driving and working in the restaurant, it's just... home! :) I feel like I could hand out FaQ's in work though! Haha. People are always so sweet about it but my god they *all* ask the *same* questions day in day out! Haha, they don't mean bad by it, it's nice but a lot lol
Even though I know my accent has been dampened down over the years, I still sound really American to Welsh people so they all ask 'ahh! So where you from then? Why'd you move here? How long have you been here?' etc etc
Also, I get the same sometimes too with customers, no matter how many times I tell them I have lived here for 10 years they still want to bash me about Trump or Americans in general and it drives me insane! Lol
Sorry, that was much longer than I anticipated! <3
becky... i've been living in Cardiff for just over a year but have been in the UK for nearly 18.. but people are still picking my aussie origin and i get the same questions too... why do you want to live here..etc...
Hey Rolin! Oh my gosh, it's so nice to share this sentiment with someone! You feel me! Haha!
It's day in, day out, literally everywhere I go and always the same questions! As I said, it can be nice but I just wish some people weren't so bothered by my accent sometimes lol they're always fascinated!
Try being a Brit in France. The French consider british cooking to be the worst thing in the world (most stems from school exchange in England where they discovered fluorescent frozen peas, and jelly). The French are ruthless if they find out you're British. Even some of my closest friends still do it, and don't understand why I get annoyed. And going through school here was horrible, as it would come up most days at lunch.
Ugh! Yeah, I thought my transition was bad but I can imagine the French being a millions times worse!! :( hahaha. My oh my!
Most times I won't mention I'm not French, as they can't tell from my accent (I was 9 when my family moved here)
(although due to Brexit I now have dual nationality, so technically I AM French)
I like it! Sometimes that's just easier. I make the joke that there are some phrases I've picked up, especially certain words that sound very Welshy! (Lovely, lush etc) and I go quite Welsh when I'm pissed off! Haha. But unfortunately in a general setting I still stick out like a sore thumb!
Everyone adapts to new cultures at different rates. I actually new a French guy, born around here. He'd traveled around a bit, US, Japan, etc. For some unknown reason, he now speaks French with an American accent (you usually only pick up a new accent in the one language)
omygod, I've been in the UK 30 years and I STILL get the same questions and trot out the same answers (no, I'm not originally from here - I'm originally from NY but i've been here 30 years now. Nope, don't now what xyz is like in the US - 30 years. Yep, I know where Wiltshire is, remember, 30 years?)
30 years !? you're more British than I am French
Yes Matt!!! You hit the nail on the head! I can't believe that you still get it too! I forgot about that but I get that question too! "Aww, you probably don't know where it is but we're from xyz!" and it's 30 mins down the road -.- haha!
Yep - since August 1988, married in October '88 (separated in October 2012 and divorced 2 years later, but that's besides the point). And yes, I love it here. Yep, been here all my adult life, and no, I don't know where to drink in NY - left before I was 21 (I spent a year in Germany before I got here)
And I get that too "oh wow!!! What do you recommend in Seattle!?" I don't know man!! LIVED HERE SINCE I WAS 13!! I haven't had the chance to go back since (but am planning a trip next year!) and its like they expected me to have been there yesterday!
"Why in the world did you come here"...'married an Englishman. Not this one; I traded up"
I too have dual nationality (American/UK) - have voted in the US, and may renounce (because filing taxes every year is a bitch)
Oh my gooooosh, it is genuinely so nice to share this with you guys!! <3 I didn't know anyone else was getting it like me! Haha! Thanks for sharing everyone! :) xo
Hello matty, buggle, and becky.
Hey, Scrabbler!
And are you still here, rolin?
Hey :)
Hiya!
Yeah also: 'no, I don't miss NY.' 'yes, there are things I miss (decent plumbing, wide roads, big washing machines). And yes, I really hate British plumbing, but love most everything else (apart from Brexit)
Love it! Haha! Same same same!
I'm almost afraid to ask, but what is it that I don't know about British plumbing?
Visiting the UK is on my bucket list, not the tourist places, but the countryside.
You might be unlucky there Scrabbler as there are so many houses being built on greenfield sites.
Come to Wales, Scrabbler! It's beautiful!
Scotland is too.
Scotlands on my list! :)
A wonderful craggy country.
Someday...my mother is 87 and I cannot leave the country. She gets upset if I travel 6 hrs away for a week.
One day :) <3
Plenty of time later for travelling.
Yes.
What a shame that the word egg is there without an s.
I think the British plumbing thing is the seperate taps for hot and cold. I don't think any other country still has that. I hate that too.
That and water pressure. Cold water tanks (rather than everything from the mains). The kitchen sink draining into a hole outside which gets clogged with leaves....
Do you know if newly installed plumbing still has that?
Where in Wales are you, Becky?
We can get mixer taps now but grew up with separate taps. Never saw it as a problem because it was all we had.
That's what I was going to say about the plumbing, too! The only thing that really annoys me. Literally everywhere you go is dual taps and it drives me nuts. Just combine them!! They don't need to be separate!
Most people would have mixers, I think.
cold water tanks? That's something I've never come across, though admittedly my experience in the UK is limited.
We moved into a fairly new house (it's about 10 years old) and they are like that and you have to spend a butt load for a new sink.
Also, I'm about 20 minutes from Swansea, Matty! :)
I read somewhere that the seperate taps were because of the hot water not being drinkable due to the old heating tanks. So it was to avoid poisoning yourself when drinking from the cold tap. Not sure how true that is
Hi Haz!
That's what I heard to but it seems like such an old wives tale now. Britain is so old fashioned! Pros and cons included of course.
Hello, Scrabbler!
morning, troops
On that note, I unfortunately have to get ready for work everyone! Thanks for the wonderful chat! <3 have a nice day everyone! :)
Hello, welki.
Hi everyone....just been following the chat, with some interest, now am beginning to feel like I live in a third world country.....because we're so backward!!
Hi Haz!
Is your blood pressure rising, Flask?
I feel very defensive!
You better believe it, yours too?
Who knew plumbing would have me annoyed?
Welki, how are you recovering?
Oh France has plenty of bad things too. The French prefer to have the toilet in a (tiny) seperate room. Having worked in a hotel here, there are a lot of complaints about that lol - they do have mixer taps though ;)
Not really annoyed, just a bit touchy. Nobody UN's down our tap arrangements...
I hope there wereno plumbers here at the time!!
I remember being traumatized by flush and run loos in France.
slowly, scrabs. i have an appt friday to have this cast replaced, will find out more about my progress then. surgery has wreaked havoc on blood glucose levels and the inactivity isn't helping. other than that, i'm great :)
(however the tiny toilet room doesn't always have a sink in it, so you often have to open the door and go wash your hands in the bathroom if it's next door, or the kitchen...)
What's separate taps compared to that? (Righteous indignation font)
I'm typing on my tablet and it's horribly slow and doing autocorrect which I hate.
We should bring back "Pulling the plug"....and that would really confuse n upset them....lol
I know!
Oh, welki. You have type 2 DM?
es clue pls?
Back later, enjoy the grid!
yep
Low, low carb...and do you know anyone with an arm pedaling machine?
Bye, Haz.
bye Haz!

best of luck on your elections today american babblers
oh.. on the west side?
bonkler, our choices are bad and worse.
the voting site I go to was mobbed today
Yes, ruru, in Reseda. They sent photos from Santa Monica Beach from Sunday.
as a long time watcher of american politics, it is a bizarre spectacle to be sure.
nice
so many great restaurants near him
I vote at a lodge in a park, about 1.5 miles of hiking from here.
bonkler, it is embarrassing.
I do my voting by mail
so much easier.. and mistake free
Where I go, there are a bunch of little old ladies with baked goods, and a fireplace roaring.
i think that with the advent of social media and online echo chambers, the easy dissemination of persuasive lies that democracies around the world are facing unheard of challenges. with the sheer power of force that america wields, it's more terrifying for her neighbours, allies and enemies. the trump era will go down in history as one of the strangest and most dangerous shifts in the presidential history books
I can see that.. and we thought George Bush JR did enough damage.. little did we know
I think the Republicans pushing Kavanaugh in .. is going to come back to haunt them for a long time
baked goods and a fireplace would draw me in scrabs
No politics here Bonkers
says who ?
Yes, I will bring a book and read next to the fire for a bit.
that sounds nice
I just got a new book to get started on next weekend

nothing but US eletions on TV -- even our ca networks. I can relate to scrabbs' comment.
no curling on tv?
we are currently having a mail in referendum on the way we vote in BC. Retain 1st past the post or proportional representation. As the actual form proportional representation would be decided by a backroom committee after the vote has decided, I'm calling the choice as being between "keep what we have" and "doest the government really think I'm that stupid?{".
