i was mis-spelling it hurshy. i left one vowel out. i never ever could spell........never got A's in spelling........sorry
I actually tried that word without the middle vowel too.
lol
tis confusing since there were popes named it if you spell it that way
indeed. It always reminds me of my latin classes... that is where I learned what an epiteton ornans is. As in P**** Aeneas.

hello everyone
hiya ru *hug* How are you today? Is it boxing day now for you guys?
it was cooking day for me mostly :D
ah! What did you cook
?
three salads.. (arugula/pear/pomegranate) Beet with orange segments and a dark balsamic dressing and a watercress shrimp and grapefruit salad
ohhhh that must look so beautiful, great colour combinations. And sounds yummy as well.
Main course was Prime Rib with steamed Veggies, Rosemary roasted potatoes, carrots with Shallots, chicken stock and fresh Thyme and baked yams with an amaretto crust
then we had tons of desserts (not me)
good grief. That is some serious eating. Lovely menu.
big crowd and mixed group.. I was cooking all day
I am sure it was appreciated
yep.. I'm glad things turned out.. there was other stuff but that's the main menu
love it. Think I am gonna hide in your place and steal some food next year :D
the salads were a huge hit
they sound beautiful and tasty
crashing. Just home from nightshift, right onto babble... looks like I am gonna take a little nap after finishing :)
night then sprite.. see you soon
night ru! *hug* And have a lovely day
I have a setting on my car aircon that says "demist" enable says it is not a word ?
Are you sure that part of the car didn't come from a non-English-speaking country, ursh?
Demist is used in UK cars.
I always try to enter it.
Hmmm. Are you sure it's 100% UK? They could be using Belgian bolts and Danish Demist.
Pretty sure. I lived in the UK much longer than I’ve lived here.
Just googled demist - British word.
OK. Just funnin'. I just came back from an annual sojourn to the New Asia Restaurant - huge place, seats 2,200 - to listen to four brilliant stand-up comics perform the Kung Pao Kosher Komedy. It was a blast.
That sounds like fun.
That's good Liz. Now we know Enable is not all its cracked up to be. .... but, it's all we've got. *sob*
I should be used to enable now - words it accepts, those it doesn’t and as for multiple spellling of Yiddish words ...
It was fabulous fun. Lots of Yiddish words!
😊
ha
I’ll gave to google Kung Pao Kosher Comedy. Sounds a blast.
Perhaps I’ll find a clip on YouTube.
I don't know if you realize it's an American Jewish tradition to eat out in Chinese restaurants on Christmas day. Started because everything else was closed.
I’ve seen that. Good tradition. I spent the day cooking.
Let me know if you find one. I doubt it. This was mostl an older crowd and I didn't see any phones being held uup - but that doesn't mean anything.
Will do
What did you cook up?
Yes there are YouTube clips.
Fish balls, pita, granola.
I never thought to look myself. Thanks a bunch.
I never thought to look myself. Thanks a bunch.
I did a straight google, then selected videos.
Sounds tasty AND healthy, great combination. Shame to spend Xmas day cooking, though. hm. Guess I never thought to look ... twice.
Well we did use our pool too.
Unhealthy cooking tomorrow. Biscuits. Family arriving at the weekend.
Now I'm torn. Got to start Babble soon or fall into bed. ..... oh the pool, eh. I've almost forgotten what one uses a pool for. Hope you had a lovely day, though.
Relaxing - but it’s nearly 7pm on 26th now!
I was kidding you earlier but demist is a totally logical word, unlike some that get any old prefix stuck on.
I realised you were joking but I was interested in the fact it’s a UK word. We don’t use defog in the UK. Or here either I think.
Yes, it is relaxing. And as far as exercise goes, the Best! You get twice the results for half the effort.
OK. Made up my addled mind. Going to bed - it's just on 1am and I've been up since 7am. Yawn. Got to get at least one night's rest before New Year's comes along. Nice chatting with you,
Sleep well.
Ta Liz. Next time. Bye..
I'm not getting on well with this grid at all - nothing bigger than a six, and only one of those. Is it my post Christmas addled brain?
I have a CO 7 / 40 & A ST 7/36 Have 63 left.
Just starting on the F
CO 7 is a large quantity.

Oh Matty, so close

I was blind to that bottom D when looking
For the un4 I meant.
l tried that, too, but thinking of garment. Maybe it needs an s...…………….
If you are wearing a bra and underpants, you are wearing undies. If you are wearing the bra only, you are wearing an undie. Works for me.
Mabe we could co6 a horror stoyR about the un6
HAHA
Charming idea for the holidays, Ruby. : D
Me too :) I've actually written a drabble (a 100 word short story) about that (un6)...sort of
https://drablr.com/mattygroves/drabble\n/bjz-salvation
or a porn story about undies under the tree
It was based on a dream Jeff had about zombie Jehovah's Witnesses.
That's a scary idea! 5They are even here in France and are alqays surprised when l recognize them for what they're doing. There's even a Kingdom Hall
or a story about un- Jehovah's Witnesses in undes. Hoq creepy is that?
Jeff dreams about zombie Jehovah's Witnesses? A shrink would have a field day with that. : D

it was a reference to the fact that I never did get the turkey cooked yesterday; I made it all this morning; hence if you are in my neighbourhood there is fresh cooked and yummy turkey.
if I lived in qualicum.. I'd be right down :D
well at least I got one taker. even if a would-be taker. hello to you ruru
yay first tray of cookies in the oven for the Boxing Day party later.
what kind of cookies? can I come over?
just chocolate chip. this time with no cinnamon, which i usually put in. I also used 3/4 whole wheat and 1/4 cake flour. We'll see how that works out.
THAT sounds wonderful!
I used the Baker's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe from Kraft Canada, as that's my favorite, even though i change it up a bit.
those recipes always used to be super reliable -- glad they still are
i first got the recipe from Bakers Chocolate Chips bags, but i can't find those here anymore, and when i do, no recipe on the bag. Yay internet.
phantom ocean
you bet, yay! internet. o/w I would gladly send secret canadian recipe to you
:)
i had family in Montreal and Brossard, QC growing up. I was very confused the first time i saw a store that said The Bay instead of La Baie. LOL
first tray looks good. i'll move them to the racks in o moment.
LOL for sure, big time. We have sure both had strange knowledge of The Bay. Where I grew up, the Bay was a shacky type of place that was full of furs coming in and tinned goods going out. That was at Great Slave Lake, NWT, Canada, a while back...
LOL That makes sense for up ther.
there.
hello everyone :)
hi saan -- power restored?
hello, nan
lol - forgot about la baie - used to shop at morgans
:)
last tray of cookies in oven. Then i can clean kitechen, bathe, and dress for party and get going. Yay!
i remember bags and boxes from Morgans.
it was a much better store before the bay bought it out -- i liked to time my visits for 4:00pm when the piper would be playing
nice!

Hey guys, I just want to apologize for any problems I cause in the past. I was trying to help, and I ended up making things worse. I apologize. I was naive then, I know better now. I hope those of you who were mad at me can find a way to forgive me. Thanks. And sorry for the disruption, I needed to say this.
ty molly
ty molly!
and good job Hannah with your apology
I had to create a new account, because my old one got discontinued. And it won't let me log in now. But, you may know me as MehNameIsHannah.

If you are talking about me, I apologized for what I've done in the past. Like I said before, I was naive then. I know better now. I hope you can find a way to forgive me for what I've done. I understand if you can't.

i'm back to the in 6-7 again -- help please?
which 6-7?
*!*~*!* hagd everyone :)
you too Nan!
cyber, do you have the op 5 that's a drug? if so, substitute in + a consonant for the op. Then plural for the in 7.
oops, i'm too late. Congrats cyber!
PastorJ, the op5 that I tried is a drug, but its not working
the one I'm thinking of isn't in the puzzle
it is, but perhaps in a different form than the one currently in media headlines. the one ending in -oid is the adj form of the noun and means the drug is made with op5.
thanks, but I'm still confused
little hard to give more info without just giving the word itself
its okay, I'll try to figure it out later
Ever read Sherlock Holmes? He would regularly visit op5 dens
no sorry
haven't read any
I researched that, and found it thanks
good! Sherlock Holmes stories are great to read BTW
so I've heard, I might check it out some time, after I get through all the books I own lol
there is actually an epidemic of the -oid going where I live, I don't really read much newspapers/magazines or watch the news, I only know it from people talking about it so much about it being an epidemic around these parts
Sorry, Hannah - stepped away for a bit and didn't see your question! Glad NatashaW helped you out!
its alright PastorJ, I understaned
understand
hello 145 to go. I hope everyone had a satisfactory yesterday....
thanks jane

ooo..ok
ty for clue. got it finally. terrible word. never heard of it
me niether
looking for the ex 8. any clues? ty
the dictionary says its an adjective that means obsolete
ex8 most of the way out, themn there is a p word meaning very religious - use that but change the P to another consonant
great clue, lynxxx - thanks.
yw
well i got the first par, but then how do i get to the P?
use the p5 word meaning very religious
perhaps read my original clue again
pi5/14 shes talking about
from the ex, how do i get to the P? that is where i am failing. the P 5 uses the three vowels. that is my issue
mkg, there is no P. Use a different consonant :)
lynxxx's clue state to replace the P
the ex is not near the p at all.
mkg, do you have pi5/14?
to get from the x to the p requires that is use the d and i. but if i use the i, i cant make the religious word. if i go ex and then de, i must then use the c to get there.
i have pi 5 14. yes
replace the p with another consonant
as stated in lynxxx clue - REPLACE the P
perhaps it is exwaso and then i get to the p. or it is exdeco to the p.............
i have to go pee
there is no p in the word
i totally missed the replacing the p. sorry.
exclude the p entirely
lol Knight
ok got the 8. whew that was tough.
hey mkg do you remember me?
ty all cluers.
can someone clue the pi5 we are all talking about
synonym for holy

ty
It's a great word. I'll try to use it in a sentence some day. It sounds like a skin condition though.

I wanted to use a ni10 word
ugh someone's car alarm keeps going off every little bit, it was kinda interesting at first, but now its really annoying ughhh
ugh i read two clues and cannot get either word....happy boxing day all
Happy Boxing Day to you too, temple. I'm not very far in yet, but which clues do you need? Maybe I can reframe...
its boxing day?
well i'll tskr thr 10. i am an overnight guest and do not want to sit here all night babbling.
Hi Owl
hi lyn
BBL it's going to be hot today so I had better get things done early
good to see you, lynxxx. Stay co4!
i am freezing here. and it's probably bout 36F
it's 6 c.
send that heat here
Brrrrrrr, TO. We have 40F here, so chilly.
well that's 43F.
it's that time when the sun is going down, gets cold of a sudden.
lol! Ah, yes, put me in that category of uneducated U.S. citizens who can't convert! (sad, so sad, but true)
heck , neither can i, the weather channel converts. aside from 32F being 0c. i have no clue.:)
My beloved husband does it in his head, easily. But he's lived and studied in Europe... plus, he's mathematically inclined, where I'm better with words.
for F to C subtract 30 and divide by 2 (approximates) so 40F is about 5C
Sure, KnighTime... Mr. Brains. My husband has told me that formula a bunch of times, but ...... I think my brain malfunctions when it sees a math problem. lol!
KnightTime, you must have a math brain too!
anyone care to clue the 10?
(And a brain for words too - rare!) Sorry, I don't have the 10 yet.
but does he have common sense CH? :D
Ah... ruru, that would be the perfect trifecta if he did! lol!
i am sitting here freezing and having an allergy attack. as a guest, i cannot say a word. perhaps i will drive somewhere to get into a warm car.
allergic to fragranced candle
TO, you should definitely ask if you can turn up the heat in your bedroom. Chances are they keep the heat down not realizing that guests get cold. Hope you will say something ... and put that candle into a bottom drawer until you're ready to leave. Warm hugs to you!
central heat.
one zone
ty ch
Oh. :(
nordic people don't feel the cold
a trip to the mall may be in order.
LOL! Sounds about right. My stepdad was Norwegian and would happily work outside in sub-zero weather without a coat. My husband is Swedish, and the same way!
Has the 10 been clued yet? If not, could someone please?
ni 10.. somewhat similar to silly or unbelievable that usually begins with RI
maybe raise the temp in the house TO.. it's easy to do
got it! thanks, ru!
TO, let me know if you need a different clue. It's a toughy.
got it, ty ch
aecium
thanks, to! I didn't have that one... I think there are Christmas dinner leftovers in the penalty box. The wine is gone, though.
Hello Babble Friends :-)
i'm learning some new words today.
Hi Soodle!
Hi CH ((())) and a very Happy New Year to all. (Can’t believe the ‘Hannah’ person is still trying to fool us.
Well, we've all been doing a good job of non engaging, so I hope that continues.
hello everyone. I hope we are all well fed and happy with left overs today.
what leftovers?
I take it your meal was a success then. Well done
We went to my sister's an hours drive away and I left my purse there so we have to go back to get leftovers tomorrow
Hi Bugsaw! We had a fun, festive feast with assorted meats and cheeses, fruits, excellent wine, and decadent desserts instead of the traditional sit down dinner. It was just the two of us, and great fun!
Will continue with the Hannah non engagement, but will give that Babbling Bugsaw a massive hug!! Hey Hun(((;)))
Your icon is especially appropriate given your comment about leftovers, Ruru! lol!
Glad you had a good time ch1212. It can be hard to make it feel like a feast when there are only 2
Tomorrow our other siblings are coming for a leftover meal. It could become a tradition so noone had to eat turkey in some form for every meal for weeks.
We called daughter and opened gifts over the phone, so it felt a bit like she was there. I love your new tradition of the leftover meal with everyone.
I am being paged by Mr Bugs. Happy Babbling to everyone
and hugs all round
{{{{ hugs }}}}
medius
okay, okay TO... I'll put the wine back into the penalty box for you...
bbl -- time for late lunch.

Okay, i could use a litte extra help with the 10. My monkeys aren't working.
Also, i dont have the 8. (Sigh)
NI 10 is Ni 4/5 before it + Brit way of spelling a word for red, green, blue etc but with a different last letter.
EX 8/75 is an obsolete word for distinguished; eminent; excellent.
I totally monkeyed that one...thanks for definition, zooz
Nice one, Champfit!
No one was more surprised than I was!
:-)
Got it this a.m. Back for last 7
Well I am about to retire for the evening. i am so tired tonight. Congrats for when you finish, ChamFit!
Happy babbling everyone!
Have a good one, zooz!
Reading back in the chat, there must be something in the air. My son left his wallet here yesterday, so he had to come back today. : D
Surely he did it intentionally? (didn't read back in the chat)
:)

Oooooh! Scary!
Good morning, all.
Thanks for little clue boost, Molly - finally got it!
pi 7/40 pls?
it's a forming adjective of the pi4, if that helps...
It does - thanks. Along with the fact that I just got the ti 7 from an earlier clue.
Fireworks.
Any clues needed before I go?
congrats, liz!
Thanks
Guess not - have a good day / evening everyone.
What's your holiday movie for a good cry? Mine is Family Stone.
And sometimes Love Actually
hi lizlin! Love actually is one of my favorite movies EVER!!!
The writing, acting, directing hit every note perfectly in that one, Trif!
And i will NEVER forgive Alan Rickman's character for giving the necklace to that SKANK over his lovely wife.
Ah yes, Professor Snape and Professor Trelawney in Harry Potter, married in Love Actually!
clue for ci5/24 please? I feel like I'm monkeying the same letters over and over
ci 5 is like the watch that keeps ticking
oh for ........ thanks, ru! (Slaps self with a rainbow trout)
And that's it for me. Have fun all! Happy Boxing-Day-After-Christmas-December 26 to all and to all a good night!
I'm finding such irony in the fact that Ru left out the "it takes a licking" of the keeps on ticking slogan. That's all I can say. : P
stats for the 8 please?
ex8.75 - unusual word
ex 8/75 it uses today's usual ending
thanks, i'll work on it!
wow - def. not an everyday word! thanks!
One of those words you will probably only see here. The Enable guys love them.
no way could I have finished this grid without morewords - so many newbies to discover.. ciao till next time, poof.
Hello, 129 to go

firewords! thanks ch1212, lickety, Molly and all cluers.

congratulations dan!
Clue for ni10?
Firewords! Thanks, everybody!

I do not have a mansion, a yacht, or a string of poloponies.

love the definition!
a word that describes some birds and some young adult humans
I've been skiing in the polomonies
poloponies, that is.

FINISHED! VERY EXCELLENT! Lots of neologisms today!
to be strict, these words have been around since ca.2000 so not neologisms :P conga-rats nevertheless!
less than 20 years old? I think they still qualify. After all, Enable is more derelict than that in its tech vocabulary,
and my felicitations, godthaab
(googling neologism....)
What? You would take Google's opinion over mine???
Google is...a...a neologism!
found some flightless birds
are they neologisms, jane?
nope but they are delicious!
oh, that's awful. If they're flightless you don't even have to hunt them
I'm not sure if I've found any or not -- I have 44 left and I'm monkeying - don't have definitions for most of what I'm finding!
de5? any of them?
not sure, I'll check
Nope. The one I didn't have a definition for doesn't have a definition in Enable either. Going to google.
(1) The word I was looking for is obsolete. That's about par for Enable. (2) But it was a da word anyway. Now I shall go track down ... very very softly ... the de word.
lo7?

Hi Rose! Hope you had a lovely Christmas! I'm at a friend's place...no keyboard...

hi all, 101 to go
need clue for so7,28...
nm got it!!
how weird is that phenomenon (the minute you break down and ask for a clue, you suddenly see it)
it's stepping away from logic to intuition perhaps
:-D got my first 7
mine are more like socks in the washer: I put two in my head at once, and can only pull one out if I leave it in more than a second.
sometimes you hunt fruitlessly for a long time, then stop and do something else, then come back and like magic, you see more words
halfway done woot
Exactly, TallMike - I absolutely knew I had put two in ,,, but I guess it was only one.

there are Words for those, I've only seen them once or twice so I'm not going to recall them, but they seemed to fit what happens in Babble.

YAY! FLYING DOG!!!! :-)
I have a puppy again! Hold on, will put a pic in my profile.
ex 8 is first three of the word for leaving + the word for small rodent without the end and with an i thrown in
ex8 + two dot letters with a consonant in between them + adjective ending
You have a puppy!!?
So cute!
well drat. I cannot get it to load. He's three now, a wonderful rescue mutt -- part golden (I was told), part shepherd, possibly part chow or pit. A soft mouth for a shepherd, a lot more independent than a lab... LOL he's smarter than the average third grade teacher, that's for sure!
Oh, and he's a red-head. ;-)
I saw a pic of him... it was really large and sideways, but I could see him. He's very handsome! Smart dogs are the bane of my existence. And the joy.
His name is Wally. Or Wallace Walls of Walltown on formal occasions. He owns me.
:-) I am glad you could see the pic. I'll go back to the other one then, so I don't bog down the servers.
Oh wow! My first frisbee dog was named Wally. Short for Captain Wallace Marvel, Fearless Freedom Fighter, Defender of Truth and Justice. =)
Are you on the fb group? I just got added. You can show me there.
LOVE IT! Wally would be a good frisbee dog if I could trust him off leash. He's very FAST, and he loves chicken (with or without BBQ sauce)... which are abundant in our semi-rural area
I'll wander in. :
phew fw with 3 minutes to spare :):)
