Yeah my dad had that though he does have asthma. And some anti-inflammatory drugs make him breathless too. Found that out when he was in hospital.
I mentioned that as you are taking new meds if I remember correctly. Might be worth checking to make sure they are not making it worse.
Have you tried using a walking frame to help you get about downstairs?

Min; sorry to hear things are tough for you at this time. I can honestly say, I'm right there with you. Deaths in the family, diagnosis of Severe Obstructive breathing disorder (Sleep Apnea) requiring a C-PAP machine which I am not tolerating. I am having a slight form of panic attack every time I put on the "mask" and I'm feeling worse than when I started. I know it is going to help but how do you convince your mind of that.

I looked at Amara View Masks on google images and it looks like it goes over your knows. Actually looks like a huge contraption over most of your face. Are there different kinds? My ex needs one that doesn't go over the nose. I really should not be concerned about him since he is putting me through the ringer these days.

Stoningtoncat; the "mask" I have doesn't go on the nose either it's under the nose; sort of like a nasal canula on steriods! My problem is that I cannot stand anything on my face while i'm sleeping; and that is CANNOT STAND, thus the minor panic attacks. Over the nose; under then nose wouldn't matter for me. I wish there wan an alternative to the mask completely

Loving my class this year, Min. It was a rough day... but overall this class has 80% absolutely "easy" personalities, and 100% wonderful kids.

mcurl, re ur CPAP panic attacks, have u talked to someone about trying nasal pillows instead of the mask? I could not relax with a mask but nasal pillows made it much easier.
That's what I have. Its a matter of ANYTHING on my face is not acceptable but I'm tyring to make it work because I DO want to be better but the stress from something on my face is making my sleeping worse
mcurl, there is a treatment called hypoglossus nerve stimulation. it may be the answer you are looking for.
At first I found the straps were too tight on mine and reduced the tension by cutting away part of each strap to make them narrower. Later I learned to push one strap way down towards the nape of my neck and the other forward on the top of my head which helped a lot.
or there is oral pressure therapy. only a mouth piece attached to tubing is used.
mcurl, another option is to turn off your ramp time. i too panic if the ramp is turned on. i feel like i am suffocating.
I also find the ramp unhelpful
granny, this is all new to me and they are trying to "dial in" where the pressure needs to be because my insurance company will not pay for the overnight sleep student that would do that. Say it could take 2-3 months before they "get the right pressure". Not sure I want to "suffer" for 2-3 months

mcurl, ramp is the slow building of pressure from the machine to your mask. with me, i need to feel the rush of air immediately. the ramp can be turned off, so that the machine immediately starts the positive air flow at full capacity as soon as it is activated.
anyway, there are three ideas to look at. i hope you find a solution soon. the first night i used my machine, set correctly, i slept in the one position all night. i was utterly exhausted.
Granny, I'm guessing it must be turned off because I immediately get positive air flow. Tallmike; the only straps go from the plastic tuping on my face around the back of my head
I hope if find some solution soon as well.
oh, another thought mcurl. if you don't do it already, try to train yourself to sleep with your mouth closed. it took me a few weeks, but i do that all the time now.
Separate the straps and push one up and the other down, as I already described. There are pics online which show that is the correct position for the straps. There is also a small user guide with a pic.
