*sigh* southern for pete;s sake...
forgive me... i am a tad distracted. have two of my grandkiddies to st4 over until tomorrow mid-afternoon. having a ball !!!
good morning all
Sprite! Hi! Long time, no see
good evening, dear one. How have you been?
Hangin' in, lousy weather. How is your tiny house? I hope you're loving it!
good morning to you too most precious friend. xoxox we are having the most delightful day with Claudia and Braxton. they both know exactly where the icy poles, biscuits, chips, lollipops and drinks are.
we do, it is amazing.
Happy to hear that!
lol, good going, granny! Spoiling them rotten is your job.

their emotions might become scrambled

at least the biggies are easy to find in this grid
got me one 9 already, so I guess you are right aout that
lolll... i can't leave you two alone, can i ?
two is never alone :P
have been getting towels and a bath ready....
in a small house you're never alone
how are you ruru?
felt pretty alone this morning when my beloved went and had a little tantrum.
are you home for the weekend yet?
i'm tired from working the market in southern california..
i'm finally home yes
poor sprite. what was the tanty about?
tantrum?
*hugs ru* welcome home, mate
my footrest did not do what he wanted, so he started cursing and kicked it through the caravan.
wow
he is gonna have to learn there is no room for tanties in a caravan...
can't kick the footrest if you're an auto-man :D
I think that suddenly having to take care of me while he is not well himself is getting to him
yeah, i can understand that.
me too. Still, not okay for him to be acting out like that.
lol ru, guess not
I was trying to couch that joke just right
you did that very wheel
slept well, rose, but lots of pain this morning. Waiting for the painkillers to kick in. Kinda sucks to have another full week of this to look forward to. Can't wait for that darn surgery.
surgery?
I went and broke my ankle, ru, and bad enough that they cannot set it without surgery and lots of metalworks.
oh boy.. bad news
bad luck for sure. Doc said the leaves will be falling before I can navigate a few steps again.
sounds painful
yeah. It is nasty.
the other ankle got contorted too, so right now I cannot move about at all. Once that one has healed, I should be able to get around on crutches. For now, a wheelchair. Ugh.
ah, the oddbal he8 is back
and back...oh the demands of grandkiddies....loll. dinner is over... bath time soon
quiche a success?
i'm trying to remember what happened when i broke my ankle. plaster for 7 weeks, then a moon boot to my knee for six months. i was weight-bearing after the plaster. surgeon put in three staples and a roofing screw.
quiche no go with Braxton. Claudia ate about half hers. both had toast and now are demolishing a plate of fresh fruit. they have been grazing all afternoon so i didn't expect them to eat a big dinner.
will hear more after monday. But so far, they said they might not put it in plaster after the surgery. Just pressure bandages. not sure what that will mean for mobility.
oh, ye4ah, i had to wear the moon boot even in bed...that was fun......... not
ikr. Not much fun in the whole thing, lol.
i had to swap si4s with don. it was my left foot, and i couldn't bear the weight of the blankets on it.
oh, btw, we do not have the 600+ paracetamols here. But teh
but the 500 will do
have to go.... Brax has had an accident in his jocks. bath time and gloves time... loll... luvsya

gm, clue for the he8/55 plz?
The tale of a girl
omg, really? thank you!
I never see that one because it seems so grammatically incorrect : D
it seems rather cliche.
Hi everyone...thanks Molly for that clue.....its ridiculous that they say thats a word...
TX Molly
Well, that word is in the OED :)
It goes back at least to the 70s
and besides coming into common usage, it has a singular definition, a neologism
Personally, I find it absurd and politically speaking, annoying.
Considering that the derivation of the "his" word has nothing to do with males, I'm not a big fan of the "her" version
same as the misuse of "man" as male instead of "manual"
If i remember from those days of the 70s the male word is for whats past and the female is of what is to come.
no, really?
Oh, what ruru could make of that!
"no" ! !.... just my take on it lol.....
ah. You caught me - i lived in Japan for most of the 70s. Frankly, I never thought I'd missed much.
we need to laugh at ourselves occasionally. And i could`nt resist a chance to throw my 2 penith in.
That's it, laydees and gemmun, I'm off work and mentally almost home in bed. 93 left for when I wake.
Ha. (I have a friend who sometimes lisps when she writes)
*poof*
hello
2 penith is an old pre decimal coinage saying
Well, I just have to say that any guy who has two, has more than he can handle. : D

does the he 8 begin with he 4 ending in a vowel or a cons?
It's a biggie! Just what I needed for such a yucky day!

tyty Bzz
do you prefer Bzz or Bea?
Hey, my grandson calls me PaPa...I'l answer to anything. =)
subsequent or concurrent marriage with wife's sister is the def.
ok
fo 8/70, pls
Making vegetable broth is a great way to get some use out of leftover vegetables. It make the house smell good too.
indeed
fo8 - ends with what you have to mow in summer
and to think I just started making it last year, what a waste of food. oh well
What are you making today, Molly?
lawn or grass are not in the grid
Beef burgandy
But your American way of saying back garden (or front garden) is...
It ends with a football measurement
Where your grass grows, peri
ok
ty Molly
My leftover veg scraps go into the freezer to feed the worm farm.
ty all
Sounds yummy, Molly.
I would love to compost. Not that feasible in a small space though.
You have a worm farm Bea. Would like to have one
what do you do with the worms, Bzz?
I compost and it doesn't take that much space. I bought a compost bin
I have a large compost at the garden and then the worm farm in the basement.
Peri, I use the waste from the worms as a fertilizer.
What do you feed the worms?
ok
It's not the space, it's the smell. If I did composting it would be far away from where my living space was.
Scraps of whatever...
I have thought of composting too but I live in an apt
I only use vegetable matter and there's no odor
I don't use meat scrapts as it would attract vermin
Banana peels, veggie peels, some egg shells...
If you compost correctly, there is no smell.
Don't use egg shells, but everything else. I used to go to a farm to get llama dung
Bichon, do you add your vaccum waste to the compost?
No, have nough compost. At my age, I'm not doing any major garden projects
How is it that rotting vegetable matter doesn't smell?
I also add wet newspaper, spoiled milk, used paper towels...
You add dirt to the compost and turn it. There's no smell, trust me
Don't use milk or wet newspaper.
You have to get a good "burn" going with green matter and soil. Adding cardboard also helps eliminate the smell.
I can't say I've ever had a smell, but my dog likes the smell
I don't use a lot of milk as we don't have it often. I peel my potatoes over newspaper in the sink and then roll it up to throw in the compost.
it is one of the common misconceptions re compost - that it smells. I've never seen smelly ones, lots around here
Disposal at my house is a major production...=)
ty for the fo8
How quickly does the newspaer degrade. I just recycle it
but we compost through city pickup
It degrades pretty quickly, especailly if wet. Last week when I turned the compost, there was no newspaper evident and I usually add some every week.
Ca is great about that. They even take meat scras
We have to scrounge the neighborhood for newspapers. We take them from others recycle bins as we don't take the paper.
anything that once lived is composted
and most take out containers, utensils, straws, etc here now are also composted
That's the way I do it, kje...
good morning all
between recycle here and compost, we have actual landfill to take out only about once/month
California rules
gm cyber
We only have landfill about every two weeks. But it goes out weekly because of doggie poo...
good point
I'd love to have a dog, but with the hours we keep it would be tough
89 left...back for those during basketball...bzz...
wouldn't mind a small dog if I didn't have to walk it in the winter.
doggy treadmill?
lol
hi cyber
no --- have always had cats and love them, but in our new place they have to stay indoors and I can't do that to one -- I think that constitutes cruelty to the animal.
it doesn't nan.. it's better for the cats to be indoors and safer
ask any veterinarian
don't see how they can be happier -- their natural inclination is to establish a territory and hunt. We'd probably have fewer mice and rats around if we were allowed cats!
they also get into fights, and hit by cars and eaten by coyotes and harmed in other ways besides being exposed to ticks and fleas
guess we just never had that happen to our cats
Doesn't the same thing apply to dogs, Ru?
cats are quite happy in a house and set up territory there
i believe in indoor dogs too.. mine are.. i do take them for walks but they're in the house with me 24/7 otherwise
I'm not an animal person, but I just feel like anything that breathes needs fresh air on a regular basis. That's just me. I know a lot of people keep what they call "indoor cats".
they get lots of air .. i take them out often..several times per day.. my dogs like to be where i am .. at my feet and sleeping
ruru, same here. He slees in our bed.
i don't take them out to pee as much as Une does :D
Mine goes out 4 times a day. If we go somewhere isolated, he can roam free
i think une's dogs have tiny bladders :D
hello friends. HIDEOUS cold. happy to have a fat grid to amuse me
budgie bladders

horrors ruru! fat grids rule!

greyed the j, feeling highly smug. I have a SPLITTING headache and no voice, so really, it's all miraculous
firewords! thanks BzznBea, hurshy, lickety and all cluers
those th words were beastly
huzzah for dan2!
all the cats y hubby and I have had are indoor. I agree with ruru cats should be kept indoors its safer
How many cats is that?
trif the j has me stumped I have jo 4 and that's it
gotta be careful with an indoor hubby. we can get cranky
Oh never mind, you said have had. I thought you meant you had many cats now.
ja 4 ja 5, jo 4, jo 4
molly we have had two at once but only one now Both of those died and this one caee from a liter
trif clue thre ja 5 pls?
plural of the ja4.sorry, that's all I have
I know people who keep a lot more than two, and I don't know how they do it.
But I have kids since I was a little girl
molly they are nuts lol
I'm sure you meant cats (not kids) MLF. We don't want to think about little girls having kids. : O
ty trif that is two I didn't have
molly I have wanted both in my life but not too many at the same time. At one int growing up, we had two dogs and two cats. One was a big dog the other a little dog. The cats were of normal size of course lol
kids since you were a little girl.. your husband should be arrested
:D
found my first nine, tra la la
isn't a kid a baby animal of some kind?
congrats trif
a kid is a baby goat, mlf, right you are!
well that is something my mother said she had wanted .. goats I haven't heard anything about that recently and she isn't home enough to take care of them anyway
well if a push comes to a chevre mlf
i would absolutely love to have goats, but I have many, many plants on my land that are harmful to them, poor things.
trif i think the plants would be easier to take care of lol
they grow wild everywhere. it's a bummer
goats are absolutely fantastic with poison ivy, for example they eat it all day, no issues.
I forget that people refer to pets as their kids.
and goats run wild too Goats you have to catch at times plants you don't at all
maybe a pig -- pet and scrap disposal all in one go
molly i never refer to my cats as my kids but a lot of people do
My nephew and his wife have 8 acres. They keep goats. And (alas) it looks like those are going to be their kids as well.
cyber i have always wanted a pig or a rabbit
trust me mlf, there are PLENTY of plants in my yard that have run wild indeed.
Okay MLF, I was confused. You said you have had kids since you were a little girl.
but you don't have to chase those
yay.. i closed out the R's
well done, ruru
struggling with the h's at the moment - hubby volunteered to make breakfast :)
just found an he 8 - really?? -- just tried it on a whim
i haven't found all the h words yet either
cyber clue pls?
I guess Enable is happy to allow all the alias Scot words it can think of, but disregards thousand year old Gaelic words like sidhe.
molly two humans here and a cat
grew up with cats and dogs mostly cats
we had a slew of animals growing up, from horses on down. I am allergic to cats as an adult, unfortunately
bummer trif
I had a parakeet. Didn't have a dog til youngest was a teenager
Ack, you must have to Benadryl up when you go to The Cat Lady's house aka your sister
Hi all. Clue for he8, please?
its a challenge, but she is well worth the zyrtec
i need it too bit
He8 the tale of a girl
we had a cat lady in our neighborhood. no idea how many she had but she passed away. She was a very odd person Couldn't tell you anything about the cats in terms of where they went. Some did roam around in neighbors backyards for a while
it's an illness to have a lot of cats unless you're a rescue organization
molly can you elaborate at all on that please?
ruru very true
I call foul on that he8...goofy!!! Thank you Molly.
Starts with a female word, ends with a word that means tale
Hence, the tale of a girl
And yes Champ, goofy
ah, thanks Molly :)

not him but ***
I think that is the he 8, mlf
And it is the he8 that ends in the st word

he7 ends in Gone With The Wind home with an extra vowel in the middle

Nan, thank you and BuzznBea again for the sewing tips. I just tried the 10 needle on the chiffon pants and I cannot believe the difference!! Waht are you having for dinner, ru?
What...
Obviously, I appear to be drinking my dinner. =)
tonight chicken breasts with steamed veggies.. trying to avoid starches :D
I'll have those starches for you...
We are having potatos soup with grilled homemade pimento cheese sandwiches.
I love potato soup. Especially on a cold day.
We got a lot of potatoes and HUDGE carrots in a CSA box this week...
I walk a thin line on potato soup as my Hubs likes his thick and my mom likes hers thinn.
I'm in the thick camp. With lots of onion and bacon in it. My potato soup is not for the lo-cal, lo-carb types.
We have a CSA farm nearby, but you get too much in the boxes for two people.
My son did a work study program there and loved it.
Can you not designate how many people you have in your CSA, Molly?
Are there neighbors you can share with?
I'm all about feeding hungry people...
For this farm it's not about how many people are in it. You pay a designated fee and you get so many boxes depending on which program you sign up for. The farm is supported by community donations.
Most of my neighbors are the "eat out a lot" type. They don't cook much.
That's nice that you can have fresh produce like that. I assume it is a variety depending on what is in season?
It is only available during the summer/early fall months. The boxes also contain several things we don't eat, like eggplant and zucchini.
You don't eat eggplant or zucchini!? WTH?!
Eggplant and zucchini....yum!!
On our table weekly!
I think the only recipe most people think when eggplant is mentioned is eggplant parm.
to the list i go with 65 left
I add a generous amount of chopped zucchini and eggplant to veggie chili and veggie spaghetti sauce
...and am already saying "gah! how did i miss that one"
I like to make big pots and freeze in summer when homegrown tomatoes abound!!
Une is your hair naturally curly or did you have a perm in that picture?
