nan, are you yes-ing me on the un or something else?
*!*~*!* not me -- too many non-words
I heard the BEST thing yesterday, I am still laughing.....my friend has a son that graduated from a highly competitive, very very technical college over the weekend. There are five men for every 1 woman there. The women at the school have the most BRILLIANT motto: "The odds are good, but the goods are odd!"
love it trif !
funny. exactly why my nephew did not choose the scholarship at Stevens.
yes carla, the bottom U word is a UN
gracias
my SIL said lots of the kids at the open house were positively twitching.
I have tried to make all kinds of un words. will keep looking!
a UN4
I laughed SO HARD. Kind of bummed I never thought of it...
yes, not using un as a prefix
and on that note, HAGD ladies - bbl for last 15 - have fun - poof
sorry was called away --- yes it is a un 4
ok, weird. thanks
hagd everyone :)
It would be fun if this game had a way you could track how many words you found on your own vs. how many you looked up/got clues for. Then you could strive to improve your "on your own" score.
agreed
I know you could do it on your own, I might try some time.
volleymom does it every day.. she never goes to the list
or hardly ever does
well, I have 4 left now after the list but have so much I need to get done, so I will return later.
*punches hokie's time card out*
Oh, I meant keep track of what you find on your own vs what you look up/get clues for. I don't think I could ever find all the words on my own without benefit of help. I'd have to keep the chat turned off though, there are a lot of clues in it these days.
if you look at the bottom of my profile, you will see a little number, just sitting there. That is the number of grids I have ever solved without a list.
i rarely finish these days, not like when I first started, when I was OBSESSED with finishing every day
Oh, I thought that was a mystery number like the 33 on Rolling Rock bottles
asthma
inhaler
wheezing
allergies
pollen
these puns are nothing to sneeze at
yes my nose has done more running this spring than I have
note to self.. start calling Knight Your Sinus
You knows me well
Trif, back when I first started this game in '05, I became absolutely OBSESSED with finishing every day as well. I finally just had to quit cold turkey one day and I took like 6 years off before coming back recently. I am spending more time on it that I should each day, but I'm okay with not finishing or even starting one day.
i understand hokie. It's a very addicting game. I like to play every day, and hit at least nbt and halfway, but it no longer keeps me up at night.
doesn't mean I don't love it, and I TRULY appreciate the dear friends in the chog, but I needed to find a good balance
I think I will start calculating % completed on my own. List-aided is okay, but I won't count words I've seen in the chat or had to look up on a words list.
yep
whatever works and makes it fun for you - seriously! It's a fun game, not a cruel master
there is NO problem the chog cannot solve
yeah, and everyone has their own rules. I try to get at least halfway before using the list and I never worry about NBT or NBS but some people have to have that.
sorry
I must admit, I am stymied by the people who want clues for EVERY word.
my sister got me hooked on babble,,, and we were just talking about it this weekend... same issues,,,, we were OBSESSED at first,,,, now we have both backed away some,,, it is fun to see how far you can go
my cousin was my gateway babbler, lol
I don't pay too much attention to chat unless I am stuck then I will check the chat....
which I am now.............
we both rationalize it is good for our minds!!!
of course it is good for our mind! What REALLY floors me are the people for whom English is not their first language, and yet the school me in babbling
:)
you know,,,, words are words.....
whatever......
I like that there are words from other languages in the grid.... makes it interesting... and I don't speak any other language... but yes,,,, some of our "rules' about spelling...
Since we're sharing true confessions of a babbler... A few years ago I was having some mild cognitive issues, and was tested by a neuropsychologist. The day long testing covered general IQ, verbal IQ, dexterity, memory, reading retention, and more. She told me my verbal IQ is in the top 2% "of everyone". I'm a writer and lover of the English language, so wasn't too surprised. I share this not to brag, but to say there is rarely a grid I can finish on my own. I love the chat and clues, and I challenge myself to get at least 80% of the grid finished before listing. There are days when that doesn't happen. I also feel (true confession!) very humbled by the many, many players who clearly outpace me. So I take the approach that if you are on here playing, you ROCK, no matter where on the 'clue-list' scale you see yourself.
thanks ch ~ I agree whole heartedly!!! we all rock!
Stats for some of the 4th column T's please? I have th4.

hi all, diving in with a modicum of disappointment
Why any disappointment Gwen?
i was here the other day, and it was a little grid. i come bacjk again and get another little grid. argh LOL
So you missed the 200+ grids the last couple of days I was on...Lucky?
yep. hey, i like grids that are about 150 to 250
I'm ok up to @200, but I don't get a chance to sign in until there are only 2-3 hours left so more than that is too intimidating
nbt finally!
17 to go, opening the list
Saw an interesting conversation earlier...about how far do you get without listing or clues?
I try for at least 1/3 without clues, and 1/2 without listing. Don't always make it, but try...
i have a similar system, but i try to get 2/3 without going to either the list or my own "cheat sheet"
exception: grids over 300 then I only have to get 1/2 before resorting to lists
