phantom: correct
cooee and g'day from me. {{{{ sprite}}}}}
*hugs rose* Hello my beloved friend, how are you doing today?
after gym effect
started a new exercise last week, building on repetitions. so a little achy. otherwise not too bad. go in for my next therapy session Oct 1st.
ah nice, that isn't too far away.
and you?? lovely to see you he4. no work this morning?
am pretty good this morning, slept well. No work today, so only household chores etc.
Hi sprite! Great to "see" you again! Everything good with you? I hope!
i haven't seen liz today yet. i'm a little concerned. huge bushfires raging in her neck of the woods, so to speak.
{{{{{{kam}}}}}}
Liz was on earlier, rose. *hugs* to you and sprite
thanx kam. maybe i'll see her later. the news is dreadful.
wait, it's winter there, you're having winter fires now? That's terrible :'(
hiya Kam :) *hug* Yeah, all pretty okay here. I have a new sponsor in OA and we talk every morning at 7 am. Great way to start my day and get my nose pointed in the right direction, so to speak. How about you? And Michael?
ah, that is good news, glad Liz is still okay.
We're doing well - he's loving his Rock Steady boxing program. It is really helping his balance. Highly recommend for anyone with Parkinson's!
awesome, Kam, good to hear. How are you guys dealing with the loss of his Dad?
*rueful smile* it maybe winter but up north the country is in the tropic zone. also drought is very severe. no rain for ages wh5 it is needed. our farmers, their families and livestock are on the edge.
it is a tough time to be a farmer
Dad finally being at rest is a relief. Poor man was in diapers for years. He loved life, but he was not well.
He was 94, and loved by all.
we are running huge fund raisers trying to support them all.
may he rest in peace, Kam, and may you guys treasure the memories and forget the pain.
Oh, rose, sounds like Calif all over again with drought and fires. We're all on edge here, but only have 3 big fires right now (I think - hard to keep track). The firefighters lit off an underground fire that had been burning for 5 years, and are hoping to finally get it out.
awww Kam. my he5felt sympathies. it's so tough when your Dad passes. i still miss mine and it's been nearly 20 years. fortunately for us he didn't waste away.it was 6 weeks from diagnosis to passing. not enough time to say good-bye really.
Thanks, sprite, we will definitely treasure the memories - you should see the photos Michael has put up all over. Dad was very loved.
a 5 year burning fire? *baffled*
the news is that the police are interviewing some teen boys who are thought to have deliberately lit these fires.
When my dad died, it was a huge shock - he had just turned 66. We were on a little vacation and came back to messages from family "call me." I knew before I even called.
yes, sprite 5 years. it was peat, buried deep under the surface which has been smouldering for years.
I'll look up some stories with the history of that fire - there was mining and timber debris underground, and when a big fire hit, the underground part couldn't be put out.
it is always the wrong persons who die young. And my father keeps on living and thriving. Weird world.
kam, didn't it finally surface through cracks in the roads?
There were a few fissures here and there, and now that our weather finally cooled off, they decided it was time to try to kill it off. They say it's going well...only time will tell
scary stuff though. imagine... tootling along and hey ! there's a fire in, not on, in the road.
fireflies. Lovely to have seen you again. *hugs* to you both and one extra for rose :)
and how about hawaii? we had lots of news on that volcano, then nothing. i must look it up and see just how things are there.
WTH SPRITE !!!!
Yay Sprite! Have a great day!
HUGS.... xoxox
Not sure about Hawaii - those volcanoes are always pretty active.
i just saw .... it was the one year anniversary last May.
bye Kam dear. xoxox see you at the flip.

Pffth. Some chick in one of our holding cells. Biggest tramp stamp I've ever seen (not that make a point to look).
They forget they are on camera. Makes for amusing moments in my day as I have monitors in my office.
what's she in for?
Violation of a no-contact order. Frequent flier.
oh she's a bit nuts
thankfully i've never known one of those
Drugs, alcohol. The usual influences.
we should have a few non contact orders around here :D
Unfortunately, in most cases the NCO's aren't worth the paper they're printed on.
true.. and I feel sorry for women who can't get the police to protect them from ex husbands etc
My advice is, if you have to get a NCO against someone because you are afraid for your life, you should get as far away from that person as possible. Don't move in with relatives. Go somewhere where the offender will not think to look for you. Hard some times as children are often involved. However, reaching out to churches and shelters is highly recommended.
great advice
Even shelters are not terribly safe. Easily found by offenders. Also, arm yourself and get trained in how to use your weapon. Self defense may be your last resort.
So ends the lesson for today.
We packed up and moved across the country 36 years ago to escape a stalker.
There wasn't even a name for it and no laws against it.
Wow, gramma. You guys must have been scared to death.
He stalked me for 3 years. It's crazy how you can live in total fear for so long.
wow..
there are so many people that need help, advice and protection for sure from the stalkers
Oh the tales I could tell. My life has not been easy but yet it's been wonderful too.
i bet.. sorry you had to endure that
Unfortunately, it is easy for stalkers to gain access to information about you in these days of transparency via the internet.
Oh he found me but as time has gone by, he doesn't seem obsessed any more
True, Molly. Legal name changes may be required to assure safety. Name change notices are posted in newspapers in teeny tiny print. Unlikely a stalker would see it.
I didn't know that name changes are posted in the paper. I changed my first and middle names.
It is a legal requirement in my state.
judi did we get a clue yet?
Most states do require public postings of name changes.
Fist column e stats pls?

bye judi
incompatibility of temperament?
that's the reason for the divorce?
how about 2nd column e?
te 7/28, pls
From what I read, Todd Palin filed for divorce and used the "incompatibility of temperament" reason. It basically means they don't get along anymore. Similar to "irreconcilable differences".
te7/28 is an alternate spelling of a soup holder

Does anyone need any clues, although mine probably will be more obscure than peach's. :^)
FW here.
Congrats peach.
tr 7 please
nm found it
ye olde policye of entering things that you can't actually see but that theoretically could be there somehow is working out well with this grid
good point hurshy - that's one of the secrets of Babble Success. It's also how we read.
read fast, that is - capturing the whole sentence or even a paragraph in one swell foop.
i like to savor the words slowly
especially with the really good writers
Certainly. They are often best read aloud. But when was the last time you savored a magazine or newspaper (well, online version) article?
it's hard to savor content that's so depressing, even if it is well-written
Are you talking about magazine or newspaper articles, hursh?
either
Hmm. Can you not pick your way through to find the good-'n-happy ones?
life is sour. watching the self-implosion of one's own species ... i live and breathe thoughts of climate change refugees, consider what possessions will serve me well when civilization collapses... only the greatest of writers from our past can make a dent in that
These Times Will Pass, you know.
yes, and god bless the new species that rise to take our place
Good grief! I'm glad you have Babble!
I just took a peek at your profile, and the word "sad" jumped out at me. I hope you are over 90 at least, to be so down.
lol, i wish. then i would die of old age before things get much worse.
That's what I keep telling my doctor when he thinks he's reassuring me about my good health "for my age." (Next year I hit 80!)
i envy you
(*she adjusts herself in her rocking chair, creak-creak") Okay. I', going to make a guess that you didn't live through the Blitz, or in the USA during the 50's when the Commie Witchhunt was on and artists and intellectuals and scientists (the ones who weren't making bombs) had their lives ruined forever - or my parents' days during the Depression. And that's just a few that have last a heck of a lot longer than the last (less than) three years.
it's not the president, it's the climate, the environment
it's not what is past, it's what is coming
there have always been bad things in the world, all those you describe and much much worse
(Last argument for the night): We can only live in the present, kid.
bless you, dear.
oh and don't forget the "it's cold!" br4
Yes, I was just talking about things in my personal life or those of my family, not forgetting the Nazi camps where both sets of grandparents lost all of their families.
i am so sorry for all that they and you suffered, and i don't mean to diminish it
deepest apologies if it gave that impression
They lost track of everyone by 1939 and didn't find out what happened to all of them until 1946. The POINT, my dear friend, is that I did NOT suffer (and you cannot diminish anything that was pertinent -- we are talking about feelings, not history.
my feelings are not really important. they are a very small, minor byproduct of humans rapidly bringing about what might be our own extinction. i don't see how we get past our current environmental trajectory with the loss of fewer than two billion lives.
Sorry, forgot to finish the though. Living through something is not the same as suffering. My cousin's baby came early because a bomb exploded in the London hospital and killed the woman in the bed next to her. She tells the Blitz stories with pride and details of humor, always. . . . You HAVE been reading all the wrong things, I think. Look on your words "might be" and understand that somewhere inside you you know that we will survive in one way or another .... and that trajectories (if they were accurate in the first place --- which no-one knows, you know; it is all speculation - tey are trying to sell papers, as they used to say) where was I . . . trajectories that broad are not predictable. and I repeat. Your feelings are all that are important. You only have one life and if you squeeze the laughter it to fit what-might-be's in, you are wasting the best of yourself. Please don't do that.
*thought
tell that to the woman in the bed next to your cousin
*if you squeeze that out to"
ah, then you want everybody to live forever
that's kind of you
no, not at all. i just don't want two billion of the poorest to die prematurely because ten of the richest can't be bothered to give up a cent of their income.
i don't want to be around to witness that.
You know, I think someone may be looking for a clue before this grid is gone. I shall leave. You have begun a new chapter which doesn't compute either, I'm afraid. The planet's population grows and troubles grow with it. So does joy and love and great word puzzles. G'nite
g'night
actually, speaking of clues, i do find myself curious about what the 10 is
Carried by h2o
thanks une :)
Yw!
