are we playing the same puzzle? I got totally different stats. I'm going to check if I mistyped...
I just threw this grid into the wordracer solver, and the total was 157. My total from the tangleword solver was 160, not even close to 209, so I'm inclined to think you may have mistyped. These are the stats I got: BabbleStats: 10 - 1 9 - 1 8 - 2 7 - 5 6 - 16 5 - 48 4 - 87 -------- total: 160 -------- A - 5 D - 32 E - 6 H - 21 i - 4 J - 4 L - 4 M - 12 N - 5 O - 5 R - 10 S - 40 T - 12
*waits with bated breath* i'm very good at typos or bad, that is. Hope i didnt get it all wrong
Now I'm freaked that I posted bad stats and caused confusion - will you try again?
sorry .. didnt see your post when i was posting. Then i saw your post. I've just gone back and redone my stats. YOURS are the correct results. *oh the shame* i have no idea what i typed wrong, but what a difference!
I'm so relieved - I'd hate to have to find so many S's :) Off to start Thanksgiving dishes. Night!
You aren't the only one that's relieved. I hit 95 words pretty easy, saw 209 and just kind of stared blankly hehe. 160, much better.
8 for 50
an H7/44 past tense
Atalante, what does the 8/50 start with?.
The 8 for 50 starts with s and is connected to a 5/12 and a 6/21
and an 8 for 45
s7/7 46 Look!!! Up in the sky. What's that shooting by? It aint a bird or a plane
h7/44 Stole jewelry
s8 mentioned by Wendrie : Makes more stable
R7/32 - what chickens did LOL
fit1, if you're still around, I'm confused by your clue "s7/7 46 ". I'm guessing there's an S7 that fits your description, but not for 46 points, since that's not mathematically possible. Or is it 74 points?
Nope, 74 is not possible either. Maybe 76, or something completely different?
OK, I just found an M/7/36 that you'd see flying across the sky. Is that it?
and if you have found that m/7 that flies across the sky - look out for the 6 and 10 that fly with it!
Beautiful! But I think you meant 9 and 10 (though there is also a 6). For 72 and 91 points, respectively. :-D
oops. That "up in the sky" clue I gave earlier was for an M 7 not an S7 (hanging myhead in shame)
Nope, I couldn't find a nine - but I'll now go back and look again (I figured there should be one but....) Many thanks! :)
slaps head - o.k. shouldn't try to Babble and do accounts....
anyone have the 10 and 9 yet? I believe the 10 is a plural of the 9...
I feel better to see others are screwiing up today too. Not just me :)
ok, this is making more sense now :)
We are nearing a full moon (Friday) so maybe it's influence is on us already. :-D
All kinds of cosmic influence here today...
Hey guys, it could be worse. We could be turkeys. I even wrote a limerick about being a turkey :)
Well, we're still missing 2 7s that haven't yet been hinted at. And, there aren't many 6s, so I'm going to list mine here too. Maybe we can compare. :) D 24 - tried to lose weight H 30 - best I can guess is it's a variant of the H/7/44 i 21 - a chemical salt of a liquid you may find in your medicine chest M 24 - a heavenly body N 27 - tidily S 21 - don't know, maybe stoned? S 21 - places (noun)
S/7/44 in a sober or straight-laced manner
fit1 - let's have the limerick!
hmmmmmm that "maybe stoned " clue would go in yesterday's puzzle with the word faced in back of it :)
S6 - one who enjoys causing others misery
Ok krys. you asked for it. :) I’m a Turkey Oh dear, woe is me, I'm a turkey Up till now I've been feeling quite perky They have kept me well fed Now they all want me dead That's a notion which I find quite jerky Thanksgiving just comes once a year And I guess that is why I am here I don't want to be eaten Like some candy treat'n I'll run just like hell don't you fear Well, I do have to run in a minute Cooking's tough so you better begin in Have a wonderful day And a meal that's OK But I don't wanna be the one in it Oh dear, woe is me, I'm a turkey Up till now I've been feeling quite perky They have kept me well fed Now they all want me dead That's a notion which I find quite jerky Thanksgiving just comes once a year And I guess that is why I am here I don't want to be eaten Like some candy treat'n I'll run just like hell don't you fear Well, I do have to run in a minute Cooking's tough so you better begin in Have a wonderful day And a meal that's OK But I don't wanna be the one in it
T6 - lay in the sun
oh dang, it printed twice. I apologize. Mea culpa
you're an O5-12 and I'm an S6-21!
ooohh Krys, I like that lay in the sun clue. I'm going to Aruba for 19 days starting next week. I'll come back looking like your t6 clue
haha!! thats great!
ok, Thanksgiving dinner is going to suffer because of all you good folks - I gotta go! Thanks for the limerick!
ok, brief break for showering (taught a step class today) and making stuffing. Back later
Just back from work, so you all have quite a headstart of me. Does anyone know the meaning of that crazy H4/7 word that shows up in so many grids lately?
ive got 2 H4/7s and both are easy words...gotta figure out which word you mean + then maybe ill know what it is...hehe...
I mean the one starting with "belonging to him" and then ends with n. Looked up the def, even searched merriam webster, but I am still puzzled.
I did a quick google on it, and everything that came up sounded Arabic. Hmmm.....
well, theres an arabic definition, but the clearest meanin i can find outside of that is that it is another word for "his" - yknow, kind alike the redneck version...hehe...
Hmmm... well, thanks for the help. Still seems a strange word, but hey, what do I know about rednecks? ;-)
You can find it defined at www.infoplease.com Whenever something doesn't come up in dic.com, www.onelook.com is a good place to check because it checks many other dictionary sites. Still not 100%, but better!
Testing, thanks for that tip! I have this incurable curiosity for defs...
....which would help explain why your English is so good :-)
Isn't the h4/7 the opposite of her'n? :)
only got 76 words, but my brain wants to sleep...hoping theyll let us out of work early today!
I keep looking at this puzzle and seeing rodent!
:-) Thanks Boo!
At 10:28 am evanadine said... only got 76 words, but my brain wants to sleep...hoping theyll let us out of work early today! ----- Me, too! Up to 57 and my brain has turned to mashed potatoes and stuffing already! ;)
mmmmmmmmmm...........stuffing.................
S's and Ed's and Ted's help, but I am stuck in the 130 range now. Time to go random letter combos! Holy moly this is a big one!
D/6/30 - clear fish stock (plural)
E/7/28 Occurring annually. Used of the prevailing northerly summer winds of the Mediterranean.
6/21/O An alloy of copper, zinc, and tin, used in imitation gold jewelry. I'm sure we've seen this one before.
6/R/21 a public roping of cattle (event, plural)
M/6/24 - no idea what it means. But, if you take a word for something in the middle and replace one of the letters in the middle, you'll have it. It's apparently also the last name of a Bishop, but I've never heard of him (though I'm not Catholic).
M9/72 - 10/91 combo Did someone mention them already?
Yeah, back around 7:52-8:46. They were the cause of quite a bit of confusion! :)
Oh yes, now I see them. Sorry...
I have three of the four L's. I have Le4x3...any clues for the last one? Is it weird? (should I start noodling) or should I be able to figure it ou??
It's a word I knew, but not a common one. It starts with the other L and is 5 letters.
I have 3 Ls, but one isn't Le4, but Ly5.
Can anyone help with Ds or Ss? I have: DA4x4, DA5x2, DA6 DE4x2, DE5x3 Di4x5, Di5, Di6 DO4x6, DO5x2 SA4x5, SA5x4, SA6 SE4x3 SH4x2, SH5x5 Si4 SN4, SN5 SO4x2, SO5 ST5x5, ST6x2, ST7, ST8x2
I have De4 x5
De5 x4
And a Do6 that comes very close to what I have to do almost every day to finish a grid.
Can't help yet with the S's, sorry.
Thanks! I tried that DO6 without the D earlier, but apparently that's only valid if it's plural. :)
:-D
I found an Se6
And I found an SH5 and an SH6. I think that leaves only one more S.
And, alas, I miss an S that you don't have either... or at least a similar one. Two more words to go. Any help on the T's? Ta4 x2 Ta6 Te4 x6 Te5 x2 One missing.
Oh sorry, had the Sh6. But now that one more Sh5... the hunt goes on!
Darn... never mind the T's. Missed one very obvious Te4...
It's a TE4. The missing S is 5 letters, but I don't yet know the second letter.
OK, I was missing an SA5, for 5 of them total. I think that's it then with 160/2001.
I'd say so too: 160 words / 4.71 / 2001 points. Thanks for your help!
And thanks for yours! :-D
Thanks to whoever said they kept seeing "rodent" in the puzzle, because now it keeps jumping out at me, too :-)
My pleasure. ;-) Misery loves company, you know. :-D
rODEt/ ooops...
CLUES???
S/8/50 MEANING FIRM OR FREE FROM CHANGE OR VARIATION
KEEP SEEING EROSION
TsHMS - read the log. There are clues for many of the big words, or at least their starting letters and point values. No need to reinvent the wheel. ;-D
I'm missing some vowels...what else is new...and am getting rather frustrated with them (again, what else is new?) :-) I have three E's and one O. Ea4x2 Et7 Or6 Can anyone help me fill in the gaps?
Okay, found an Et4...
...and an ei5
Ei4, Od4, Od5x2
Thanks!! :-) (it's also nice to know I'm not just talking to myself...sometimes I feel like I'm doing that!)
Os: OD4 OD5 OD4 OD5 OR6
Man, I'm so close. Thanks for the clues for E and O. I'm missing two D's...the Do6 (I know clues have been given but I'm stumped...) and a De5. And 8 H's. I think those are more workable...
My high school biology teacher would be proud of me for remembering that MEOSIS is a word, but sadly, babble does not accept it.
You probably did the DO6 in the margins of your notebook in high school. As for the DE5s, there are 4: heads of universities to clean up a fireplace? one who studies gods thick, when used to describe a person, or heavy for its volume when used to describe a thing
Isn't it meiosis? I tried meosis too, though, just in case.
No wonder I hated that class.
Thanks, Testing! I kept ALMOST trying the 6-letter word, but deciding it wouldn't work. I know better than that!! Same with the 5...I was missing the 3rd one...I wondered if it was in the puzzle, but decided it wasn't. Thanks! Now on to finishing the H's!!! :-)
Yay!! I think this is one of the biggest puzzles I've completed. At least on a Friday (or a day that feels like Friday!) :-)
My A's are AD4, AI4, AI4, AS5. What am I missing?
sprite, may I have a definitio for the M9/10 combo. I didn't see one.
ad5
mo9/10 combo: A solid body, moving in space, that is smaller than an asteroid and at least as large as a speck of dust. and its plural Happy Thanksgiving to all our American Babblers!
I have an m6/7 combo. I am assuming the longer combo is similar.
Yup, they're similar.
Testing, I just loved your clean a fireplace clue. It was perfect LOL
Boo, thanks, found the M/9/10 combo.
Have no O words:(. May I have a clue. Are they staring me in the face?
could someone help me on the Ms? I have ten m4x5 m5x2 m6x2 m7x1
Dolphin, there is m9 and m10
Any help with the H's? I have: ha4x4, ha4x2 he4x2, he5, he7 hi4x5, hi6 or the other M6?
I have two Os. They both have to do with smells. :)
dolphin, there is an o that refers to poetry writer
od4x2, od5x2 or6
thanks!
Michelle, on the Hs I have ha4x7 5x4 he4x2 5x1 7x1 hi4x5 6x1
