I'm also not very fond of needles

*makes chicken sounds*
I'm usually okay with them but these have made my arms so sore and yesterday, my entire body ached.
i heard the shingles vaccine really hurts too so that's a problem

Yes, I'm glad I got the vaccines.

hi nan
hi nan....
di7 clue pls?
Good Morning happy babblers!
Yay! McPope is back
Sorry, Ru, I was not ignoring you I had a phone call.
Hello, Nan! Hello, Saanichcat!
hi saan
hi saanich -- do you still have snow or has it turned to slush overnight?
hi Nan, got snowed in again on Tuesday; all that's left now are the piles on the roadside. Brilliant and sunny after a hair-raising stoem last night -- actually slept in the basement. But all is well now. How about you?
Good morning, sannich
hi origami, how's it going?
snowed again here on Tuesday and again yesterday, so back to where we were with a slushy mess on the roads
It's going OK. You?
Love your crocus icon, Molly! There are some coming out now over here!
we had a snow/ice event all day Thursday and Friday....tree fell across the driveway.....and since it's really cold here now, I had a hard time getting my trunk open....cleaning off the car was NOT fun....
penguis what a drag. Did you have to chainsaw your way out?
You must have been hit by that storm that swept through NS and NFLD?
felt like i was doing that, lol.....
i think so, nan....
reminded me of the ice storm of '98.....but that one's effects lasted two weeks....lost power and internet for a while, but it wasn't too bad....in '98 my brother was without power for 2 weeks...
sorry penquis, spelled your name incorrectly
no problem....it happens...
glad you're getting a chance to branch out though penq
Let's go, Jayhawks! Beat the Horned Frogs!
i wouldn't be going out on a limb if said that I was branching out in lots of directions... ;o)
We have a storm coming over from the USA for tomorrow. Wonder if it is the same storm that hit you. It will be lots of rain and 80+ MPH winds.
i've heard your bark is worse than your bite though
perhaps it is the same storm, zooz....
grooaaan
I'm sure it is, zooz.
i woodn't say that.... ;o)
just thought i'd add a new timber to the chat
fir sure you are ru
well i will be leafing soon anyway...
jayhawks and horned frogs? oh now that's a game for ya
Is Horned Frogs a real name?
of a college team, yeah
Get right to the root of the puns, Ru!
It is if you live in Fort Worth Texas.
I know about horny frogs not horned ones
and a real frong..poisonous too
Jayhawk however is not
are you watching basketball?
well nobody expects a jayhawk to be a frog
Thanks Hursh
The name is real, mlf. But it is a "mythical" bird of Kansas.
yes made up and so is the character
the jayhawks college football team is terrible
Phantom: President.
that's been the truth here for a long time here zooz
There is a historical reason for the name Jayhawk. People born in the great state of Kansas are referred to as Jayhawks. There is also a historical reason for the fans' chant, "Rock Chalk" and for them to "wave the wheat".
🤣🤣
I finally did what I'm afraid of every day - fell down the stairs. at least it was feet first.
my husband is waiting for the new football to start
Oh dear I do hope you are okay, Hokie Carla?
Oh, Carla! I hope you are okay!
I fear that every day too. Ours are not covered with carpet.
i thought you were the stair master
sore on both elbows, one ankle, & one butt cheek
apparently not!
(no stairs here)
more of a demon than a phantom in this case
And you will probably be sorer tomorrow.
ours are not covered either. I guess these socks are slippery. I usually have on houseshoes (other folks call them slippers).
It is very easy to break something. I do hope you will be more wary next time.
*gives the staircase an evil eye*
the dog was very concerned
hokie maybe you should pu ton a runner on the steps that doesn't move
husband is in the basement and son is still asleep. I guess neither of them heard anything.
i was just reading about some athlete or daredevil or something who did fine with all the stuff they did in their career but then slipped with socks on a slippy floor at home and got a very severe head injury and TBI
Carla, have you tried the slippers called KoziKicks? I love them!
My parents staircase is carpeted and my mother wears slippers but I still worry when she goes up and down the stairs at 80 years old as she is not steady on her feet.
hurshy, that about sums it up
Yes I can imagine that being easily done, Hurshy.
did you yell for either of them? if only you had had your cell phone?
i better go jump in the shower and get ready .. company is coming
see you guys tomorrow i hope
Have a great day, Ruru!
my mom has been having dizziness problems and she was talking about going to her basement the other day to put Xmas boxes on shelves down there. I told her to just wait. That basement was a mess until I organized it Oct, so I don't know what her hurry is.
bye, ru. have a good time with your company.
(and where'd the blue go?)
my mom has a house with no carpet on the steps.its apparently hard to see where this one step goes and a lot of people have fallen(no injuries that i know of). I think she fiinaly put a runner on the stairs. They are stained dark brown
have we got any GN words?
everybody if they can should hold onto a railing
Sometimes they say they are going to do something on the hope that you will say do not worry I will do it for you.
No, hursh
yes, my mom holds tight to her railing. I was carrying an iPad and a bag of cough drops so not holding on.
sad but true zooz
good, thanks
did you have a pocket??
there was probably a wocket in her pocket
not today sadly
how does your ankle look?
Both replacable, Hokie. Bones on the other hand although will mend. sadly as we age takes a hell of a long time to mend including bruising. I would of let go of the items but saying that it does happen so fast you probably would not of had time anyway.
I'm having more reactions to my vacs today. My torso is covered with hives. =(
my husband hurt his ankle/foot a few weeks ago.
bzz uh oh
oh, they flew everywhere. also had a stylus for my iPad in my hand.
oh no, bea! do you have any benedryl?
Sorry to hear that, Bea
i thought a stylus could fit on the outside of the ipad?
I thought a stylus was for a record player LOL
Yes, we have benedryl. I rubbed frankincense and jojoba on the hives. Wehn I get back from errand running, I'll take benedryl if they are still present.
I have an old iPad mini, so the stylus is aftermarket
are both of the ne 5/12's pl?
ohh
one is, mlf
lol, zooz, not sure what you all call the pens with the soft tip for using on touchscreens
oh wait i have two that are
I don't have the other.
which one do you have?
I have 3 ne5/12 that are pl
Never used an ipad so they could be called the same.
i have three ne 5 pl so far...
dweeb
sorry about your fall, hokie....my worst nightmare....
my sewing machine even has a stylus
i have geeks and desires..what am i missing?
one of my friends here fell head first and woke up in a pool of blood. she broke her jaw. ever since I heard that I have a fear of falling face first.
you are missing a product of the seeds of a tropical tree....often seen in the grid.....ends in the left lower corner...
mlfan, a weird one. a tree or seed of a tree.
Same as the desires but different 2nd to last letter.
rhymes with "appear to be"
hokie instinct is to put your hands down when falling
ty zooz and hokie
a friend gave me a rubber thing to hold the iphone....goes around the neck like a lanyard....should use it more often, i think....
that greyed that N for me
I use ne4 oil all the time as an organic pesticide.
at least if you had that you could call for help but you might also break it that way
I put my shoes on now and went upstairs to find my phone, so y'all will be glad to know I made it back down
true, mlf....
hokie congrats. what device are you playing Babble on?
yea, hokie!
the kid finally got up too and I asked him why he didn't come help when I fell down the stairs. he said he heard it but thought I just dropped something. yeah, me!
i am totally stuck with 47 left to find....think i need a break....bbl to finish....bye all....
you jut never know hokie
just
mlfan, I play on laptop 98% of the time. only use iPad when on vacay without laptop or up in bed. never play on phone.
bye pen
that's cool i use a desktop computer
I have our supposed to be formal living room set up as a sewing room/office
we don't have a dinning room at all since we don't entertain
Much better use for a formal, living room, I think, Carla. =)
lol bzz
ew only have an eat in kitchen
i like an eat in kitchen:)
waste of space as a formal living room :D
I do wish I could close it off to the foyer and dining room though, but we rarely have guests
hokie did your family eat together in a dining room?
we have a table in the kitchen we eat at. dining room table is currently covered in sewing patterns and items for goodwill.
yeah dinning table is much bigger for that kind of stuff
:)
Okay quick first go through and I have 157 words found. Will try and come back later to see if I can find any more. Happy babbling everyone!
Our dining room table is 8' currently. Will expand to 12'. All my stuff is piled on one end of the table and we eat at the other end. =)
in other news, I'm trying to buy a nice table with pull out ledges from Earth Fare for my sewing room
That would be nice, Carla.
currently using a 6' folding table for cutting, but would like this other one
no idea what they are selling fixtures for, but I filled out a form in the store yesterday!
I really miss my sewing/craft room. We have an office, but by the time we got the desk, bookcases, credenza and computer cabinet in there, there was no room left
Do you have your cutting table elevated, Carla.
yeah, I spend most of my time here, nan. will definitely need one in our future house.
no, bea, that's one reason I like this other table better.
Killer on the back for cutting over.
zooz i have the same amount found
I do have an elevated ironing table that I made with IKEA stuff
could probably do something similar for cutting table
I have my ironing table set low so I can just turn in my sewing chair and press.
earth fare?
i don't own anything from IKEA but the things they sell are interesting and expensive
earth fare is a grocery chain that is closing so they are selling everything, incl. store fixtures
I think IKEA is interesting and cheap LOL
hokie yes, i just looked earth fare on google and saw that they are closing
we used to have a Ben Franklin here but that went out of business a while back
I was just about to order some storage from IKEA for delivery, but seeing their delivery change and that we are literally just round the corner I've decided to go and collect it. Trying to sort out my store room (was my garage until we turned the front of it into a study)
that's cool jax
our Ben Franklin closed too, a couple of years ago. the one at my mom's is still open though
luckily I have an IKEA nearby so I don't ever get it delivered
is that in charlotte hokie?
but Ben Franklin is a crafts store, was yours grocery?
I don't normally, but as my husband can't be humping furniture about, it seemed easier to do
yes, mlfan
good idea jax
yeah, jax, that makes a difference!
hokie i would love to at least go in an Ikea store
what where you have to follow the arrows and walk the entire thing because if you don't you'll feel like you broke the rules?
I have bought a few things that I had no business loading into a vehicle by myself, but I still managed. :D then made the kids unload them when I got home. luckily they are usually in several boxes.
lol hokie
LOL, evanonut. Yes, but they have shortcuts marked that you are welcome to take.
There's shortcuts all the way through the store, saves loads of time if you know what you want and where it is. And also the times to go to avoid the crowds
Oh I don't think I can. What if I miss something that I couldn't live without?
Is it cold out there, CArla?
my husband always mentions the fact that people buy big things like cases of bottled water and cant get them in their cars by themelves
evan are you sure?
Yep, I only go during the week. No weekends.
There's lots of stuff like that in IKEA. My best was we went in for a lightbulb and came out with a sofa!
jax at IKEA?
haven't been to an ikea for years -- ever since we downsized, I've been giving away stuff and trying very hard not to add anything!
cold and frosty this morning, bea. 41 right now, so yes.
Yes.
jax and no light bulb?
oh we are downsizing too cyber. and mlf, definitely sure. could be a tragic loss.
We got the lightbulb as well. Love IKEA for all of the basic furniture. It's reasonable quality and lasts well
we need to get a few new/newer things for our home
at one point my husband told me I couldn't go with this one friend anymore because I always spent too much $$ with her for some reason. haha.
jax that's so cool
MLFAN it is in North Charlotte, so closer to you than if it was south
hokie great influence?lol
IKEA is way too close to us. Takes less than 5 minutes to drive there.
looking in my sewing room right now, I count no less than 9 different IKEA pieces :D
I'd rather go to a thrift store or second hand stores. =)
I am about 15 min drive, jax, so just as dangerous.
bea, I never have that kind of luck at thrift stores
lol - the quail just came out of hiding. It is the funniest thing ever to watch them floundering through the snow :)
It depends on the area of the store. I only look for items to upcycle. Always looking for 100% wool clothing for wool applique. Sometimes, I wll find a lovely quilt that nees to find a home.
yeah hubby and i don't have much luck at goodwill stores everytime we go there
bzz what do you upcycle?
Ah, I do not go to Goodwill. They are not non profit.
Currently, I am looking for baskets for flower planting. Also looking for teapots to make bird houses and feeders from. It just depends on what the need of the moment is. =)
yesterday I made an ottoman pouf and stuffed it with all my fabric scraps
the thrift store we have here are a bit more expensive and don't have much variety goodwill i good for clothing sometimes
bzz ohhh
good idea hokie
I think that is upcycling
pretty much yes
do you have a 'restore' down there bea? They usually have all that stuff and the proceeds go to habitat for humanity. We donated all kinds of stuff to them when we downsized.
we have one somewhere in this metro area, nan. I need to check into it.
My favorite place to go is The Scrap Exchange in Durham. Google them and then look at the pictures of the things they have at Scrap Thrift Store and the Reuse Art Shop under the Retail Store shop tab. The stuff they have there is amazing!
oh yea we have Restore here my hubby bought a computer chair there for like 10 bucks
great condition too
i gtg will be back...
Most of the Restore here is furniture and building supplies. We bought several cases of subway tile for the kitchen backsplash there. We also bought several really cool vintage light fixtures for our old house. I always find some cool things at restore that I can rework.
ok - our Restore has a china and glassware section as well.
I also bought our kitchen light fixture (brand new overstock from Home Depot) and some tile for the laundry room countertop there for a song.
I'm off to run errands. Until tomorrow.
bye bea!
looks like I have 3 restores in areas I shop in
that will keep you busy for a while :)
:)
*!*~*!* any clues wanted?
