The Hamas attacks and kidnappings were an atrocity. Israel's assault on the residents of Gaza is also an atrocity, on a much larger scale, and is arguably attempted genocide. Gaza's residents have no ability to defend themselves or to end the war, because they don't and can't control Hamas.
