9:29 am

How does this work? Can I use any tiles? Do they have to be in order? Or can they be completely selected from random on the board?

9:43 am

serenade - the tiles you use in each word must be touching (top, bottom, sides, diagonally) and you can only use each tile once per word

9:46 am

thanks, I found the rules.

9:47 am

when you say you haven't found the 10 does that mean there's a 10 letter word?

9:52 am

Check out the first posting, seranade. it lists how many words of each length and how many words of each starting letter. the i10/119 is related to the S8/75.

9:53 am

yes it is worth 119 points

9:53 am

... and an S7/52.

9:54 am

thanks for the help

10:12 am

i10/119 relates to 8/70i i8/70 put away a blade S8/75 put away a blade O8/55 stubborn, hardened (two eights missing) A7/32 several definitions: 1) resembling gold 2) having ears E7/44 put underground H7/44 1) encouraged or 2) what the tin man aspired to be N7/28 (pl) characteristics or qualities O7/36 1) more indirect or 2) an angle closer to 180 deg. 10:23 am

thanks for the clues Krys!

10:44 am

A 7/32: supplied with oxygen

10:46 am

The other 8s are variously spelled courtesans.

10:55 am

And there is a 7/H/40 that goes with them. (The 8s are both H/55).

11:20 am

ok, i need to work on all 3 of the "courtesan" words. also need to keep working on the N7, the )7/40, and the S7/52. any news on the last 7?

11:45 am

4.93/3643

12:14 pm

Found all the H words - thank you, Forthright's Phrontistery! Ricey, what was that last 7 we were looking for?

12:42 pm

krys: id never heard of that site before, just checked it out and its fab!!

12:43 pm

So I am short one elusive B. Can anyone help? Ba4x7, Ba5x4, Ba6 Be4x3, Be5 Bo4x2, Bo5 Bu4x2, Bu5x2, Bu6

12:53 pm

Amazingly, I can! I'm still missing 6 Bs, but you're missing a BH4. :)

1:06 pm

ah, didn't occur to me the second letter might not be a vowel. Thanks, testing!

1:09 pm

i could use some help on the N7/28, O7/40, and the S7/52...havent found any of the Ns yet, actually...

1:14 pm

If those are the only big ones you're missing, then you've already got the S/7/52. It's a part of another word. ;) For the O - consider a contest among authors (akin to a pie-eating type of contest). The winner would be said to have "O******" the others. It's a bit archaic, but does make sense and isn't totally obscure. The N is plural of an N6 which is a very common, everday type of word. Think outdoors. The third N is an N5/10 that appears in these puzzles pretty often.

1:14 pm

all i have of those is the S. Think about how one carries a sword.

1:26 pm

ahh, i had the S6 version of that word...didnt know about the variable in spelling!

1:30 pm

ok, got the O7, now i just gotta work on the Ns...none of them are popping out at me, so i think i gotta noodle! hehe

1:30 pm

I believe the 6 is the noun and the 7 is the verb.

1:34 pm

ahh! finally got the N6/7 combo! one of those *DUH* moments! gonna noodle around for the N5 now!

1:35 pm

The last 7 is a D/44--it's an obscure spelling of an obscure cereal grain that's shown up here before--play with a gloomy D4 to find it.

1:36 pm

(and three shorter variation(s))

1:39 pm

BTW - My 6/7 verb/noun statement below is about the S words - not the Ns, in case it confuses anyone. :)

1:41 pm

ahh, that makes sense then, testing :)

1:50 pm

hrmmm...this D7 is gonna drive me bonkers, isnt it? hehe

1:57 pm

my goodness, you guys have been productive over the last hour! I'm close to finishing the H's and the O's: OBx3, OUx5 (missing one) HA4x7, HA5x5 HE4x2, HE5x3, HE6x2, HE7x2, HE8x2 Hi4x1, HU4x1 (missing three) Can anyone help?

1:59 pm

There are Oux6--one does not share the others' third letter

2:00 pm

HA4x8, HA5x6, HE4x3 You're missing an OU. I have 1x5, 4x6 and 1x7.

2:04 pm

Much thanks to you both!

2:05 pm

i thought there were only five eights?

2:06 pm

sorry, nevermind, i can't read.

2:06 pm

Yep.

2:06 pm

Hee hee - that was in response to your question - I'm not saying you can't read! :-D

2:18 pm

OK, I'm going to do a dump of all the letters that I'm still missing something. I'm only missing 1 or 2 of each, so hopefully they'll help someone. 2:35 pm

RA5x4

2:38 pm

And that led me to an RA6. :)

2:46 pm

I'm missing a ton of S's, but I have SA5x2

3:05 pm

Found the last D: DU4x4

3:07 pm

Doh - That was easy once you said so. Why don't they appear the first time you look????? So, that leaves for me a T5 and a T6 that add up to 39 points.

3:18 pm

Nope, make that 38 points.

3:20 pm

TU5x2

3:21 pm

and TA6.

3:52 pm

10:44 pm

Bah! I have a paper due on Friday!

11:34 pm

treeshar! papers are for suckers. especially when there's babbling to be done.

11:41 pm

Well, my paper is babble, so there you go. If I were to take my paper, and put it up in a 5 x 5 grid, how many coherent throughts do y'all think you could make out of it?
