Mel! :)
Morning all. ca7 is a new one for me
Thanks for the ca7, Molly. Is a new one here as well.
What's up Bea? How is Tuesday so far?
Name that Proper Noun - famous conference
yalta
Very Excellent - your prize: Head of State for a Day!
yippee!

Hey, Molly...was out rambling in the web...Tuesday is going well, so far.
na 4/6
sheesh ty
now off to do errands
Don't forget your mask!
fo 7/56 please?
Bea and Nan: The mask reminders
Same word as the fo8
thanks Bea, that's a silly word
We have to wear our masks in public here in NC.
We have to wear masks in CT, but so many people leave their noses open
hi all
Heloo, jm
:)
fo 8/75, pls
'morning, all
hi welki
how are you feeling, jm? all better?
yes, thanks. except perhaps a little hung over this morning
fo8 is a compound word, bichon
waved the Saab goodbye. probably at a salvage yard now. :(
we can spin that into a covid-related side effect :)
sure. why not
Did you have a wreck, jm?
always sad to see them go
saabs are a wreck upon release at the factory
I found a fo7 which is a compound
I literally waved goodbye to my last car (after 10 years) as it was towed off to the place I donated it.
aside from an audi s5 cabriolet, they were our favorites, ru - and not one wreck in the bunch
well.. ours wasn't .. it was the biggest POS we've ever owned
we had six of them, you got the lemon
Masks are only required in stores here. It is up to you how you proceed in open areas. It is very difficult to walk or run with them on, so many only pull their masks up if they come into contact with others. And they are certainly not required while driving alone in your car.
My mask comes off the minute I hit the door of the grocery store. I can't stand the things.
the masks don't bother me that much..
not looking forward to wearing it all day in class come september
esp when I have to put on my glasses to read, and they get all fogged up.
hi, harry
You do not have to wear a mask when you are outside exercising, but you better have on handy.
hello welki :)
I don't wear one to run - I just give people coming the opposite way a wide berth.
some schools are considering using face shields instead of masks - that's an option
love the face shield - I'd look like a welder!
and walk around the halls saying "luuuke I am your faaaather"
my guess is that, with kids, you'd get better compliance with the shields. and yes harry, a face shield and a tool belt - wowza!
their was a discussion on tv this am about the pros and cons of wearing both at the same time
I saw a picture of dr.s attending to a covid patient. They had a picture of themselves on the gown so the patient would know what they looked like.
may I have a clue for the ly5 pls?
Clued at 8:01
(bea, jm must be away - she wasn't in an accident, she replaced the car)
I see. Thanks, welki.
got it ty
JM is happy she can get places now though
nbt and halfway! bbl!
her red saab was a hot little car - but i think she's happy with her new one, the amphibious tesla :)
most saabs get hot getting stuck on the side of the road I've heard
I used to see a Saab around here with a personalized plate, "SNAAB". Later I saw one with the plate "SLAAB."
you sure have a hate on for saabs, ru - good thing they stopped production, or the rage would be eternal :D
i'll have to tell you my SAAB story some time Welki.. we did get a brand new Lemon for sure.. but i didn't like her first saab either, very uncomfortable care and handled terribly
what year/model was it?
hi, pastor
I can't remember .. i will have to ask Laurie.. it was maybe a 1990 or 1992 or something like that.. we've had lexus cars every since
HI welki! Also bye, welki - just on my way out, have a good day!
we bought it new.. a turbo.. we traded it in with 29,000 miles on it.. it had more miles on a tow truck than we drove it
AAA almost cancelled her membership from too much usage... she used to get xmas cards from all the tow truck drivers in the area
that's bad - we had nothing but good experiences with ours. we started buying them when we were broke - old cars, my first was a 9000 turbo - most difficult thing was finding a mechanic
the final straw was they worked on the car (the dealer was more than an hour away over a mountain range here) and she got about 3 miles from the dealership and asked me to come get her... I told her I would only come if we'd buy her a new car that ran.. it spent most of its life in the shop and it never ran well
we got rid of our last two only because saab stopped production and parts became really hard to order
sorry occasionally I have to work.
my Saab died of old age and I donated it to the Kidney Foundation who were very helpful in the last year of my husband's life.
I now have a Tesla which is the most beautiful and comfortable and fun car I have ever owned. It is a kick to drive!
I had decided that I needed an automatic because I didn't want to be the old lady who hesitates and let's her car roll down the hill or stall out.
safe to say you get a charge out of your tesla
But I wanted a car that was good for the environment and when
My fun car is a british racing green mini cooper. My sensible car is an audi
hi! I just got a manual for the first time in years - they now have a button you can push to keep from rolling back on a hill. haven't had to use it yet. :D
i learned to drive on the streets of SF.. i can do clutches on a hill
when I researched electric cars the articles would say this and that and almost always end with--but its not a Tesla.
I can do clutches on hills now. . . it was later that I was worried about.
I learned to drive in the rolling hills of the Appalachians, not as bad as SF, but definitely some hills.
Most people in the uk drive manual cars. An automatic isn't standard.
my Tesla is both my fun car and my sensible car
PS - in the Appalachians we call manual transmission cars "straight drives"
jax, I was shopping for a manual mini here in US and they are really hard to find. our mini dealer had about 20 used ones and only 2 or 3 of those were not automatics
i like the minis they're at least cute
and great for tall people
haha every time I took my saab to some place with a valet parking attendent I would ask if they knew how to drive a stick before I would hand them my key
Our mini is automatic as my hubby is disabled, but it was extra and the normal is manual. This is semi automatic, so you can drive through the gears, but no clutch needed. Love driving it (it's his car really, but as he can't drive at the moment, i've claimed it for the time being!)
I ended up getting a Honda Civic which is way cuter than it sounds. It's a beautiful blue color too. But everyone jokingly asks what grade I'm in.
there is so much room in my Tesla what with no drive train bump and no internal combustion motor no radiator no fan no . . . .
i had a few hondas in my life.. i liked them
we have an audi and an acura that you are automatic but you can change gears. I never use that or understood the point.
those are big positives jm
Colour is so important on a car. Try never to go for the black/white/silver/grey options.
last honda I had ru, was an odyssey :D
the only up keep is tires, wind shield wipers and wiper fluid
agreed, jax. we have 2 white cars and I was like, I do not want anymore white!
oops.. i have a grey truck and a black audi
I bought used so got stuck with black. I wanted blue
JM has been in my audi
we have a chevy zr2 colorado truck and it is called electric blue, but looks purple a lot depending on the light. so we have 2 white and 2 blue vehicles.
In our house we have green, orange, bright blue and midnight blue cars.
haha I was just thinking that ru
my saab was red. the cops would follow me in small towns.
my honda is called aegean blue
they were just waiting until it broke down to help you JM
I've always heard red is a cop magnet
red and yellow for sure hokie
i am stuck
not finding much here either
I would get stopped for minor things like one burnt out taillight. Then they would see it was an old lady driving and they wouldn't follow me the next time
I think I saw my missing c is a ca7 that is new to molly and bea but not able to figure it out. can anyone spare a clue?
i don't have any ca7's
well, now you know ;)
now i have a ca 7
need a clue still homie?
Yes please ru
a metal recepitcle + a device to catch animals
Thanks ru
weird, thanks
vanilla ice ca7
time to get to work.. will be back to finish later.
have fun everyone
Is that a second ca7 hokie?
ty ruru
bye ru
haha it took me a minute to get your joke hokie
Not getting vanilla ice ca7
Oh, I forget about him (with pleasure)
not a 2nd one, jax
trote
Ok I won't go looking

it's funny how you see a word one way and there is a totally different way to look at it
yep, happens to me a lot here
Or when you can not see a word for the meaning suggested due to lack of punctuation
yesterday or recently we had dang and I was like, let me try dang-er. oh, it took! then it hit me that danger is a real word.
Well, I don't see why the guy who says "dang" all the time wouldn't be a dang-er : D
exactly
phantom payola
and how is there smiley but not fr5y?
because people say one and not the other i guess lol
As if anything about this game will ever change, but I think it should say "whatever word you entered" does not appear in The Enable Word list (not in the dictionary) because a lot of the words Enable won't take DO appear in the dictionary
People say fr5y
guess i must have missed it
morning all
morning moo
morning hursh, happy end of June
same to you :)
does anyone else really miss plurals when there is no S in a grid?
nope
howdy moo
not for me
i don't
stuck at 45 left. can't find one a from the 5th col.
I don't "miss" them per se, but I do wonder how many words there might be if there was one in the grid. The other day, it was a big grid but the E and D were not near each other. I wondered how many words there woul have been if they had been next to each other.
going for a hike now
time to get going to the dentist. not looking forward to this.
cleaning or serious procedure, TO?
perio cleaning. new hygeinist, and not allowed to use electronic cavitron.
and overdue, of course, since they were closed.
yeah
good luck :)
i've been on the phone with apple support for over 15 minutes with some horrible excuse for classical music playing. ugh. still better than the dentist, though :)
thanks, bbl for the last 5

Wow, I didn't think someone from the UK would know what was on a South Carolina license plate
ty for the pa 8 hurshy
lol -- it did take the 2nd clue for me
oh i had to look it up :)
what's the difference between a pa4 tree and a pa8 anyway?
have no idea -- I know there are several different types of pa 4's -- guess the 8 is just one of them. Seems to me there are even several different varieties that produce dates.
Size. P4's can get to 80 feet, pa8's only get to 30 ft

Not sure if this grid was friendlier than yesterday's grid. This one stinks too.
I am always amazed when someone uses the word "friendly" for these grids.

hello friends
Hello :)
newest nest full of baby birds hatched yesterday - SO cute
back from the hike. saw my first rattlesnakes in the wild.
wow that's a lot of nature!
tro
only other thing we saw was a squirrel. like we don't have a million of those at home.
sorry fingers running away again
I like squirrels better in the woods
not sure which way you mean it, but yes, I like squirrels better in the woods than my house and I like squirrels better than rattlesnakes in the woods.
phantom parlor
I don't like squirrels much in my yard
although I like them a little better than bunnies in my yard (don't tell Scrabs)
40 left. I am going to the list.
just opened the list with 43, but then realized I have 13 4's so I think I'll try those first.
wow, found only 1 4. these must be some weird words
some of them are unpleasant.
of course one is real. just realized we have 2 singing voices today.
HH, that's one word for them, lol
finding many unpleasant words in this here grid
I am not finding them, just skipping them on the list
done. to be honest, I had missed many easy 4s.
clues needed?
... there seem to be a number of 5's ending with "er" where there is unexpectedly a 4 ending with "e'"
no thanks, probably just going to quit soon
any clues for pa8 please?
state tree for SC
did not see that, thanks!
I had to get a clue too. but you're welcome!
Or another bug name for large flying roaches. O_o
ugh, those are the worst
lol, at least they are generally in one's home looking for water, not to move in and take up residence.
we don't really have them in charlotte, but I've seen them on vacations
alright, saving 14 for later. TTFN

happy birthday ORI
Thanks, ru!
it's your birthday, ori?....happy birthday to you!
your present awaits you at my friend
I will sing the song to you the next time I wash my hands... ;o)
Thanks, pen
at my friend's store.. dropped it off at 1:00
they shouldn't drink much of it
:D
Happy Birthday Origami & many more.
I am going to pick it up tomorrow. I have one more conf call at 5:00 (resenting the start time I am). Then it's all about lollygagging around.
Thank you, Christa
I wonder if I have a G&T during the zoom meeting if they will stop inviting me to ones that late in the day
you go girl!!!
i had one today.... ;o)
i'm having one after my bike ride today.. unless my pet sitter drank the last tonic i have
I have an all day online meeting tomorrow, but I am one of the first speakers, so many a G and T or two will smooth out the remaining 7 or 8 hours...
<-likes the sound of two
Before the plague, I hardly drank at all. These days, I can't say that!
I used to have to attend two days of back-to-back all day meetings (out of town) once a month. It was the pits.
lol....
How did you manage it? Because I have meetings all day tomorrow and the next day. The only good thing is that I can't be in another meeting that was scheduled at the same time!
Worse yet, they get started at 6 am my time--since most of the participants are in the UK.
funny before the plague i drank more :D
It was challenging to stay awake after the working lunch.
We're got two "comfort breaks" only...I might have to sneak in a sanity break or two.
Sometimes we would have the most mind-numbing presentations by IT people.
Once the UK folks have signed off, I think a G and T for us survivors is definitely called for.
BTW, origami, I love your icon.
Thanks.
I think most meetings are a complete and total waste of time. I can't even imagine the point of two days worth of back to back meetings. There just isn't that much to say about anything.
They were working meetings during an administrative review. They involved the dreaded term "break up into small groups."
I don't know how you do it. I would be looking for a window to jump out of. I have a very low threshold for administrative bullshit.
happy birthday, ori!
Oh, it's your birthday. Happy birthday Origami. And a present from Ru on the way. Good times.
time for evening walk. have fun
Thank you, TO and Molly.
Happy birthday, origami!!
Have to head out to that meeting now. See you later.
Thanks, Une.

ty Molly
Yes, peri. Thank you.
So appropriate molly
I was thinking of a different clue, but I figured that would promote another tirade.
<--- trying to think of a provacative clue for to 7
😂
Sorry, this isn't the grid with bondage in it
can I have a ly clue?
I almost said something about that one the other day :D
never mind, peri'ed it
I meant to post on it but I was tied up
Best I didn’t someone would have been cuffed. Er I mean chuffed
Don't make me issue a gag order.

Thank you, trif
I can't decide if I like this grid or not.
not a lot of greying going on
Here, let me help. I hate it. Oh, and happy birthday origami
Oh, ever since my Masochistic Baby went and left me I got nothin' to hit but the wall. She loved me when I beat her, But I started actin' sweeter, And that was no way to treat her at all. Yes, she is the one that I'm dreamin' of, And you always hurt the one you love. And ever since my Masochistic Baby went and left me, I got nothin' to hit but the wall, oh no Nothin' to beat but the eggs Nothin' to belt but my pants Nothin' to whip but the cream Nothin' to punch but the clock Nothin' to strike but a match.
parlor (phantom) (hi all)
Robin Trower is in the grid
Thank you, Douglas.
Douglas should have been on the other day for the bondage word :D
my goodness!
I'm sure Douglas's poetic offering is tongue-in-cheek :D
The late great Shel Silverstein created this...this...this thing.
Really? Interesting.
he wrote that song "sylvia's mother" too
And don't forget "A Boy Named Sue," a hit for Johnny Cash
stop I still have a Robin Trower earworm. lol
I'm happy to report that Robin Trower is alive and well and still recording and performing https://www.trowerpower.com/
Yes I know I saw him last year in a Nashville club. Normally it is standing room only but they had chairs for all the old folks. It was alos one of the few concerts I went to where the line for men's room was way way longer than the ladies. We all laughed about that. He can still play an amazing guitar. I hope I get to see him again
wasn't he in Procol Harem?
harum? (sp?)
yes he was.
i saw them at the Filmore when I was a preteen
<---now really dating himself
I am not quite that young. But I did see trower in the 70s. Bridge of Sighs is still one of my favorite alobums even without the chemical enhancement lol
lol book ... been there done that ... and the album is in my playlist also
firewords. TY for the earworms
hi bookwomen! and good night all, too tired to find my last 16
