7:20 am

Rainy day here in DC Metroville. I'm glad all the stay at home workers are off the road.

7:21 am

We had a little rain last night. It is clouding up again. We can use some rain.

7:22 am

We are saturated here. Flood warnings everywhere.

7:25 am

afternoon all, thankfully dry and sunny but cooler today here in London :)

7:26 am

I'd go for cooler. It is sweltering here the last few days.

7:26 am

I would enjoy cooler. I have this vague memory of something called "fresh air".

7:26 am

Yes, the humidity has been horrid.

7:27 am

It's 28C so low 80s rather than 35C which is mid 90s

yeah, someone called it at the flip or I'd have never gotten it.

10:01 am

why isn't oafiest a word??

10:02 am

How many words do you know that can mean Roman troops, a Roman flag or a papilionaceous (and isn't THAT a word) flower?

10:03 am

I know, I was okay reading the first definitions and then it went to the flower one and I was like, okay. WTH

10:03 am

Oafiest is not a word because the Enable word list makers are the oafiest and they chose not to include their description.

10:04 am

10:08 am

10:09 am

Do you have the person doing a jail sentence for all of his days?

10:09 am

10:11 am

Well, having it before doesn't really make it "common". And according to the definition, it is from the year 900.

10:11 am

did not have the 6 version of that word, thx

10:12 am

maybe, but it is still in use meaning some would rather do one thing than the other

10:13 am

Doesn't that word end in a u?

10:15 am

I've never heard that word used or read it in a book

10:15 am

I haven't either Carla.

10:16 am

anyhoo, 1st row and 1st column gray!

10:24 am

if only the plural of moose was meese

10:25 am

any mh?

10:26 am

No

10:26 am

missing 2 m's from each m tile

10:26 am

Delurking (Hello, everyone!) to say that the li4 word under discussion always makes me roll my eyes a bit. I believe I have only heard it used on an old tv show from 1965-66ish, called "Tammy"--it was a "Beverly Hillbillies" sort of plot. There were Tammy movies before the tv show with Sandra Dee and Debbie Reynolds, but I'm not sure I saw those. Anyway, I think of the word as a hillbilly word.

10:26 am

thx

10:27 am

that's funny, filomena (and welcome). I grew up a hillbilly and have never heard anyone say it, though we do use a lot of older words.

10:28 am

I was just going to say, Carla is our resident hillbilly expert

10:29 am

morning all

10:29 am

11:07 am

Keifer Sutherland is such a youngster in that and Stand By Me.

11:07 am

yep

11:10 am

11:11 am

90% done

11:11 am

11:12 am

Sh and re. One normal, one not

11:12 am

re8

11:12 am

can i have a clue for the non-normal one? :D

11:12 am

I wouldn't say the one is actually normal

11:13 am

Sounds like Omar, the actor.

11:13 am

oh, we had that one just recently too!

11:13 am

so the re is normal-ish

11:14 am

it's a superlative of a regular word, but it's stupid IMO

11:14 am

Well, it's clumsy grammar but i didn't have trouble finding it

11:14 am

thanks, got it!

11:15 am

I still need 7 7's :(

11:15 am

how many words are you down to now, hokie?

11:15 am

11:16 am

3H, 2M, 2M, 3F, 3E(right), 3S (right), 5R, 3T

11:17 am

very similar here just a few less, but same tiles

11:18 am

5 4's, I will work on those

11:18 am

With a nick nack patty wack give a Hursh a bone

11:19 am

i think i will get the list

11:29 am

I'm going to have to too. only found 1 of those 4's and nothing else

11:31 am

well, i wasn't missing anything easy to find, except for one plural

11:32 am

well, I started at the bottom of the list. I missed the girl scout cookie.

11:37 am

is the te7 a regular word?

11:38 am

think of Girl Scout cookies Hokie

11:38 am

that's tr7 that I just mentioned :D

11:39 am

no, te7 is very weird

11:39 am

oops so you did, sorry :)

11:39 am

it goes with tr6 and just sticks another e in

11:40 am

weird, thx

11:42 am

wow RME at one of the 4's I missed - a politician * for office

11:43 am

what is RME

11:44 am

rolling my eyes - I announced one day I've made up my own acronym for babble

11:44 am

like SMH

11:44 am

ah cool cool

11:44 am

what is SMH

11:44 am

shaking my head

11:45 am

thanks :D

11:45 am

that one is standard internet fare

11:46 am

ooh, gotta do something BBL

11:57 am

I'm back. also hurshy, sometimes you see SMDH, which is shaking my damn head.

12:01 pm

hi all. 74 left and stuck

12:01 pm

keep trudging, I was stuck at first there but managed to make it to 23

12:02 pm

ok

12:02 pm

I need 11 of the 7s

12:03 pm

yeah, they're hard, even with the list

12:03 pm

currently trying to find me7

12:07 pm

me7: ** se5 to have lost me way, methinks

12:08 pm

thx, what a weird one

12:09 pm

finished. only missed a couple of easy ones, the rest were weird

12:09 pm

if only I had a thesaurus I could use another word besides weird

12:09 pm

I don't get the clue :(

12:10 pm

wtg carla

12:10 pm

67 left now

12:10 pm

it se5 like you might need another clue

12:11 pm

ty both very odd word

12:11 pm

archaic of course

12:16 pm

trying to multi-task...41 left here

12:16 pm

I just thought you were hiding so you wouldn't see clues ;)

12:18 pm

well trying to avoid those too

12:18 pm

this has been an easier board so far

12:19 pm

yes, fairly easy for me with the exception of about 15%

12:20 pm

down to 24 to go

12:26 pm

I think you will finish this one

12:26 pm

well, down to 20 now

12:26 pm

12 left here, you can do it Mool!

12:26 pm

9 different tiles still open

12:27 pm

still have an 8 and five 7s to go too

12:27 pm

retes

12:27 pm

yeah, was in a very similar boat

12:27 pm

I still have 1 8 and 2 7's to find

12:30 pm

8 of my last 20 are s's too

12:32 pm

I had more trouble with the r's. do you have the first col s's done?

12:32 pm

still 4 left on that s

12:32 pm

got all the r's

12:32 pm

down to 6 s's needed

12:33 pm

LMK if you want me to guess :D

12:33 pm

2 more s's down

12:33 pm

was missing the lard

12:34 pm

hi again

12:34 pm

had to look hard to see what that was LOL

12:34 pm

hey nan, happy Thursday

12:35 pm

for some reason I thought that was bird food. what am I thinking of?

12:35 pm

hey again, nan

12:35 pm

it is

12:35 pm

but it's traditionally made out of lard

12:36 pm

it was/is used to make a bunch of human food, particularly in the UK and Europe

12:36 pm

interesting

12:37 pm

I do provide the birds premade suet/seed blocks tho :)

12:37 pm

the woodpeckers particularly like it

12:37 pm

sadly if I did they would get none before the squirrels

12:38 pm

squirrels don't eat it so much, they will if nothing else is around, but they much prefer seeds

12:39 pm

they enjoy our deck garden

12:39 pm

In Pennsylvania I'd get 18-20 squirrels at a time, here in Colorado I might get 1 or 2...max of about 4

12:40 pm

fireworks!!

12:41 pm

our Thurs. am coffee has just been reinstated on the clubhouse patio -- chairs 6 feet apart and bring your own coffee. It was good to visit with everyone again, but it started to get too crowded, so left early.

12:41 pm

congrats dolly

12:42 pm

grats dolly

12:42 pm

me 7 please?

12:42 pm

still 14 left for me

12:43 pm

8 left here

12:46 pm

hershey's clue (spellcheck keeps changing it!) has scrolled off but you should get it from my 12:10 post

12:47 pm

12:10 clue gone also

12:47 pm

no, it was bottom but now this post pushed it off

12:47 pm

oh - found it - nm

12:50 pm

oh, couple of obscure h6s

12:50 pm

9 to go

12:51 pm

ty carla - didn't realize til after I found it that your last post was so specific

1:01 pm

well, stuck a bit at 8 to go, need to jump on a call

yeah, nan, I guess it made more sense in context

you can do it, moo!

1:07 pm

keep getting called away - last one - te 7 please?

add a letter to tr6

1:08 pm

ty -- another weird one

1:09 pm

anyone need clues before I leave?

1:11 pm

hagd everyone - stay safe :)

1:28 pm

any clues for the te7,44? feel like I've tried everything

look at my 1:07 post

1:29 pm

just did :)

1:29 pm

ty..got it

:D

1:45 pm

okay, let's see if I can get any of these 8 remaining

1:46 pm

well there's one :)

1:46 pm

now just 6s, 7s and an 8

1:47 pm

ah, there's the 8 (and a 7)

noice

1:54 pm

still have avoided all but one clue :)

hard to do with the weird ones today

1:55 pm

yeah, got the h's based on educated guess

1:55 pm

and the l7 was a guess too

1:55 pm

f

1:56 pm

the one starting letter/length clue, I actually haven't found yet :)

which?

1:57 pm

me7

ah, I clued it after hurshy clued it for me, then I tried to direct nan to that earlier but she wasn't getting it without context. I will tell you it's archaic.

1:59 pm

yes, I saw the end of that

1:59 pm

which is how I know there's an me7

and that didn't give it away ;D

oh, I see what you meant now

that's the only word you've been spoiled about but you haven't found it yet

2:01 pm

yep

I'm surprised you missed all the t related ones just a bit ago

2:02 pm

mostly because I've been playing over or between calls, so haven't really paid attention to chat

I am quilting right now

2:03 pm

re

2:05 pm

I thought you said you were quitting :)

it kinda looked that way to me too when I glanced back

2:09 pm

hello, could I get the stats for the lone E please?

2:10 pm

EM 4/6

2:10 pm

em4/6

2:11 pm

ah the birdie

2:11 pm

stats for the middle A please?

2:11 pm

am 5/12, ah 4/6 and am4/6

2:14 pm

thanks

2:14 pm

nbt

2:30 pm

still 5 to go

what letters?

2:32 pm

H, M, S, T, T

2:32 pm

just 6s and 7s

I have a guess on the H

still M7?

2:33 pm

yes

not really an odd single S, there is a regular one that's the most but the root is only 3 letters

I think your 2 t's are the ones I clued earlier

obviously you missed the clues, but just pointing out they are weird

let me know if you want the 2nd letter to any of my guesses

2:37 pm

didn't see any t clues, but will keep looking a little longer

2:38 pm

any clue for me7,36?

ok, avert your eyes for me7, moo

2:40 pm

okay

suzee, methinks it ***** like you need some help

me + ***** from that sentence

2:42 pm

lol...thank you!

2:43 pm

7 to go..all s's

alright, I'm off to the quilt shop. don't like the fabric for my border and didn't even buy enough before.

2:55 pm

te 7/44, pls

2:55 pm

too many H's in this grid.

2:58 pm

any clues for the V word? ty

2:58 pm

oh my i just got it with monkeys. weird. never saw that one before. ve 5

2:59 pm

hase

2:59 pm

oops sorry

3:02 pm

any clues for 7s or 8s? ty. dont get tge ones below.

3:02 pm

bichon do you have tr 6/30?

3:39 pm

Ah had some work I needed to focus on

3:40 pm

I shot the s8....alternate

3:40 pm

The great barrier r4 is the r8 of the r4s that are on the planet

3:41 pm

t7, perhaps this is meant for wrapping your oak to protect it from aliens

3:42 pm

ru6/7 might refer to those who are receiving the running back's yards in an NFL game

3:43 pm

I can give more 7s if you need them

3:43 pm

Most are plurals of 6s

tr 7 is a girl scout cookie - shortbread

3:44 pm

well yeah, but my definition is more creative :)

I guess :D

3:45 pm

heh

3:47 pm

still have 5

3:51 pm

okay, I caved...looked at you me clue

3:51 pm

*your

well, I would've been surprised if you'd thought of that word on your own

looks like no one called it at the flip

do you want the h stat?

(my guess at least)

3:59 pm

I do please, carla

3:59 pm

59 left took a long break

4:00 pm

no, missing one h still

ha6, peri. looks plural, but no singular

4:00 pm

actually just the second letter please

sorry!

4:01 pm

ty carla

4:01 pm

oh, no worries...all good

4:01 pm

3 to go

2 t's still?

4:01 pm

got the other bizzaro h words, but missed that one

4:01 pm

yep, 2 t's and an s

4:01 pm

assuming a t6/7 combo and an s7

4:02 pm

but who knows

4:02 pm

bottom t

well, the 2 t's are related by have different 2nd letters, so not really a combo

4:02 pm

oh, just one t today

4:02 pm

still stuck on yesterday

*by actually should be but

4:03 pm

ah

I think your s is probably similar to an f in meaning

4:05 pm

I have that one

4:05 pm

the s I'm missing is on the right s

hmm, ok

4:05 pm

nm, found it

4:05 pm

was a plural of a 6 I had

4:06 pm

thought I had typed the plural, but nay

4:06 pm

Okay, need the t6 stats

islands in the *, that is what we are, no one in between, how can we be wrong

tr6/30

4:08 pm

ah yes, obvious really....*looks for roll eyes button*

4:08 pm

well that's fw

RME is my acronym

well done

4:09 pm

bit light on my hebrew

but you got the t7?

4:09 pm

hebrew is difficult because the structure is way different

4:09 pm

yep

4:10 pm

same with hindi

yeah, I don't really know hebrew or hindi

4:10 pm

neither do I, but those words tend to be the more exotic ones we find a lot of the time

I actually didn't know the tr4 was hebrew until I looked today

4:11 pm

Neither did I

4:11 pm

so that's my thing learned for the day

yeah, so the tr4 was the definition of the te7 and the tr6 had no def, but I assume it is the same

4:12 pm

right

we'll see if I remember any of them in the future

4:13 pm

I assume the tr is a colloquialism of the 7 and that the six is just a translation alternative or misspelling that became common

4:14 pm

yeah, I don't have high hopes for that one, though things like dacoit and adyta have stuck somewhat

4:14 pm

does seem like we've had a lot more ancient greek words lately

4:15 pm

heh, just looked at the definition of the st6/7 combo, has a tie to yesterday too

yeah, I saw that earlier. so that was the plural you were missing and not the one I was singing about. :D

4:57 pm

Could I have a clue for am5/12 please?

5:07 pm

arab prince, alt spelling Jax

5:11 pm

Thanks

5:32 pm
