Bottoms up.

7:40 am

Greetings, all.

7:40 am

Good morning, Judi.

7:47 am

I will be really glad when November 3rd has come and gone. I'm tired of the build up. And since I have no vested interest in either candidate, it is kind of meaningless to me.

7:47 am

Not voting MollyL?

7:48 am

But you do have a vested interest. You are an American.

7:48 am

I hear ya, Molls. 24/7/365 news coverage is just too much. The speculation, opinion and overall misinformation is tedious. I have to tune it out every few days or so. A news fast, as it were.

7:49 am

But we all have a vested interest - a vote.

7:50 am

When I say no vested interest, perhaps not the correct term, I mean I don't think either candidate is a good one.

7:51 am

Not voting is your right as well.

7:51 am

I am no longer registered to vote. I'm tired of contests with two awful candidates. And I don't believe in voting for "the lesser of two evils".

7:51 am

That is a fair statement. Probably the same sentiment over half of citizens have. It will be a shit show, for susre.

7:52 am

not voting is the same as voting for the greater evil. neutrality helps the oppressor

7:53 am

Thank you dn2bit

7:53 am

People are actually saying that they are voting for Biden because they think he will die while in office, making Kamala Harris the first woman president.

7:53 am

* puts breaks on more political discussion *

7:54 am

Nice fall temperatures we're having lately. *Whistles*

7:55 am

I'm hoping for some rain from Beta.

7:55 am

lol. Had a nice glass of Octoberfest beer last night. Ahh. It was right there next to the pumpkin ale. We tried the pumpkin ale. Tasted like pumpkin pie in a glass.,

7:55 am

Beta? Have we gone all the way through the alphabet already?

7:56 am

Pumpkin flavored beer makes me gag a little.

7:56 am

Yes. Beta was the storm that has Houston under water.

7:57 am

Saw a sign outside a restaurant last year "Pumpkin Pizza" followed by "just kidding"

7:57 am

Oh my, I hope Champ is okay. She's down that way I think.

hahaha. howdy, y'all.

7:57 am

neap

7:57 am

Yeah, the "pumpkin flavored everything" this time of year is kind of over the top.

7:58 am

Morning, Carla.

7:58 am

Alas, tis the season for all things pumpkin. Coffee, bagels, pasta... why not pizza?

7:58 am

Roasted butternut squash is good on a pizza.

7:59 am

I had a veggie pizza with squash on it last night. Can't say I'm a fan.

7:59 am

Did it have red sauce?

8:00 am

There are even pumpkin flavored Cheerios now. Is nothing sacred, I ask?

8:00 am

Yes. Was zucchini squash. The most disposable squash on the planet.

8:01 am

pumpkin toilet paper

8:01 am

I would rather have the squash flowers than the squash. Then again, if I eat it, it will make me gourdgeous.

8:01 am

I'm not a fan of red sauce on my pizza. Prefer just olive oil and garlic or pesto. That is what I put on the butternut squash pizza.

I've been getting oui yogurt and I noticed they have a pumpkin caramel flavor. I almost got it but then thought better of it.

8:02 am

LOL, Jeanius. Pumpkin scented face masks!

8:02 am

I'm a Oui fan too, Carla. But I stick with either strawberry or black cherry.

8:03 am

Carla, have you every made yogurt in your instant pot?

8:03 am

Off to do some work. Maybe bbl.

no, I read about it and decided that's just too much work

8:04 am

That is my thought too. And I don't eat it that much anyway.

doesn't it take like 24 hours, or am I thinking of my bread machine?

8:05 am

I am not a yogurt fan, but my son is. I also read about making it and decided it was too much work.

8:05 am

Yes, it take a long time.

8:05 am

8:11 am

ty

8:11 am

At 7:22 there was talk of a qu in the chat. The word was actually typed in the chat.

8:11 am

ty bea

8:12 am

phantom alright

8:21 am

Hi, All

well, 49 left. managed to close out 5 tiles, came close on a few others, nowhere near halfway on some.

hi, aussie

8:22 am

I've Pummeled the P's first.

wow, I'm not seeing the p's at all, oh, just saw some small horses

8:23 am

Carla, have you ever put a quilt binding on that was one color fabric on front and one color on the back?

8:24 am

Minus the 3rd vowel for the one before it and then singular

the binding itself was different colors? no, that sounds complicated.

8:24 am

I know...

but you hand sew yours on, right?

8:26 am

Yes, I hand sew it.

I don't know why I think that would make it less complicated ;)

8:28 am

The fabric for the front is cut at one width and the fabric for the back is cut at a smaller width. Then they are sewn together then attached to the quilt

that seems like what I was thinking but the quilting math involved...

any ph words?

8:32 am

No

8:32 am

no

thx

have found 15 at least

8:34 am

pa's, pe's, po's

anyone want to guess my missing L?

8:35 am

le5.10

yep, looking now

8:36 am

5 x LA, 6 x LE

8:43 am

I'm off for the day. Lots to get done, I hope.

8:43 am

Bye Busy Bea

8:44 am

still need clue for the i word that is middle of grid please. stats and clue. ty

8:45 am

IIt is a 4 letter word that is in grids all the time

8:45 am

ty molly. what is the first two? ty. in?

8:46 am

i have several i words from other i. so not getting it.

8:46 am

is4

8:46 am

ty

8:46 am

isir

8:46 am

oops sorry

8:47 am

luckily that wasnt it. but just got it. ty.

8:48 am

lasier is not more lazy? not in dict.

8:49 am

you really don't spell that well mkg lazier

8:50 am

ruru spelling was my most challenging subject. i was a math science person.

8:50 am

ah.. i see

8:50 am

but i love this game. weird eh? i hate cross word puzzles though.

8:51 am

this is a fun game for sure most days

8:51 am

yup

8:53 am

off for my swim.

I was surprised lasier didn't take either. I didn't think british use a z.

8:55 am

In some words they do, in others they don't. That is what confuses me. Same with the ou thing. Over there it's flavour but not actour.

I seem to be stuck with 40 left

34 after reading the chat

9:06 am

15 and getting tired of this grid

same

I mean, the getting tired of it part

can I have the stat for the right N? P&TY

9:13 am

ne4

wow, could not see that, thx

but hey, 5th col gray!

9:14 am

it was lit up for me

I just couldn't see any sign of it

these pun threads are a gas

9:15 am

sometimes you can only see it in a window in the chat

9:17 am

but you have to be open to it

9:17 am

Ha ha...gas...open a window...

9:18 am

*Waits for the dog farts comments*

help with the co7 that isn't those who make up words?

9:19 am

military leaders with vegetable rankings :D

somehow I got that, thx :D

9:20 am

:D you had an ear out for it

9:20 am

I thought it was a very clever clue

25 left

9:21 am

i like obscure clues like Haz.. not direct answers unless necessary

I definitely like those better than just spelling it out

9:22 am

most of the time i'm too obscure though

I like giving pop culture clues which is also obscure here sometimes ;)

9:23 am

yeah.. for certain players for sure

like I would say this co7 is like multiple lead singers of Soundgarden

9:24 am

that clue would send me screaming to google

hokie carla - i am here for all your pop culture clues! (especially as they relate to seattle bands! :-) )

alright!

and there's the italian goodbye I never see

9:33 am

i don't even know who soundgarden is

a band. got big in the 90s. lead singer just killed himself a few years ago.

alright, I've had enough - 18 left. 4 4's, 7 5's, and 7 6's. going to the list.

qu 7/40 please?

it's basically in the chat this morning

7:22ish

9:50 am

re 6/27, pls

re + the 4 that starts with the high point tile

5 stubborn words left with the list.

10:01 am

whew, had to look up a couple. one scottish, one no def. what a surprise.

10:02 am

you're done early today, i just got here!

10:05 am

Os Obliterated!

10:08 am

probably could've finished sooner if you were here!

10:14 am

Hs Hacked!

10:16 am

Rs Ravaged!

10:17 am

Fs Flattened!

10:21 am

here's a tough one, if anyone is here...

10:21 am

name that proper noun! Caroline Ingalls' maiden name

10:24 am

oh, that is tough. I watched that show religiously too. I'm sure I'll know it when I see it.

10:25 am

i don't think it was necessarily mentioned in the show. more recently, there have been more books written about her childhood and the recent editions of the original books, of Laura's, show the family tree, that's where i first learned it

10:27 am

Ts Toppled!

10:27 am

ok, finished first pass and have 90% of the words, but, what is the 8?

10:28 am

the 8 is a q

10:28 am

aha, and so is the NTPN :D

10:29 am

ok, then that is pretty obscure. :D I read some of the books when I was a kid, but don't remember anything.

10:29 am

well, again, it's only like, if you look at the back matter, and not of the older editions, that you find it

10:29 am

It was Quiner

10:29 am

if you need help with the 8, the chat will provide

10:30 am

is it weird?

10:30 am

ding ding ding, hurshy's the winner! haha

10:31 am

it was an unknown word to me plus an alt spelling of the unknown word

10:32 am

you mean a 7 and an 8?

10:32 am

yes, the 8 is a pl

10:32 am

good morning everyone :)

10:32 am

no, the main spelling is not in the grid

10:32 am

morning, nan

10:34 am

and for 7s, i now have co7, pa7, pe7, and qu7, what are the other two?

10:34 am

I can see how I was confusing. the 7 was an alt sp of a word I've never heard of

10:35 am

another co7 (think soundgarden)

10:35 am

ar7 (think old lace)

10:35 am

that's a band, right...?

10:35 am

oh man, how did i miss that one

10:35 am

yes

10:36 am

ok i'm more familiar with prof. Co6 West than soundgarden

10:37 am

ok, I have no idea who that is :D

10:37 am

8 left now

10:37 am

I believe ru clued it for me as "military leaders with veggie rankings"

10:37 am

you have no idea who Co6 West is??? wow. look him up, he's pretty awesome.

10:38 am

are you looking for the co 6-7?

10:38 am

no, cnan, we're debating which is the better clue for them, lol

10:38 am

:D

10:39 am

oh - I was going to say it was an amaizing degree granting vegetable

10:39 am

what other Q word do you think i might have missed, hokie

10:39 am

there's a 6/30

10:40 am

ok that's the one then

10:40 am

thanks, got it

10:40 am

thought so

10:40 am

others to guess: a P, and L, an S, a top A and a top i

10:41 am

three of those are 6s

10:41 am

there is a pa5 that is a british spelling that took me forever

10:41 am

i think i have that...

10:41 am

Carla, I had no idea who co West was either.

10:41 am

is that the first pa word you're referring to, hokie?

10:41 am

yes

10:42 am

and thanks, molly, I don't feel so uninformed now. but I never read the news.

10:42 am

the L has to be a 4 or 5 - my last L was le5/10

10:42 am

i have an le5/10

10:42 am

ok it was an la4

10:43 am

a nordic man's name

10:43 am

S's are pretty regular - do you have the one that goes on pageant dresses?

10:43 am

aha no i didn't!

10:44 am

you had the R but not the S? haha

10:44 am

well the r was more of a monkeying thing

10:44 am

do you have ae6?

10:44 am

and ic6?

10:44 am

i didn't! now i do

10:45 am

ok that leaves a P5

10:45 am

there is a pe5/12 that gave me trouble

10:45 am

i have one pe5/12

10:46 am

and a similar pa5/12

10:46 am

ok have the similar one also

10:46 am

watch it be some plural i forgot to put or something

10:46 am

then the pa similar but ends in a different letter

10:46 am

aha that's it! thanks

10:47 am

you are the big winner of GWHIM!

10:47 am

np, love playing guess my missing word

10:47 am

or GWHIM

10:47 am

yeah it's fun (for some of us)

10:48 am

:D

10:48 am

i have a small girl here. she is so darling.

10:49 am

I have an adorable guy who's turning 4 next week. he's currently barking at people outside though.

10:50 am

(the one in my picture)

10:50 am

oh rilla will be 4 next week also! what a coincidence

10:50 am

that's funny!

10:51 am

and that day or the day after will mark 4 years since she was kitnapped by a giant bird

10:52 am

she was born and kitnapped in very quick succession, poor wee girlie

10:53 am

when Winston was a puppy, our neighbors down the street had a puppy just a few days older. one day I was taking him out and saw that puppy out with a teenager, and there was a hawk circling over them. I told him to watch out and I think he thought I was crazy.

10:53 am

those big mean birds are so bad

10:54 am

if they would get rid of squirrels here I wouldn't complain

10:54 am

what's funny is, since she was obviously outside, it's likely that her mom was feral, and so if she hadn't been kitnapped, she'd probably be feral too, instead of being the sweetest darlingest little angel baby the world has ever seen

10:54 am

good point

10:55 am

not that there's anything wrong with being feral. it's just funny.

10:56 am

Unless you're a songbird, or a ground nesting creature. In which case, feral cats have been devastating.

10:57 am

heap

10:57 am

well, yes, this is true. that's part of why TNR is so important, to control the populations.

10:57 am

Absolutely!

10:59 am

I knew Hurshy wasn't talking about a human girl. For a minute I was going to ask who she was babysitting. Then I said to myself, nah. She's talking about her cat.

10:59 am

yeah, feral cats are quite the problem in some areas

11:00 am

Doesn't Bea run a little hotel for them? : D

11:02 am

apparently one of my mom's siblings had like 37 cats when they were growing up and now she & the rest hate cats and any pet for that matter.

11:02 am

re 6/27, pls

11:02 am

did you not see my earlier clue, bichon, or didn't get it?

11:02 am

re + medicine woman

11:03 am

wow, nan pulls out a pop culture ref?

11:03 am

sorry, stepped away

11:04 am

no worries, just wondering if I needed to work on that clue

11:04 am

medicine woman?

11:04 am

re + 4 that starts with high point tile

11:05 am

just need something from more than 10 years ago, carla --- there hasn't been much worth watching for the last decade

11:05 am

ty, thought it was a generic term

11:06 am

there's been GREAT stuff to watch if you know where to look - more streaming than on the old networks

11:06 am

there was an old TV show called "Dr. ****n, Medicine Woman"

11:07 am

most of the shows that appeal to me seem to be on USA netflix which is not the same as what we get in Canada

11:07 am

Yes, remember that being on

11:07 am

I discovered canadian netflix was different when we were there last year.

11:08 am

Oh now I'm curious. What shows appeal to you that you don't get with Canadian Netflix?

11:09 am

I just found out that some of the network shows, like This Is Us, are shown on a delayed basis in Canada.

11:10 am

yes, like we get delayed shows from England

11:11 am

I really don't care for blood & gore, car chases themes and a lot of foul language (although I do like Bosch or shows where 80% of the so called story takes placein a bed. Whatever happened to the ones like West Wing and The Newsroom?

11:11 am

I don't watch any British shows so I didn't know that.

11:11 am

I love The West Wing and The Newsroom. I rewatch both on a regular basis.

11:12 am

yes - I love the British shows too.

11:12 am

I love some British shows

11:13 am

One of my favourites is Vera (the British Columbo)

11:13 am

I wish Aaron Sorkin would come back to television and stop writing for the stage.

11:13 am

I also like British, Canadian and NZ/AU shows. I've even watch Swedish, Danish and French - all good as well as the Italian My Brilliant Friend.

11:15 am

I have never watched a NZ/AU show that held my attention for more than 5 minutes. There is something about the film quality that is off.

11:15 am

I don't know of any

11:15 am

really? i love a lot of NZ/AU stuff.

11:16 am

Brokenwood is good, and 800 Words (that one is odd, because i love every character except the main guy), and Rake was AMAZING

11:16 am

I try to watch every thing by one specific NZ director/writer.

11:18 am

Janet King, too

11:19 am

well I love everything I've ever seen by Taika Waititi, but I haven't seen anything by him not Avengers or Star Wars related

11:19 am

I watched a British series Rosemary and Thyme because I like gardening. Now when I want to find a new series on Netflix I search R & T and they don't have it but the results might give me something similiar. I found Endeavor on my own.

11:20 am

I forgot all about Rosemary & Thyme - I watched that years ago.

11:20 am

had you watched Inspector Morse?

11:20 am

But I also read!

11:20 am

Did you watch Frost as well?

11:21 am

and Morse?

11:21 am

That's good, and, Luther

11:21 am

I also watched like 22 seasons of Midsomer Murders. There is the latest season I haven't seen but couldn't find it free.

11:21 am

Yes Inspector Morse

11:22 am

I've watched all 22 seasons of Midsomer Murders twice - winters get long and dark.

11:22 am

there are soooo many good detective shows from britain

11:23 am

has anyone watched the one with Gillian Anderson from X-Files? I started it but only saw one episode. wondering if I should go finish.

11:23 am

That is what I think. I've watched Wallander (sp) in both Danish and English versions.

11:23 am

one of my faves is Scott & Bailey. the show was created by a woman who thought, "what if we flip the gender balance of ordinary police shows and make this one MOSTLY women?" and it's really good, and the way they question suspects is so brilliant. they talk about having different levels of training in how to do it, and i'm like, yes, yes, this is how it should be done!! none of this cowboy style crap that american police do.

11:23 am

yes, hokie, that one was good

11:24 am

we just got prime tv (comes with amazon prime) and are finding some decent shows there

11:24 am

I wonder if your Prime offerings are different from ours

11:24 am

clg, have you seen that there is a Young Wallander on netflix now? i just watched it and it was good despite the lack of K Branagh

11:26 am

Yes on Young W - waiting for season 2. How many years will I have to wait. What is the one with the young blonde policewomen that later because a DCI?

11:26 am

no idea, carla -- probably just a bunch of shows we never got elsewhere

11:26 am

tennison, you mean, clg?

11:28 am

But cybernan I am reading a book by a Canadian astronaut. Yes on Tennison.

11:29 am

6 left I should concentrate.

11:29 am

here's another good one, only it's american, on netflix - The Good Cop. one of the best shows i've ever seen. it was criminal that it didn't get renewed for a second season.

11:30 am

Yes that was good and another criminal renewal was Battle Creek.

11:32 am

hi all. right column gray

11:33 am

I have found very little on Netlfix that hold my interest for long. watch a lot of documentaries

11:33 am

I did like The Stranger

11:37 am

I loved Dead to Me, I think that's Netflix

11:37 am

I will check that one out

11:37 am

Also GLOW is incredibly awesome

11:37 am

that one too

11:37 am

I also read a lot, big surprise! and have kindle unlimited

11:38 am

slow going here 42 left

11:38 am

need to exercise but don't feel like it ergo babbling

11:38 am

GLOW is set in the 80s and is a fictionalized version of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling show that was real then. So maybe not for everyone, but the acting is really good.

11:39 am

hmm maybe not for me

11:39 am

altho as a kid my sister and I would watch wrestling on T?V with our grandfather

11:39 am

I got 3 mos. free kindle unlimited and never canceled. that's how they get you, like a drug dealer. but I have found some authors and series and actually probably got my money's worth.

11:40 am

The Kaminsky Affair was really funny with Mike Douglas

11:40 am

the acting, costumes, and makeup is just really good on GLOW

11:41 am

peri, have you read Sorry I Missed You on kindle unlimited? I just read it on Sun. and loved it.

11:41 am

help with pe7 or pa7 please

11:41 am

pe7 is flowers or flowering bushes

11:42 am

they are very pretty flowers, ty

11:43 am

pa7 is also pl., looks like an alt sp (minus a cons in the middle) of the things you put over the back wheel of a bike to carry stuff

11:43 am

Fireworks and now I have to go out and divide and replant pe7. I good fall project.

11:44 am

pa 6-7 baskets hanging on each side of the mule

11:47 am

11:49 am

11:49 am

I have no idea

11:49 am

hi ori

11:51 am

go to nashbar, click on accessories, then packs & bags, then you'll see a p word, but you have to remove a letter for the alt sp here

11:51 am

11:52 am

or I could just go to the list :)

11:56 am

1:52 pm

1:57 pm

The one I continually miss is Italian goodbye. In either form.

2:44 pm

ironically that was the first word I saw today...normally miss it too

3:45 pm

I consistently miss as4/4. Just doesn't register with me most doays.

3:47 pm

yeah, I didn't have it :)

4:47 pm

Any other clues for the two hi 6? Not monkeying anything.

4:50 pm
