7:35 am

All three of us are glad to see her feeling better.

7:36 am

I'm glad she is home and out of that useless hospital. Glad to read she is doing better.

8:21 am

'Twas the week of Christmas And all through the chat Not a creature was stirring (Not even a tenrec) Players were staring at their screens to find words Not one was caring About stuffed turkey birds Then, in the PB there arose such a clatter Everyone ran to see what was the matter And what to their wondering eyes did appear But a drunken old Santa, who was chugging a beer "I'm tired of COVID, of masks...quarantine, this isn't Christmas, I'm not digging this scene." Some coffee was brewed and some cookies were made, and the players all came to Old Santa's aid They cheered him up right and they cheered him up quick And soon he was back, to being St. Nick He jumped in his sleigh to get back to his work, He packed up his gifts and then turned with a jerk. And they heard him exclaim, as he pulled on his sweater "Merry Christmas to all, and may next year be better!"

12:39 pm

carolina, you can find the word list (only the first 2 letters and the count) by clicking on Lickety's Babble Clues underneath the letter boxes below the grid. That should help you a lot. :)

I'm surprised Babble is not blocked on a school's laptop. Assuming school laptops are to be used for school stuff.

12:44 pm

yeah but i can find stuff that is not blocked

12:45 pm

that is why I am asking for help because my administrator blocks things

12:47 pm

If you can see the grid and add words you should be fine.

12:48 pm

im 16 i don't know half of the stuff on here

12:50 pm

It's true that a lot of words are unusual (to say the least) but probably 75% are regular words. Try pluralizing words that you already have--you may be surprised that you've missed plurals. (I often do!)

you will learn in few days :)

Hi all. Still need clues for any 7s out there. With stats please. Ty.

2:38 pm

That or word is an abbreviation and I don’t know why some are taken and others not. Weird.

2:42 pm

Any clues for any 7s please? Ty

2:45 pm

It is actually not an abbreviation or a prefix. It is an actual word with this definition: pertaining to or occupying two adjacent positions in the benzene ring

au5,12?

etwees

etwee

4:01 pm

Hi Carolina, if someone asks for the stats they would like something like et5/18 posting in the chat, not the word or a clue. I know you’re new so I’m only saying. Thank you. Hope you’re enjoying playing.

4:10 pm

You guys, I am CRYING laughing. DH just came back from the thrift store with boys coats to put on the goats. I just about wet my pants laughing, seeing them run around....they ARE much warmer though! Vincent was well pleased, Leo a lot less so

okay sorry

4:29 pm

In general, the rule is never to post a word from the grid in the chat. Some people will even replace a word in their casual with the stats if the word is in the grid.

4:29 pm

casual *chat*

4:29 pm

Of course, it does happen by accident

4:37 pm

Welcome Carolina. There is also the imaginary place called the Penalty Box (PB) for short. It originated as a place to go for things like typing words from the puzzle in the chat, but people also put treats in there as well. In fact I just put some warm cinnimon buns in there now.

4:37 pm

could i have the count for the lone i please?

4:38 pm

oooh, wht, that makes me want to cheat, just to go to the PB!!!

weu heu bleu1

6:20 pm

(80 minutes later)

6:41 pm

yeu can't undeu

6:46 pm

Well, this is kind of funny. In Alberta, we've now got anti-maskers saying "Defund the police!"

6:49 pm

(Basically because the police are enforcing the masking requirements.)

6:51 pm

I can understand why people don't think masks prohibit the transmission of COVID. I don't understand why they would go to that extreme. I just wear a mask where necessary and feel glad that people think masks provide safety.

6:53 pm

The masks do help prevent transmission. COVID is transmitted both by larger and smaller droplets from the mouth and nose produced when breathing, sneezing, coughing, etc., and the masks catch about 80% of that, as well as helping to limit the amount that you breathe in a bit.

6:54 pm

they don't protect you from catching it, they protect other people from contracting it from you.

mael, more recent studies found that it actually does provide 2-way protection.

7:00 pm

Again, whatever you read on the internet that makes you feel safe.

7:00 pm

This is what the World Health Organization is saying.

Straight from my doctor's mouth, Molly.

7:01 pm

Good, I'm glad what your doctor told you makes you feel safe.

7:02 pm

Perception is everything!

7:03 pm

if you are wearing a mask and no one else is the protection is minimal. Better than nothing, but the real value is in protecting the collective. If everyone wears one masks are very effective. :)

7:03 pm

It is mainly to protect others from an infection that you may have, but COVID-19 can be transmitted by people who have no symptoms and are unaware that they have it.

7:03 pm

Yep, everyone needs to believe what they want to believe.

7:05 pm

And although COVID-19 isn't as infectious as measles, various case studies have found that it can be transmitted to other people in the same room even when they never come very close to the person who is infected.

7:06 pm

In particular, there was a case in China of a man in a restaurant who managed to infect people at at least 3 different tables, despite staying at his own.

7:06 pm

Would someone please give me stats for the 8?

7:07 pm

sa8/45

7:07 pm

Thank you

* puts on foil hat* hello babblers!

7:09 pm

Maybe it's just to make a funny.

7:10 pm

or maybe to escape endless covid talk....no offense, gillie.... ;o)

7:10 pm

Hear hear!

not, just to keep out bad vibes and negativity.

7:11 pm

Sorry - it's just annoying that people can't be bothered to do something that might help, just because it's somewhat inconvenient and uncomfortable. But I'll shut up now.

and errant clues ;)

7:12 pm

oh i agree with you, Gillie....but many of us come here to relax....

7:17 pm

I agree Pen. The endless COVID preaching is getting tiresome.

Don't do Facebook....

7:51 pm

i am heading out....my knitting awaits....goodnight all.....

7:51 pm

here, too. you all know that hockey is a big thing up here, especially for the kids. neighborhoods build rinks so the kids can skate - it's a lot of hard work to get the ice right....

today, you'd be much better off

night pen

7:52 pm

so a bunch of folks built one in my neighborhood, supposed to be ready this weekend. they went to check the ice and someone had taken an axe to it - damaged a big portion....

i have to get back on now to wish someone happy birthday. forgot earlier.

sadly, that does not shock.

once upon a time, it would. the internet, with figurative axe wielding, has changed all that.

7:53 pm

so a few guys got together and repaired the damage, stayed up until 2am fixing the rink - only to come back this morning to find that someone had destroyed it again. i mean for goodness' sakes, it's for the kids! people complain that the kids, when they have nothing to do, cause trouble - so why destroy what would keep them busy for a whole winter?

see below. how many times have you seen people flame other people, even here?

it's the downhill side of the slippery slope. however, there wil always be the good guys, like those who fix things.

it's very hard to understand, i think i have a link in my profile.

i made the first cookies today. i still need to ice them.

must chat and run - later, all
