12:24 am

I tried to get away from it Mub, but hubby had TV on all day -- you are right, verry tiring

12:34 am

don't remember any chemistry -- was one of those things I remembered just long enough to get through the exam!

12:43 am

3:02 am

well, I'm three hours late for the flip, I've been glued to the TV

My heart is broken

Whatever happens in the next few days, American democracy is damaged for a generation at least. Trump incited a coup attempt. Thankfully, he doesn't seem to have the military behind him but that is what he's trying to do.

4:43 am

as an american i am ashamed. furious. disgusted with the fact that our potus set this into action. he may only have 2 weeks left but its time to removed him now.. save what dignity we have left. as far the rioters, shame on them . is this what he taught them... hang your heads . give it up the pos lost the election

4:44 am

and shame on those in power who let him continue when the man is obviously not right in the head. !

4:53 am

it's all totally appalling. horrifying. but we all saw it coming, even if we couldn't/didn't want to believe. I miss my country.

4:59 am

America has always been a country that turns around the worst of situations. We still are. There is a lot of good in this country and good will rise and things will be better.

5:09 am

The terrible thing about the situation is that I don't think anybody in the democratic world wil be surprised by what's happened. It's been obvious it wasn't going to end well. I hope that as a nation you can find a way forward and come out of this much more united.

5:11 am

I wish people would find a way to protest their cause without violence and destruction.

These people weren't protesting. They were rioting

They weren't rioting, they were attempting a coup

5:13 am

World peace. A deep subject for a Thursday morning

5:14 am

Anyway back to the real task of those pesky z's!

5:24 am

5:35 am

Sadly, our hero Zorro is not one of them

5:40 am

Got them all but wouldn't have without the list and morewords

I only have two Zs. I'm also missing the second N (first row, second column) and the O in the upper right corner....anyone have stats for the N and the O, please?

Yep

ni 5/10

I should have said first column, second row. Oops :)

Ah hah - thank you!

yw

it's funny, the z are actually not that hard (though I had to get help). we've had all of them before. Just too many vowels I think makes it confusing!

8:39 am

My mother in law met John Irving on a cross country flight. And by the way, he was one of her favorite authors. When he introduced himself as John Irving she said "You asshole, you are not." Later, she realized she was the asshole. : D

Sorry to see what happened yesterday. I think the majority of American people are decent and do not act like thugs. I know people here do not like political talk so that is all I shall say on that subject as I feel what happened aws not poiltics but just plain thuggery.

8:59 am

sadly zooz there is a large % of the population that supports him despite all the information about his doings. The far right, the nazi types were mostly the trouble makers. It was unbelievable to see on TV yesterday. I'm sad for America

8:59 am

lol - i keep repeating god's words: he who is without sin, cast the first stone. :)

This is not talking politics, it is talking history.

9:00 am

what do you mean elijay?

9:01 am

those who are na-ha - all wrong. who are they to judge likewise those who say

9:02 am

Whether you support him or not that is not the way people should act and I just feel that the majority of American people law abiding citizens.

9:02 am

I don't understand your point.

9:02 am

those who say 'good stuff' ... who are to judge. I know i have a Personal option. period.

9:03 am

notice the "yes" and I in statements ...that is all

9:03 am

typo: yes = you. lol

9:06 am

I"m sorry, I must not be sharp enough today to understand what you're saying. Never mind.

9:09 am

lol - i guess i am saying something along Keep Your PERSONAL thought/ideas to yourself during turbulant times. I like you folk. finish maybe 2 puzzels a year and do not want to ruin in

9:10 am

I think a civil discussion here is fine.. .but when name calling happens that crosses the line

9:10 am

If you want to cite the Bible, I think a better passage for this time is Matthew 7:16-20. "You shall know them by their fruits" - and yesterday was lots of rotten fruit.

9:11 am

It would of been easier for you just to of said that. Although by making those statements you are not keeping your PERSONAL thoughts/ideas to yourself either so a bit hypocritical really. Elijay.

9:11 am

okay, i'm out for awhile and will not bring up the thousands and thousands from the last few month.

9:12 am

Sorry folks - I don't usually do that - but I'm tired of being told (in defense of these actions) that we don't get to judge.

9:13 am

the rioters judged

9:13 am

it's fine. .we as a nation need to talk about this stuff in my opinion.. there is too far a divide in the country. The events yesterday were shocking.

9:13 am

May I stats for the second row N and the third row i pls

9:14 am

at last a voice of sanity! vWish I could help!

9:15 am

I ends like russian ruler, N = japanese emigrant

9:16 am

Japanese decent.

9:16 am

sorry, you only asked for stats...

9:16 am

ty zooz...kept thinking that needed double cons

9:16 am

oops sorry, yes I gave a clue too. Apologies.

9:16 am

np mont

There's a great show called "Rising" that's a dem and a rep talking together - that's their point, that we need to talk to each other instead of fight

Also, theres a new party getting started that hopes to bypass all of this, go check them out peoplesparty.org

9:18 am

where does one watch that, rasta?

Rising is actually on YouTube. Search "the Hill" then click on the channel button, the click on the first Rising segment and it'll play the show in order. (Since it's youtube it's loaded in smaller pieces)

9:20 am

With adverts too I bet lol

9:20 am

I read the chat to find out what you are thinking, all of you, and who you ARE. Nobody has banned personal or o po;itical, it seems an accepted view here and I am glad when it is broken. I like hearing Ru's thoughts, and Scrabs, and watch the weather in Scrab's area to see if she is happy with it, and I watch zoom's parents, etc. Right now I am rejoicing that Ossof scraped by, and that "we" now control the senate, and can --I pray--get something done--abt so many things. I am glad Rasta saw Ru, too. Wish I could.

Can't wait to see what they say this morning, the days' show is usually loaded up by 830 pacific time, so an hour or so, they're in DC

Hi RB good to see you

9:22 am

((RoundBarn)) ❤

9:22 am

I'm pretty excited Loefller failed at reelection

9:22 am

Hi Rasta, me love. This year's Liberty is coming from the printer this a.m.

Adverts - whenI watch on my computer there's none. When I put it up on the smart tv there are som, but keep the clicker in my hand and mute, and it generally lets you click through them after a few seconds

Yes, Georgia's news is getting overshadowed, but that was pretty amazing

9:24 am

Ditto re Loeffler!!!

9:26 am

i watched her debate performance twice.. another zombie of the far right.. it was scary to watch

9:26 am

just one more corner N to Nail the Ns... what can it beeeeeee

9:27 am

belief in cybernan hurshy

9:27 am

lol ok thanks

9:28 am

You mean, cybernan has a doctrine!

9:28 am

yes.. and a podium and soap box :D

9:28 am

A big, well used soap box.

9:29 am

ha.. i knew that would bring you out

9:32 am

iz4/9 and is8/45 are from the third row i

9:33 am

rasta, the word "sneap"is here today--sorry, folks--but the only person I ever heard use that word was my grandmother, born in England in 1860. I always spelled it with two e's, in my head.

9:33 am

and what does it mean?

9:33 am

Thank you Zoom for your positive comment about most Americans. It has been said that one should not judge the many by the actions of a few.

9:35 am

It's a slight insult. She'd come back from church circle saying Mrs so and so was certainly "sneaped" tgoday--meaning, suffered a mild come-uppance.

9:36 am

Google says it is not quite a snooze but not really a sleep : D

9:37 am

thanks for asking, Hurshy. (I watch you, too.) jj

9:37 am

you sound like a peeping tom RB :D

9:40 am

I was just thinking the same thing Ru. ♪♫I'll be watching you♪♫

9:41 am

i suppose that means i'm entertaining

9:41 am

oh you can be hursh :D

9:42 am

I am. that's why my books are so good Ru, and many open the Il Times to see what I have to say. I puiblished Trifioso's terrific play--she said ok. And I use Scrab's medical advice.

9:42 am

am i gonna need some help with this is8?

9:43 am

i feel like the third letter is obvious but then idk

9:43 am

60 to go! hello all

9:43 am

scuba divers material for the suit

9:44 am

ah ty for the 8 ru. nbs!

9:44 am

that was for hurshy

9:44 am

mollt, Google is unaware that sneap has nothing to do with sleep--not the way my grandma used it!

9:44 am

thanks

9:44 am

and harry :D

9:44 am

is there a difference between is8 and ne8?

9:44 am

must be

9:44 am

I kind of agree with RB"s definition it sounds better

9:44 am

I thought the material was ne8

9:45 am

Harry Hood is a teacher. I watcvh him.

9:45 am

what if I shut off my camera? like my students do?

9:45 am

is8 is the chemicals to make the ne8

9:45 am

Harry is right

9:45 am

ah - got it ru.

9:46 am

are the chemicals

9:46 am

You better close your blinds too Harry

9:46 am

no - is was correct. just take the s off of chemicals.

9:46 am

chem- chem- chemicals

9:46 am

does RB have eyes on my windows?

9:47 am

:D harry

9:47 am

Os Obliterated!!

9:47 am

Apparently she is watching many of you. Don't know if binoculars are involved.

9:47 am

there is very little going on in this house which would be of interest to prurient eyes.

9:48 am

Lots and lots of video gaming.

9:48 am

much of the time, the way my laptop is angled, you'd mostly see the ceiling if you were spying on me via the laptop cam

9:49 am

hours of blank ceiling footage

9:49 am

i ain't no michelangelo

9:49 am

I've just got a new computer and the camera slides away inside the monitor when it's not in use. You have to pull it out if you want to use it.

9:50 am

yeah.. you'd have to like Montepulciano wine and young boys hurshy

9:51 am

Es Exterminated!!

9:51 am

oh well.. back to hurshy's ceiling

9:51 am

so A is the only recalcitrant vowel

9:51 am

I watch all of you but not all day every day. As Rasta knows, there is more to my life. I am still archiving for U of Wis and now my own university that I helped found (in Sspringfield) wants all my early material on the school. With you guys I don't need binocs. By the way Zoom I lived in England, for awhile, first child born there, and have gone back regularly.

9:52 am

you helped FOUND a university??

9:53 am

which springfield?

9:53 am

Illinois Phaeton

9:53 am

Bart Simpson Memorial College?

9:53 am

ty

9:53 am

or Land'o'Lincoln University?

Bart Simpson’s!

9:54 am

well i was thinking springfield WI if she is in WI

Wow, harry beat me

9:54 am

you gotta wake up pretty early....

9:55 am

I always have such trouble with the P tile.

9:55 am

Springfield Illinois--Lincoln country--yes, we started Sangamon State u in 1970 and I was on the founding faculty. Taught there 35 years. Many of my stories need to go on a disk to be opened 50 years from now.

Haven’t made it to the P yet

9:55 am

that is so fancy

9:56 am

very cool roundbarn

Come on enable, I re6 all the time when I’m sewing

9:57 am

where did the name Sangamon come from

Rip it out, put it back

It's the county that it's in

9:57 am

you resew - i don 't think the more specific word is needed or sensible, since you don't usually re- nouns

9:58 am

another Illinois city is in the grid: Peoria!

And the river running nearby

9:58 am

SSU got changed to U of Illinois Springfield Campus in 1995 when the Republicans took over. SIU should have got us, their med school is here.

9:58 am

Sangamon is much cooler.

Peoria is not far away. But they have their own University lol

A river runs through it?

9:59 am

Some bonehead congressman wanted to rename Rutgers to U of NJ. He was roundly criticized.

10:00 am

well apparently it was originally called Queen's College, so it's not like Rutgers isn't a usurper name in the first place

10:00 am

lol

10:01 am

hah. I think it's been rutgers now for about 200 years, so that's awhile. Like Columbia was originally Kings.

10:02 am

if it was queens and then Rutgers maybe they could compromise and call it RuPaul University?

10:02 am

now that would be something.

10:02 am

Rasta means we have the Sangsmon River. But the name is also near our property in Vermont, I forget the connection, but think it is Lincoln. We have lotsa Lincoln statuary here, of course. I say hello to the depictions I like and thumb my nose at those I don't. (the schmaltzy ones)

10:02 am

sounds perfect, lol

10:02 am

for sure the talent shows would be amazing

10:03 am

don't you just love it when a babblet just pops up out of the recesses of your memory

10:06 am

50

10:07 am

Ws Whacked!

Rising's started, off to watch politics, see you all tomorrow

10:09 am

Lot of nose thumbing going on around here

10:11 am

Oh, we have the proper noun again that sounds to some people like Laurel

10:11 am

good morning everyone

10:12 am

the... proper noun... that... sounds ... like... Laurel........

10:13 am

morning

10:14 am

hi nan

10:14 am

idk why but i have the song "She Caught the Katy" stuck in my head

10:14 am

it's not too bad, for an earworm

10:15 am

could be much worse

10:15 am

hi saanich - any wind damage in your area?

10:15 am

yes - it could be "over there"

10:15 am

I had that one for about 3 weeks.

10:16 am

three weeks! yikes

10:16 am

it was a rough time.

10:16 am

I have Rise Up from Hamilton stuck in my head

10:16 am

came from watching that "yankee doodle dandy" movie

10:16 am

my niece is a big fan of hamilton

10:17 am

And yes, I know part of that is in the grid, that’s why it popped in my head

10:17 am

Mrs. Gorbachev in the grid too

10:18 am

Oh, the Laurel thing is a test to see who keeps up with internet things

10:18 am

i knew a gal with that name, but with a double S, and when i said, oh, like mrs. gorbachev, she was like, YES! nobody seems to know that! (she was german, herself)

10:19 am

Hurshy has been watching The Blues Brothers

10:19 am

except i haven't

10:19 am

that's what is so odd, i sometimes get songs in my head and i have no idea why they started

10:20 am

one time i asked in chat and people helped me figure it out, that the song had been in the latest episode of House :D

10:20 am

That can happen to me just because of one word.

10:21 am

Me too. See a few posts ago.

10:22 am

Like someone mentions the name Katie and it's either going to be She Caught The Katy or K-K-K Katie, depending on what kind of mood I'm in

10:22 am

But it will NEVER be Katy Perry

10:23 am

no alt spellings allowed for posy or pansy

10:24 am

Screeching halt here on 3rd row

10:24 am

But nite and wite are A-okay. Weird ass Enable

10:24 am

there was an is 8 called last night that I still can't find -- something to do with chemistry

10:24 am

well maybe they mean other things?

10:24 am

penema: what you take to clear writer's block.

10:25 am

start like you'd think, then add a homophone for what peacocks do

10:25 am

Well done Harry

10:26 am

ty hurshy

10:27 am

40 to go. slow slow progress

10:27 am

ooh i found a sweet so6

10:27 am

Or should I have channeled Mrs. Klump (the fan of colon cleansing) and said "Fabulous darling, fabulous"

10:27 am

gotta go food shopping. bbl!

10:28 am

Oh, I see a polarizing Harry Potter character

10:30 am

And where are these s’s?

10:30 am

it's the Ms that are troubling me

10:31 am

Haven’t made it there yet

10:32 am

and one A missing from each of the four A tiles, lol

10:32 am

I finished the top one!

10:33 am

My last one was a past tense

10:33 am

i have that tho

10:34 am

both pastses

10:34 am

How about katniss’s thing

10:34 am

that she would shoot? have

10:35 am

Licorice and shorter?

10:35 am

got e'm

10:35 am

elsa’s sister?

10:36 am

have

10:36 am

aHA it's an ai4 babblet

10:37 am

Aha

10:37 am

woot, finished the A below it too now

10:38 am

I only have one there

10:38 am

all 4s

10:39 am

Got em

10:41 am

10:41 am

Aesop

10:41 am

Aesop

10:42 am

ding ding ding!!!

10:42 am

i have wo7, can anyone tell me what the other 7 starts with?

10:42 am

Aesop

10:42 am

am

10:42 am

Aesop

10:42 am

10:43 am

ty dorens and bzz

10:43 am

10:43 am

10:44 am

Tie goes to the more talented. Bea can have the dings

10:44 am

LOL, I’m in the car and the cell signal is sketchy. I’m sure I said aesop first. ;P

10:44 am

Ys are ye4, yi4, and....

10:44 am

I at least said it twice

10:44 am

my dings are like the loaves and fishes - they multiply to make plenty for everyone that wants 'em

10:44 am

ya6

10:44 am

Boy, Carla really, really wants to be "first" at everything

10:45 am

thank you again bzznbea

10:45 am

Hurshy, if you are going to divinely make more of something, try the wine trick

10:45 am

but i don't gots any wine. i gots dings.

10:46 am

and tea

10:49 am

phantom: sneeze

10:49 am

Could someone tell me what the 8 starts with, P&TY

10:49 am

is8

10:49 am

did you miss the multiple convos about it in the last few hours?

10:50 am

Seems familiar now that you mention it, but I wasn’t really paying attention

10:50 am

If one player was asking for the clue for that it was probably practically spelled out.

10:50 am

start like you would think to start and then put a homophone for what a peacock does

10:52 am

I’m not sure how I would think to start, what does that even mean? And a peacock struts, what else do they do? I must be the slow one today.

10:52 am

Today? Some might ask

10:52 am

What do birds do to their feathers.

10:52 am

well i mean if you know it's an is, and you look at the grid, it's like, ok, the third letter is probably...

10:52 am

and it starts like alcohol

10:53 am

or you can think of wetsuit fabric

10:53 am

since is8 is apparently the chemical of which ne8 (not in grid) is made

10:54 am

Thank you, wetsuit fabric did it

10:54 am

And alchohol

10:54 am

My favorite word today is na6.21

10:54 am

So nothing from the original clue ;P

10:54 am

my poor peacock

10:54 am

all that showing off for nothing

10:54 am

Quotes made my one of our Canadian players.

10:55 am

name that proper noun! legendary California hero

10:55 am

zorro

10:55 am

ding ding ding!!!

10:56 am

11:33 am

That will gice you an I from there

11:39 am

11:44 am

11:52 am

I need 8 words to be half way. Not seeing any. But if you have any z words other than the number for none, and plural, would love some gentle clues. Ty.

11:54 am

11:55 am

Got the other 7 if anyone needs clues.

11:59 am

12:00 pm

12:14 pm

Cannot find the 8, can you clue it (other than stats)

12:24 pm

Do a Google search on what diving suits are made of and make it an is word

12:30 pm

morning all

12:31 pm

No google search but great clue Molly ty

12:42 pm

Sea, nice quilt in your profile picture. I'm so impressed with you folks who quilt.

12:56 pm

rehi, made it home

12:58 pm

nice

12:58 pm

that is a very lovely quilt

12:58 pm

53 left still

1:00 pm

Thank you Molly. That is the most difficult one I’ve done. The reward was well worth it. I have a friend I sew with. We have a great time.

can't get any of my friends into it

1:02 pm

Thank you too Carla. The pattern is called Gettysburg. GBurg is near and dear to me. i only live 30 minutes from there.

1:15 pm

I have a copy of an old newspaper clipping with an article about my great-great-great grandfather being wounded at Gettysburg. He was the local postmaster in his town, so they did a feature story with photos.

1:26 pm

16 left

1:27 pm

craZy z word

my great-great grandfather lost a leg at Gettysburg. and I think his brother died there. My dad remembered playing with a wooden leg in the attic of his mother's old homeplace.

still 53. LOL, but I have been doing other stuff.

1:29 pm

I've driven through Gettysburg ;)

1:29 pm

Gettysburg is an amazing place. The movie is pretty amazing too, if you have not seen it.

1:29 pm

15 now

I have neither seen the movie nor driven through it .

I've been to Hershey.

53 now

1:30 pm

Moolingwa never fails to tell us that he has been just about everywhere.

1:30 pm

yeah, been to Hershey too...worked a year in Harrisburg, would sometimes go back by way of Hershey

he's certainly been to more of this country than I have

LMK if you've been anywhere near Tri-Cities, TN

1:32 pm

No, have not been to Tri-Cities....only places I've been in TN are Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville

depending on which way you went to Knoxville you could've driven through

1:34 pm

I came down through Kentucky...then out East towards Ashville

1:36 pm

Came down I75

probably not then. I-81 goes through and then splits off at 40 through Knoxville, and then I-26 down from tri-cities to Asheville. ok, no.

so probably 40 all the way to asheville

1:37 pm

yeah

1:38 pm

Yes Molly Gettysburg is an amazing place. I love going there. We also camp there and there is a great fabric store there. Lots of repro civil war fabrics which I am drawn too.

camping and fabric? will have to add to our list when we start traveling the country as empty nesters.

then I still won't have been to as many places as moo. :P

1:40 pm

Carla my friend and I go to GBurg to camp and take our sewing machines. The men don’t go on those trips. Lol

1:40 pm

Mesa

this is why I need a tiny camper for myself. we have a 40' class A and I just don't feel comfortable taking it on my own somewhere.

1:41 pm

Sorry. Looks like my chat time is over.

i already had that word!

1:42 pm

Good! Lol

still need 17 4s though

1:44 pm

Carla needs to find a girl camping partner.

who also sews

and lives near enough to at least meet somewhere. gettysburg is a little far.

I think a lot of my 4's were hiding in the Ps. must not have looked hard at that one earlier.

I cross stitch does that count?

sure!

1:51 pm

Would it really have to involve sewing if you found a female friend who enjoys RV camping?

we have a group that we camp with - 4 other couples. so I already have 4 female friends that enjoy it.

1:59 pm

2nd column i stats pls?

1:59 pm

hello again all

I only have the is8, mlfan

2:00 pm

clue pls?

2:02 pm

iz4

it's been pretty heavily clued and discussed with variations, may want to read the chat archive to see which one works best for you.

thanks, champ

2:07 pm

It is always a good idea to read over previous chat if you are a person who asks for a lot of clues. There are always plenty in former chat.

made it to 35 left. still not going to catch moo, no matter how many phone calls he's on.

2:22 pm

Still five states I haven't been to :) HI, AK, ND, NE and KS...and two of those border my current home state

I have been to NE out of those 5

2:24 pm

Oh sorry, I have been to NE..OK is the one I haven't been to

we went all around KS when we went cross country and back. it was kinda funny.

I would have to see a map.

doing an interactive map right now. not sure which ones we missed when we went to ME. there's a lot of small ones up there.

2:27 pm

Austin, Columbus (been in airport there), Indianapolis (drove around it), Oklahoma City and Lousiville are the largest US cities I haven't been to

2:28 pm

Yeah, only been to ME and NH once...same for WV, NE, MS and AK...all the others have been to multiple times

2:28 pm

Have lived in 6 states

2:29 pm

Oh sorry, have been to SD and IA once also

have only lived in 2

2:30 pm

have lived in two states (CA and NY) twice

one of my favorite campgrounds on our cross country trip was in OK panhandle - it was a drive-in movie campground

2:31 pm

oh, sounds fun

2:31 pm

did you go to carhenge too?

2:31 pm

oh, looks like that's in NE

2:31 pm

always thought it was in OK

ok, looks like 13 I have not been to

saw a lot of flatness and corn in NE

2:33 pm

I've driven across the country three times, so that helps

2:34 pm

yeah, not a lot of geographical formations in the Cornhusker state

https://tinyurl.com/y6nrtara

2:36 pm

Must've worked hard to avoid Delaware :)

forgot I had a layover in Minn. before. does that count?

2:36 pm

I guess :)

2:36 pm

I've been to Duluth, and through the bottom tier of Minnesota

well, when we went to ME, we went up I-81 to PA. I don't think that goes through DE.

2:37 pm

no

2:38 pm

you'd have to really go over the chesepeake bay bridge tunnel to go through delaware

2:38 pm

correct. 81 is NC, VA, WV, MD, PA, NY

2:38 pm

95 cuts through it a bit

2:38 pm

but then you'd be heading past Philly and up through NJ

2:39 pm

Amazon delivered a package to a house not mine that i don't recognize.

2:39 pm

though it's in the neighborhood, even same model of house.

2:39 pm

I and a neighbor diagonally from me got each other's packages the other day

2:40 pm

i'm hoping it's close and someone drops it by. I'd really like my gluten.

2:44 pm

Carla, being gluten free, be sure to stay away from Seain. : D

he's always baking delicious things so I know to stay away. :D

are you going by the picture they do now, seain? maybe it is actually your house but someone stole the package.

2:52 pm

yes, but, wrong door, wrong color house.

2:52 pm

and the other two packages got here

2:53 pm

Oh Good Lord above. What in heaven's name is happening in the US? Can this madman not be stopped? I am so very sorry to see the demise of democracy in America. All down to one lunatic.

2:53 pm

bless you soodle. we do wonder even here.

we hope he can be.

2:55 pm

Well, Congress did confirm Biden as President Elect, at least, and I hear they're putting up reinforcements around the Capitol.

2:56 pm

Apparently Trump had been hoping that Pence could be persuaded to declare him President Elect, even though that isn't Pence's role.

2:57 pm

Most right-minded people across the globe can see the havoc he is wreaking. Most right-minded people wish the United States well.

2:57 pm

No worries. Democracy is alive and well in these United States.

2:59 pm

In fairness Molly - democracy looked under serious threat in the Capitol Building yesterday.

at least some of the prior trump defenders are saying he just ain't right now

2:59 pm

Indeed but the threat was averted.

3:00 pm

With only 4 deaths.

3:00 pm

true that some are. we still have about 1/3 of the populace who are true believers in Trump, alas.

not sure how they didn't see that coming

3:00 pm

def'n of po6/24 says essentially "it's something, but we're not sure exactly what"

3:00 pm

That is what I have been wondering about Carla. This thing was known about for some time.

seain I was referring to the politicians. they are probably trying to save themselves. the regular people defenders are still all in I think.

3:01 pm

ah, yes, agreed on both, carla

yeah, they had people arriving by the busloads

3:03 pm

It seems like the Capitol police weren't too well prepared either.

surely they didn't think all Trump supporters are well-behaved

3:03 pm

Bus loads of people angry about the election results. Hmmm, does that require heightened security? Yes indeed.

when he's been saying for months the election was stolen and not legit

3:04 pm

Agreed that the Capitol Police seemed less prepared than necessary.

3:04 pm

the mayor of DC indicated that the DC police would take the lead on this, not the capitol police. she screwed up

3:04 pm

there was a whole thing on npr about it this AM

3:04 pm

With that many people coming to protest, the National Guard should have been on stand by.

3:05 pm

the mayor didn't want them, after the BLM protests this past summer. she wanted everything low-key.

harry, about this po6...

3:05 pm

In my opinion, the mayor of DC has been less than effective.

3:06 pm

doesn't the president control the National Guard?

3:06 pm

carla - belief in the little holes in your skin

gracias

3:06 pm

I think we can assume the president will not deploy the national guard against his own supporters.

3:07 pm

the mayor just asked for them for traffic control and metro patrol

definitely seems that's how it played out since they said Pence deployed them

3:07 pm

at least as per npr.

3:07 pm

The mayor could have called in the National Guard, and she did, eventually.

33 left! LOL. I should probably give up.

3:10 pm

Apparently it was the Secretary of Defense who called them out running past Pence though he didn't have to

hmm, revisiting my US map. I maybe have not been to MT.

3:14 pm

I am very aware of my non-American status. I speak/type as a European observer. Yesterdays events were truly shocking. News reports this side of the world blame Trump & his rallying call to his supporters for the attempted coup.

3:15 pm

Likewise the majority of news here.

3:16 pm

and down here - it bumped COVID news off all day

yep. though I made the mistake of watching Fox News earlier and some woman started talking about Trump instigating it and the interviewer started yelling at her that he didn't hear anything like that in Trump's message.

3:16 pm

Fox and ONA never fail to appall and dissapoint.

3:17 pm

ehhh Fox, right, apologies for Rupert - his mother would be rolling in her grave

3:19 pm

one of our ex Prime Minister is trying to constrict his influence here via parliament

3:20 pm

Ha Lynn. That might be a result! I'm bloody sick &tired of Covid news - it just gets worser & worser.

3:23 pm

I know - you guys have got it SO bad - we are panicing now because it is started to get through from returning Australians from the UK (who are still in hotel quarantine (though our numbers are ridiculously low compared to yours)

3:31 pm

onor

well I'm stuck again at 28 left

3:38 pm

35 here.....

3:39 pm

i have 79 left

and I am down to 12% battery so I'm going to have to get off the couch. :D

4:16 pm

Stay tuned for Carla's next exciting battery update!

had to get up, so the computer is now plugged in!

and list has been called up
