Oh get out the fish, Matty is going to go a whacking
So the whole groundhog thing is a big hoax. The groundhog doesn't actually see or not see his shadow. He speaks "groundhogese" to some dude in a top hat who then knows which scroll to pick (shadow or no shadow). They must be smoking some choice weed in Gobbler's Knob.
Back - I shall get ready to whack with fish (not with groundhogs)
I am whackin' my butt hard with that pike!
why can I only find 2/15 A's on the top? are they that atrocious? or am I just that amateurish?

what's today? I think Sat. night we had a tiny bit of sleet. the oldest was trying to tell me it hailed and then turned to sleet because he saw little balls of ice, and I told him that was also sleet.
but all rain the rest of the time
my mom had some snow in VA.

I'm going to sit out at a soccer game in about an hour. taking my parka & a heavy duty blanket.
sounds like a good plan.
here, next week is looking much, much colder.
probably here too then. great.
hopefully not. Usually there is a chunk warmer.
ooh, 54 here on Fri but more rain
low - mid 40s next week
49 and rain expected here on Friday.
anyone have more than 3 TH?
we have expected highs below freezing starting monday.
brrr
I'm ready to move to FL
our electric bill this month was $200 more than last month and last year that month.
we have gas heat so pretty low electric bill in the winter. summer though is ridiculous.
this house is all electric, so usually pretty even year-round.
i really want hot water baseboards or radiators again. Hopefully i can have that when i move back to the Eastern part of the region, where gas is more common.
ooh, 5th col gray!
i only have three TH words also.
my missing T was a word that looks like a pl but no singular
have had it recently and it was new to me then.
scottish of course
ah, i have that one.
i'm doing laundry while babbling today.
and who says guys can't multi-task ;)
LOL
HOKIE i see you are ready to move to florida. the high for today is 54 and the low tonite will be 36. all the cold and yucky stuff you have up there is usually sent down here. maybe not as cold but to us it is freezing.
I have in-laws in Jax area and we laugh when they say 50s is cold.
my buddy lives in southern ohio and went to florida for his annual trip. he went a week later so it would be in the 70's this year. its 55. i didnt go because of not wanting to catch covid, but he's loving it
we went to Amelia Island over MLK weekend and it was 50s a couple of days we were there. still seemed nicer than here.
i cant wait for a couple of days becasue it will rain and clear the roads long enough for me to ride my moto. then snow the next day lol
but isn't it cold riding?
they are correct. I lived in Michigan my whole life until 1984 when i moved down here. When you live in colder climates, the corpuscles in your body are deeper under the skin but when you move to a warm climate those same corpuscles rise to the surface just under your skin so you feel temp changes more readily and cold is felt at a higher temp than when you are up north. When i first went in a pool down here the first year, I swam in an unheated pool the whole year but myu fir
my friends said, that will change and by the second year i no longer swam in the pool in the winter months.
i layer and have cold weather gear. i can ride 4-6 hours at a time down to 34. after that its 30-40 minutes max.
I have seen it with myself. when I was at virginia tech, low 50s meant shorts, sometimes we'd lay out in the sun in swimsuits. now 50s is long pants and long sleeves.
I took multiple trips here before I actually moved and yes for short times it felt great to be out in the sun in the 50s but when you live here for any length of time that changes. If you still want to move here hokie, welcome to Florida.
what are are you in?
i used to work outside in FL. took a while but i got used to 100 degress 100% humidity at 9am. construction.
*area
People from up North have laughed at me when i told them about 100% humidity with no rain.
summer here i was cold.
yeah, I don't know about that, Atl
haha humidity is nuts in the south
will probably be stuck in NC until the youngest graduates from college, depending on where he ends up
yeah, I always tell people it's like walking out into a soup
im in blacksburg until i graduate
yeah, glasses steam when you go outside. And i have to clear my lungs and fill them with the humid air to breathe easily when i go out.
wut? you are a Hokie?
I left Michigan for the very reason of the cold weather, snow, ice, not a winter sports person so I am happy to not be in snow anymore. I live in Melbourne/Palm Bay area on the space coast where all the rockets used to be launched. I saw John Glenn go up on his second mission while standing on the beach. It was awesome. I see all the launches from my back porch.
then im going to either southern california or back to florida
how lovely, Nancy.
that's cool, nancy
not exactly. i came for school but decided to wait because of covid
michigan is nice! i liked it there in the winter when i sent
went
I want to try that campground right there at the space center but can't think of the name of it
you can do a lot worse than Blacksburg for weather.
indeed
Blacksburg can be incredibly cold in the winter when you're walking across the drillfield to an 8am class.
i should do something about dinner soon. Maybe gnocchi in a tomato pesto "meat' sauce.
it's possible I skipped a few of those
wv remote mountain tops in the dead of winter
yeah, no thanks ;)
lol carla
One of my sons still lives in MIchigan and has a lake house that is like a hotel. It is fabulous in Michigan in the summer and the whole family likes to travel to spend time in the summer months. However, because of Covid, I could not go last summer.
im going to put on a roast. ya'll have a good day!!
hopefully someday we'll all get to visit with family again
be well, AtlKru
i see my sister sometimes.
bye! you too.
hokie, are you thinking of Jetty Park Campgrounds?

good afternoon everyone -- late start for me today

The 8/45 is a PITA unless you're into flowers.
both are latinate
I'm lost
singular ends in three vowels
starts like a curving shape.
I've tried the flower, but it doesn't work
three vowels at the end bichon
The singular ends in base times height minus the R

Giving up the grid. Not going to finish.Time to do a story.
yw carla
still need 5 + 4 S's. these are hard!
Just posted story of clues in my profile. I will be here off and on to clue for the rest of the night as well, if needed
Molly, I was puzzled by your icon, so I decided to do an image search. Google wasn't as helpful as it sometimes is, but I gather it's a neo-paganist image.
The triskelion has been used in a lot of different ways, of course, but I found that image on a pillow with the description "Waking Earth Imbolc Serpent Pagan Sabbat Throw Pillow".
And now I've looked up Imbolc, and I've discovered that is celebrated by Irish Christians yesterday and/or today as the feast day of St. Brigid, although it is thought to have been originally a pagan festival honoring the goddess Brigid.
It's certainly a lively image, anyway.
Yes, it was coopted by Rome when they arrived there.
Rome was nothing if not big on co-opting
very true, hurshy

Congratulations dcseain on your fireworks display!Hooray
