btw, had my first covid shot today. so far nothing nasty. xx
Long may it stay that way, rose.
Hi Rose. Which vaccine did you have?

Happy babbling everyone. Bye
anike had the astra zenika.
WTG ANIKE!!
I am on the list at my GP to have my shot and I assume it will be the same.
yes anike. all over 50's are receiving the astra-zeneca. it's very strange how it is affecting younger people particularly females. but on thinking about it, i realised most females under 50 will still be taking some form of birth control i.e. the pill which does have as a major side effect of blood clots.
I'm getting my second shot of Moderna on Weds and I'm a little nervous since a lot of people get sick after the second Moderna shot.
ttfn everyone. enjoy the grid. see you at the next flip. xx

Sorry
Goodness it's quiet here today. Hi everyone!
hi, matty!
Carla was lurking? *Faints*
just trying to get through first pass
As long as it's not The Donner Pass
no thanks
Mmmm...frozen meat ;)
This is why I like Matty, the sick sense of humor. : D
You know me so well.
Brought to you by the makers of Soilent Green.
who wants to guess what kenny rogers song is going through my mind right now?
Good morning, you crazy kids.
hey judi
A Boy Named Sue? ;)
nope, that's johnny cash
(Yes, I know wrong artist. I needed a bit of Cash) ;)
that was johnny cash
You Picked a Fine Time to Leave me Lucille.
this one is in the grid, which is why I'm singing it. plus you'll be sent to the PB if you answer
well now that one is in my head, thanks judi
Or, as the Donner Party said when their wagon broke down, 'you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel'
LOL, I've heard something similar, but how fitting today, matty
Stuck with 57 left.
Good one Matty
Oh, it's the not gentleman song
ding ding ding, molly wins all the dings
I believe that makes Molly a ding-a-ling.
And why not The Commodores?
well now it is
and there was one by styx or someone
stats for the y please?
Although Brick House is their better song
ya 4/7
thx
Not one of Styx better songs
agreed
I've had The Champs song running through my head all morning.
I have been seeing PeeWee Herman dance to that song all morning
hmm, champs song
aha
And dear Lord Bea, at least add sunrise and go for a better earworm
is that eagles or solo can't think of eagles guy's name?
don henly
yes!
Love him brilliant lyricist
It's The Eagles
He grew up in my area.
I used to hate the Eagles, but they are growing on me
Love them
and their version of Please Come Home for Christmas is my favorite Christmas song
And let us not forget the late, great Glenn Frey
Never
I did not rem. he died
did he outdie the other band members? and surely there are people that can outdiet me? why are none of these words working?
I have learned the O is not, in fact, an ou, much to my surprise
def. not an outie belly button
One of those common babble words...
Really? That one must not be committed to my vague memory then. I had to look it up
any against words? I am against neutrals such as ta5, but enable is not
You people who can remember all these obscure, never used words amaze me.
No against
I did finally get the o word and we've had it before but would not look for it
apparently it's a fungi, molly
as opposed to a real drag
Carla manages to blurt two words in one comment. Quite the feat
well, 37 left after first pass. managed to gray 6 tiles.
high point tile was used a lot today.
you mean besides the 7 words that start with it?
yes
*Wonders if people are searching for 7 it words
<--hopes not
hello
howdy
ca 6/30, pls
uses the high point tile
both do
oh thanks, one of the words bea was talking about
the 7 is pt
looks like a fancy version of a shortened word that's a newfangled abacus
is that a fish?
? no
ty carla
It looks like a French word for what you put candles on for a birthday
and Molly
Depending on which ca6/30 you are referring to
either for me
thanks for both ca's.. nice time to enter the game
hi ruru
hi mlf good morning everyone
oh, thanks for the other
still need 5 7's and both 8's. yuck.
morning ruru
i got the ca 6/30 by itself
the 8's were weird, I thought.
oh geez
what do the 8's start with?
li8.60 and gl8.55
trouble apparently
gl 8/55, li 8/60
ooh, got the L, thx
thanks bea got them both
does the G have a 7 with it? and that is GL, right?
would happily accept a clue for either
no.
I think the L is what happens if you melt ice
li7 to melt metal to fuse it
the gl is sword shaped. think of roman fighters
or metal ;)
thanks, bea. was on the right track but was thinking flower related
ty for li!
think russell crowe
are you not entertained?
and the gl! awesome clues!
good morning to you all!
hi HOkie!!
I need to go play Paulette Bunyan. see you next time.
sounds fun.
dolly!
good to see you!
May I have a wee hint on the GU words? Are they really obvious?
you too!
WARNING! Bea is on the loose with an axe!!!
maybe she has a chainsaw!
even worse
spua
oops
I wish that worked
that's creative hokie
just need 1 S
not slique either
spua is when you're choking on water
Matty, start like a tropical fruit and end like the song "She's A Ma5" from Flashdance. Then plural. ANd no, not obvious at all.
did not see matty's post and wondered what in the world molly was talking about
All I can say is that Mr. B and Mother Bea better mind themselves today.
yeah, would have never found those 2 G's, thx
especially mr bea

slightly stuck at 12 left
Last 2 words are impossible for me. GU 6/30 and 7. Help, please?
nm. found them
not sure how one would just find those, so well done.
they were good vowels dump if I was playing Scrabble :)
yes, if I can ever remember them when I'm playing scrabble I will use :D
LOL I was thinking the same thing
good morning all :)
hello nan
hi nan!
Hello all! 25 to go.....
howdy une!
Good morning!
car!
Hi hokie!
Hi Car!
well now I'm really stuck with 11 left.
Hi MLFan
Hi une
I'm not sure how one would just find those gu words either.
D is the biggest problem with 4 left
wishing I knew some of the song from Flashdance
i on the 4th column stats pls?
Greek letter

what is a greek letter?
A letter from the Greek alphabet, of course!

oh, frudge...sorry...
oh - ok - thought maybe it was something for the gu's
oh duhhh ty
I was still hung up on looking for i in 4th col
nan, since you don't know flashdance - a sports "fan" is short for fan****
(except the **** part isn't in the puzzle)
Okay Nan, someone who is obsessed with sex is referred to as a sex ma5 (Easy to look up songs with Google)
good point, dauber
ty molly

ty carla

grats dolly
well done dolly! still 10 here.
wtg!
ty!
keep plugging HOkie! you're on the downhill slide!
I was wondering how someone would think that there is an OL
well, I'm pretty sure mlfan's post says ol, so that's why I clarified. :D
Her post does say OL. I was just wondering how someone could think there was an OL
I was worried she was looking for an OL. LOL.
probably a typo -- I'm sure you have made those too
oh geez, I wasn't berating her over a typo, was trying to be helpful. I will stop. TTFN.
I was replying to Molly's comment, carla
I know there were a bunch of 7's called last night, but not seeing any other than the gl
and with that she finds the mexican one

hello haz!
Hello TO!
ty haz
You're welcome, nan.
ty Haz
You're welcome, bichon.
are you still in lockdown?
Well, some things are beginning to open up.
Non-essential retail can do click and collect, we can meet people in restricted numbers outside, but essentially still in lockdown. No hairdressers yet..
good.
My daughter and son-in-law came by on Saturday. We sat in the garden with duvets over us but it was good to chat.
well, no hairdressers - that is NOT good. ;)
I've even started dreaming about getting my hair cut.
pretty much the same here -- but recommended we don't leave our neighbourhoods and wear masks inside and out as well as distancing. Variants are on a dramatic rise here.
oh my!
how long has it been?
My last hair cut was at the beginning of December.
was it really short before, haz?
i feel that pain. last year I went from feb to the end of august.
Not terribly short, no, but it seems to have accelerated in growth, or maybe I'm just exasperated with it. I should have had a crew cut in December when I had the chance!
time for me to go. house work- and lunch await. happy babbling.
lol -- thinking of going to a judi dench cut when everything opens up again -- so sick of long hair. I've always kept it in a short layered cut, but it has been 15 months and is now well past my shoulders
Thanks, TO, good to see you.
bye to
Nan, my layers are now grown out as well. The only good thing is that my hair has become more curly with age so I am embracing the curl and abandoning trying to blow it dry.
lucky you -- trying valiantly to keep long fine straight hair confined with a clip -- not easy
But you have to allow extra time for it to dry before venturing out. It takes some getting used to but I can understand the frustration of trying to get shape into hair that won't cooperate.
actually I was looking at hairdo's for older women on the internet -- kind of like the Meryl Streep do
I just want to feel neat and tidy again and not looking like the Wreck of the Hesperus - an expression my mother liked to use.
yes - Mom used that one too
That wreck must have made quite the impression!
that and all the starving children in Africa that any uneaten food would have fed
Or the jail awaiting her if I didn't go to school.
oh - didn't get that one
And the career in the mill that awaited me.
I always got "They're starving in Europe"
If I ever claimed I didn't want to go to school, I got the twin horrors of mother in jail and me working in the linen mill. And yes, the starving in Africa, and the children who would be glad of my clothes if I didn't like them. Precious little sympathy!
I grew up in the 50's
the difference a generation makes. There was certainly no coddling or sympathy for mild upsets. More of take it on the chin and get on with it.
I can't remember if I ever threatened my girls. I did overhear the older one telling off the younger one using my style. Number one.... Number two.
i've never grown up
I think we were expected to be resilient.
I have to admit - I never did have and still don't have any patience with prima donas
wow.. flosey is on line :D HI FLosey
cl 7 please -- just know it isn't champagne!
cl7 - descriptive/past tense of cl630, the select band.
not flo…. her son visiting
Hello, visiting son.
hello all
ty haz - didn't know that could be a pt
hi flosey's son
Nor did I, nan.
How is flosey, if you're comfortable to let us know?
Nice and sunny on SaltSpring today?
happy i'm here... wanton self promotion
it is quite sunny
same here -- nice break from the cloud and cold
mum is barely out of bed. still early.
just thinking of taking a breakfast break myself
Mom is feeling OK though?
yes.
we are all looking forward to august.... mum and dad's 60th anniversary
wow - that is quite a milestone. I hope that by then you will be able to celebrate with a big party :)
Wonderful, what a long marriage! I hope they and you enjoy the celebrations.
that is the plan. my sis will take over
I must go, but good to hear about flosey. Take care!
u2... she is in good spirits...
that's great.. please tell George and Flosey hello from me
will do
Bye Haz

I'm hoping we can manage a family reunion somewhere next summer -- there are 18 of us, so it requires some planning. We have had 2 kids turn 50 during this pandemic, and one turning 55 this year - also an 80th birthday and some milestone anniversaries, so a lot to celebrate when the time comes.
hello again,
i met your mother and father a few years back on Salt Spring .. great people
hi flosey
I'm getting away to the Sierras for a couple of nights next week. First time I have been anywhere since Dec '19.

what russel crowe did in a movie, mlfan
What Sparticus did?
today is National Linemen Appreciation Day...so there's that

it's also Unfairly Prosecuted Persons Day in Slovakia...so happy that to any Slovakians out there
You rarely see that word without the or at the end
football linemen or telephone linemen?
power linemen...wonder if they're close enough to phone linemen
got it ty
oh, power linemen
there is a da 5/12 that I cannot find

hi carla - did you see my post just as you left?
41 left
yes, but I don't think molly was commenting on mlfan's post, I think she was talking about mine, which I realized was silly which was why I added no one would think that.
te 7//40, pls
a liquor, bichon
with a worm and all
ok - I thought Molly was commenting on mlf's post
ty carla
np
And I was more or less agreeing with Carla.
giving up - does anyone have a clue for that li 7-8 please?
to turn into water?
or more accurately I guess to a fluid
ok -- don't know what is wrong with liquify that something new had to be "manufactured", but ty
similar ending to the other 8
It usually has an ID in it
maybe someone who doesn't know how to spell made an addition to the dictionary
wondering how I can't find 2 4's out of 5 words left
Someone who doesn't know how to spell created the Enable Word List : D
I think of the longer one more in a financial way
The LI words here have to do with metal not water
where'd ru go? I need some guesses here on GSLAT
You know Carla, Ru does live to serve you but perhaps he had a pressing matter to attend to.
again, I ask, what is wrong with liquify or smelt?
I think he's just lurking ;)
do you have the gl 7/40, carla
*!*~*!* thanks for the help :)
hagd everyone :)
I guess I don't have GL7.
g + most of one who tells fibs + most of what you do in a fine restaurant.
thx, would never have monkeyed
Pretty sure I never saw that one before.
Ahahaha, Carla, it's a gluten-related word. Did you all know that Carla is gluten-free? I think she has mentioned it a time or 25.
I've never even seen prolamin before. learn something new every day.
here's where Harry comes in and knows both words.
someone has to know

sorry to hear that ori...it's tough losing a companion
I'm sorry Origami. Wow, didn't you just lose another pet recently?
oh, sorry, ori.
(another post that snuck in after the fact)
Thanks. Yes, I lost my other dog in early February. Now all I have left is a cat that hates me.
is that the snooty cat?
LOL cats
Yes. She tricks me into petting her and then bites me.
ah yes
don't fall for it
I'm sorry you lost your beloved hound, ori.
Oh wow, a cat that bites would last about two seconds in my place
We have one that bites as well.
Thanks, Bea. I so love hounds.
the Bea is back!
I didn't get to go massacre trees. Sticking close to home as Momisn't feeling well.
that stinks. did she have her procedure this week or was that last?
She had a breathing test last week, which she coudn't take because she was coughing so much. Was going to pain doctor tomorrow, but canceled because she is not feeling up to it.
I'm sorry
i just extended a word i didnt think would
It is what it is.
yep
I hope all turns out well, Bea.
I just found a 4 finally. 3 left! 4, 5, 7 - SLA
I need to go get my second jab, but don't want to be down sick.
you may be fine after...
it must be sl you are missing hokie
the s is your 7
no not a sl
the 5 is A
my brother who is almost 52 didn't have any side effects at all after his 2nd
Carla, do you have the s7 that sounds like Norway and Denmark?
what do you mean sounds like?
I didn't...tx Bzz
I don't think I have any s7. I think I see what you're getting at. looking now...
got it, thx
i dont have an of the 7s
10 to go
i dont understand any of the 7s
I think I will go get some sewing done.
2 left, apparently A5 and L4. focusing now...
bye bea!
You don't know the Mexican whiskey?
bzz what are you making?
OMG, I always miss that L4
who me?
and so of course the A5 is the same ending
but TADA
congrats hokie
nice
9 left here
been snowing here, had to go check on my lettuces
thanks, y'all
what, crazy
was 70 saturday, about 30 today
73 here in the NC mountains
2021 the year women freely spoke about getting jabbed
Mool ... my friend from Denver said you could experience both winter and summer on the same day in Colorado :D
well mostly winter today :)
ba dum ba da da da da dum ba dum ba da da da dum...
gu 6/30 please?
a dip made of avocados with some extra vowels thrown up in it
thanks carla
the avocado dip ends with the same ending as a crazy person starting with M
joy I think that's the best clue for a word I've seen in here
!
well, Molly tried it earlier in regards to Flashdance song but nan wasn't buying it
mainly because she didn't know what Flashdance was
Yeah, well A) I wasn't cluing that for Nan and B) When cluing for Nan, make sure your references don't go beyond the 1940's.
I needed that one, thx
I was actually coming here to guess that moo needed 2 G's off the top row when Luv asked for it
have 4 to go
I don't know, Molly, remember that time she didn't know bazooka, which is from the 40s or before
And if you want to see good clues, go back a few years when people REALLY knew how to clue well without giving the word away.
3 to go
Oh yeah, I forgot about bazooka. That is way before the 40's.
what's the y?
ya4
Nope, I was wrong. Bazookas were designed in 43
ty
Or 42
what are the 8s?
L and G
GL and LI
ooh thanks got the G!
got the L!
what are your last 3, moo?
T L D
4, 5 and 8
I thought you had the 8? I think if you just tried a wee bit harder on that.
sorry not 8...it's a 7 :)
esp since you don't say you need a 7...
ah
ok, that makes more sense
yeah, I think I clued the 8 before ;)
meanwhile you can help me with some other 7s
i have: cl, de, li, sc, te
well, you clued the 7 so I assumed you had the 8 that went with it
okay, they all have 7 letters...and contain consonants and vowels
You need to look a little closer to find that D7. If you had a magnifying glass you could see more D7s.
wow moo, just give them away why don't you
sorry, should work harder on my cluing :)
lol
there is a ca7, hurshy
then there's that sc7
assume you got the g, seeing it was just clued by hoke :)
and GL7 that molly informed me is gluten related
c7 and d7
actually two c7s
that SC7 sounds like a northern country but it isn't.
thank you hokie, looking
I think we have named them all
no, still one other
good luck with the rest, babblers
The C7 is very exclusive
to review, we have now listed: ca7, cl7, de7, gl7, li7, sc7, te7, there remains one other 7, which i guess is whatever mool is missing
and if that's true it must be a T cause i have all the L and D words now
and it would have to come from the bottom left T
Clue for ca7?
there are two ca6/30, it's the past tense of the second one
it looks like a french version of a short way of saying that you computed the answer to some numbers...?
ok, so, mool must have been missing the te7 that i have, because the last 7 is a GU
I have the sailing vessel......
change the third letter
Thanks!!
gu6 start with avocado-based dip, end with a crazy person is a man***. plural for 7
weirdest word of the day by far
the hell kind of a word is that?
I have one word left. It's only a 5 but for some reason I can't find it. It's the first TE5,12 and I'm almost embarrassed to ask for a clue.
te5/12 - te + abbreviation for a midwest state
Have all the 7's except te7......help? Tx
I have that one, april. It's the first TE5,12 I'm looking for. Unless there are two midwest states. Hmmm.
Di6/30...... how bizarre!
the TE7 is a drink
found it...that's one weird word
Tx joy!
FW but I can help with clues for a while...I'll be in and out while I pretend to work so that they don't fire me.
Congrats!
Thx! FW always makes me happy!
still 3
Me too!
2.....
Sl5/14?
one sc5s a tongue when cooking it, or trying to eat something too hot.
oops, sl, not SC my bad

sl5.14 -- a roof, or something handheld one writes on with chalk, could be called sl5.14
Slate.....?
Don't see it :-(
Got it!!!!

still 3...haven't been looking tho

Fw!!!

congrats, Une!
is there a te7?
dunno
cool, that helps

well you took the time to respond :)
found it
2 to go
a 4 and a 5...should be able to get this
there's the 4
te7 -- an alcohol made from agave, or a song.
yep, that's the one
do yo have the babblet te5, with three vowels in a row?
yes
just missing a d5
plural, maybe?
have two plurals
oh, was missing the fish
fw
congrats, mollingwa!
tx, fair number of odd words today
Happy (almost-)HUMP Day from the D.C. area!!
help with either ca6 please. hi all
I wish I could -- but I have yet to find it myself!
any of them! along with 70-some other words
haah
I found the ca6/7
You go!!
I feel ridiculously accomplished for finishing the "A" tiles.
I never see the "Babble only" words. (I can't stand the term Babblet). I suppose I should make a list of them, but that seems to defeat the purpose of "finding words on my own".
clue for the O please?
oi5/12 babblet (sorry Molly)
ty dan. nbt
stats for the Y?

could have sworn I tried that. ty HH
