WTG ANIKE!!

1:28 am

I am on the list at my GP to have my shot and I assume it will be the same.

1:38 am

yes anike. all over 50's are receiving the astra-zeneca. it's very strange how it is affecting younger people particularly females. but on thinking about it, i realised most females under 50 will still be taking some form of birth control i.e. the pill which does have as a major side effect of blood clots.

1:39 am

I'm getting my second shot of Moderna on Weds and I'm a little nervous since a lot of people get sick after the second Moderna shot.

Sorry

Goodness it's quiet here today. Hi everyone!

hi, matty!

7:44 am

Carla was lurking? *Faints*

just trying to get through first pass

7:45 am

As long as it's not The Donner Pass

no thanks

Mmmm...frozen meat ;)

7:47 am

This is why I like Matty, the sick sense of humor. : D

You know me so well.

7:47 am

Brought to you by the makers of Soilent Green.

who wants to guess what kenny rogers song is going through my mind right now?

7:48 am

Good morning, you crazy kids.

hey judi

A Boy Named Sue? ;)

nope, that's johnny cash

(Yes, I know wrong artist. I needed a bit of Cash) ;)

7:49 am

that was johnny cash

7:49 am

You Picked a Fine Time to Leave me Lucille.

this one is in the grid, which is why I'm singing it. plus you'll be sent to the PB if you answer

well now that one is in my head, thanks judi

Or, as the Donner Party said when their wagon broke down, 'you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel'

LOL, I've heard something similar, but how fitting today, matty

7:50 am

Stuck with 57 left.

7:50 am

Good one Matty

7:50 am

Oh, it's the not gentleman song

ding ding ding, molly wins all the dings

7:51 am

I believe that makes Molly a ding-a-ling.

7:52 am

And why not The Commodores?

well now it is

and there was one by styx or someone

7:53 am

stats for the y please?

7:53 am

Although Brick House is their better song

7:54 am

ya 4/7

7:54 am

thx

7:54 am

Not one of Styx better songs

agreed

7:54 am

I've had The Champs song running through my head all morning.

7:55 am

I have been seeing PeeWee Herman dance to that song all morning

hmm, champs song

aha

7:56 am

And dear Lord Bea, at least add sunrise and go for a better earworm

is that eagles or solo can't think of eagles guy's name?

7:57 am

7:58 am

Love him brilliant lyricist

7:58 am

It's The Eagles

7:58 am

He grew up in my area.

I used to hate the Eagles, but they are growing on me

7:59 am

Love them

and their version of Please Come Home for Christmas is my favorite Christmas song

7:59 am

And let us not forget the late, great Glenn Frey

8:00 am

Never

I did not rem. he died

did he outdie the other band members? and surely there are people that can outdiet me? why are none of these words working?

I have learned the O is not, in fact, an ou, much to my surprise

def. not an outie belly button

8:04 am

One of those common babble words...

8:08 am

Really? That one must not be committed to my vague memory then. I had to look it up

any against words? I am against neutrals such as ta5, but enable is not

8:09 am

You people who can remember all these obscure, never used words amaze me.

8:09 am

No against

I did finally get the o word and we've had it before but would not look for it

apparently it's a fungi, molly

as opposed to a real drag

8:10 am

Carla manages to blurt two words in one comment. Quite the feat

well, 37 left after first pass. managed to gray 6 tiles.

8:34 am

high point tile was used a lot today.

you mean besides the 7 words that start with it?

8:38 am

yes

8:40 am

*Wonders if people are searching for 7 it words

<--hopes not

both do

oh thanks, one of the words bea was talking about

8:45 am

the 7 is pt

looks like a fancy version of a shortened word that's a newfangled abacus

8:45 am

is that a fish?

? no

8:47 am

ty carla

8:47 am

It looks like a French word for what you put candles on for a birthday

8:49 am

and Molly

8:49 am

Depending on which ca6/30 you are referring to

8:49 am

either for me

8:50 am

thanks for both ca's.. nice time to enter the game

8:50 am

hi ruru

8:51 am

hi mlf good morning everyone

oh, thanks for the other

still need 5 7's and both 8's. yuck.

morning ruru

8:56 am

i got the ca 6/30 by itself

8:58 am

the 8's were weird, I thought.

oh geez

9:00 am

what do the 8's start with?

9:01 am

li8.60 and gl8.55

trouble apparently

9:01 am

gl 8/55, li 8/60

ooh, got the L, thx

9:02 am

thanks bea got them both

does the G have a 7 with it? and that is GL, right?

9:03 am

would happily accept a clue for either

9:03 am

no.

I think the L is what happens if you melt ice

9:03 am

li7 to melt metal to fuse it

9:04 am

the gl is sword shaped. think of roman fighters

or metal ;)

thanks, bea. was on the right track but was thinking flower related

9:05 am

spua

oops

I wish that worked

9:10 am

that's creative hokie

not slique either

9:10 am

spua is when you're choking on water

9:11 am

Matty, start like a tropical fruit and end like the song "She's A Ma5" from Flashdance. Then plural. ANd no, not obvious at all.

did not see matty's post and wondered what in the world molly was talking about

9:12 am

All I can say is that Mr. B and Mother Bea better mind themselves today.

yeah, would have never found those 2 G's, thx

9:13 am

slightly stuck at 12 left

9:31 am

Last 2 words are impossible for me. GU 6/30 and 7. Help, please?

9:31 am

not sure how one would just find those, so well done.

9:34 am

9:48 am

nan, since you don't know flashdance - a sports "fan" is short for fan****

9:51 am

(except the **** part isn't in the puzzle)

9:51 am

Okay Nan, someone who is obsessed with sex is referred to as a sex ma5 (Easy to look up songs with Google)

9:59 am

keep plugging HOkie! you're on the downhill slide!

10:00 am

I was wondering how someone would think that there is an OL

10:01 am

well, I'm pretty sure mlfan's post says ol, so that's why I clarified. :D

10:01 am

Her post does say OL. I was just wondering how someone could think there was an OL

10:02 am

I was worried she was looking for an OL. LOL.

10:06 am

probably a typo -- I'm sure you have made those too

10:08 am

oh geez, I wasn't berating her over a typo, was trying to be helpful. I will stop. TTFN.

10:09 am

I was replying to Molly's comment, carla

10:14 am

I know there were a bunch of 7's called last night, but not seeing any other than the gl

hello haz!

10:21 am

Hello TO!

10:22 am

ty haz

10:22 am

You're welcome, nan.

10:23 am

ty Haz

10:24 am

You're welcome, bichon.

are you still in lockdown?

10:24 am

Well, some things are beginning to open up.

10:25 am

Non-essential retail can do click and collect, we can meet people in restricted numbers outside, but essentially still in lockdown. No hairdressers yet..

good.

10:26 am

My daughter and son-in-law came by on Saturday. We sat in the garden with duvets over us but it was good to chat.

well, no hairdressers - that is NOT good. ;)

10:27 am

I've even started dreaming about getting my hair cut.

10:27 am

pretty much the same here -- but recommended we don't leave our neighbourhoods and wear masks inside and out as well as distancing. Variants are on a dramatic rise here.

oh my!

how long has it been?

10:28 am

My last hair cut was at the beginning of December.

10:29 am

was it really short before, haz?

i feel that pain. last year I went from feb to the end of august.

10:30 am

Not terribly short, no, but it seems to have accelerated in growth, or maybe I'm just exasperated with it. I should have had a crew cut in December when I had the chance!

time for me to go. house work- and lunch await. happy babbling.

10:32 am

lol -- thinking of going to a judi dench cut when everything opens up again -- so sick of long hair. I've always kept it in a short layered cut, but it has been 15 months and is now well past my shoulders

10:32 am

Thanks, TO, good to see you.

10:32 am

bye to

10:33 am

Nan, my layers are now grown out as well. The only good thing is that my hair has become more curly with age so I am embracing the curl and abandoning trying to blow it dry.

10:34 am

lucky you -- trying valiantly to keep long fine straight hair confined with a clip -- not easy

10:35 am

But you have to allow extra time for it to dry before venturing out. It takes some getting used to but I can understand the frustration of trying to get shape into hair that won't cooperate.

10:37 am

actually I was looking at hairdo's for older women on the internet -- kind of like the Meryl Streep do

10:37 am

I just want to feel neat and tidy again and not looking like the Wreck of the Hesperus - an expression my mother liked to use.

10:38 am

yes - Mom used that one too

10:38 am

That wreck must have made quite the impression!

10:39 am

that and all the starving children in Africa that any uneaten food would have fed

10:40 am

Or the jail awaiting her if I didn't go to school.

10:40 am

oh - didn't get that one

10:40 am

And the career in the mill that awaited me.

10:41 am

I always got "They're starving in Europe"

10:43 am

If I ever claimed I didn't want to go to school, I got the twin horrors of mother in jail and me working in the linen mill. And yes, the starving in Africa, and the children who would be glad of my clothes if I didn't like them. Precious little sympathy!

10:44 am

I grew up in the 50's

10:44 am

the difference a generation makes. There was certainly no coddling or sympathy for mild upsets. More of take it on the chin and get on with it.

10:45 am

I can't remember if I ever threatened my girls. I did overhear the older one telling off the younger one using my style. Number one.... Number two.

10:45 am

i've never grown up

10:46 am

I think we were expected to be resilient.

10:46 am

I have to admit - I never did have and still don't have any patience with prima donas

10:46 am

wow.. flosey is on line :D HI FLosey

10:49 am

cl 7 please -- just know it isn't champagne!

10:50 am

cl7 - descriptive/past tense of cl630, the select band.

Hello, visiting son.

Nice and sunny on SaltSpring today?

10:53 am

10:53 am

it is quite sunny

10:53 am

10:53 am

mum is barely out of bed. still early.

10:54 am

just thinking of taking a breakfast break myself

10:55 am

Mom is feeling OK though?

10:55 am

yes.

10:56 am

we are all looking forward to august.... mum and dad's 60th anniversary

10:57 am

wow - that is quite a milestone. I hope that by then you will be able to celebrate with a big party :)

10:57 am

Wonderful, what a long marriage! I hope they and you enjoy the celebrations.

10:57 am

that is the plan. my sis will take over

10:58 am

I must go, but good to hear about flosey. Take care!

10:58 am

11:00 am

11:01 am

I imagine

11:01 am

I'm hoping we can manage a family reunion somewhere next summer -- there are 18 of us, so it requires some planning. We have had 2 kids turn 50 during this pandemic, and one turning 55 this year - also an 80th birthday and some milestone anniversaries, so a lot to celebrate when the time comes.

11:03 am

hello again,

11:04 am

i met your mother and father a few years back on Salt Spring .. great people

11:04 am

hi flosey

11:04 am

I'm getting away to the Sierras for a couple of nights next week. First time I have been anywhere since Dec '19.

11:17 am

hi carla - did you see my post just as you left?

11:19 am

41 left

11:19 am

yes, but I don't think molly was commenting on mlfan's post, I think she was talking about mine, which I realized was silly which was why I added no one would think that.

11:19 am

te 7//40, pls

11:20 am

11:22 am

And I was more or less agreeing with Carla.

11:22 am

giving up - does anyone have a clue for that li 7-8 please?

11:23 am

to turn into water?

11:24 am

or more accurately I guess to a fluid

11:25 am

ok -- don't know what is wrong with liquify that something new had to be "manufactured", but ty

11:25 am

similar ending to the other 8

11:25 am

It usually has an ID in it

11:25 am

maybe someone who doesn't know how to spell made an addition to the dictionary

11:26 am

wondering how I can't find 2 4's out of 5 words left

11:26 am

Someone who doesn't know how to spell created the Enable Word List : D

11:26 am

I think of the longer one more in a financial way

11:27 am

The LI words here have to do with metal not water

11:28 am

where'd ru go? I need some guesses here on GSLAT

11:29 am

You know Carla, Ru does live to serve you but perhaps he had a pressing matter to attend to.

11:29 am

again, I ask, what is wrong with liquify or smelt?

11:30 am

I think he's just lurking ;)

11:31 am

do you have the gl 7/40, carla

11:33 am

*!*~*!* thanks for the help :)

11:33 am

hagd everyone :)

11:39 am

11:43 am

thx, would never have monkeyed

11:44 am

Pretty sure I never saw that one before.

11:47 am

Ahahaha, Carla, it's a gluten-related word. Did you all know that Carla is gluten-free? I think she has mentioned it a time or 25.

11:48 am

I've never even seen prolamin before. learn something new every day.

11:48 am

here's where Harry comes in and knows both words.

11:49 am

11:51 am

11:51 am

I'm sorry Origami. Wow, didn't you just lose another pet recently?

11:52 am

oh, sorry, ori.

11:52 am

(another post that snuck in after the fact)

11:52 am

Thanks. Yes, I lost my other dog in early February. Now all I have left is a cat that hates me.

11:52 am

is that the snooty cat?

11:53 am

LOL cats

11:53 am

Yes. She tricks me into petting her and then bites me.

11:53 am

ah yes

11:53 am

don't fall for it

11:53 am

I'm sorry you lost your beloved hound, ori.

11:54 am

Oh wow, a cat that bites would last about two seconds in my place

11:54 am

We have one that bites as well.

11:54 am

Thanks, Bea. I so love hounds.

11:54 am

the Bea is back!

11:55 am

I didn't get to go massacre trees. Sticking close to home as Momisn't feeling well.

11:57 am

that stinks. did she have her procedure this week or was that last?

11:58 am

She had a breathing test last week, which she coudn't take because she was coughing so much. Was going to pain doctor tomorrow, but canceled because she is not feeling up to it.

11:59 am

I'm sorry

11:59 am

gu 6/30 please?

a dip made of avocados with some extra vowels thrown up in it

thanks carla

2:23 pm

the avocado dip ends with the same ending as a crazy person starting with M

2:24 pm

joy I think that's the best clue for a word I've seen in here

2:24 pm

!

well, Molly tried it earlier in regards to Flashdance song but nan wasn't buying it

mainly because she didn't know what Flashdance was

2:27 pm

Yeah, well A) I wasn't cluing that for Nan and B) When cluing for Nan, make sure your references don't go beyond the 1940's.

2:27 pm

I needed that one, thx

I was actually coming here to guess that moo needed 2 G's off the top row when Luv asked for it

2:28 pm

have 4 to go

I don't know, Molly, remember that time she didn't know bazooka, which is from the 40s or before

2:29 pm

And if you want to see good clues, go back a few years when people REALLY knew how to clue well without giving the word away.

2:29 pm

3 to go

2:29 pm

Oh yeah, I forgot about bazooka. That is way before the 40's.

2:30 pm

what's the y?

ya4

2:30 pm

Nope, I was wrong. Bazookas were designed in 43

2:30 pm

ty

2:30 pm

Or 42

2:31 pm

what are the 8s?

2:32 pm

L and G

GL and LI

2:32 pm

ooh thanks got the G!

2:32 pm

got the L!

what are your last 3, moo?

2:36 pm

T L D

2:36 pm

4, 5 and 8

I thought you had the 8? I think if you just tried a wee bit harder on that.

2:38 pm

sorry not 8...it's a 7 :)

2:38 pm

esp since you don't say you need a 7...

2:38 pm

ah

ok, that makes more sense

2:39 pm

yeah, I think I clued the 8 before ;)

2:39 pm

meanwhile you can help me with some other 7s

2:39 pm

i have: cl, de, li, sc, te

well, you clued the 7 so I assumed you had the 8 that went with it

2:39 pm

okay, they all have 7 letters...and contain consonants and vowels

2:39 pm

You need to look a little closer to find that D7. If you had a magnifying glass you could see more D7s.

2:40 pm

wow moo, just give them away why don't you

2:40 pm

sorry, should work harder on my cluing :)

lol

there is a ca7, hurshy

2:41 pm

then there's that sc7

2:41 pm

assume you got the g, seeing it was just clued by hoke :)

and GL7 that molly informed me is gluten related

2:41 pm

c7 and d7

2:41 pm

actually two c7s

2:42 pm

that SC7 sounds like a northern country but it isn't.

2:42 pm

thank you hokie, looking

I think we have named them all

2:45 pm

no, still one other

good luck with the rest, babblers

2:45 pm

The C7 is very exclusive

2:47 pm
