And we weren't as careful about lock-downs after the first one - especially before Christmas. The situation is very bad in Alberta too, but we're still only partly locked down.
There's a lot of resistance to both lockdowns and wearing masks in Alberta.
We're still partly loked down in Virginia also, though we're doing well with vaccination rates.
there's more resistance to vaccines here from normal, non anti-vaxxers. even my 21 year old niece won't get it because she doesn't want to be infertile. WTF? where did she hear that one?

I don't know why, because Canada apparently had early contracts for a number of vaccines, but they've been slow to come. We're probably unwilling to pay a premium for them, and we have no (or little) production capacity.

It's 100% approved by the FDA and the CDC. Who else does it need to be 100% approved by?

The impact of arguing that the vaccine is unsafe in a public forum like this is that you will dissuade people from getting the vaccine. If you manage to dissuade 100 people from getting vaccinated, and they get COVID, statistically speaking, and depending on age, 2 or 3 of them will die.
I disagree - people should know facts and make informed decisions. Shutting down educated discussion because we want to line people up rolling their sleeves is not how things should operate. And yes, I've gotten my 2 shots.
I'm not trying to shut down discussion. I just think people should qualify their arguments, and think about their impact.

but from what I've read, the trial groups were much much larger than regular vaccine trials, so that gives a much larger sample size, so is it less rigorous?
My understanding is that it was accelerated, so long term effects might not be as well understood. Also the fact that it's a new mRNA thing would generally indicate more study. But this is not my field.
