a neighbor clearing property did not check with utilities, rented a bulld5/22 and crushed the feed line...
well, there was a guy here trying to mark the gas line for the workers that are putting in a new drainpipe from the street. he rang the doorbell to let me know.
natural gas pipe breaks are incredibly dangerous. That idiot with the bulld.. could have been liable for a lot of injuries and damages, not to mention could have killed someone. (I work in the energy policy field so this kind of stuff upsets me.)
Oh, I know! Now, that being said, it happened in the mid 80s, so we all had gun racks in our pickup trucks...
Not saying they should not have paid more care to the situation but *shrug*... Yeah, at least now they have regular markers (here) for gas/utility lines w/# to call posted.
I think they may have even hired someone to go level everything but, still, markers were not up back in the day so I look at it as lessons learned (for others. It was a stupid shortcut).
Think pre-internet, so they would have had to go to the planning commission, gotten a proper surveyor and w/permission and paid for that whereas now, most of that info is attainable online.
and joy, I totally agree with you. totally. I (and my family) try to be stewards of our land/wildlife. It's just stupid to not be.

and i am home again and into our fourth lockdown. so utterly over others mistakes, causing untold unhappiness and grief.
using already established hotels, motels for quarantine purposes is out of order. their ventilation systems are not up to the standards required to prevent the spread of cv-19 to other rooms.
that's awful, rose.....here in Maine we are just starting to get out more....i think the state has 53 % of the population fully vaccinated....
I'm sure that must apply to many apartment buildings too.

we have just found out that despite the lockdown, my husband/carer's hand surgery is to go ahead on Monday.i am really not sure how we are going to manage. should be an interesting couple of weeks as he recovers.

i'll have to ring around. i don't think he realises just how sore he is going to be. and he really does need the surgery. poor man is in constant pain. severe carpal tunnel syndrome.
