6:19 am

Hey, IG

6:20 am

Hi IG.

Yeah, Scrab - I need my caffeine to get going

6:30 am

Just one cup in the morning. And to abort migraines.

I admit to a bit more - gotta have a boost in the afternoon

6:32 am

If I have caffeine after 11a I have trouble sleeping.

what is this "sleep" you speak of? : )

6:33 am

To sleep, perchance to dream.

6:34 am

And now I must get ready for work. So long, Babblers.

7:34 am

Happy Bloomsday all!

7:39 am

For those who don't know, Bloomsday is a celebration of James Joyce. It is celebrated on June 16th because that is the day featured in Joyce's novel "Ulysses"

8:09 am

And in honor of Bloomsday, ‘intellectuals’ who claim to have read Ulysses, dress up in the fashion of 1904 - (straw boater hats are essential for the gentlemen), and visit the various sites around Dublin which featured in the novel, doing readings & re-enactments. It’s quite a fun day, or it would have been, had festivities not been dampened by covid restrictions.

8:14 am

I never read many of the "Classics" way too heavy reading for me

8:15 am

There are classics, and then there’s Ulysses! It goes waaaay over my head.

8:21 am

Yeah, but you have got to love a line like this: “The sea, the snotgreen sea, the scrotumtightening sea.”

8:23 am

yeah, Ulysses is in an experimental category all by itself, honestly

8:23 am

and I say this as an English major

8:26 am

it takes a lot of balls to write scrotum tightening

8:26 am

Just like Shakespeare, Joyce's writing was of the period in which he lived. Not many of us can hang with 1920 speak. And he was writing about 1904 so that colors how it was written as well.

8:27 am

It does Ru. Kind of makes me blue.

I might need more coffee

8:30 am

I mean they do it in SF but who knew on the sea?

I like how sc6 is in the grid in honor

da 5/16 clue pls?

12:25 pm

Like the one I clued earlier - a latin singular - this one for a very common plural meaning numbers in a base

12:27 pm

no x?

12:28 pm

I don’t know what word you’re thinking of, but not that

12:29 pm

i googled what you said and the word that came up has an x init

12:29 pm

in it

12:29 pm

last letter

12:29 pm

you are so ra* vowel x

12:30 pm

A da**base is a computer program that collects info, or da4

12:30 pm

Singular of da4

12:33 pm

got it

12:35 pm

Well I am really stuck now until someone asks for one I don’t have.

12:38 pm

Oooh, found the T’s. 7 left!

12:41 pm

6, have caught up to moo unless he’s just not updating us

12:46 pm

1-1-3-1 PP C R A G. Historically not good with the 6s so this is bad for finishing sans list.

12:58 pm

Checked the flip for my last 7 - a past tense I thought was a phantom

12:58 pm

I still have 5 to go

1:05 pm

1-1-1-1

1:06 pm

oops, 1-1-2-1

1:06 pm

well, found my 7

1-1-3

And out of ideas

Ha! Finally found my last 4 letter. 4 words left.

1:28 pm

I found a 6

1:28 pm

sorry the 7

1:29 pm

so 1-1-2 for me

0-1-3 PP R A

1:30 pm

PPP L for me

Duh, forgot enable includes those P’s. R A now

So A6 and R6 left

1:36 pm

I can guess the a6

1:36 pm

r6, would need to know which one you have

I’m guessing 75% of yours are a specific type of word yuo don’t think is allowed

Ok, please do

1:37 pm

found two p words

I have a chemistry R

1:38 pm

and you have over 80% of the r word ;)

1:38 pm

I guess technically you have 100% of it, just haven't assembled it yet

Were yurr P’s a 5/6?

1:39 pm

yes

1:40 pm

found my last p...just a l left

1:40 pm

fw

Monkeyed the R and didn’t notice it took

Well done

A6 left

1:41 pm

the a looks like an old spelling

1:41 pm

We have it from time to time

2nd letter?

Btw, phantom atrocity

1:43 pm

ar

Points? Just not getting it. obvi.

1:45 pm

yeah, it's not an obvious word

1:45 pm

ar 6/24

Not arsony or arcany if anyone is wondering

Shew, finally fireworks. Gracias

1:51 pm

Clue for ar6?

We usually see it as ar6/18, so change a vowel to a sometimes vowel

Rhymes with putting oil on someone

2:12 pm

congrats hoke...we almost finished the same time today

2:13 pm

sorry, had to step away for a call

No probs. I am just sitting on a beach right now. I hope Molly is siting down when she reads that.

2:22 pm

Sounds great...I wouldn't mind sitting on a beach right now...though probably wouldn't be playing babble :)

I forgot my bag of magazines I’ve been saving up to read, so nothing else to do while sitting here. I have my kindle but need a book.

It’s kinda boring without kids to play sports with on the beach

2:31 pm

yeah, I can see that

3:19 pm

are you ocean or lakefront, hokie?

3:19 pm

(she said nearly an hour after hokie's last post)

ocean

3:49 pm

urf

4:00 pm

Oh man. I envy you Carla. On an ocean beach. No kindle or kids to distract you. CARPE DIEM!

4:03 pm

Having said that - I’m looking forward to being distracted by Son of Soodle, his GF & my darling grandson on Friday. Haven’t seen him in person since Christmas 2019. The fatted calf is quaking in its boots.

ohh, enjoy, soodle!

5:28 pm

I'm sitting down Carla. I know you lead a charmed life. Good for you.

6:57 pm

Clue for ar6 please

6:57 pm

it's a babblet we usually have spelled with an i

6:58 pm

Nm!!

6:58 pm

To quote hokie earlier "We usually see it as ar6/18, so change a vowel to a sometimes vowel"

6:58 pm

Sorry - hit enter then saw that it was no longer needed

6:59 pm

could help someone else :)

7:01 pm

I suppose :)

7:06 pm

Gu5/20 please? My last word...

7:07 pm

Rhymes with a clay-like substance (used to seal windows, etc.)

7:07 pm

Nm! Fw!!

7:07 pm

Congrats!

8:58 pm

sorry I wasn't here when crossy found the sc7. I bet he had a ball
