Hey Jac, wanted to say (just before flip) re conversation about the properties of fox poo(!) - get rid of the foxes and get a bunny - so sweet and loving and soft and cuddly and easily house trained. No problem if they miss their litter box, 'cos bunny poo comes in net little pellets which don't smell, because they're herbivores.

It is interesting because the light changes, whether we turn the clocks or not. Eventually, we end up in the same place, light-wise. It's just artificially enhanced by the time change. Our circadian rhythms are based on hours of daylight, not what time it is.
I just think that if it made sense once upon a time, we now have... both artificial light a plenty and a disregulated lifestyle to boot. Why force a change when it's useless? Stick MA on Atlantic Standard Time if you really want to make a difference in evening light

I have a singer that I got in the early 80's and it has never let me down. Where as my new fancy machine can be a diva some days.
the two (simple) machines i was looking at are the singer m1000 mending machine (VERY affordable) and the m4411 (better motor, but twice the price)
If you are going to do just mending and simple sewing tasks. I would find one with the functions you need and in your price range.

The better motor might make for a sturdier, strnger machine.

Speaking of disgusting...Friday I was volunterring in a community garden. My job is to take care of the birds. I was cleaning out a large, deep bird bath and there was so much muck in it, i just started scooping the water out with my hands.
I touched upon something that I thought was a waterlogged plant stalk. When I pulled it out it was a dead rat that had been mostly eaten by a hawk, then deposited in the bath.
I screamed like a girl!

i have a hawk in my palm tree .. he surveys the vineyard behind my house and gets rabbits, squirrels and such

I think the older you are the less the reactions are, but that's because your body doesn't mount as much as an immune response.

I told my mom I'd like for her to get her booster before Thanksgiving (ideally now). I ask her like every day and her response is "they told me not to get it before my mammogram". yes, but your mammogram was 2 weeks ago! She doesn't drive anymore but her sister takes her to things. I'd like for her sister to get her booster now too, since she has family come in for Thanksgiving too.

Usually, cars that old are one repair after another.

Good luck Sophie. I had a similar issue with one of my favorite old cars (wish I still had it). Battery, alternator maybe a new generator and eventually found out it was a short in the ignition wire. That great old Volvo had over 250,000 miles.
