This grid is a blast!
Morning, IG!
Hi, Une
Must take pups out to pee......90 to go.....
just got the 10 - fun fun fun!
Kudos!
gotta go to work! 101 to go - fun grid!
Hagd!!
hello all
did I try nooner today? of course.
hi, lindy
Good morning, peeps.
hey bea.
Carla, you made it home safely. Where did you wheels take you this time?
we went to Hilton Head. were going to stay just a few days but it was so nice there we stayed a few more.
A couple of my girlfriends from KS and I are planning a getaway this summer. We are going to staying on Emerald Isle.
I've never been there. It sounds nice.
It's my favorite beach in NC.
had to look at the map to see where it is
Love Hilton Head
I think Bea is trying to distract me (and maybe her) from the fact there are 52 P's
I love P's
yeah, HH is very nice this time of year. I think it's way too crowded in the summer.
And if you use the PREfix...
Any great beach is crowded in the summer.
not even to the 3rd row but have picked up 19 p's already. working on the A right now.
There are 58 C's
thanks for pointing that out
You're welcome.
glad to know toepie isn't a word
eww
phantom pirogi
LOL!
well, 90 left after first pass. can't find the middle O or bottom R and 1 short of half on the middle col E.
It is digitally lindy
oh, found an o
Did you find the veg?
I am also missing that bottom R, along with the i (eye) above it - would anyone be kind enough to provide stats, please?
of course not, thanks
the i is ir5
ir5.14
I wonder if that bottom R isn't a biggie?
Thanks both!
My bet is it is.
That would be my guess, yeah.
I think the bottom R has to be an RE and it has to involve the R near it.
that R is a 5/6 combo
and you are right, hokie
that's small than I thought it would be.(TWSS) how haven't I monkeyed it yet?
*smaller
TWSS?

that's the only one I have for that E
thanks, lyn. forgot that one.
Almost played with the Beatles?
Mr. Starr with a vowel

Ah, gotya. Thanks again!
HOET!
(though aided)
Woop! Found the 10
nice
See I was thinking Pete Best for almost played with the Beatles. So far off.
I'm just happy I've found 10 of the 8s so far
I was thinking as Molly was! I only have five of the 8s, so a bit behind you
The Suffixes du jour make the 8's easier
pretty sure they all have the same ending
that's right, the last one I found had the other suffix
eek, only 10 4's left out of 74

howdy welki
forgot about that one, thanks, bea
Good morning, welki.
finallly unboxed the sewing machine yesterday. it took me longer to thread the needle than to make the little hand warmer (that turned out great).
Very nice!
did you get one with an automatic threader?
Good morning, Babblers.
My trick to threading the needle is to lick you thumb and index and run it down the needle.
no, but thinking i should have. i did find an ancient threader in my old sewing kit, so that worked out okay
howdy scrabbs
My auto threader never works correctly.
i considered a self-threader, but thought it was one more thing that could break on the machine - wanted to keep it simple and easy
I have one that's a PITA, but the rest work great.
(and i listened to bea - it's not hard with the threader and a friend told me that, if i want, there are more modern threaders for machines that work pretty well)
hi scrabbs!
my coverstitch machine is a babylock with the air threading. it's so awesome. when my serger gives out I will definitely get a babylock serger for that.
I thought about getting a serger, but I don't sew clothing.
in my (low) price range, i could have a variable speed pedal and a more powerful motor or a self-threader.
my LQS sells a ton of sergers and I couldn't figure out why since I seem to be the only one in the area who makes clothing. apparently a lot of quilters use them.
I've seen them used on the outsides of quilts that haven't been sandwiched yet.
well, I've gotta get busy. 62 left for later.
later, carla
there's an old (really old) folk music magazine in the grid
Hm
it was published in nyc when i was a kid, and i loved getting my hands on the magazines. it had articles, music, lyrics.
we're expecting our first winter storm, scrabb - nasty winds, freezing rain and a few inches of snow. glad we've enough food for a few days. we also have a small generator, in case the power goes out.
Our Alberta clipper just passed through yesterday and we 1-2 inches out there.
A generator is smart. My mother needs one.
yeah - sorry about that. just enough snow to make it messy.
The radar map was far more impressive than what happened.

You're welcome!
I haven't seen MLF lately. She ok?
haven't seen her in two weeks...
No idea, bichon. I've been worried about her.
No email for her?
Not in her profile.
It is probably best not to assume the worst. Sometimes people just get tired of playing.
she was such a regular player that I'd be surprised if she just stopped, though
I hope she's on a lovely vacation!
same here...
Me too, mael.
Did she once say she was in a wheelchair?
Yes.
does the to6/24 have to do with the foot digit?

Someone posted re/10 this morning and then Ireland. If that makes sense to anyone, let me know
I saw that just when I came in. I didn't get it either.

You have probably done it before, Carla.
did it a lot when I had little kids
didn't you clue it before in the chat hokie? I"m confused

i found the 10 on my own with no clue. super happy
I'm missing one P...ugh!
I had the 8 so might have gotten there eventually
still need 10 p's!
oh, 8 p's. had missed the set ru would be disappointed I missed.
Yes, Ru often thinks about what words you get and what words you miss. It takes up a good bit of his day.
and the no 4 is there to go with it :)
well, when you say it that way now I have to clue blurt - it was a set of wines.
see, nan gets it
nan lives in wine country :)
so I should say ru and nan would be disappointed
wonder how many ph's there are - just one so far
I have just found 1 as well
just 1
need 6 more p's - ugh
still 7 here
6!
Enable is not allowing the plural of 6/27? ...We tried to record the orchestra in one go, but due to technical issues had to resort to multiple ta7...

I'm not through my first pass yet, only found 19 of those 33 c's
19 amd 17 on the c's here -- this is a tough grid after the first 200

Pa8 again (gerund)
I am wondering if we have the same missing words, nan...just listed with 64 to go

Italian musical term for 'all together', cybernan.

er6/24 = e plus a famous drummer from a British group.
ty jacula
y/w
just need the ri 7 - running musical terms through my head
isn't the musical term for all together "tutti?"
Yes, Joy it is - but the ri7/32 means the same.
that's the only one I can think of, joy
i think that's the italian term joy
ri + bad spelling of keyboard instrument
you see tutti in music scores as well, blah
Starts with 'to tear' then ends up like misspelled keyboard instrument.
ty molly
Apparently, ri7 and tutti mean the same thing
*!*~*!* hagd everyone. Need to get some lunch and then head out to do some Christmas shopping.
Aside from making the Christmas cakes, I haven't even thought about Christmas yet. Enjoy, cybernan!
3 more to go here and then I'm going to watch a couple of epidodes of the new Dexter series.
*~*~*FIREWORKS*~*~* Happy Babbling all!
congrats jacula
has anyone made any use of that X at all?
I'd be interested to hear your review of the new Dexter Jac. I loved the first few series. I felt the momentum dwindled in later series. Please give us your review.
anyone have pi6/30?
swine + not in
ah, thanks

I'm trying to get to HOET before I list but I still need an upper I and a 4th row E.
upper i, preposition
That's the only upper i that I have. 😢
oh i see you need HALF
in5 gold bar
just monkeyed another!
looks like some kind of charged particle
ty hurshy, that's all of them!
ep6/27 ends like a shape (penta hexa octo)
And now for the 4th row E -- I have a number, an altered drummer, and a long time.
has 2 7s with it, one plural, one with a vowel
there's also e + treaty/promise type thing
and an ep4/6
ty hurshy!
definitely some weird ones there eh?
def. There's one that I would have guessed was a type of pasta.
IS IT too early for a NI 8/65?
Bedtime tipple IG
Ah - reread it , obviously too late for me to follow a conversation properly! sorry.
Indeed, Gran - too early
you answered it correctly with the referral to bed time

Almost midnight here. I have gin but no tonic.

CLUE for ch 6 please.
nm found it
I seem to be awake at silly am (4.41 am in UK). Grid is long done for me so if anyone needs clues I'm here for a while.
No takers?
Just checked the ranking list for the first time in about 4 years. I'm still ranked 9th. lol
Ri5/16, if there is no one in need of clues, I'll be off now. Stuff to do!
Stuff at this time of the morning mostly involves cats and foes.
Foes? Where did my x go? I should have said foxes. lol
Clunky keyboard yet again. Must put a new one on my Christmas present list!
made it to HOET and 77 left
we have fewer foxes where i live since the coyetes arrived.
seain - thank goodness we don't have coyotes here in UK.
allyall - Hi! Just yell if you need clues/
the wolves didn't eat the foxes, but the coyotes do. Coyotes only arrived this side of the Appalachians about 8 years ago.
That's interesting. seain. I wonder why that happened?
I remember watching a wildlife programme on TV about how the reintroduction of wolves into an area in the US rebalanced it.
early settlers killed them here (I'm in Virginia near MD and DC) ANd a bit to the West of the Appalachians in Ohio at least. took them time to work their way back east.
I teach HS math and I have never used the word pe8
they mostly outcompete the wolves.
pr8, allyall?
pe7/8
allyall - I remember that word for the 360 deg angle from maths lessons in the 70s in UK, and I'm rubbish at maths.
LOL :)
pr8/50 is what you hope to get if your pr5/12 machine doesn't throw a wobbler! lol
seain - sounds like the coyotes need culling/managing!
they are solitary, with large territories.
They sound a menace, seain!
we do have annual deer hunts.
only bow and arrow, and densely populated area.
Yes, we have deer culling here, which is a necessity, and also unnecessary badger and fox culls.
Bow and arrow, like gun shots are only kind if the marksman is accurate.
agreed re marksmen
we have one remaining fox hunt in my region, in Middleburg, VA in May. It's a no-kill hunt.
For badger culling, read unfair trapping using dogs, nets and lamps at night. For fox culling, read despite the horse and hound hunting having been banned, it still happens here.
the horse and hound style is the state sport here in VA.
jousting is the state sport in Maryland.
the Maryland Renaissance Faire hosts the annual Maryland Jousting Championship tournament in October.
I think that's awful, seain! I've never agreed with that method. Have you ever seen an exhausted fox torn apart by hounds and watched the awful hooray Henrys blooding their children on their first hunt by smearing the fox's blood on their cheeks and forehead. Totally barbaric!
Jousting is good, seain!
I have, seen yes. I used to attend the Middleburg Hunt regularly.
Watch jousting at Warwick Castle every now and then.
I think we will have to agree to disagree about hunting animals.
oh, nice re the jousting.
the fox hunt is mean. Other hunting we eat the animals.
Yes, hunting and making a clean kill is a better way of finding meat than factory farming them to send them to the abbatoir.
help with to7 the first ?
allyall - to7/40 is not this morning.
ty! clearly tired, seems obvious. 41 left, but going to bed. well past my bedtime.
Dormez bien, allyall.
sweet dreams, i'm off to bed too. Happy Babbling, yall!
Sleep well, Seain.
3 mins to go now. If anyone needs a last minute clue better ask quickly!

I'll tale a first pass at grid to come and then come back to it later.
