Ooh, fun grid! just found the SH 8/70
hello all
Good morning!
good morning, aslindy and IG
hi welki
i like a grid with no 0/0 tiles
Good morning, friends.
hi, bea - good thanksgiving?
It was a good day. Thanks, welki. My hands are a wreck from being in dishwater all day, but it was worth it.
How is your family?
they're doing well, thanks - kids are cast-free and bones are healing. the older one has an appointment pending in boston with a pediatric orthopedist to make sure things are the way they're supposed to be. she was a bit short on vitamin d. the younger one is still a little afraid to bend her elbow, but that's to be expected - they'll check range of motion at next appointment and decide if she needs physiotherapy
I'm sure they are happy to be out of casts. Glad they are better.
how's your mother feeling?
I've got our grandson's here for the weekend. Doesn't happen as much as we would like.
ahh, the teenagers - lots of energy in the house (except in the morning)
Mom is doing okay. I'm worried because she still has a terrible cough. But she says she feels better, She always feels better when she is taking pred.
does she have COPD?
Yes.
ugh - that cough :(
We will see how she does over the weekend. May call the dr on Monday. Not sure they can offer any other treatment.
They have strongly suggested a biologic.
She has refused, but I think it is time to reconsider.
why is she hesitant?
She is afraid she will have a bad reaction. There are so many meds she is allergic to. But, we have tried to explain to her that it is a different kind of med.
easy to understand, after all she's been through, but frustrating for you
It is about a three hour round trip drive to get the initial injections. That is also making her hesitant.
She can not continue to have exacerbations every two months.
no, they likely take a heavy toll on her. i wish i had some good advice on how to convince her, but i'm sure you've used everything in your arsenal
My brother takes a biologic. I will have him talk to her.
What is a biolagic?
It is a manufactured in a living organism rather than created from chemical compounds.
ty Bea
Humera and Fasenra are ones you may have seen tv ads for.
humera does have some bad side effects
at least that's what they say in the ads
That is why you must have the first three injections in a medical facility. After you present no side effects, you can do it at home.
Ru, did you have a pleasant Thanksgiving?
yes.. it was a long drive and a long day though. I'm kind of beat from all the driving
how about you guys?
Driving is always arduous, for me any way.
i do tons of driving every week. I'm used to it
We had a good day. Kids from Raleigh came down. They brought smoked brisket and turkey. Grandsons are staying the weekend.
i had a nice time with my dad's side of the family. not everyone was there but we still had a good 60 people, lol. (my dad's one of nine in his family)
That's lot of people! I miss the big family dinners.
These K's are ridic!
i'm just on the top row
some trouble with SSTs lol
clues for the bottom right corner I?
Yes, I barely made 1/2 on those.

thx for the im clues, finally NBT

Nice one both of you!
flormide sounds like a drug lol
ha, i tried formide
Good day to all.
good day to you, scrabs!
Hello, Scrabbler!
I was getting charts ready before I go to work in 2 hours.
how does one get a chart ready?
Review the chart, choose the correct template for the visit, review if vaccines are needed. I like to be prepared.
help with di8 pls hi all
nice.
moving day is tomorrow and I am overwhelmed
Oh, no, Peri. Moving is so tough.
it is only downstairs but iit is a different entrance and lot of things are going to the basement.
the same amount of time and effort go into removing things from drawers, shelves and packing etc as it would be for a move across town
and I am not a happy camper at the moment
di8 pls
nm monkeyed it
I passed halfway. Peri, I wish I could be there to help.
good morning all - barely got started last night when I crashed
hate moving -- we moved after 28 years in one house 3 years ago and I'm still not over it
I think we should be able to strike all botany words from the dictionary
hello friends. Oh, I am so sad about Torgone....
had he been sick for a long time?
If he was, I did not know. He never mentioned it
ok - I was really surprised to hear that he had passed. He wasn't that old, was he?
no
yes, it took me by total surprise. I was gutted
Does anyone know what happened to him? I knew he traveled a lot so I hope it wasn't Covid or something horrible like that.
that thought had crossed my mind as well, ru
people just don't seem to realize that covid has not gone away - it is still very dangerous. When I see all the large crowds gathering at various events (Macy's parade being one of them) I shudder.
true.. and sporting events.. although they're requiring vaccination cards here. I liked him...he was a funny guy and seemed to be a really nice guy.
Very sad to read about Torgone. He seemed like a fun guy.
Just the thought of flying anywhere is frightening -- those planes are just an big incubator for disease
I normally fly a lot for work, but haven't flown in two years now
although I'm planning to come to BC in July of next year.
Our son has to fly to Whitehorse next week for work -- really worries me as the north has one of the lowest percentages for vaccinations.
to the island Ru?
yes.. going to Tofino and Qualicum for vacation
That area is supposed to be hit by another round of storms next week.
i know.. it's been awful there.. the Malahat (sp?) is a disaster zone
All this heavy rain following a summer of huge forest fires is a real disaster.
I'll bet.. that's a recipe for all kinds of trouble
The entire province is affected. Not here so much other than we only have one highway open to the coast right now and the stores are very low on supplies. Meat was limited to one item per customer yesterday and there is a possibility that the highway will be closed again if there is more flooding around Abbotsford next week -- no telling how well those temporary dikes will hold.
yikes nan.. i hope things settle down for all of you
I have to get on with my day.. no holiday for me today happy FRIDAY all
The army has helicoptered all kinds of heavy equipment in -- they are working around the clock to try and rebuild dikes and highways, but it is a formiddable job. In some areas huge sections of the highway have washed away and a few bridges have been lost.
bye Ru
That sounds awful, nan. Climate change is to blame for a lot of this unusual weather.
I think so too, vash
ko 6-7 please?
the 7 has all the esses. it's a plant. I did not know the word. (I hope this makes up for my lack of clues last night before you slept!)
ty monkeyed it
new word for me as well
a few non words as well
God Nan, as if you don't have enough to deal with. Whoever said God doesn't give us more than we can handle is a big, fat liar.
I have a couple of fridges and a small chest freezer that I usually keep preey well stocked, so this didn't catch me empty handed.
The price of groceries has skyrocketed though - despite the gov't warnings against price gouging
Gas has skyrocketed as well because one of the pipelines had to be shut down.
Again, way too much to deal with. Here's to better days.
*!*~*!* Another grid I could not have completed without lickety and clues. Hagd everyone and stay safe :)
I was very surprised about Torgone. He was last posted on Facebook Nov 7 and I had been wondering what was going on with him, since he normally posted every day. He was a very nice man.
It's so very sad. Do you know what happened with him, origami?
No, I don't know.
What happened to Torgone? Did he pass away?
Yes, he did.
OMG, so sorry to hear about that. He was a frequent chatter years ago and I talked with him often. So sad.
Tom has such a dry humor, I loved that. And yet he was awfully kind too.
Please let me know if anyone finds out what happened. Still trying to find out about Haz and Milfan.
Haz too?
Haz stopped playing abruptly which is not like her.
Oh, yes, I see.
There are people here who used to communicate with Haz outside of Babble. Not sure if they still do.
I think with MLFan it might be an internet connection issue.
Oh no re: Torgone. He was a joy to have in the chat.
I like your candle and profile message, molly. sorry to hear about torgone.
torgone?!?!
good golly
Thanks, Carla. Sad to lose a long-time player that so many people liked.
Torgone was always funny and a gentleman. I am sad for his passing too. Thank you to whoever first found out and notified the group.
SHAKED
de6/24 please hi all
I was sorry to hear about Torgone too. He was a nice, funny man
Torgone could be said to have de6.24ed this mortal coil. Another dear soul to leave us.
ty lyn
I wonder if facebookers know more about Tom; maybe his kids posted something. I left fb a while ago, so... Would like to know how it was for him, he felt like a friend if only in the limited online way.
mab - his kids just posted a FB message that he had passed on Monday. He was still active on FB on Nov 7 but then no more posts.
origami are you still playing words with friends?
Thanks origami. He was not very old, which is part of the shock I guess. I'd hoped he would come back here.
how old was he?
around 64, i think
Sometimes when people don't post about how someone died it is because they would rather keep it private.
very true Molly
it is my last day in this apartment and I am ambivalent about moving downstairs. I am used to living by myself.
12 left here.
Who knows, peri? It might be nice to have someone to chat with sometimes. I hope it goes well for you.
I have know her over 40 years. We were roomates many many years ago.
I like my privacy too but it can be nice to have someone handy to share a laugh or two. It is giving up your independence that sucks.
I want my own bathroom!!!
Such a good point.
Correct ML. I posted very briefly the deaths of my father and sister. But there is no harm in asking others what may have posted re a mutual friend.
peri - I was taking a FB break, but went back in today and played :D
I did see that you played today :) right after I asked the question here
tr6/24 please
I will continue to look for another apartment. since my name will not be on the lease I can leave at any time
Why are you moving, peri?
I was planning on moving since I live on the 2nd floor and the steps are steep. Also no laundry facilities.
but no apartment available where I want to go. So I am grateful that I can move downstairs for a while
I will access to the basement with a washer and dryer in the new apt
will have access
grateful but not happy
this will be the last time that I move. it is unsettling to say the least to move
last time once I get my own place again
tr6/24 pls. my last word
found it on morewords
Access to the laundry is important!
Hi all. Hints for the 8s and 7 please.
Ty
You might be out of luck mkg
