enable has never heard of prenups
it's the grid! we can't help pointing out the obvious
Diz started it
Clues are up
I'm waiting for her to come up with another
thanks, Lickety - as ever
thanks, lickety
well one can get some ac 6 with pe 5....thats the last LOL
Can ur 5 come out of a pu 6 er 8 ?
Oh, just found er8. lol
dunno, I'm a female
Believe it or not, I was rather normal before you got me going
this is the type of knowledge we men keep under wr5 (as we should with the pe5 to begin with)
Why isn'r prenup a word? Marriages have to be preceded by those all the time these days, so the internet would have you believe.
LOL justafreep!
freep!
struggling with the o's
slang for prenuptial agreement -- probably not recognized the last time enable was updated
I've found an ou5 babblet and an or6 (from the bottom right one) that is also babble familiar
cybernan - I guess you're right.
thx freep, found em both
65 to go now for me.
ty freep

I'm fading, be back tomorrow - happy babbling!
night, mich
Just found pe4 - small blue flower or Babbler's name.
sp5/14 - what a would-be over who doesn't fancy you might do to you.
re8/40 - a family member.
have the sp 5/14, but no idea what a would-be over is
el7/28 - a feeling of euphoria.
Sorry cyber, that should have reaad would be lover.
Sticky keyboard and still blurry eyesight AGAIN. Sorry!
ir6.18 - someone who smooths fabric.
calling it a night - see you tomorrow
Just tried un in front of er5.12 for a floppy one but it didn't work. lol Did find another un5 (5.20) that might see you slightly bonkers, though. ;)
Night cybernan. I'm going off for now with 54 to go, too. x
Morning all. Has anyone stats, please, for the either O?
(the corner one and the one in the middle of the fourth row)
corner one always reminds me of 50s singer Roy O

what is wrong with "acai", as in acai berry? hi all
hi Aloy
hi lynxxx.. is that your dog? looks like it could run like the wind.
He won $70 during his racing career!
wow ! What is his name? He looks sweet and a bit shy in the pic.
Racing name was Hurricane Patch - just Patch to us.
How long have you had him?
He is sweet and a bit of a ratbag - likes screaming around the small backyard or around the house when the mood takes him. :Like most greyhounds I have met they tend to be a bit wary until they know you. Had him 3 years now - he is 7
aww, am happy you adopted him.
Patch is Beautiful as always, Lynxxx
Hi. A close friend who has 2 whippets has just got her first Iggy! I say first as I wouldn't mind betting she gets another.
Gotta have 2 or more - then they lay on each other, rather than you all day
hi all, diving in
Bye all
bye, lynxxx
Anyone still here?
Good morning, Scrabbs
Hi Aloy. How are you doing?
okie dokie.. are you in a winter wonderland?
Big storm will start at about 7pm and continue until Fri morning. 9-15 inches, but the location of the heaviest snow depends on how the snowband lines up over the lake.
We need the snow for the ski resorts, and I want to CX ski and snowshoe.
yes.. lake effect snow. Do you have a bunny pen so they can go out in it and hop around?
Oh, no, a raptor would swoop down and take them to eat.
ooh, yes. Too risky.
I don't like this grid.
well, it made me laugh to see that both pe5 and er8 are in the same grid.
just finished.. need any hints before I scoot?
TY for 3 words
No, thanks, I soon need to get ready for work.
yvw.. stay warm and safe and have a great day!
Enjoy your day.
Surely a kitten is a precat? ;)

hi all
hi je
hello
has dc recovered yet?
How often do we get pe5 and er8 in the same grid?
it's a blessed day, molly
never, I think
until today
the side streets still need attention
Min could write a very racy story of clues
yeah.. and they don't usually stick out as much either
I knew you would poke in here about that
You usually rise to the occasion
ah I was working off the wrong E. Now I am on top of things.
some people must have stiffened when they saw them
What has aroused you all?
I'm not sure punning this early rubs people the wrong way
Oy gvalt
I'm sure it's hard on them Ru
some people are more open to it than others Molls
True and others are more rigid
it's definitely a hardship
I'm sure some of those people are stuck up
This really is a ... personal anatomy grid. Not only the er and the pe, but also it can be a pain in the re6 area
then they should see a doctor
Butt they might not want to
They will get to the bottom of it I am sure.
depends on what is stuck where, honestly
that's a cheeky comment zooz
Sorry I will stop being a pain in the ass!
naw it's ok to spread them around
ty for the clue matty. . . I got it in the end
not to change the subject but this is a tough grid again
I am not enjoying it either.
No matter how often I try. Renew will not take.
under the circumstances I was mildly surprised to find pu 4/6
I think we are going for a record of most blurted clues ever today.
this group has a lot of sp5,14 today
clue for si7 please?
Al Capone, the whole dang name.
I think it is a red colour used in the middle ages.
hahaha thanks for sharing that rasta.
si7 is an auditorium for sinners
A reddish brown pigment used in the middle ages.
or a conference for sinners :D
two clues is ochre the top there zooz
haha!
ap 6/24, pls
hello...stats for either O pls
OR 6/18
thanks for the clues
name that Shakespeare character in the grid
I have 69 words left to find.
ty zooz
She had to slip that 69 in there
it's all about positioning molly
AP 6 has to do with phonetic sounds.
Time for a cup of tea and some biscuits.
si7, please?
just clued below freeman
Just clued a while ago
ap 6/24, pls
ru7/36?
ap, vowel, short name for western state
Sorry I did not get those cloes for si7. Any chance for another clue, please?
RU 7 a quarrel or row
ty phae
yw bichon
I still try inuit and always annoyed it is not allowed.
si7 crime against God + the country of Ethi_____ is in east Africa
ty Molly
ty molls
Thanks got it
Never heard of that ru7, must be a Brit word
ty zooz
raia
sorry
the inequities of Enable since it allows ce4/5 another people.
ty phae
Exactly, Jmc.
yw jmc
ce4 isn't allowed because it's a people. It's allowed because it also has a non-proper meaning, just like cu5, al4, and plenty of other words.
Ah! Thank you, Vicuna.
I am unaware of the non-proper meaning Vicuna
Yeah, I didn't know it either, but I looked it up.
sorry when I looked it up only came up with the proper meaning. . . .but that would make sense
That is a good thing about babble. We are always learning.
but the ? reveals all!
hello zooz
Oh, apparently it's some sort of stone ax.
ty Vicuna. Always willing to learn.
Hello, T Owl â¤ï¸
All those words that seem strange and unknown to me are perfectly good words to a chemist or an archaeologist or a phonetician or whatever. Just like yesterday's or8 that Molly and Hokie thought was so obscure was a perfectly normal word to anyone who's familiar with classical music.
the words i like best for finding in babble are words like that or8 - ones that i definitely know but that don't turn up often
I learned several new anthropology words proofing my boy's thesis yesterday. That is one of the things I like about Babbleland
and the broad spectrum of people and knowledge in the group. . .
does anyone have that pr8?
And then when I do run into a Babblet in the wild I am so excited that I recognize it!
exactly Vic!
It also means I crush my older and better read sister when we play Boggle together! hahahaha (no sibling rivalry or anything)
To do with the church rank, Ruru. Like a cardinal, bishop etc
Ah, thanks, zooz. I was trying to work from the wrong P.
Ends with the word for facial spasm.
Welcome, Vicuna.
ty zooz
hi vi
Hello, TO!
thank you zooz.. i got tired of the hail maries on that one
i am conducting an experiment in housekeeping today. post holiday heavy cleaning.
Tx for the pr8!
I'm just done with a first pass, and off to do a stint of housework. But *heavy* cleaning does not sound appealing at all! lol
kitchen was heavily used for baking
well, needs done. and i am awaiting the thaw to go out for errands.
my goal is to have things clean enough to hire cleaners.:)
got to get ready for work.. have fun with the grid everyone
Toodle pip, Ruru!
wow, 2nd time in 3(?) days we have kid's piano concert
and isn't a kitty precat?
it should be
And the tally goes up for most blurting in one day
Blurting what, exactly?
words frequently repeat over a few days. Seems to be related to the not completely random choice of letters in the grid
phantom: precious
How are they "not completely random"?
the fact that words repeat over a few days means to me that they are not completely random
but they are... it's just a coincidence
then seems to me that it would be rare to see words repeated over a few days whereas I have noticed that frequently over the years. . .of course, you may be right that it is a coincidence. . .
it's kind of like that weird thing about how, if you have a room full of like 25 people, you wouldn't think you'd necessarily have people that share the same birthday, and yet, the odds of that are higher than you'd think, or something
and, of course, it is human nature to see patterns
yep
good morning everyone :)
"The birthday paradox, also known as the birthday problem, states that in a random group of 23 people, there is about a 50 percent chance that two people have the same birthday"
there's really interesting stuff out there about the phenomenon of people seeing significance in things that actually occurred without any meaning behind them. i can find a link to an article on that topic if anyone is interested
good morning, Nan
I would be interested hursh and I know about the birthday paradox. . . but that is a static group rather than the pattern exhibiting in an ever changing group
my theory is probably debunked by the penny flipping rule: there is always a 50/50 chance of heads no matter how many times the coin is flipped.
this is a good article. the phenomenon mentioned in it is called apophenia so you can also look up other things about that word. https://tinyurl.com/mryjajpp
ta hursh. as I said earlier I love how much I learn in Babbleland. I was aware of the phenomenon but not its name so that will help me read more, thanks
The birthday paradox is interesting because in my entire life I have only met one person who shares my birth date (Day/Month) and no one who shares my exact birthday.
yeah that's the thing - the odds are not bad that some pair of people will share a birthday, but the odds that it will be YOU (or any particular person) are much l ower
I don't usually know the birth date of people I meet
one of our friends shares the same birthday as our younger son and the couples also share the same wedding date.
I do know that my aunt, Richard Nixon and my friend I have know the longest all share the same birthday
*known
I wonder what the probability of that is
I went many years without knowing anyone with mine, then a guy I worked with had it, though a year older. then my cousin married a girl with the same exact birthday, and yes we were born in the same hospital. I know there is an actress same day and year as me, and oddly she also has celiac disease.

It means I will never forget my friend's birthday. . . .hahaha
so weird there. I refreshed before hitting enter again thank goodness or it would've been 3x posted
it was worth reading twice. . . .hahaha
One of my favourite fun with probability is the Monty Hall problem. For those who don't know, it goes like this: The game is Let's Make a Deal. Monty Hall, our host, presents you (and you are no doubt dressed like a camel or something) with three doors. Behind two of the doors is a goat, behind the third is a brand new car (let's assume you don't want a goat). Monty KNOWS where the car is (this is important). You choose a door. Monty then opens a different door, behind which is a goat. You are given the opportunity to swap doors at this point. Should you?
I've noticed when I listen to true crime podcasts how often they say something happened on my birthday. I was thinking about that recently. do they say other dates too and I just don't notice because they aren't my birthday?
good point hokie
also, my son's birthday is Sept. and this year he said he heard someone outside his dorm room telling someone else happy birthday. he said his birthday is like the most common in the US, so I googled and sure enough it was first or second. I think 9 of the top 10 most common are Sept. so if any of you are Sept, odds are you will know someone else with your birthday.
matty, I have heard that and do not remember how it works.
matty you picked the door you have when it had a one in three chance and now the other door has a 50/50 chance. . .
Yes, exactly, JMC! More later - on a call
well lots of people got lucky in January every year. . . haha
you should switch doors :)
both of my boys were born in Sept 😜
personally I think you should stand pat. . . if you have the car, Monty would have opened the door without the goat. . . to make it more suspenseful. . .the odds are not the only factor here. If they were, then you should switch.
but the people who write these things only deal with the odds and the only reason they mention he knows whats behind each door is to make it clear that he knew he was opening the door with the goat.
bbl
Okay, go read about the Monty Hall problem on Wikipedia and see if it doesn't make your brain explode.
Well, I guess we know what you all were doing in January.
you think that's bad, what about the latest quantum stuff - particles behave differently if they are observed.
I knew it! A watched pot DOES boil.
does paint dry slower?
phantom opiate
ru 7/36, pls
I think charlie daniels was a ro5er
definitely fire flew from the devil's fingertips when he did it
well, no HOET for me after first pass. still no middle O and only 2 N. only 1 7, and not the one bichon is looking for.
You should always switch doors. If you do, 66% of the time you'll win the car.
The true secret to happiness is to like goats as much as cars.
The devil was a ro5er. Charlie Daniels just sang about him.
Bichon, if you have the belching er5, you’re on the right track for the ru7/36
hello again
ru 7/36: if you replaced the r with an a you would be bidding on something
thanks nan
yw hokie - your turn is coming - 5 left and stuck

Hi all. Carla I'm sorry you're feeling bad again just when you thought it was over.
hi joy...
Also, I know grids are totally random, but I think the computer program that makes grids is male and just visited the doctor or maybe indulged in another activity.
Hi pen! How's the weather in Maine?
warm today....45....was about 20 yesterday....weird....
warm? When it's 45 here everyone freaks out and turns up the heat.
yes, warm, lol....

I do not like this grid today. I do not like it much, I say. I do not like it in a box. I do not like it with a fox.
or an ox...
well it took me too long to think of said U word but I did, thx
i would not eat it with some lox, i would not play it without socks, i do not like it more than rocks
or flocks...
I just knew it wasn't sinucat - when your sinuses are messed up due to felines
at least it's better than having chicken pox
how about skittles pox?
heh heh...
I have betty whiteous; watched betty-jimmy fallon video until 5 am
whiteious?
you are making me yawn....
Whiteitis

Hurshy is fond of blurting
my pediatrician is here and he's a word.
taking a break....bbl to find my last 50....bye all....
has everyone heard about the plan for people to donate to local animal rescues on Jan 17 in honor of what would have been Betty White's 100th birthday?
it's circling the interwebs
i wonder if anyone knows how Howie is doing. I forget his last name, but he's on fb and i'm pretty sure he used to play here.
He was so crazy for betty. so crazy.
howie corwin is still sick with covid it appears
he is still posting on fb
sorry. . . covid is not confirmed
sweet guy. he came over to my house once a long time ago and I practiced my ASL but mainly we wrote notes

he just posted he was feeling ill. . . seems to be a new bout
lots of difficult things he's been through. was hoping might be better, but pandemic...
he has had it tough
bet he's an very good teacher. I studied asl years ago. none has stuck with me. I wanted to do his online class but couldn't quite afford it then.
I wasn't aware he taught ASL on line
not sure it got too far off the ground, but i could be wrong.
too bad. now would be a good time to launch something like that
oh yes. i worry about him. even if I can't remember his name.
He is cosdem on Babble :-)
:)
oh right! thanks for that. totally forgot.

william after my disastrous haircut: you look so beautiful. me: what? what? i'm hideous! william: oh. well...
the youngest is wise beyond his years, has been his whole life.
when he was like 8 he played flag football and on the way home from a game he said "I don't know why all the parents are always yelling...it's not like we're getting paid millions of dollars."
how old?
he is 19 now
when he first started talking he would say things that made me believe in reincarnation. just so odd and things a 2 yo wouldn't know. I wish I'd written some down but of course I didn't.
clue for the re 7 please
I have one that is a piano concert like kids do

-hantom = precious
were you saying the ap6 ends at the top? is it a regular word?
ca not very normal
i don't remember ever seeing ca 8 before...

ap 6 is not a regular word but it is logically phonetic...
if I was hurshy I'd say, oh there it is.
but related to a normal word.
yes, but not a word normally used in conversation...
think I will just look for the 4s and then list
