In yesterday's puzzle the word 'anergies' was in it. I've never seen this word before, so I tried looking up the definition, and could not find one anywhere. Does anyone know what it means? I was thinking it is along the lines of opposite of energy, 'a' meaning no/not at the beginning of a word. Any information would be most appreciated. Thanks.

It has two meanings here: http://www.onelook.com/?w=anergy&ls=a noun: inactivity and lack of energy noun: reduction or lack of an immune response to a specific antigen One of the difficulties with the online dictionaries is that they sometimes tell you the word doesn't exist if you look up the plural. So "anergies" is not listed at www.dictionary.com, but "anergy" is.
