It's a shame we don't have carnal to go with all the other sexual words in the grid.
I guess I'm missing all the sexual words
😮
are there any dh words today?
Four
good afternoon, babblers. So close to carnival1
hello sprite
FOUR, ack
hiya ru! *hug*
hiya hursh and Molly
hi sprite, sorry i can't greet you more cheerfully, but i just found out there are 4 dh words
I understand your pain, hursh. I feel fully greeted.
i got two of them
I've found words that can be sexualized, but aren't necessarily sexual
All that drama and they will be found and over with in another two minutes
still, two full minutes of agony
Sexualized? Is that like weaponized (the new "everyone on the internet uses it" word)?
yes, and both are in common use
in academic circles at least, people always use those sorts of verbs
phantom: honor
got them
too true, honor is a phantom nowadays
you got all four??
yep
you're so good
*preens* why thank you! Now for the 270 words left, lol
She usually finishes grids in like fifteen minutes.

miniac: very small raving idiot
snoriac: crazed one who snores
:D
snoring turns me into a maniac
yeah, my dad's is so loud even from down the hall, it was rough
manaloric: the state of turning into a lounge singer crooning "I can't smile without you"
I play Wordscapes on my phone. So much learned from Babble is not even valid there :D
lol harry
lol Harry, may I add that one to our dictionary?
well it's not perfect - it should be maniloric
ah well, I will cheat that one letter then

bad Harold. Hiya Bea and Une!
Hello, sprite
anyone know the other 9 besides ma9?
i peeked...it's or 9....
mk thanks
that'll be upper O
yw...
yup...
It is okay to "peek" Pen. I don't know why people won't look at the list but they will ask questions in chat all day.
i didn't mind looking....sometimes do just to see the stats for longer words....
because it used to be that we didn't have a list until much longer after the flip, and we considered working together and helping each other different from looking at a computer generated list
one is all human effort, the other is not
I am with hursh
everyone plays the way he or she wants....that's one of the things that is nice about this game...
But if your answers are coming from people who looked at the list, I wouldn't call that "human effort"
right but when the list didn't come out so soon, then, that couldn't be the case
yes, as long as it doesn't take away too much fun for the other players. Not everybody wants tons of clues.
apparently sprite hasn't met MKG or Freeman :D
and then now that it comes out so fast, well, some of us tried saying "only people who don't have the list answer me, please" but it was coming across rude or whatever
Lately, the chat is chock full of clues.
and not everyone has to look at the chat....
I did...
the chat is al4 for socializing though
My favorite feature Pen. You can just close down the chat when it gets too "informative"
well to some people....
mkg does wear on ones nerves at times.
It is one thing to ask for a few clues. It is another to ask for clues for "all the long words"
lol indeed!
i have closed chat at times....and sometimes i don't care about what is being clued....
name that proper noun! actor brando
I try to time my playing so that it doesn't coincide with overcluers. Have had to change times quite a few times through the years
marlon
ding ding ding!!!
Overcluers, I like that. Overcluers and blurters are what make me turn off the chat.
same here...
amen
howdy Babblers.. good to see you Sprite.. will try not to blurt, Molly, lol
hiya Aloy, great to see you!
hi aloy...
enjoying this grid, hope you all are too
I have a story for you all. We live in a home built in 1890 by a farming family. They had three children. The oldest was Miss Carrie. She never married and lived in the house until she had to be put in a care home late in her 80's.
it's a bit odd, but so far it's ok....
absolutely. Even though that Q is still pretending to have only one word from it
the scqualor of it all
sprite...did you get the grain from that Q?
i made up one and got two more words out of that q....
found some more from the Q bc of the grain
that's interesting bea is ms carrie still hanging around now?
don't think so, no. Thanks for the pointer
awesome, got that combo!
i have all the qs if you need help
then change the ending for two more
our house is circa 1861 and over the years we have had a number of people stop by that lived here .. we should write a book of tales the house could tell
yes, got those....
We have had some interesting experiences in the house. Miss Carrie did have a beau after her parents were gone. They would sit in the kitchen and she would drink and he would smoke a pipe. Yesterday, I could smell this sweet prefume all day. Kept trying to figure out where it was coming from because smells like that can set off my mom's asthma. She couldn't smell it.
Qs quonquerred. Thanks phae and ru
spooky, bea....
yw sprite
h'mm, am still missing one Q
In the early evening I began to smell smoke. Pipe tobacco smoke. I asked Larry if he could smell it. Nope.

phantom: calamari
My favorite is Tony Romo.

he seems to love the game...
yvw Aloy
he was a decent quarterback, but not a great one. he is pretty good on TV

Lone c is an easy 4 letter word
the c is the one lots of people miss all the time

It was almost soup weather last night.
It's going to be 107 here today.
Yikes.

It was a nice 60 at sunrise this mornintg - didn't last long!
I was thinking of starting some fall/winter vegetable seeds ... wishful thinking.
I am not seeing that im5
ends in a vowel ....
Think acid Peri
if it started with an A you would know it as an acid...

hi mool
hey nan, happy Tuesday, hope your day is going well
so far - and you?
feeling a bit tired...it's a rainy day, so would love to just go back to bed :)
sorry the weather isn't more conducive to getting out there.
does anyone have a clue for the co 8's?
only have one 8 so far
149 still to go
nm, found one...
have 4 8's but 157 to go
it's o8/60 which might give you a sense
146 here!
three 8s now :)
o 8/660? or co 8/60?
60
beginning with o or with co?
co yes
Nan it ends with a word for the sinus passage
I'm sorry. it is the or8 that ends like that.
ty bea - didn't have those either
I'm sure that there were at least 2 co 8's called last night, but I can't find them
yeah, the one I found sounds spanish
One uses the 5 point tile.
The other is a compound word for a commentator.
usually I am good at finding Q words but I'm not
Thanks for those co 8s Bea
found the commentator, ty but not the spanish one with the the tile that I figured had to be there for a count of 60
Same here!!
monkeyed it -- the spanish ending clue helped
\quino
sorry
not a word
have not found the or8/9 even with clues
une think of the french dish using clams: _______ St. Jaques. co 8/50 is similar
8/60
I am not Une but thanks nan
is there a co9?
yes
plural of the co8
for the co7/8 the 8 is a plural
the other co8 cannot be pluralized
no co 9's. The 9's are ma and or (plural of the or 8)
French. Dish is coquilles.....
I'm confused. Sorry. I was looking at the or
tx nan
ok ty
This grid is kicking my butt :-(
breakfast break, then coffee hour with the ladies in our little walled city. bbl
it is a tough one
I am so glad to see more C words--NOT
100 to go, might take a break
135 to go....
Walled city?
What? No Narnia? LOL
Finally got the q's......125 to go
I swear, Narnia gets mentioned every single time it is in the grid.
hello...can I get a clue for the ca7/36 please
full auto
What you count (for intake) when dieting
With a different last letter
Tere are two
Done. See you next time.
There should be some kind of extra points for a word that spells backward and forward in these grids. It happens so infrequently. (so 5/10)
yeah...sorry - need the second ca7/36
got it!
Well, both were clued
rehi
rerehi
hey nan
Molly - I live in a gated community
Oh, fancy
not really
it is a 55+ community of 100 bungalo's and a clubhouse. Largest house is around 1800 sq. ft.
ca 6/30 following the oily grain, please?
nm - found it
dh 6 please?
No Carla all day? That must be some kind of record.
ma 8/50 please?
i have one that is a pl...
need both
no - have the plural one
the one i have is like a lawman.....alt spelling...
the one I'm looking for is imediately before the planet
have that one, ty pen
i will look...
It ends with Abel's brother
ty, champ....
a fabric...who knew?...
ty champ
I was so annoyed I didn't even look. ;)
off for lunch -- 71 to go
88 here...
back again -- just love this time of year when all the farm-gate produce is available :)
yes..it's nice...
had a beefstake (vine ripened) tomato for lunch -- the slab of tomatoe was as big as the slice of bread, with tree-ripened peaches and ice-cream for dessert. Yum
nice....i am going to make a tomato pie this week...
have never had that -- baked tomatoes?
well first you salt slices of tomato and let them sit an hour....you make a piecrust....put a little mustard of your choice on the bottom of the piecrust when it's cool enough(not much)....lay down slices of swiss cheese over the bottom and sides....put your slices on top....add garlic and a little olive oil (not much of the oil) and put some basil leaves on top....bake in the oven...takes about 40 min....
the tomatoes go on top of the cheese...
sounds very rich but tasty.
YUM! ty @ penquis
you can use lower calorie swish cheese or get some that is extra thin...
yw...
there is not much olive oil at all....the pie has to sit for five min. when it is done....if you see liquid after that, you put too much olive oil...
it's not that rich tasting...just yummy....
you can also put slices of black olives on it....i don't...
it cooks 40 min. in a preheated oven (350 degrees)...
the crust is cooked BEFORE you put the stuff in it...
I would skip the mustard (not to my taste)
Will have to wait until I have company to try it -- can't eat a whole pie by myself.
it reheats pretty well....i use a sweet mustard usually and brush it on the bottom...i use very little....but you can skip it...
it's nice for a brunch or light lunch with a salad....
you don't like mustard? wow another one
i do...
who else, ru?
origami hates mustard
she's hopeless :D
lol -- we will get along just fine then next summer :)
Had a terrible time finding food that didn't have mustard on it when we were in Lorraine
i put mustard on a lot of things over here.. ori and I had a battle in the kitchen when I was making a salad dressing from Scratch with some dried Mustard.. you'd have thought I was adding rat poison
not far off, ru :)
I use hellman's olive oil mayo, becays I can taste the mustard in the regular stuff
*because (fingers want to do creative spelling today)
when i was a young chld, i used to bring mustard and butter sandwiches for lunch at school sometimes...
through the list and still 13 left
a lot of plural adjectives today
i listed a few minutes ago....still 54 left...
had to skip that dh 6...
hi nan and ru, just dropped in to say hello. what a weird grid today. Learned a few new words that's for sure. MUSTARD?
hi caani...
sorry....saani....
yes, mustard...
i was talking about ori swatting my hand while I was cooking in Qualicum
an 6-7 combo please?
hi saanich
i skipped those... :oP
an 6/7: an plus what you do to shoes to tie them up
ty saanich
ty...
you are welcome. I like mustard.

my wrist is now permanently injured :D
Love mustard!
ooooooooooh crocodile tears for ru
hahahaha
*note to self... ignore nan's pleas for clues*
lol
all 6 of my remaining words are 6's and 7's and I AM clueless
literally... ;o)
got that right :D
dh 6-7, es 7, qu 6-7 (2nd set), 2nd sc 6
when it comes to finishing this grid, at any rate.
dh 6/7 is impossible to clue. It has a very interesting meaning though. Here goes a try: take the da 4/5, the mild expletive. Add an h to the beginning. Then add the first letter of the alphabet and then pl. Good luck!
first letter goes at the end
got it...ty...
wow I am amazed with that awful clue. way to go!
ty saanich
and the es 7?
it's like E + a serious student minus the third letter....
its a snake mackerel species and is mentioned in an entry in google under that name
peng did a good job onthat one!
ooh. a valley-of-the-dolls drug is in the grid today...
pardon, penq.
penq
ty pen
yw...
ty, saani...
qu and sc left -- I thought I was doing well to find the grain, only to discover a 2nd set
ah -- monkeyed the qu's
are you missing qu6/7 combo?....the last one?
the q 6/7: take the healthy grain and leave off the last letter. Put in a consonant instead and then pl
have it how, ty pen
good monkey nan!
bye until tomorrow
bye saani...
just need the sc following what surgery leaves behind
bye saanich
don't have that one...
i need to eat....bbl for my last 30....bye all....
i'm not seeing the HA 7/8 combo
ha7 rhymes with the deepest trench in the ocean
thanks.. got it
will have to leave the sc 6/21 -- not in the word list
rerehi
sc6/21 type of rock
specifically a type of lava rock
Is it my imagination or is this grid really difficult?
it's difficult for me too
62 left
I found just 91 this morning.
50 to go...
Go Moo, go.
yeah, very slowly :)
11-12-10-8-5-1
I want to pass halfway so I need 34.

ha7 please, tough grid for me even with list
you know that really deep trench in the pacific ocean? If you do, rhymes with that
I do not know it but will google it
alternatively.... WW1 double agent (last name) plus a character in frozen :)
it is the first ha7 that I need. I have the h a7/8
oh

Nothing is easy with this grid, except the first 100 or so.
HOET...finally
Keep going. You're doing great.
34 left now
9-8-6-6-4-1

phantom minivan
finished off the Vs, oy
it's a hot one here today.. broke 111
that's HOT....we made it to 79...
probably hotter yet over ori's way
way too hot for me...i don't even do air conditioning...
85 here in Calgary right now, and we've had similar temperatures for a few weeks now
we have also had a hotter than usual summer and not nearly enough rain....i am lucky because my section of the state usually has the cooler temps in the summer and the warmer temps in the winter...
Pen. you don't have air conditioning?
nope....i have a floor fan but I haven't used it all summer....i do have a very small (maybe six in. diameter) that I use near where i sit.... it's not on now...
it's only 70 out right now...
can someone please clue the co 7/44?
a small clam, uses high point tile
ty, peri...
yw
100 to go, you guys were right, what a slog

can someone please clue the ha 7?
laughing sound + vowel + short woman's name
ty...will work on it...
Dictionary.com says it's an alternate spelling of a state in NW India
Merrian-Webster says it's an Indian breed of cattle

it's my fault...i didn't specify....
Oh - sorry
Past of have + vowel + edge
It's Yiddish
ty...got it...
hello again -- does anyone have the 2nd sc 6-21? my monkeys quit and it is my last word!
yw
it's one of my 4 missing words...

rhymes with ocean's deepest trench
ty, found it....missing three other words...

sc 6/21 please?
i sort of clued it....it ends in two vowels...
oh sorry - thought you were clueing the ha 7
ty pen -- Done:)
i am missing two words...
I have 10 min -- what do you need?

ra 8 sounds like what you shave with + what is held in a courtroom tr***
ra - most of painful + vowel and ends with mr. gore
gotta run -- have agood eveining everyone
ok, thanks!
Looks like it relates to a shaving implement
got it...ty for the help...i am done...
