Kieran's school doesn't do anything halloween-related during the school day. they had a trunk or treat after school this past friday. (in our area, it's up to the specific school)
but we're going trick or treating as soon as they get out, we always go in their grandparents' neighborhood

they did halloween themed cratfs in school last friday
so, there was a big pickleball tournament here this weekend, and I ran into my elem. school PE teacher. I recognized her but she did know me when I told her my name because she remembered my brother's name too.

but she was saying she thinks about the stuff we did in gym class and wonders how we're all still alive

FTR, 1987 was the last year I was in elem. and my brother is 4 years older. she has a good memory! it was a small school, only 2 classes in each grade.

lol, we didn't even mention dodgeball. I said like climbing the rope all the way to the top of the rafters? she was thinking those "scooters" that you sit on and we'd have our friends pull us with a rope and try to sling us off.

lol, so true. we did not have a trampoline, but one of my friends that lived near school did and I remember walking to her house as a class and jumping on her trampoline.

yeah, I bought my youngest a t-shirt when he was little that had a stick figure falling and said "I do all my own stunts". that about sums it up.

We played a lot of games that caused injury. I remember people getting hurt playing Red Rover all the time.

it's funny because a lot of the things you don't see in american playgrounds anymore are still around in Italy
so my kids always have a moment of uncertainty

we had 2 metal slides, and one was pretty high. I had a friend that broke an arm twice falling off the big slide somehow.

I am surprised to hear that playgrounds still have sandboxes. They are supposed to be hotbeds of infection.

Oh I totally loved the sandbox when I was a kid. It's a wonder I never got any of the skeevy diseases they warn about.

Totally agree Scrabs. Unfortunately DIL is a germaphob (sp?) about so many things but won't get kids vaccinated against Covid.
oh mine see plenty of germs and get all their vaccines :)
#1 mitigation = N95 mask when indoors. Our children are endangered at schools and day cares because of no mask mandate and poor ventilation/filtration.
