Clues are up
thanks, lickety
(I am convinced there are some big compound words in this grid. But I haven't found 'em)
you are probably one ahead of me -- haven't found that pe 7 yet
oh - there it is!
en 8
ne 9...compound...nbt/nbs
I feel justified. I wish it was a word I knew (first I tried one that would describe my vegetable drawer on a Sunday....)
ty freep --- nbt, nbs
oh no - I do have a bt
don't thank me. I merely had a concept!
Does the en8 come from the left column?
no
yes
Huh. Mine did. Maybe there are two?
So that will be two birds with one stone when I find it
it was for me
sorry - eyes playing trick on me -- don't have the en 8 -- instead of en I saw ne
my Es are done, only 1 8
thanks
that remains my bt
it's not a common word. it was my last bt, too
not getting anywhere with it
Found it with MoreWords
many, many vowels
lots of vowels
pr8 x 2
thanks for those (in theory!)
I've found one - are they related?
Found the other, somehow - not related
no gillie they are not.
ty
hmm - just found one of them also
hey m9. all went well today.
good to hear, grannyrose!
thanx freep. rather a lovely youngish doc. (anyone under 60 is youngish )
looked up that en 8 -- never would have found that - don't even know how anyone would clue it
Hi rose!! Oh that's great!
I just checked my email and didn't see anything, so I'm glad to catch you here!
yup. all booked in for my next Rx in Feb, plus he is going to put a porta cath. in at the same admission.
sorry m9. will write back. have been out for most of the day.
Wow! That should make pain management easier, yes?
Oh no worries!!
absolutely yes. no more nurses diiging through my arms trying to find a big enough vein.
*digging*... lol.
Yes. My friend's daughter had one and that was MUCH better for her.
plus i will have easy access if ever i have another cardiac event. not planning on one any time soon.
Yeah.. probably a good idea ;)
fw - without listing! Ty all cluers
well done, Gillie!
ty - good night, all

hello all
hoping this grid is nicer than yesterday's
Hi aslindy.
morning. I hope you slept better
I don't like this grid. Yes, I didn't even wake up until my alarm went off. I was tired.
just got here too, good morning
Hi IG.
phantom finance
Yes, there it is.
50 left and I must get ready for work. Enjoy the day.
you too!
just missing that lone E for nbt...not a very fun grid at all
found an 8!
32 for later - bye all!
morning all
morning kiani
how are things this morning?
foggy
as in, driving took much longer than normal to get to work
you?
woke up with a headache from sleeping on the recliner, but much better now
glad you're finally starting to feel better!
I might actually be able to sleep in the bed tonight, we'll see
phantom: parrot
good morning all help with E in left column please
en8,45
thanks will look
well that explains why i'm not seeing it! lol
it's not a word I'm familiar with and would be hard pressed to clue
ok well there can't be an F in it, points-wise
nope, no F
probably either has C or P in it
want me to tell you?
H and M are less accessible
sure :)
it's the C. 3rd letter.
ok. that did seem the most likely option. :)
found it in my scrabble dictionary. annual university ceremonies
I used morewords. :)
but don't own a scrabble dictionary, either
i would think that i would have heard of it then, if it is a university thing
phew, got it, though have not heard of it!
phantom: finance
left two cols grey!
Sevens Slaughtered!
8 left!
got the 9!
We had that one not long ago.
alright, so, the en8 was discussed, i also have te8... anyone have others?
pr8
2 of them
2 pr8
wowee
ok got one of them!
are they both "before"?
no
hmmmmmmm
aHA i monkeyed it
four left! NFTS. very modern.
Any clues for the nine. Welcome
ne9.60 compiund
Ty
Got it. Ty
yw
Missing the w word. Stats please. Ty
We4/8
wr4/8
There is only one so which is it?
Oh sorry...I mistyped it. we
Got it anyway. Ty
I am also missing the m words. Stats welcome. And missing the a and e words for first column letters. Ty
There's an mh, and two ma words that remind me of the quarterback for the KC Chiefs.
The e is en8 and en6/21. I monkeyed the 8 from chat clues, but it's one I haven't seen before.
The easiest way to find the en8 is to do a Google search on the definition. "festive ceremonies commemorating the founding of a city or the consecration of a church."
Have a great day!
It is the Australian/English spelling of the word
Acronym of the day: HOET
speaking of HOET, don't have. but I guess I can get with the below clues.
trying to work with the KC QB clue and it's getting me nowhere
it was in yesterday's grid, ma5. literally the QB minus a letter
minus 2 letters
well, the 6 is minus 1 letter
duh. ty carla
np
well, I took molly's advice on the EN8 and got that. thx. still no HOET though as the darn lower P is being prickly.
I am just missing that lone E
The lone E is the one I mentioned
not quite ready to do a google search yet.
LOL, then you will be missing it for a while
is it that bad?? eep
hello all, just started
Clearly either I am blind or you do not know how to spell the quarterback's name
it's a word I've never heard of, with UK spelling of extra worthless letters.
hey mael
Never mind, you meant the plural
it is bad, but mael, you prob know it
on the way to trying to figure it out I found an fr6 :)
thanks for that reminder, harry
I am trying to figure out why anyone would know the en8
I got the en8!
ty for the extra letter clue :)
because mael knows ridiculous words
Harry, aren't you late for your Mensa meeting?
np
pffft
I practically gave it away to him!
well I have hoet, but still missing the 9.
The extra letters thing hardly gives that one away
I still need one lower P. and don't have the 9 or half the 8 but I don't play HOES.
carla was being facetious, as carla often is.
thank you, harry, for getting me.
you should put that in your profile: "I don't play HOES"
I say the 9 is a stupid word. And oh, we need to include Harry in that Hurshy, DCSeain, Carla conversation.
I know, it has a certain ring to it.
lol harry
i agree the 9 is a stupid word...but i got it...yay!
nice
wtg pcal
HOET!
:-)
congrats carla
tks
Hurshy: Can you elucidate? DC Seain: Only if you give me the penultimate reason. Carla: Great portmanteau! Harry: Carla was being facetious
I like how you're constructing a whole dialog out of random sentences.
I dont think facetious begins to compete with portnamteau
Monday's child is fair of facetious
if nan were here she'd tell us a portmanteau is a suitcase only
But that is how the conversation would go. You four, trying to "out word" each other.
I am Wednesday's child, I think I am full of grace. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
I have no grace whatsoever.
I'm the biggest klutz around
greyed the bottom row and the first column.
if that's what they mean
probably not
but I liked that character on LA Law - Grace Van Owen
the one played by Laurie Partridge.
I think you got mad at me for using sisyphean once
still need 2 o's. will look again.
ooh that's a good one mael
just found the 2 Os :)
yes, mael's sisyphean effort to get into this dialog should not be overlooked.
As I am fond of saying, Grace is not my middle name 😊
I roll back down to the bottom every morning, definitely
gotta run. 20 left. have fun all!
it took me way too long to find the lone A, hah
bye harry! 41 left here. got my work cut out for me.
bye harry, have fun today!
found the o's. bottom row and first col gray!
same, hokie
4th row is just 5 t's left, but they seem very elusive. like, there's only a few ways to go there and I've tried them all.
second column gray too!
nice
I'm missing 4 Ts and have no clue at this point
2nd col gray here too
... oh, just got the 9, it is a bit of a silly word
found another T, I always forget that latin plural
I have one of those
5 left, two 8s... hmm
still 30 here
had to take winston out
oh found the turtle
fw!
well done, pcal
last word was pr 8/45. sometimes the easier ones do me in.
hmm
Not a word I have ever heard used.
And it's redundant.
raincan - something you stick under a leaky roof
raincane, a walking assistance tool with rubber treads
well, I guess I'm not finding this grid as easy as everyone else. 15 left. 5-4-1-1-3-1
all in 3rd and 5th columns
oh, found 2
well I could use a clue for the pr8/50 I sure do not see it
Ends with an alternate spelling of a ball _____ hammer
*Laughing at the word meaning
wow.. thanks molly

24 from last night -- that pr 8/45 clue about the hammer didn't help me. Only think I could think of was ball and **** but couldn't make that work
nm -- got it - had a couple of the vowels mixed up
well done, rather weird one that
i can lue if anyone needs it (just found it before you spoke, really!)
clue, not lue
i need help with the lone E
id be happy for a hint!
pr8 = a prefix + choo choo
well that was an easy one! thanks!
it is an en 8 eva - impossible to clue -- a lot of vowels
oh, that's a different one. thanks
8 - )
hmm, there would have to be two of them, argh LOL
Lone E: VERY latin
pr8.50 is the other.
en.8.45
hints for that one, seain?

use a LOT of vowels
i have the EN8. looking for the other non-choo-choo PR8
oh! that's the one than ends in a ball-_ _ _ _ hammer, alt spelling.
TY!
from greek mytholgy
OMG found the other pr8 -- thanks seain
going to stop giving clues - seem to be invisible most of the time!
found en8, had to use a website for help, though
well done, Gwen
never would have monkeyed that one !
2/3 done, 43 to go
ca 5/12 please?
ca5/12 is a big pile of rocks (like a tombstone)
ty gwen --- couldn't get twisted around enough for that!

Why do the Brits put little boys in little girl shoes? tinyurl.com/49zr4njr

found an N from the 2nd column
hello
clue please for fr6 27
Clue please for pr8/45?
what the stagecoach was
As in what came before the stagecoach
Or rather what time period it was
Another clue would be to teach a job before hand
Which is redundant because when you do the root word it is assumed it is before starting a job
Tx!!
rehi
hmm, not preho5
aha
Nope, it was current-ho5, not pre-ho5
well, the ho5 comes before the stagecoach, does it not?
rehi

Hi all. May I have stats, please, for the A in the first column?
matty! still down under?
ah6/21, we have it a bit but it's always tricky
carla.
I am! Wedding is on Saturday - kids are cute (though Alfie has a virus and Tilda is struggling with toilet training because she's stool withholding) - but I'm still adoring them both!
aww, glad you're getting spend time with them.
hey TO
May I have a nudge on that AH, please?
a + an animal that people ride
neigh, you may not
Oh - never mind
I had got it and not noticed!
lol
How about stats for the E in the first column, please?
I found my F
moo. matty.
oh moo, yesterday I signed up for Les Mills on demand classes. have done them in the past at local gyms. I did not know he was from NZ so imagine my surprise when all the online instructors have NZ accents.
hey TO, happy Tuesday
It's Wednesday here ;)
i love body pump
the E is another story, matty. en8/45
you were always ahead of us matty
yes, used to do body pump a lot
i need to get back. but that's a really tough one to start from scratch.
LOL
yeah, they say to start slow
Les Mills does sound a bit NZish as a name
i was wondering if this is something different, since now all the descriptions say les mills but did not before.
wonder if he's related to Kyle Mills
I did bodystep last night but did a long bike ride today so too tired to do a class.
well i thought it was hard when i was in somewhat shape pre pandemic
i am on the way to looking like pusheen...
i don't know who Kyle Mills is but the website says this is 3rd gen running the company. apparently Les was a track & field star in the 60s.
Kyle Mills was a cricketer for NZ
damn i cannot see the first column E...
it's a word no one's seen before, TO
well I for one am certainly not seeing ti.
do you want a clue?
I moreworded it - it would have taken quite the inspiration to get it alone!
i picked up the moonage daydream this evening. a good way to end philly loves bowie week.
i will take that clue pls and ty
Google "festive ceremonies commemorating the founding of a city or the consecration of a church"
so, what's the 9 stat?
Ne 9 60 its a compound word
ha, found my last A and I actually used that word today
thanks, cheryl, will look
Pen taught me that you have to ask for stats only if you don't want a clue thrown in
good to know I will try to remember
well, will have to find it later. gotta make supper. 6 left. 2-1-0-1-1-1 P N TTTT

only one four to find....and two 8s!
I have 1 8 and a 9 yet to find.
Oh, it's so exciting! Who will finish first?
not me...
I can feel the sarcasm all the way down in massachussetts, molly
i think my missing E is an 8....anyone have stats?
it has been the subject of much hand-wringing today. en8/45
ty....
have the 6 left then I am done
cool...
i guess my missing P is not pieart....;o)
I am missing 2 Ps from the corner
and one each from 7 other tiles.
you are probably missing a P 8....
I have 2xpr8
so i am missing a pr 8....
it's a hard one. (that's an inappropriate clue)
well the one i have is one i have never seen before....someone mentioned the stats and that it was odd and, luckily, i monkeyed it...
oh - so you're missing the normal one.
hah!
add p to the front of re7

well i am done....goodnight all....
thats the one I need still do not have it
finally got it fire works
back for my last 6. reckon I'll just list.
2/3 are T's
maybe I should take one more look there.
well there's one I'm sure I entered already
5 x te, 6 x tr and a tw
ok, looks like I need 2 te and 1 tr. thx, will work on that
oh yeah, the TR is the 9? I already forgot what I was told before supper.
oh, found my last 8
no, the tr's are all 4s or 5s. the 9 is ne9/60 compound word
oh yeah
went to list. should have gotten the TE. still can't find the TR. pretty sure I already put in the P.
tr5/12 ?
yes
ends on the top row
I got it, was trying to make it end in that letter earlier. thanks.
yw
any more clues forpr8/50? Harry's did not resonate.
pr 8/50. pr + two letters meaning three-toed sloth, backwards + song of praise (alternative spelling )
hi rose! i cannot get the last three of that one
song of praise does not compute
hmmm aha
?
does not appear in morewords. my last word tonight
pr +three-toed sloth backwards + small round green vegetable + last letter of he*, lays eggs
*smacks forehead* thank you , rose
LOLLL, yw TO
i guess it would have helped if i was thinking of an 8 not a 7
uh huh
