bea, are you seriously asking me about chicken and dumplins? you all don't have those in KS? they're like drop biscuits dropped into the broth.
some people (and cracker barrel) roll them out and cut them like biscuits, but my mom & grandmother dropped them in.
that's what i call dumplings. but in these parts they call dumplings or slicks the wide, thick flat noodle.

i've never seen CB's dumplings.
I have tried making with GF bisquick but it doesn't have lard in it like regular bisquik and they disintegrate.
so what is a "slick" bea?
it is a slimy noodle that is about 2 inches wide and three inches long. they are also thick.
just google "slick noodle" and a bunch of chicken & slick recipes came up with pics. have never seen or heard of that in appalachia.
