No electricity since last night, and not ETA for when it'll return. My son had a huge tree fall from his yard onto his neighbor's house. (we're in the same neighborhood) It's wild and crazy out there! Outages all around, but all of my family is safe, thank you.

Huge power towers were struck down by tornadoes. those suckers don't fall even during hurricanes, but several did yesterday in a very short time span. Some people may be out for weeks.

I didn't even have full charges on my computer, phone, or back up batteries at the time. Those are quickie things...not like a vehicle.
I have a bank of fully charged externals, because I use them for lighting when I go camping. USB powered lights are getting more popular than battery powered.

Have you never seen an external battery pack? Google Anker Power Bank for a look at a good brand.
We've got a dozen of them, picked up on sale over the years. Any one of them will charge both our phones fully from dead, or keep lighting on for weeks at a low level, or charge an ipad.
sorry to hear that some of you have been affected by bad storms. We would like more rain to put out the fires, but not ike that!
My daughter just texted to say that one of the downed towers is near here, so she might be without power for over a week. Well....party at my house, I say! :) Once our power is restored, of course. Which should be sooner.

Random comment: When we lost power in Austin due to ice storms and the like, Austin Energy would reimburse for spoiled food in the fridge if we applied for it. You might see if your power company does anything like that.

We survived the ice storms by planning for them like they were camping trips. We had pre-cooked meals in boilable bags and a gas stove, so we always had hot food on demand. But we camp in cold weather, so we already had the things we needed.
