hi seain!
I had a lovely Chinese food dinner with friends on Christmas.
I hope your holiday was nice too.
sounds very good. We do not celebrate Xmas. Good thing, too, since Rob had a bad fall and I am down with bppd. Bit of a downer here.
may you the heal well.
thank you. As the wise man said: this too shall pass
if be very annoying and frustrating while experiencing it .
true, dat :)
we are hoping we do not have to go to the doctor/er during Xmas or boxing day. But Rob is in a lot of pain, so we might have to, today.
I'm sorry that he's hurting.
on the plus side, he can flex and stretch his arm, so it is most likely not broken. Let's count our blessings.
that is a blessing, indeed.
but he still deserves pain relief. That really wears on one.
very true.
We're expecting rain here 4 of the next 6 days. Happily, it'll be above freezing, if yet a bit chilly.
fingers crossed for you
we need the precipitation. We were in drought from April through November.
something we rarely suffer here, down below sea level
is any desalinization used in Netherlands for drinking water?
no need. We have plenty of sweet water.
Makes sense -- I know how river-rich a nation it is.
our struggle is to keep the water out, not in, lol
that is what most of the windmills do, is pump water out, no?
nowadays mostly machinal, but yes, that is how it used to be. Primarily pumping stations, though.
that makes sense. Thank you.
phantom: seborrhea...we've got one r and 2 h's. sigh.

Well, it's all over but the returns and leftovers. Thankfully we have nothing to return and a lot of good leftovers. Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas.

morning all! happy Boxing Day
corners done
I'm surprised the whole Boxing Day thing hasn't become "politically incorrect"
I'm surprised anyone takes that bait, Molly
as an american, I have no idea what boxing day actually is
Okay, well I was just involved in a conversation about how the whole thing could be found offensive, but whatever
Carla, it is a tradition started long ago of giving the household servants the day after Christmas off and boxing up all the leftovers from the feast they served the day before to take home with them
but I wanted to say something completely unrelated...was scrolling through FB. I don't have any friends there, only use it for sewing groups. my feed has turned into every other post is something I didn't ask to see outside of my groups. there was a post from a zoo (Cincinnati I think) of a tenrec giving itself a dust bath. how adorable!
mixed/muddles with St. Stephen's Day in some places
firewords! thanks lickety and all cluers
yeah, I've read what it is/how it started but (I have no idea how to put this in words) doesn't really register/mean anything to me.
congrats, dan

I was googling water shortages in the Netherlands, and apparently it is an issue, actually, or has been in the recent past
that seems a random thing to google if you didn't know already it was an issue
or I missed something earlier in the chat
Yeah, Sprite said they rarely have drought in The Netherlands. I tend to believe her, since she lives there.
Oh dcseain asked sprite if they desalinate water, and sprite said there was no need, because they have plenty of "sweet" water. But actually, there are some companies or organizations doing desalination now in the Netherlands.
The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment says that there have been regional water shortages in the Netherlands, and more are expected going forward
*desalinization
sorry, I had it right the first time
hello (anyone still here?)
Hi nan - I'm here (again) - how was your Christmas
great - and yours?
Good - my brother is visiting and made an excellent chicken dish that my father used to make
sounds lovely -- isn't it nice to have someone else to the cooking for you :)
We called it "ugly chicken" because it doesn't look great, but it is very tasty
It is nice!
Did you make a special meal, or go out?
I spent the day with my younger son and his family up at Big White Ski resort -- a very relaxing day for me :)
My only contribution was a couple of applie pies that I made on Christmas Eve. It was so nice not to have to cook dinner :)
Lovely!
fw - enjoy your Boxing Day!
grats Gillie.
rehi - congrats gillie. hey nan.
hi Carla - did you have a good Christmas day?
yes, both the boys are here so that was nice. looks like you had a good one. do you still ski?
no - never did snow ski -- just water skiing. There was no snow hill here when I was a kid.
I liked skiing when I was younger but hate it now
I think the last time I was up on a pair of water skis was about 40 years ago! Can't do either when you've had knee replacements.
hello all. se8 please
been wondering what the 8 is
been a while since I water skied as well. I would kneeboard instead.
spanish unmarried miss is se8
ty carla
se8 is the opposite sex of the se5
but I quit kneeboarding probably 20 years ago after a whiplash inducing crash 🤣
