TIL that the sv has a vowel at the end.
found the 8
found a a male name starting with DA that i didn’t expecti it to take, plus plural
Clues are up
thanks, lickety!
what does the 8 begin with seain?
wa
nbt, nbs
It's the plural of wa 7
ty -- nbt, nbs and crashing. Good night Seain and Rain
Night Nan
nbt/nbs also now
sleep well, nan
morning babbler
+ s
good morning sprite
i hope you and hubby are as well as may be
rent
oops. sorry, cat in face
thanks seain, we are doing okay. Very much looking forward to moving. Or, to be more precise, to having moved, lol, the moving itself is taxing. How are you doing?
where is ru? I want to repun with him :D
he’s in California. 9h mehind you. it’s 22:30 Friday there now. roughly
I know. I still wanna repun with him :D
i have food in rice cooker, which smells really promising.
nice!
oh, yeah, moving is taxing. ARe yall downsizing?
i’m well, thank you.
my cat managed to smpill my water. The area rug soaked most of it up. Sigh.
we moved from a family home to a caravan. We did most of our downsizing back then. Now we are finally moving to a place of our own again. Will need to buy some things like fridge and washing machine etc. And cupboards. Lots of cupboards, the house has none.
oh, is NL like DE in that kitchen moves with one?
bad kitty. I am sure she blames you, though, knowing cats
i’m sure he does. LOL
it depends. This rental house has a kitchen already, but no fridge.
Boston Massachusetts rentlals often do not come with a frigde. I found that weird as here in the DC area, full kitchen comes with renteals.
here it is up to the rental agency or the owners of the place.
that makes sense. Boston is like that too. I did manage to fiend one and the lease specified the fridge belongs to landlord.
ks killed. Ugly ones today.
i’ve only gotten three from there. all KN words
I am incredibly happy we found this new home. It will be lovely to live there. Don't mind having to buy my own fridge.
staying in the same general area you were in before?
no, we are moving out ahead of our daughter and her partner. THey will go live in the area of Arnhem in about a year or so. Our new home is in that area too.
oh, cool! it’ll be nice having them near.
huh. I’m down to missing 1 word on several letters.
her partner is handicapped and they need a little more support than most children. We have been providing that a lot the last year or so. But now, Juno has their electric wheelchair and has made great strides in becoming more independent, so we aren't as needed anymore and can move
oh, how wonderful!
yes, they are amazing. Such courage and power.
Having gone around in Rotterdam with a friend in ia wheelchair, i declared she should use the bike lane, as it’s level, unlike the sidewald.Turned out that was correct.
yes, although it is not without risk. Some people are horrible and only think of themselves
True. Happily, it was often around sunset and into the early evening. And Koep van suid is not as busy bike-wise as some other parts of Rotterdam.
cities with universities are the worst, bike wise. Silly students, lol.
true that!
oooh, rice maker done. BRB
enjoy!
the touch of vinegar really made it bright!
needs to cool a bit though. Very hot.
sounds good
an onion, a carrot, a cup of Jasmine rice, some Better THan Bullion bases: no chicken and mushroom, some herbs, a couple spices, and a packet of vinaigrette. Turned out suprisingly nice.
lovely. Bon appetit!
oh, threw in some olvive oil to bloom the herbs and spices. Forgot about that. extra tasty where it browned on the bottom.
yes, that is nice
ah, right, it is lwei and hwan. No wonder lwan did not work. ohhh those babblets!
heh, yes the babblets can be something
:D
one bowl was enough. Just wanted a bit to help the evening meds digest.
good man
How is elven not in the dictionary!
amen! Tried it three times before accepting that... well... enable
same.
S’lev is how my friends and i shortened 7-Eleven
and the tired side effect of my diuretic is kicking in. So i’m heading toward bed. Happy Babbling yall!
I am rather proud of finding the sv unprompted
nice!
fireflies and poofing. *hugs* seain!
cooee and g'day
lol there she is. Hi and bye, sweetie. Big hugs.
laptop had a gazillion updates and wouldn't allow me on.
so irritating when that happens.
if you're in a hurry to go, i'll catch you later.
Good Morning
You have to laugh at a grid that has ho5 and po4 in it. : D
Good morning, Babblers. :)
Hi Crossy. I just turned my furnace on. Earliest day ever.
Good morning form the east coast of Canada
How cold is it there, swmbo? 40F here.
Currently 16C which is 61F. 40F is a bit chilly I admit. Where are you?
Southeast of Buffalo.
ah. Well, I think the worst of the summer heat is over for us here in NS. Still have some bad fires burning though, so rain, rain, rain would be nice. It rained overnight, but not much.
We are on day 2 of 5 sunny, but not hot, days. I will take the sun.
We have had a summer with almost no rain, unusual for us. Everything is bone dry.
Same here. Lawns are yellow-brown.
A sign of things to come I fear.
Yes. Climate change and COVID will cause the collapse of civilization.
I wonder if any past grid has had sv6/27?
Sadly, I agree. Climate change is already such a big factor. I used to worry that climate change would bring about our destruction via drowning as in the rise of the oceans. Now I think we may burn up, either literally or by desiccation.
ty scrabbler I would never have tried that
YW, Deeha.
svelte
oh, sorry!
That's it, swmbo!
One reason I seldom chat, I get my boxes mixed up LOL
e've has a very dry summer but two days ago we had some heavy showers and more forecast for today
This COVID surge is a bad one and will push many into Long COVID. By the end of 2028 it is predicted that 99% of people will have LC. Cumulative infections are bad.
12c here and we have our first frost warning for Sudbury tonight.
Me too, swmbo.
Brr, Crossy.
Lord save me from working another covid surge.
We are not having a COVID surge here, but measles are a worry. My sister has CLL and is severely immunocomprimised so I am constantly on measles alert.
And both COVID surge and measles worry SO unnecessary!
Yes, I know about the measles outbreaks in Ontario.
Not too bad right now in eastern Canada, but the problem is they spread so easily and so fast. we have a family wedding next weekend with family flying in from across Canada. Not sure she'll be able to risk it.
I know a few Ontario pediatricians who are seeing many cases of measles.
Alberta has a lot of measles too
Since my job was an esential service, I worked all through year one of covid. Nothing like working at a big box store that averages 3000 per day, yet you do not know the vaccination status of any of them. I am old enough that I can remember measle parties, yet I have never had it.
She shouldn't. A N99 mask helps but one-way masking is not as effective as rwo-way.
Trust no one, Crossy.
She probably won't Scrabbler, she is very careful as you can imagine.
Too many anti-vaxxers still about. She must take great care.
Good for her, swmbo.
Fear makes you very careful. We are a large family and I have 4 siblings living in my town. We are careful with our interactions so as not put her in danger
You are wise to protect her. We are in year 6 of this pandemic due to carelessness and selfishness.
Don't forget laziness. People who just can't be bothered putting on a mask.
Public health officials have failed to educate people about how dangerous this virus is. It is crucial to fear this virus.
It burn my arse that as a food worker I get each and every shot as it becomes available, yet some people willingly go around trying to infect everyone just because they are young and healthy, and do not have at-risk conditions, so they do not vaccinate.
Scrabbler you are singing to the choir. I am a retired nurse who came out or retirement in 2021 to help with mass immunization. I have seen he gamut of vaccine information/misinformation/stupidity and fear. It is a sad time when we believe people with no education or direct knowledge over people who make it their life work to protect us.
There are too many pseudoscience influencers. RFK, Jr is one.
I am a doc and I retired early, almost 2 years ago, when colleagues voted to end the mask mandate in our office. I couldn't stay there.
RFK jr fried his brain long ago and now has the power of life and death decisions over millions. Unconscionable. I knew you were a doc Scrabbler and I don't blame you a bit. We do what we can as professionals but that doesn't mean we necessarily risk our lives to do it.
We live in a under-serviced area as fars as doctors go, so the ones we have work far oast retirement age, though new blood is finally starting to choose to practice here.
Past*
Crossy our system is also experiencing low doctor/ health professional providers.
Our eye speciallist worked until he was 77years of age.
Without the backing of PH, educating people on the dangers of SARS-2, what I say seems unbelievable. As you know, SARS-2 damages the brain, causes blood clots, damages the heart, and causes cancer...
About 1/3 of health care providers have Long COVID and can no longer work.
I do not blame you for retiring early, Scrabby.
I know Scrabbler. and sometimes I shudder to think what will happen when another COVID comes along. No way will people quarantine, or follow vaccine quidelines or most precautions.
My brothers wife also retired early after several burout episodes.
Burnout*
Only one of my doctors still has a "you must wear a mask in this office" rule.
If bird flu mutates a just a bit we will have another pandemic. COVID causes immunosuppression so mortality will be high.
Well, enough of this doomsday talk this morning, although I have enjoyed chatting with you! Off t6o shop for groceries and drop in to visit my sister and give her her neupogen shot haha. I may be retied but I am still a nurse.
Fortunately this years dhot--like orevious ones will be available at pharmacies as well as popup clinics and doctors offices at no cost.
Shot*
Yes Crossy, I am all vacced up too.
I have too many compromised loved ones(including myself) to
Miss a sht
Shot
shot is very evasive today
Bye swmbo. Be safe.
you too!
My typing skills are evasive today. :)
mine are most days cross
Crossy, you make us decipher your messages. It's fun.
Lol
A puzzle within a puzzle. :)
I get to be a codebreaker.
nave
Free clue. No deciphering required.
..wrapped up in an enigma, and tied up with a conundrom.
I like your clues better, scrabby. :)
There's nothing cryptic about my clues.
I do not think we have had the sv word in a grid in a very long time.
I don't recall ever seeing it.
84 left and I am done. My rabbits need clean litter boxes.
Tc, scrabby. Have a great day.
I am trying to convince Dr. G to make us a 10x10 weekly grid with 1000-1500 words. :)
Whoa, Crossy.
Works out to 150-200 words per day
Would certainly refreshen Babble!
If you finish the daily in an hour you can just pop over to the weekly. I think it would work very well.
Either that or this place will slowly empty out as us old farts move onwards.
It is doubtful that we average more than two or three new players per year at the moment.
author or "treasure of the sierra madre" is in here lol.
Cool. :)
hi all. help with wa7/8 please
little wa4s.
ty should have seen them. had the base word
Ty for the wa 4/7/8
good morning
hi hursh
Morning, Hurshy. :)
oh crossy why are you talking about such a depressing thing
A weekly grid? I think it would be a bit of une.
Fun
Would keep ruru busy since he finds the dailies too easy. :)
no not that, the thing about how babble will slowly die
why do i get such a mental block trying to find the last word from a tile
sometimes more of course but at least one
i have that same problem most days hursh
that's what i don't get about the super fast finishers
they don't seem to have that problem
you only have their word that they have finished.
well i know sprite is for real
phantom: leopard
right col grey, woohoo!
chuggaboom was the fastest of all time
what about dart
dart is super fast chuggaboom was ten times faster
he'd bang out a 200 word grid in minutes
i do not know if i ever met this chuggaboom
he finished one grid in 3 minutes leading Nan to accuse him of cheating
idk why but i've never been one to care much about cheating, unless, you know, i was the teacher and it was my job to care
when i was a student i didn't really feel anything about the idea of other students cheating
someone else cheating didn't stop me from getting 100 on the test honestly, so, i just didn't care
i got graded on a curve so it would have affected me
I was never a good student either
we had one teacher who liked to curve but
he liked to have "a chunk" of people getting an A
which meant my grades ended up being ridiculous things like in the 120s and 130s
that was chemistry, 10th grade
and *i* didn't feel like i really understood it well so i can't imagine how everyone else felt!
I got mostly B's in high school and had more fun in college and got A's all the time. IT was more stimulating to me I guess
the thing about chemistry was there were too many exceptions. i liked the math of balancing equations for chemical reactions, but then when i would do one and think it made sense, then the teacher would be like, well, yeah, you'd think that it would be like that, but actually, with that chemical, it doesn't do that
and i was like well how do you people get this secret library memorized of all the exceptions
4-4-3
ooh got one of the fours, top row grey!
name that proper noun! Geordi LaForge and Kunta Kinte and host of Reading Rainbow
finished
<---keeps the pressure on Dart :D
well then you have had less mental blockage than i, lol
8 left here
7
got another one. i need 2 each P and V, and one each K, L, S
As obsessed as Ru is with overtaking Dart, I bet Dart never gives a thought to Ru : D
The answer is...Levar
ding ding ding!!!
fw
Not many people your age know Roots
i never actually watched the whole thing, but i'm aware of it
heck, i'm aware of a lot of things that i've never seen or heard
one time in college some friends and i were playing "Taboo", and my friend gave the clue "Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be _____" and i blurted out "cowboys!" and i had NO idea how i knew that. never heard the actual song but must have heard the phrase at some point and there it stayed in my brain, awaiting that moment
and none of our other friends knew it at all, they were like what the heck is that
oh you can bet dart pays attention to it. otherwise I'd be past him
lol ruru
dart may be competing against himself rather than you
It probably helps that you have an eidetic memory
only semi-eidetic
not truly eidetic
I have a photographic memory of wine and phone numbers
i don't remember everything i've seen like that guy on Suits. just, a fair amount.
You only remember part of what you have seen and heard?
basically, yeah. it's just a bigger part than most people i guess.
Well we know the entire script of The Princess Bride is in the yes column
Ru is so happy about that
most of it, anyway, lol
Now he will make an Anne Hathaway comment
ah you beat me to it molly :D
but then, i put unusual time into that one. i once sat in front of the tv for three days going through it slowly so i could make a typed copy of the script myself (because, you know, this was before you could find such things easily on the internet)
That is a little odd
i should probably do that again now because i don't still have that file. that was my old pre-windows laptop which stupidly got destroyed when i packed it in a backpack with a bottle of laundry detergent. those are the sorts of things that make me wonder how i can be so smart yet so dumb.
sod it, i'm getting the list, i cannot see these last 7
ok first one i just thought i had put in but guess i must have mistyped
ok done
I have known and worked with a few very smart people, and in many cases their bug brains tend to have a very narrow focus. I knew one fella who used to design jets for a living, but he had no idea how to cook or d
..or do laundry
Big brains*
Book smart, no walkin' around sense. That is my oldest.
well luckily i can manage to cook and do laundry. but then people have traditionally expected those skills less from men
speaking of laundry, time to do that
Which is dumb. Men have just as much need to eat and have clean clothes as women
good morning/afternoon everyone :)
FW! Last two words: no6 & no7, not related other than the prefix
ty mom5
Yw
Hi all. Clue for the 8 please. Ty.

Tiny ocean ripple, pl
