i got it for him during the pandemic when people were sharing their opposition to vaccines. wanted to make it clear to the folx in the doctors office that we supported them. i didnt imagine it was a statement i would still need to make.

I remember my kids playing O'Dell Lake on the Commodore 64. One of the first games they released.
and we thought both were such a great step up from pong!

my brother and I bought a Commodore Vic 20. we couldn't afford the 64. but mario was introduced on the NES.
and we had a pong. so simple and boring now but back then it was fun.
all i can remember about the vic 20 was that I had to program it myself -- in basic
I remember the first time I used a word processor and printed out a page of a manuscript. That is an amazing thing for a writer who is used to a typewriter.
yeah, I can remember going to sears and typing basic commands into the commodores, running small programs.
I feel like the 64 had to be programmed as well. I think they both had game cartridges.
