172 so far, and am definitely going to regret staring at this blasted grid for so long! Not happy at going to bed without having found that d8/55 yet. Sigh.

1:48 am

Doogle: It's the plural of a d7/40 (if that helps any).

1:56 am

Don't lose too much sleep over that D8, Doogle. ;-) I'm finally retiring after 102 words. Happy hunting!

2:09 am

If you stay up too late for the D8/55, I'll have to take some points off...

2:14 am

Thanks, pmbuko! I'd been trying that word for a while, but just twisting in the wrong direction. Found a nice d6/30 in the process, however.

The other T8/50 is a rare nautical term. A type of boat.

9:48 am

when do we get the word list

10:00 am

T8/50, more ancient than rare nautical term! ;)

any hint for the d8/65?

11:13 am

a word that starts with d ,has 8 letters, and is worth 65 points (I'm still a little confused too)

11:13 am

d8 means there is an 8-letter word starts with d, worth 65 points

11:14 am

d8/65 - crowned ?

11:15 am

posidonxx: you're not supposed to post the word list, it ruins the puzzle for everyone else.

11:17 am

oh no! I'm not done trying! I'll have to try not to look at your list.

11:17 am

wth? why would anyone think it's okay to post a list of answers??

11:18 am

posidonxx, you ruined the game by posting answers.

11:19 am

I sent an email to Babble and asked if they could remove the list like they did yesterday with the list that got posted.

11:19 am

you would think that someone who can find so many words could at least spell "poseidon" correctly . . .

11:19 am

yeah, that pretty much ruins it

11:20 am

Thank you for having the answered removed

11:21 am

"you would think that someone who can find so many words could at least spell "poseidon" correctly . . . " yea, and you'd also think they would be smart enough to realize that posting answers on a game like this is rude, and takes the fun right out of the game.

11:21 am

someone please post the stats so that people aren't playing completely aimlessly and posting their word lists for help/

11:21 am

excuse me - answers removed

11:21 am

Pathetic, actually. Thanks, lemonpizza and Dr_God!

11:22 am

he's not posting the word list for help. he's posting it to be an a**. thus the double post.

11:23 am

posidonxx: getting all the answers because you know a little programming is so very impressive! now, please find some other place to bait!

11:27 am

Folks - I'm pretty sure Posidonxx is yesterday's nutzo. Posidonxx stated that he posted the word list yesterday, but nobody by that name posted yesterday. I'll write to ol' Doc God.

11:28 am

posidonxx must be even more bored than people who play babble all day.

11:30 am

This is my first time playing...how do you know if you get all the words?

11:31 am

Today's babble stats: 8 x 5 7 x 22 6 x 53 5 x 115 4 x 110 -- 305 words -- A -- 34 B -- 19 C -- 10 D -- 48 E -- 10 i -- 11 M -- 23 N -- 6 R -- 43 S -- 38 T -- 22 W -- 41

11:33 am

whew, thats much better :) btw, i started playing babble yesterday and am already addicted, thanks to everyone for being so helpful with the clues and the stats.

11:34 am

Welcome! It IS addictive, isn't it?

11:35 am

i currently have 162 words for 2377...more more than half way... not bad for my second game :)

11:36 am

Hi Sprite...thanx and yes it is addictive!

11:36 am

perhaps having a character limit on the chat log messages would at least make it more cumbersome to paste in all of the words?

11:36 am

I'm addicted! I just can't believe how much I suck! Do you guys just know this many words or are you using a dictionarry site or something. I feel like an idiot.

11:37 am

Just out of curiosity, what is the longest word you guys have ever found?

11:38 am

HELP, Babble God, am I going crazy or what? Yesterday I ended with 126 words, 1848 points, and nowhere do I find myself on the list. It's has happened before where I had more words and points that were listed, so now when I play I do not close the game, I just mimimize it. Anyone have any answers? Sprite, thanks for the stats.

11:39 am

I have only been playing for a few days but i have found a 10

11:39 am

Lol Goose, you're absolutely no idiot! I always start randomly, just typing all words I see. Then I look at the clues and hints in the log. When I really get stuck, I grab the dictionary. If all else fails, I use the wordfinder site (www.a2zwordfinder.com)

11:42 am

Why won't it let me have "arab" ?

11:42 am

I believe the biggest word I have seen here was an 11-word. 4 o'clock, could you tell us what your 10-word starts with and how many points it is worth? That would help us find it too :)

11:44 am

no no i didnt find a 10 today...the question was what is the biggest word you have ever found

11:44 am

arab is a proper noun I think :)

11:46 am

I think Arab needs a capital.

12:09 pm

you were right, the "female that serves drinks" made me say...oh crap!I'm slow, I guess that is what I get for going to a State school :)

www.a2zwordfinder.com is a good site, I've heard, though I couldn't figure out how to use it yesterday. :P

Anyone have any of the "n" words?

n6/21 lowest points

12:24 pm

d7/40 -A quality or characteristic deserving of blame or censure; a fault. and d8/55 is the plural

thanks for the d7 and d8 clues

12:30 pm

feel free to help a girl out with those n's :)

12:33 pm

I've only got one n so far (5 letters) - means "low point"

12:34 pm

(3) x s7/32

12:35 pm

a site I have used with X-word puzzles is called oneacross.com.... it's great if you have a clue as to the meaning and all you do is pop in the # of letters. Hope that helps some people!

12:37 pm

N's are escaping me too. Are they unusual words?

12:37 pm

aha! d7 and d8! :)

12:37 pm

"low point" emotionally or geographically orneither?

12:38 pm

12:56 pm

12:58 pm

12:58 pm

1:10 pm

Thank you for the Aragorn S7 clue Gail!

1:12 pm

Esteemed Newbies - Before posting a word, *please* check that it hasn't already been posted. People keep posting the same words time after time today. Hokay? Thanks!

1:12 pm

Sara, there are no U's.

1:12 pm

No u's, but got my 8 x 5 finally.

1:13 pm

So far I haven't yet used the U.

1:13 pm

According to the stats, there are no U's.

1:17 pm

Anyone beat 190/3303 yet?

1:19 pm

Am I the only one that it took like 3 hours to actually come up with the t4/4 ruler of old?

1:20 pm

Nope, 195 words, but only 3018 points yet. Don't think this site has been as slow as today before.

1:21 pm

I wish I had beat that! I'm only at 158/2295. I'm playing from work so have to keep putting this to the side.

1:21 pm

Thanks for the clue, Jen! I didn't have it and I have 206 words.

1:22 pm

Lol Jen... usually the last words I find are embarrassingly simple. The T-ruler called Peter used to live in my hometown, so for me it is easier. Sometimes the C-form comes up in these grids too.

1:23 pm

I/m playing at work, too, gotta get through the work day somehow.

1:24 pm

The i6-21 is not apparent to me. I have the i4 type of flower too. Is there another clue for the i6-21?

1:26 pm

There are 2 i6/21s. First one is a plural of i5/21: decree(s) of the Sultan. The other is the plural of the flower - not a common plural form though.

1:27 pm

I can't believe I wasn't seeing the T-ruler word after the first clue. "Peter" really helped. Thanks!

1:27 pm

Judi, part of the eye but spelt two ways for two 21's.

1:32 pm

In case any of you haven't tried the search engine brainboost.com, it's pretty cool. You type your queries in the form of a plain English question such as "What is a decree of the sultan?"

1:33 pm

A tip for newcomers. If you click on the ? box next to a word, it will sometimes give you not only plurals, but other variations of the word. I have found up to four more words that way in some cases.

1:33 pm

211 words 3439 pts

1:34 pm

Thanks Troy, that's a fun site!

1:35 pm

239/3596 now and the words aren't coming easy anymore.

1:36 pm

It won't take "dwat". As in "dwat that pesky wabbit!"

1:37 pm

Rofl Gail!

1:40 pm

You can see I'm getting desparate. 214 words and my brain is starting to squeak.

1:47 pm

200+ words! You are good!

Still need 30 more words... time to count per letter. Perhaps we can compare our incomplete letters and see if a breakdown helps?

1:57 pm

@ Alastyr and Goose: I use the a2zwordfinder site like this: partial letters lookup - start, end or part of a word - go. The results are listed by length. Sorry I did not see your question earlier.

2:02 pm

143/2030 I'm out for the nite. best luck all.

Just found a6/18 can also be found with the cardiac

2:12 pm

i have 2 Ri/5's

2:13 pm

both are based on R4/5

2:14 pm

Thanks! How blind can one be... I missed the plural. One more...

2:14 pm

I'm still missing 10 r's - can't help with those.

2:17 pm

Thanks anyway, Gail... and even if you haven't finished a letter, sometimes you may have words somebody else missed. Like when I have 3 x Ri and you have 4x Ri. :D

2:18 pm

FYI another helpful site is www.morewords.com

2:20 pm

argh - still laboring along behind with only 115 words; and can't find the final i!

2:56 pm

Was wondering if any of my fellow Babble players experienced a problem with yesterday's stats. I ended up with just over 3000 points (around 208 words) but for some reason I show up on the archives today with a total of 73 points! I've written to Dr God, but haven't gotten anywhere yet. Just curious as to what in the world happened!

3:02 pm

Hey Cathy (Mom!). At 11:38 Mary said she had a similar problem. I wonder if it could have anything to do with common names? Just a thought.

3:03 pm

only 83 words..people..i'm struggling

3:06 pm

Hi all, just signed up today and am curious where you're seeing the stats from yesterday, as well as where you are getting stats on what combinations are in this puzzle?

3:06 pm

oh dear..stuck at 135 words

3:07 pm

now have wa/4 x 12 and wa/5 x 11

3:07 pm

On the other hand it's difficult to argue with something that was offered with such goodwill

3:08 pm

duke, you can see yesterday's puzzle by clicking on "view yesterday's puzzle" right above "my word list"

3:10 pm

Thanks... but I'm not getting any stats! I want to see how I'm matching up!!

3:14 pm

Today's stats were posted on the chat log at 1:48 p.m. if you scroll down, you'll eventually come to them!! Lots of chatter today! Welcome all new players -- hope you love it like we do!!

3:16 pm

Getting stats each day requires someone who's not playing the game [like a family member] to use a puzzle solver of some sort and count everything up. I'm not one of those people, yet!!

3:17 pm

Oooh, I see! I've been coming and going and missed that. Thank you!

3:18 pm

Ok, I owe Dr God some good press. As for my question regarding my missing words from yesterday, he did find a bug that allowed multiple players to use the same name. So guess another Cathy joined yesterday, and that was the score that got picked up, instead of mine. He says he's found it and will be able to restore everything back to the way it should be -- and will also prevent multiple users with the same name. Thanks, Dr God !! I'm feeling much better now !!

3:21 pm

Let's hear it for Dr. God! Yet again they come through. Yaaaay!

3:35 pm

Missing R was an Ri4. Giving it a rest and watch CSI Miami did help! ;)

3:46 pm

297 and I quit. Close enough. Eyes rolling around on carpet begging for mercy.

3:46 pm

Right, thanks for the help on the Rs and Ws! It's 305 words / 5.01 / 4618 points for today. Recap breakdown for the Ws: Wa4 x 13, Wa5 x 12, Wa6 x5, Wa7 Wi4 x3, Wi5 x5, Wi6 x2 For the Rs: I was missing Ri4 x1 and Ri5 x1. It was really fun babbling today, with all you kind people. Hope the new players will be coming back. :D

3:50 pm

Do you know what I miss, the average number of points each person has in the rankings. It'd help us newbies see what we're up against.

3:50 pm

I'm giving it a rest at 203/3024. My brain is beginning to sizzle unpleasantly.

3:54 pm

229 and 3111 so far--off to pick up my new foster rescue dog, Spike!

3:54 pm

I am not sure what you mean, nkyad... the average points? Each grid has another total, so that average wouldn't mean anything.

3:58 pm

Hi I'm new. What does d7/44 mean? I'm trying to figure it your code. Thanks!

4:00 pm

7 letter word, starts with d, worth however many points....

4:01 pm

@ abbym: D7/44 means a word starting with D, having 7 letters and worth 44 points. Good luck babbling!

4:01 pm

cool - thankssssssssssss

4:04 pm

sad but true, after my first two days I have finally reached 100 words. sadly, i am very proud of this. :) the thought that 200 more words lie in that grid make me feel somewhat manic :)

4:09 pm

Goose, I'm right there with you. Yesterday (my first) I had only 60 or so, but my goal today was 100. I've got 106 and I'm happy with that, but can't believe how many I'm still missing. AAARGH

4:15 pm

see you guys tomorrow-goose

4:50 pm

This is my second day playing. Got 160 words today, 2115 with no hints, no dictionaries . . . (yesterday I followed some hints and used a paper dictionary a couple of times, but today I decided to try without). At this point I've realized that in order to find more words in today's puzzle I will need to use the hints on the list and the crossword "helper" websites some have mentioned. But after looking up a couple of word beginnings I've that kind of sucks the fun out of it for me. So I think I'll stick to my own feeble brain and therefore remain a middling scorer. Very addictive game!

5:08 pm

sprite, maybe we could have the average percentage of the number of words found (ie, a 0.9 rating would mean the person found 90% of the words, on average, on each puzzle he/she participated). Plus the number of puzzles that person played.

5:23 pm

my first day here too.... what happens if I close the window on the game? Do I lose all my words and stats for the day or can I get them back? I've worked to hard to even try. :)

5:29 pm

Vince, I'm new here too, but I think you can safely close the window. I started playing at work (*sheepish grin*), and am now continuing from home on a different computer. The game seems to save your current status between each reload of the page.

5:30 pm

Vince, I close mine out many times during the day and it is always there when I come back to it. Which is often. This is my 2nd day. I can't get enough of it. My husband is going to be so sorry he found this for me.

5:44 pm

'meds' isn't valid? This game makes me need them! ;)

5:45 pm

Hmm... Do you think we should suggest an FAQ to the admins? A lot of new people have joined, and undoubtedly will continue to join, so perhaps we could come up with a list of things to tell the newcomers. For instance, it seems that quite a few people don't understand the word codes right away, so we could include that. What do you all think?

6:07 pm

Being new, I think that is a wonderful idea. I spent most of yesterday reading the messages to learn the ins and outs

6:21 pm

101 words/1647 pts Better than usual, in that I got many long ones, and after a day of numbers, a welcome diversion. But only got 3 of the 8s, they're going to haunt my sleep!

6:47 pm

178 for 2610. And only using the Mac dictionary widget occasionally. :)

7:03 pm

I don't know about the rest of you but the more chit chat on the log the longer this page is taking to load...

7:38 pm

DarleenMB -- yes, it is definitely a lot slower. If you hide the log, it loads much faster.

7:44 pm

143 words, 1900 even. Exhausted. Quits. G'nite everyone :)

7:52 pm

any hints on Re8?

8:00 pm

To accuse, denounce, or attack (a person, for example) as a Communist or a Communist sympathizer

8:13 pm

am new to this..do they tell you how many words are in the puzzle..or what the highest possible score is?..i have been working on this for an hour..and all i got was 1501

8:16 pm

total words: 305 max points, no, you'll find that out if you finish the puzzle or by looking at "yesterday's puzzle" which is posted at midnight Central time US.

8:16 pm

thanks for the clue for the Re/8. never heard of the word before

8:17 pm

i've got 244 words so far for a total of 3408 points

8:17 pm

so the total could easily be 4000 or more

8:34 pm

reposting (lianakate, this tells you how many words for each letter) Today's babble stats: 8 x 5 7 x 22 6 x 53 5 x 115 4 x 110 -- 305 words -- A -- 34 B -- 19 C -- 10 D -- 48 E -- 10 i -- 11 M -- 23 N -- 6 R -- 43 S -- 38 T -- 22 W -- 41

8:36 pm

So I never thought I would become a babble widow so quickly! DH came home from work and took over my game! LOL

9:40 pm

233 words, 3425 points, and a strong need for sleep. g'night all!

9:43 pm

151 words on second day, not too shabby - in my opinion... but at least i learned the name of currency in two (or more?!) african nations :D

10:17 pm

wow - addicting. now my B-F is in on it...

11:03 pm

dammit... still missing an 8! btw thanks for the game!

11:10 pm

Enjoy the game baby, love ya! muahh

11:15 pm
