whoops someone has already asked this......fool that I am

5:14 am

There's no list: otherwise, it'd be too easy. So start using that brain and those eyes of yours again. Most of all, enjoy.

5:19 am

actually, someone usually posts the stats including the number of words per letter

5:43 am

Ive got 35 words so far, made a few up also which is fun knowing some wierd words are in there

5:58 am

I know what you mean CJ25, I'm struggling on 69 and from the posts I see there are more than 100 words to find so I better knuckle down if I am to find anymore haha

clues gibven previously are good but i will repeat. b8 think captian of fishfingers or to look down on something gives you a ...view of things. i8 is what the meek shall do, or what you do if your wealthy aunt passes away and leaves you stuff!!

Please don't post the actual words, folks! It takes the fun out of it for everyone else...

8:43 am

denny not sure wot that means at all as have only started playing 2day and dont know wot those abbreviations mean sorry

8:44 am

anj t7/36 - if you put a word for 3 with a word for a religious group, that will give you it.

8:44 am

Darn. Won't take birdee or birdy. Enable writers must not have kids. ;-)

8:44 am

thanks denny understand ur last clues

8:45 am

supermac - b8 means the word starts with b and has 8 letters. the bigger numbers give the points. if you look at the babble rules it tells you how the points system work. i8 means starts with letter i and has 8 letters - good luck

8:47 am

Denny After a few ruinous days playing this I've resolved to play for exactly half an hour a day then cheat to find out what I missed. So, some ABSOLUTELY UNOFFICIAL don't-blame-me-if-they're-wrong-they-were-off-by-one-yesterday stats: b(9) c(15) d(21) e(10) h(5) i(9) m(22) n(1) r(24) s(26) t(34) 4(75) 5(62) 6(30) 7(7) 8(2) (Posted in a different format from the official stats so that hopefully people scrolling down don't confuse the two)

10:05 am

New here...how do you know how many possible words there are? Thanks!

10:07 am

there are sites where you can get the word list. my husband pulls the list and does it before he goes to work. there's not a way to do it where you don't run the risk of seeing the words...

Baggo has listed them below

10:13 am

Hey Care, hows it goin?

supermac help me i have only got 7

10:16 am

how is demist not a valid word it's in the dictionary

10:25 am

y is birdy not allowed ?

10:27 am

Babble only accepts words in the ENABLE dictionary--the frustration you're experiencing is shared by many!!

10:34 am

I thought demist should have been in as well. For those needing definitions you could try http://www.m-w.com/

10:36 am

ok, i need to be excused soon - my brain is full! lol

10:38 am

Help needed! Day 1 - 59 words worth 793. Not great........

10:55 am

thats good kurtmontgomery88

10:56 am

ok i give up 145 / 2122

10:56 am

I'd love to track down which version of ENABLE Babble is using. Closest I've found is a WORD.LST file from ENABLE2K (173528 words). 'demist' doesn't appear in that list, but does in the most recent ABLE supplement. Dr God tells me an update will be in the works soon.

10:57 am

That's totally ridiculous!

10:58 am

That's ridiculous...............66/872

10:58 am

this is my first go - do i have to wait for 3 days average before i get a score in?

10:59 am

maybe in the enable dictionary demist is hyphenated to de-mist

11:00 am

11:08 am

I think everyone should stop now and let me catch up

11:09 am

remit is another one like demist

11:10 am

'tweet tweet!' variations on that theme will net you a few...

11:12 am

i have 3 so far. how addictive is this game!

11:14 am

Very addictive. I've 5 Bs out of 9 but i'm currently flapping about my lack of Rs.

11:15 am

some of the B's i got by typing what i thought were made up words

11:15 am

82/946 I'm a loser baby...so why don't you kill me... : )

11:16 am

oh rite the stats that baggo gave are how many words there are for todays puzzle?

11:45 am

I'm looking for 1-e but a few c's

11:46 am

joshua - try a place where you would get your pills; another name for a vest (olde worlde!); I like hairy ones. I'm thinking about the others - will get back to you!

11:46 am

kurtmontgomery88 - if it feels good, type it. A good 50 of my words are new to me today. Also, check the words you already have to see of any can have an s or d added on the end.

11:47 am

or a "de" or "re" at the beginning

11:48 am

one of the c's is a colour

11:49 am

Thanks Moozey

11:49 am

...good speech!

11:50 am

2:44 pm

karenh: I'm at work, no cupboards here

2:55 pm

Getting there, slowly but surely... :)

2:55 pm

3:14 pm

Can anyone tell me which T's I'm missing? I have T4x13, T5x21, T6x3 and T7x2.

3:16 pm

3:18 pm

judi, that is 39 t's, did I read the stats wrong? I thought there were only 34 ts?

3:19 pm

jax - c6 is the plural of c5 which you do when you are very happy or when someone is doing something and you want to encourage them

3:19 pm

Dislexic. I have T4x13, T5x12, T7x2 and T6x3. I am 4 short.

3:49 pm

Go Braves - saw an earlier post that said this (there is 1 missing, but this might help) mex5, mi x 11, mu x5

3:50 pm

Cagey last one is most commonly combined with "while"

3:50 pm

Cagey - there's an e4 that can be used as a prefix to "while"

3:51 pm

Fit1, Jax - the re 7/36 can be found by tacking the re on to an e5/14 meaning 'to give out'

3:54 pm

I'm at 101/1422, how do I know when I'm done??

My daughter sent me to this site knowing I'd be immediately addicted. The teacher in my won't let me use a dictionary, word list, etc. Just seems like cheating! What's a high score without using these cheatsheets? I do think the hints are great!

4:18 pm

You're a man after my own heart Munner - using dictionaries and other cribs is hardly cricket - a bit like athletes who use performance enhancing drugs.

4:19 pm

4:20 pm

I'm passing out at 144 - good luck all and good nite!

4:29 pm

6:08 pm

Uneaixoise > at least 1 each St5 & st6 missing. Are you sure about those two sm/5's? My stat gen says 174 words which is two short, but it also says s=26 and sm5/1. The two differnce is on my T's at 32 instead of 34. There might be 177 words here i think.

6:12 pm

thanks guys for all your help! ive not done too bad for my second day - 74 words with 1047 - hopefully will be even better tomorrow and beating you all!!! sleep well all you english lot - have a good day everyone else!!

Nite Lolly see you tomorrow

6:13 pm

night night!

6:15 pm

Yeah, I think Uneaixoise's 2nd Sm5 hast to be illusory. I've tried all possible combinations twice with no reward.

6:18 pm

I thought I was the only one who said RTFM, Fred. I loooove it. :)

6:23 pm

fit 1 - it wasn't big and it wasn't clever so fred got sent to the naughty step....;)

6:23 pm

Brandyjack (or anyone!) - Can I have a clue on the 3rd St6? I've got the one that Mick Jagger does and the one Keith Richards does. ;)

6:24 pm

babble virgin day one 103 words 1426 points. going to zzzzzzz

6:25 pm

used to hold up a roof - or a funny walk

6:26 pm

you do one with a spoon

6:26 pm

do that Stray Cat St_ _ _ ()

6:26 pm

Blech. I had the 3rd St6 all along. What I'm missing is the 5th St5... I've got St5/10 x2 and St5/14 x2. And the 5th is???

6:26 pm

i think that's the one mick jagger does... lol. what's the third one??

6:27 pm

I'm having trouble with the 7 letter ones HELP!!

6:27 pm

Although I guess that's what Jagger does. I only have two myself. It's amazing how hard it can be to find a 5 letter word when you have the first two.........

6:28 pm

it's the spoon one - but I can't think of anything to do with the rolling stones

6:28 pm

sorry--2 sm4's and 1 sm5

6:30 pm

So there's an St5 that has to do with a spoon? The St4/4 is obvious, but I can't see any way of lengthening it. Am I blind?

6:32 pm

The 3rd St6 is an 18-pointer meaning to vex or annoy, present tense of an S5/10.

6:34 pm

Does anyone have a clue to the 2nd T7?? I've got the Tr7/36 meaning to cut into thirds (I assume), but I can't find the other for the life of me.

6:35 pm

anyone who can do these without a dictionary is dangerous. I can handle the olde english, the latin and the french. But words like that are by guess and by golly......

6:45 pm

I don't think using a dictionary is cheating... in fact it's more educational that way. I can't remember the last time I spent so much time with my dictionary.

6:47 pm

love the Keith Richards and Mick Jagger references!!!

6:51 pm

Doogle - I cant get that "st" one.

6:54 pm

don't get the spoon reference at all

6:57 pm

found that "st"--never heard of it before

6:58 pm

Sorry about the spoon - me being stupid again.

6:59 pm

to find the obscure "st" Google "To vex; to annoy; to startle"

6:59 pm

10 words to go . . . jeez

7:01 pm

if the correct total is 176

7:04 pm

I'm missing 4 m's... this is what I have so far: me4 6 me5 14 me5 14 me6 24 mi4 6 mi5 16 mi5 14 mi4 6 mi5 14 mi4 6 mi5 14 mi6 24 mi4 6 mi5 14 mu4 6 mu5 14 mu4 6 mu5 14

7:04 pm

Brandyjack, some people have a really knack for finding needles in the haystack and seeing things stand apart from the rest. Not everyone who starts this will attain that skill immediately. Because most of these words are pretty basic. Just enjoy and learn.

7:04 pm

Anyone want to talk T's? I am missing 11. Am I blind?

7:06 pm

many thanks for the ST.

7:07 pm

I'm missing seven T words. I haven't got either of the T/7s : (

7:08 pm

I don't think there are two t7's. If there are only 7x7, then there are 2xc56, 2xI40, b740, t736, r736

7:10 pm

is a list of the words posted after the puzzle closes?

7:11 pm

I have one to the t7's- to cut into three

7:12 pm

I'm missing 1xI/40, t7/36, r7/36. any clues?? I've got the i7/40, what the meek get.

7:15 pm

Saladspork- you are missing mi6/27

7:16 pm

I got the T/7!!! yayy! just i/7 and r/7 to go.....

heh... i was just figuring out a mnemonic word to help me remember which letters i still needed words for... when i found the mnemonic word in the grid!

7:34 pm

That's it, I'm done. 120 words, 1777 points. Will try again tomorrow :)

7:35 pm

meh, time to go home... 156/2252... maybe i'll try more later.

Eh... time to leave work now. 165 words 4.85 2434

8:00 pm

Does anyone out there have the 3rd m24??? I've got the bishops hats and the one that means "earns," "deserves," or is a brand of cigarettes. But the third one... ???

8:19 pm

WOO HOO, I finally got the T7 word

8:19 pm

The m6/24 is asuperlative of a m4/6 and its plural m5/14.

8:29 pm

Thank you, butterfly! That's been bugging me since about 2 a.m. e.s.t. Now, as to those pesky r-, s-, and t- words...

8:30 pm

What are your favorite dictionary sites to help with clues?

8:31 pm

I'm missing 2 c's, I thing ce5 and ce 6, this is what I have, any hints would be great. ce 4/6 x2 ce 5/16 ce 5/14 ch 5/20 x3 ch 6/33 x2 ch7/56 x2 cy 5/22 cy 6/36 Am I missing Ce's and any help?? Thanks all

8:32 pm

Doogle, did you get the 4th M6 yet? M6/27.

8:38 pm

Yep, got it Brandyjack. Thanks! I'm down to 2 Rs, an S and 2 Ts. My head, she spins.

8:42 pm

Is there some way to get a complete word list for the current or a prior day's game?

8:43 pm

jax, ce6/24 is a colour.....

8:43 pm

missing a ce6/24 (color), ce5/14 (grecian girdle)

8:43 pm

I'm stuck on the i's... I have in6/27, in7/40x2, in8/55, in4/5, and in4/4. From what I read earlier I'm missing two 6's and a 5, but I'm baffled. Any clues available?

8:46 pm

Ugh. Can anyone point me to my last, lost m? me4 me5x2 me6x2 mi4x5 mi5x4 mi6x2 mu4x3 mu5x2 Thanks!

8:47 pm

thanks brandyjack cagey - you need in 4/9, in6/36, in 6/27. they are all related to length (not metric)

8:48 pm

brandyjack - you just got me the Grecian ce with your question. Google it and tweek the last letters and you'll get it. Thanks

8:51 pm

Jax - got 'em. I can't believe I missed those. I'm American - they should have jumped out at me. It must be time for bed. Thanks

8:54 pm

I'm still stuck on r/7. any clues anyone? thanks in advance.

8:57 pm

oops, I've got it. it's the other i/7 I'm looking for.... (goggle eyed from thinking too much!! lol! )

9:00 pm

St5 - I've got 4 of them but am missing one. I've got: St5/14 - guitar action St5/10 - a support St5/14 - vapid wines / unfermented graped juice St5/10 - vex, annoy Any hints or clues on the last one?

9:01 pm

The other i/7 is related to the i/7 and i/8 (based off the i/5) that you probably have.

9:03 pm

doogle, st5 - a funny walk

9:04 pm

Babbler - that's the same one as the support, right? I've got that one. Unless there are 2 St5 funny walks? Calling the ministry of silly walks!

9:04 pm

hints on the r/7?

9:05 pm

stumped on T4's I have th x 3, ti x 3, tr x 3, tu, ty x 3. I'll trade u similar help. :)

9:06 pm

doogle, (blush) I think you're right! have you got st/5 meaning "A slight gleam or glimmer; a glimpse" ?

9:08 pm

kimdog, it's a plural of a 6/24

9:09 pm

Thanks, Babbler - you're a gem!

9:09 pm

my pleasure : )

9:10 pm

Harv - you're missing a tu4

9:11 pm

kimdog, thanks for the clues, but I'm still stuck! haven't got the i/5 either.... : (

9:12 pm

Still missing R5s. I've got, in order: re5/18 re5/12 re5/18 re5/14 ri5/16 ri5/14 And that's it. I'm missing at least one, and perhaps two... help!

9:13 pm

Doogie your st5 means "To vex; to annoy; to startle." It's actually an anagram of one of the others!

9:14 pm

nevermind, that's all

9:14 pm

4 of the I's are related to getting something left to you in a will (or the opposite of "out there")

Reposting 8x2 7x7 6x30 5x62 4x75 176 words b-9 c-15 d-21 e-10 h-5 i-9 m-22 n-1 r-24 s-26 t-34

9:15 pm

Babbler - there isn't an i5 ! i7 clue: Q: Is he in there with you? A: No, he's not "insert i6" here And then make it present tense for the i7

9:19 pm

Doogle, fab clues!! got them! you're magic!

9:25 pm

ok, down to 2 missing m's mi5/14 and m6/27 and si4, si5 and sm5. Any hints? I need to get back to my life!

9:30 pm

doogle, re5/10

9:30 pm

BOO

9:32 pm

Okay, found another R5/10. There's no definition I can find anywhere (though there are a couple of Dutch ships bearing this name, but it is an anagram of a t5/10 in this grid. This leaves me now with: re5/10 re5/18 re5/12 re5/18 re5/14 ri5/16 ri5/14 I'm pretty sure there's one more r5. Any hints in the right direction greatly appreciated!

9:33 pm

Oh. Is that the one you meant, Brandyjack?

9:36 pm

can't find a def for re5/10, but it appears to be simultaneously a german name (people and sports clubs bear it) and it appers in an olde english william burns poem/ode to a horse.

9:36 pm

Is there anyone out there who's completed the Rs and Ts? If so, can you tell me how many 4-letter words starting with each there are? I'm uttering many 4-letter words start more sibilantly in my quest for my last 4.

9:36 pm

doogle, thats the one and there are only 7 r5's.

9:39 pm

doogle 7 r4's, minimum 13 t4's, possibly a 14th. my stat gen only showed 32 T's so there are two i don't know about. one of which appears to be a T7, so i don't know what the missing T is.

9:42 pm

Huh. Well, I've already got 10 r4s and believe there to be an 11th, and yes, 13 t4s.

9:42 pm

doogle, have you got 2 T7's? my stat gen agrees with the one posted that there are a total of 7, seven letter words, but mine says only one T7. Which is the angle divided by 3 thingy.

9:42 pm

there's an re5 that means 'to balk', it's spelled like the re4 'eurasion sandpiper' with an extra letter

9:43 pm

sorry, must have gotten confuzzed there. 11 R4's total, not 7.

9:44 pm

that would be re5/10 and re4/4, respectively

9:44 pm

Doogie -- I've also got 13 T4's, but I'm still missing 5 T's, so not sure what they are

9:45 pm

Omg. you really did say boo j-murph

9:47 pm

Doogle, call me an idiot, but why can't I get that i6 word (present tense i7)??

9:52 pm

kmahabir - try it as two words put together. not out but ** and not there but **

9:54 pm

jax - THANK YOU. Sometimes I overlook the obvious.

9:56 pm

T5s. They're out there. I know it, you know it, but they're hiding. Two of them, the little rats. Here's what I've got T5-wise, in order: th5/16 x2 ti5/16 ti5/14 x2 ti5/12 ti5/10 tr5/12 tr5/10 tr5/14 ty5/16 6y5/22 Please help me stamp out missing t5s! Thank you.

10:01 pm

there are two ty6es, one a past and one a present tense of the ty5/22

10:02 pm

never mind. i can't even read anymore!

10:05 pm

No prob, SFNeil. I've already stamped out the T6s. It's the T5s that I hates.

10:07 pm

Doogie, you're missing at least one ti5/10, and can you tell me anything about the ty5/16?

10:10 pm

Rebegging: can no one help me with my lonely missing m? I've got: me4 me5x2 me6x2 mi4x5 mi5x4 mi6x2 mu4x3 mu5x2 Any crumbs appreciated!

10:11 pm

sfneil - ty5/16 is a plural of ty4/7 - one who fastens. Thanks for the Ti5 clue - off to hunt the little devil down.

10:13 pm

sfneil - you're missing an mi5

10:14 pm

a blessing on you, Doogie! I'm betting the ti5 I've got you don't is an alternate spelling for the strength of a chemical solution

10:16 pm

sfneil - Nah, I had the tough one. I was missing the very obvious one that rhymes with the one you were missing. I now have one (*&^?! t5 to go before I finished this blasted puzzle and can go eat my chocolate gelato.

10:18 pm

Wow! I feel as dumb as you do! Thanks again... down to two s's and two t's... arrgh

10:24 pm

sfneil - Sounds like one of your missings is "my" t5. Since I simply can't see it, and I'm down to typing in combinations beginning with tch.. , I'm going to go have my dessert now. What S words are you missing? Oh, btw - it's doogLe w/ an L please. :|

10:26 pm

Sorry DoogLe! My tired eyes are all scrunched up. I'm down to 2 s's and a t now. Could you look at my s's before you go? se4x6 se5x2 si4x2 si5 sm4x2 sm5 st4x3 st5x4 st6x3 So many thanks!!

10:32 pm

sfneil - You're missing an Si5 and an St5. So - your missing T is a 5 also, yes?

10:33 pm

I assume so. But I honestly don't know how to tell (I'm still quite a newbie).

10:34 pm

Oh and thanks for 's' advice! I'm off to hunt them down...

10:39 pm

nailed both s'es!! Thanks a million, doogle!

10:46 pm

No prob, sfneil. The way I track letter #s is just by crossing them off of a printout of the stats. That's how I know that T5 is my nemesis. So, I've got: th5/16 x2 ti5/16 ti5/14 x2 ti5/12 ti5/10 x2 tr5/12 tr5/10 tr5/14 ty5/16 ty5/22 Going to bed with but a single word hanging over me is unacceptable. Grrrr.

10:47 pm

Doogle, if you're still around, here are my t's: th4x3 th5x2 th6 ti4x3 ti5x6 ti6x2 tr4x3 tr5x3 tr7 tu4x2 ty4x3 ty5x2 ty6x2 Any luck yet?

10:49 pm

looks like i have a th5 you don't. they're both common words, spelled the same except for the penultimate letter

10:50 pm

what's the mi6 that's not the bishop's hat?

10:50 pm

And from your list, looks like my missing t is not a t5 after all. Wah!

10:51 pm

it's what the bishop is after he's been given the hat!

10:55 pm

on a closer look, doogle, looks like we might have all the same t5s... i'm getting addlepated over here!

10:56 pm

sfneil - 'fraid both those Th5s were on my list. Your T list is, sad to say, identical to mine. <grimace>

10:58 pm

Well, it looks like "Wordly Wise," one of our new players from across the pond, methinks, got stumped at 175. "Maybe the stats are wrong," I shout, hopefully.

11:00 pm

Hold on, doogle, I got it!!!! It's actually a type of food fidh apparently, but if you think of the ty plural you led me to earlier, it could be their victims!

11:01 pm

er... "food fish"

11:02 pm

Oh, man.... that was almost worth it! Ecstatic right now. 176 words for 2579 points. Pouring myself a scotch!

11:04 pm

sfneil - congrats! So, it's a ty5?

11:07 pm

Doogle, it is indeed! it's a ty5/16, as you suspected all along. No 'c', though. It's the title of a Melville novel without the 'p'.

11:08 pm

Oh and with an extra letter at the end.

11:09 pm

Dude you have to let me know when you get it. You've just got to get it! I'll be checking! You were so much help to me! Thanks!

11:12 pm

Fish caught! Nasty little bugger! If I ever get a chance to eat one of these suckers I'm gonna go for it! Thanks, sfneil! See you tomorrow. Doogle

11:13 pm

Right on, man! Enjoy your dessert!

11:16 pm

thanks sfneil - any help with the si4 that's not what you call a king and the si5 that's not its past tense?

11:22 pm

syncopate - Si4/7 is a trig function, and the Si5 is informally used for emphasis after 'yes' or 'no'.

11:22 pm

syncopate, hard one to give a clue for without actually spelling it out... the definition is a "hyperbolic function of an angle". It sounds like what priests don't like it when you do, with a sneaky silent letter on the end. Hope that helps... I'm outta here now, having spent way too much time trying to find a fish!

11:31 pm

When the puzzle is done, and you review the previous day's stats, where do you find the list of all words?

11:34 pm

Go to archives to choose which days puzzle you want, then click on a players name. You will get their list for that puzzle.

11:38 pm

but how will I find all the words I missed? By clicking on someone's name who got them all, maybe?

11:41 pm

Nicole, that's right. I've only been here a few days (and lord knows how much of my life I'll spend here!), but every day I've been here there have been people who have completely solved the puzzle. If you click on their names in the results, you'll get the full list of words.

11:47 pm

wow. just a measley 80 words. I think I'm throwing the towel in now.

11:49 pm

thanks so much guys - I'm four short and trying hard to complete one. If I'm not asking for too much, I'm missing two r's and don't know what to look for: re4x4 re5x5 re6x4 re7 ri4x4 ri5x2 ru4x2

11:56 pm

you're looking for an re4 and re6

11:58 pm

suncopate, youre' missing an re4 and an re6

11:58 pm

Oops! I mean syncopate, of course, wanted to get the info out as soon as possible!
