12:04 am

t8/65

12:04 am

my good news isnt' so palatable...... I have fibromyalgia and can't work. I have regular assessments by the government. Today, they said they don't need to assess me for another 3 years! I'm so pleased. They assess me every year and it's not nice.

12:05 am

That is great news.... fibromyagia is a real pain. I have bouts of it now but am sure that it will never really go away.

12:05 am

blaze - you got it too? I have hypermobility aswell. double whammy!

12:06 am

Babbler - here's to the next 3 assessment free years :)

12:06 am

good thing you can have some peace and quiet and get on with your every day life. that is what is most important

12:07 am

Blaze, hit refresh, and your words will show

12:08 am

Dianne, Blaze -- I can't express how much of a relief it is!!! : D xxxxxxxxx

12:08 am

thank you I am all refreshed now

12:08 am

Morning babblers... I missed the game!

12:11 am

hey sprite!

12:12 am

Good news, babbler! Congrats. Is the beta slow for you all too?

12:12 am

its not slow for me

12:13 am

w7/52

12:13 am

Better do a reboot then - back soon!

12:14 am

you people getting big words this quickly!!! : )))) thx sprite! beta not too bad at the minute. but if it goes loopy loo, I'll switch to normal........

12:17 am

I can't seem to find anything BUT w-words since I started. I'm confused about this w7/52 though :)

12:21 am

Ah, found it! Can't say I've heard that word before, though. :)

12:22 am

how about a little clue then?

12:24 am

Hmm... Its the plural form of a long, flexible twig. Hope I didn't give away too much. :)

12:25 am

ooh! i got the 7/52!

12:26 am

I haven't!! ....................

12:29 am

Ok... There's a Native American intramural basketball team called the "Fighting _______", the w7/52 word is an easy anagram of the blank. :)

12:29 am

it also means wiry and agile

12:30 am

T8 65

12:31 am

clamwacker... pwrrrrrrffff, if you're american!! I'm british! and I don't even know about football! and I'm a girrrrrrl!! oh dear.......... boo hoooo

12:32 am

Completely stumped on the t8/65 Louigi mentioned, tho.

12:33 am

G7/32, S8/60, S9/78! Find the right ending and you have them all.

12:34 am

Babbler, I said basketball. :) How did you know I'm American tho? :)

12:37 am

Clamwacker -- we don't play basketball in the UK.... and the only country I know that does is the US. anyway -- basketball, football, it's all the same!!! guys disappear in their zone and that's the last you see of them......

12:37 am

Hmm.. I thought our "Dream Team" got spanked by some other country during the last Olympics? Somebody else must be playing basketball. :)

12:38 am

W7/48 I have... where is that 52 hiding then!

12:38 am

I'm clueless!!! I missed the Olympics!!! I was probably watching Big Brother........ : )

12:38 am

Got 'em Sprite - good spot!

12:39 am

Fellow Babblers, I've made a couple more changes to the site. Most notably is the addition of a "dev log" that describes the latest changes (and what I'm currently working on.) I'll update the dev log from now on whenever I make changes to the site. You can view the dev log by clicking the link at the bottom of the right sidebar.

12:40 am

The G7/32 I see but the S8 & S9 are hiding.

12:41 am

Thanks, Dr_God, it is coming along wonderfully!

12:43 am

B7/48 - 8/65 combo from India

12:43 am

Forgot to mention that only Beta Babblers will see the changes, and you have to reload your browser page to see the changes.

12:44 am

Guess the beta is a little slow because you are working on it, Dr_God. Love the changes!

12:44 am

Dianne, they're very close to the G7, and use the same ending, like Sprite said.

12:48 am

I never would've guessed the B7/8 without that mention of India.

12:51 am

Got 110 words, and I'm about ready for a list of how many I'm searching for. Hey Debs, if you're there...:)

12:51 am

I am in dire need for stats, so here they are: 9 x 1 8 x 3 7 x 6 6 x 19 5 x 50 4 x 90 --- 169 words --- B -- 4 D -- 10 E -- 11 F -- 6 G -- 12 H -- 21 i -- 4 L -- 2 N -- 1 S -- 42 T -- 24 U -- 2 W -- 30

12:52 am

GMTA, smithchick ;)

12:53 am

Sprite & Clamwacker - got the S8 & S9 when I looked in the right palce. Thanks.

12:53 am

Thanks, Sprite! It appears I don't speak computer lingo...What does GMTA mean? I need educated.

12:55 am

Lol... Great Minds Think Alike, like ours ;) Must be telepathy.

12:55 am

Apparently, your great mind thinks better than mine!

12:56 am

List so far, I gotta go for now. :) b7 48 b8 65 f4 7 f5 18 f4 7 f6 30 g7 32 h5 18 l4 4 n4 4 s4 4 s4 7 s4 5 s5 14 s8 60 s9 78 t4 4 t4 7 t5 18 t4 5 t5 14 t5 12 t4 5 w4 7 w4 10 w5 22 w5 22 w6 36 w4 8 w4 7 w5 18 w4 10 w7 52 w4 7 w4 7 35 words/672 points so far. My problem is that I never look for the shorter words once I get searching for the big ones that other people mention. You guys who have over a hundred words in an hour are CRAZY. :)

12:59 am

Nah, just made stats, haven't finished yet! Just found one of those irritating small words I always hunt for for ages... H4/7 does me in as a foreigner every time.

1:04 am

Ok before I go... does it tell you when you've found every word in the puzzle? I haven't done that one yet :)

1:06 am

clamwacker -- no, it doesn't tell you anything!!! proper anti-climax! xxxx

1:06 am

Nope, not yet, could be an idea for Dr_God! But the stats are quite accurate, I believe only the Q can create problems. So find 169 words and you will finish this grid!

1:12 am

I think the "Q" should become "Qu", unless there will be Arabic interpretations of words (or other languages that use Q without U following it). The B7/8 words you mentioned earlier aren't in dictionary.com or m-w.com as they are spelled. However, I found an alternative spelling (the "ie" becomes "ee", and also just "i" for a 6-letter variation, to avoid giving too much away) on dictionary.com.

1:14 am

Guess that is where it comes in handy to be no native speaker. I usually try every combination that looks remotely like it could be a word, or like it could be something I have seen before here. Looked it up and you are right, spelling seems to be off.

1:14 am

I forgot to add, none of the variations I mentioned actually work here. They're just different interpretations of Indian words, sort of like how you see different Middle Eastern cities spelled differently depending on where you read them. Nasiriya in Iraq has been spelled as "al-Nasiriyaa", "Nasiriah," "Nasiriyah," etc. Ok, gotta go for now :)

1:16 am

the b7/8 words are in my scrabble dictionary

1:16 am

Hey Sprite - willing to drop any hints on that W7/48? It's quickly becoming my nemesis!

1:17 am

I think you can spell this combo almost anyway you please, too bad only one way works here!

1:17 am

Do you have the T7-8 combo? It's very close to that!

1:19 am

Doogle - I'll trade you a hint - for one for the W7/52.

1:19 am

Drat - no! My nemeses are multiplying... Okay, I'll go hunting. :(

1:20 am

For those Ts, think of what you could be doing with your thumbs in stead of babbling :)

1:21 am

Dianne - it's a kinda cutesy sounding completion of a common W4 found here...

1:23 am

W7/52: long flexible twigs, as those of an osier, or trees or shrubs having such twigs.

1:23 am

Thanks, Sprite! Was somehow avoiding going into that corner.

1:25 am

There are many delightful endings in that corner... you'll love it there! ;) 169 words / 4.73 / 2361 points it is and I'd better go do something useful now. Good hunting to all of you!

1:27 am

g4/8 x2!

1:27 am

Bye Sprite, I should be getting out of here, too, but knowing me, I'll be limping through another day with no sleep again. At least it's Saturday Tomorrow (tonight).

1:27 am

Congrats, Sprite! How was your retreat?

1:30 am

Any hints/definitions for the b7 & b/8 my last long ones

1:30 am

Sure. He just got 2361 points in 87 minutes, and now he's pretending that he's human, instead of a robot dictionary monster planning to conquer the Earth. :)

1:31 am

the hint was earlier word starts bh and then the plural

1:35 am

Not only that, but English isn't even her first language. Humbling, ain't it! Practice, practice, practice!

1:35 am

W7/52 - flexible twigs? I need some to beat myself with - I can't see this monster anywhere.

1:37 am

Dianne - rhymes with what students attending a prominent all-women's college are called.

1:37 am

is that a US all women's college?

1:38 am

Yep, in New England.

1:39 am

what is the name of that college. I am Canadian and do not know that one.

1:41 am

Anyone done with their h's? I'm missing one.

1:50 am

I'm only missing one also, smithchick. Damned if I can find another! I've got He4 x4 He5 x2 Hi4 x6 Hi5 x2 Hi6 x1 Hu4 x4 Hu6 x1

Got it, Smithchick. Nope, that sure wasn't one I'd thought of trying! Thanks!

2:12 am

2:16 am

11 E words?? Grumble grumble grumble.

2:16 am

I've gotta go, too. I'm literally falling asleep at my computer. Sad life. The good news is that tomorrow I'll only have to find 33. Yeehaw! (I am from Arkansas, you know) Bye Doogle!

2:18 am

I just got my skirt off eBay!! And it's a perfect fit!! wooooo! Oh, got 80 words. Gonna go and sleep now. Nighty night! Or morning morning, should I say! (almost 8.20am, UK time)

2:18 am

11 e words i can not find one

2:18 am

Was away from the pc for a while, sorry! The retreat was great, Doogle, thanks. LOL @ Clamwacker This robot is going to conquer her home - been away 5 days and sure looks like another planet to me now! What's this thing with men and kids that they can rebuild an entire place in less than a week, but can't clear a room in a lifetime??

2:18 am

I havent' found any Es, either........

2:19 am

I've found a common e4/5 and related e5/12, 2 uncommon e4/5s, and can't even imagine what the remaining 7 might be.

2:21 am

Oh... glad I am not the only one who has trouble with that h4/7 :D AND with the Es - they are there, and most aren't even too strange, but somehow vowel words always seem to be harder to me.

2:22 am

E4 x7, E5x3, E6

2:23 am

Sorry about that... guess my finger trembled when clicking the mouse... didn't mean to repeat myself.

11:36 am

boysaway: bh 7 48 bh 8 65 bi 4 6 bi 5 14

11:36 am

Okay what's the big secret with the b7 & b8? People keep asking for clues but no one answers. Does nobody have them??

11:37 am

boys: the other 8 is a t8 which is what you might be doing with your thumbs while waiting for something like a jolt of inspiration *lol*

11:38 am

Thanks Sandbox, good clue!

11:39 am

jera bh7 & 8 sounds like the name of the band who had the hit "you gotta fight for your right to party"

11:39 am

Sorry boysaway, read your message wrong! The 3rd 8 is an s8. Like your s9 but missing a letter :)

HELP! What am I missing? he5 16 he4 7 he4 10 he5 22 he4 7 he4 10 hi4 8 hi5 18 hi4 8 hi4 7 hi4 7 hi6 30 hi4 7 hi4 7 hu4 8 hu6 30 hu4 8 hu4 7 hu4 7

11:52 am

Stop it Anj!!!!!! e4/5 the word starts with e, has four letters and a score of 5 :)

boysaway- sounds like the past tense of your hi4/8 :)

11:55 am

Thanks Daria, got it! One more?

11:57 am

Sorry if it's already been asked four or five times today, but what's the two-letters-and-a-number code all about (bh7 for example)? Is the H the second letter, or the last letter, or am I way off?

11:57 am

boysaway- there are 3 x hi4/7 :)

11:57 am

hi4/7 boysaway :)

11:58 am

melton it's the second letter

11:58 am

Aargh! Make that a total of 5 x hi4/7!

11:59 am

Melton, you're heading in the right direction. bh 7/56 is a word that begins bh, has 7 letters, and is worth 56 points.

11:59 am

Surely 4x hi4/7 ?!

Anyone have a breakdown of the T words? I'm missing one but don't know which one.

9:55 pm

10:05 pm

complete list: bh/7 x 1 bh/8 x 1 bi/4 x 1 bi/5 x 1 di/4 x 6 di/5 x 1 di/6 x 2 di/7 x 1 ed/4 x 1 ed/5 x 1 eg/4 x 1 eg/5 x 1 eg/6 x 1 el/4 x 2 es/4 x 1 et/4 x 2 et/5 x 1 fu/4 x 3 fu/5 x 2 fu/6 x 1 ge/4 x 3 ge/5 x 2 ge/6 x 1 gh/4 x 2 gh/5 x 1 gu/5 x 1 gu/6 x 1 gu/7 x 1 he/4 x 4 he/5 x 2 hi/4 x 7 hi/5 x 2 hi/6 x 1 hu/4 x 4 hu/6 x 1 id/4 x 2 id/5 x 2 le/4 x 2 nu/4 x 1 se/4 x 5 se/5 x 1 sh/4 x 2 sh/5 x 3 sh/6 x 1 si/4 x 5 si/5 x 7 si/6 x 3 si/8 x 1 si/9 x 1 st/4 x 2 st/5 x 3 su/4 x 3 su/5 x 2 su/6 x 1 sw/5 x 2 te/4 x 3 th/4 x 5 th/5 x 3 th/6 x 2 ti/4 x 3 ti/5 x 2 tu/4 x 3 tw/4 x 1 tw/7 x 1 tw/8 x 1 us/4 x 2 we/4 x 3 we/5 x 1 wh/4 x 4 wh/5 x 4 wh/6 x 1 wi/4 x 6 wi/5 x 5 wi/6 x 3 wi/7 x 2 wu/4 x 1

10:08 pm

tedybeth - Thanks I found the full list after scrolling down half way. Finally finished them off. Now hunting for some Es, Ds & 1 S (I think).

10:11 pm

your welcome, Dianne!! I'm still looking for that one Si 5 that is hiding from me!! The very last word and I do need to sleep sometime .... lol

10:15 pm

tedy - which si 5, maybe I can help.

10:16 pm

JAX -- as near as I can figure out - I need a Si 5/12 I have two of them - the one about stepping sideways; and the one about a tactic used in war any help would be wonderful !!!

10:17 pm

Ho tedybeth & Jax. I signed out hours ago full-scored. Can I help with any clues?

10:18 pm

I'm missing a wi 6/30, I have the one related to span. Ideas? suggestions. that and a w 5/24 and I'm done!

10:19 pm

Tedy - do you have the plural for the si 4/5?

10:20 pm

Both w5/24s have but a single vowel.

10:21 pm

Ok, got the 5/24 now I need the 6/30. whoo hoo

10:21 pm

Wi6/30 can be a synonym for the U4/4

10:22 pm

tdey - there is also a si 5/10, latin word, usually used in the singular in the sense of in si..

10:22 pm

Oh, JAX, -- THANK YOU -- of course it had to be somethhing that simple --that was it --- and I probably looked at it a dozen times and assumed I had typed it in ..... duh ... even with looking at my list over & over, -- I told you it was hiding from me!!! Thanks again .... Now can sleep and hopefull not dream about letters in a grid!!

10:22 pm

wi 6/30 is the plural of your wi5/18.

10:23 pm

I have that one doogle, isn't there another wi 6/30?

10:23 pm

Anyone else need anything before I hit the sack?

10:24 pm

lol tedy - those are always the ones I miss too! Have a good sleep!

10:24 pm

Yes, it's a past tense (I assume) of an undefined w4/7

10:26 pm

Ok, I have the wi 6/30 (synonym for u 4/4) and the wi 6/33. There is another wi 6, I think it is a 6/30. That is the one I am stuck on. Or isn't it another 6/30?

10:27 pm

Jax - Yep, it's a Wi6/30 for sure. Just put your w4/7 in the past.

10:28 pm

Doogle - yest, past tense, so add 'ed' to the word.

10:32 pm

well *****. I have 3 more words to go! I thought I was done. But I couldn't find that elusive w 4/7 so I guessed, so then got the w 6/30. Now what the heck do I need? Cra#@

10:33 pm

Incidentally , re definitions, it's probably a German word.

10:34 pm

Wistfully suggested, Jacula! ;)

10:36 pm

Any help out there for the WI7/52 and the EL4 (not the old one)?

10:37 pm

As far as I can ascertain it comes from the name of a famous German uni lecturer who was very knowledgeable. It's prob. a newish Germanic word meaning 'wise'.

10:37 pm

Dianne - el4/7 - designed for use in grades 1-12.

10:39 pm

Jacula - OSPD has it defined as "to wish"

10:39 pm

wi 52, long flexible twig. variation in the spelling. Ok, NOW I'm done. Missed 3 e's, but got them. Phew!

10:40 pm

oh, and plural

10:42 pm

Has it Doogle? That's interesting.

10:48 pm

Jax - I've been looking for that long, flexible thing since yesterday afternoon with no luck. Got anything else to point me in the right direction?

10:56 pm

Dianne - if you are not alone you are 'wi**' someone. Add a short form of the plural of 'in other words' to that and, hey presto, you've got it!

11:04 pm

Twiddling my fingers here; want the new puzzle! LOL. Never mind, got a great rock cd playing into my headphones.

11:05 pm

I need a ge5 and ge6 that keep hiding from me

11:06 pm

also looking for an e6

11:07 pm

ge/5 actually means a dry place but you might be more familiar with the 'ge' label on bananas?

11:12 pm

ge6 is actually the plural of a prose of verse romance or tale. However, I could just say that if you had people staying with you for the weekend they would be 'Gu**ts'. The word you seek doesn't use you and, eeh, it uses another vowel twixt last letter singular and last letter plural.

11:14 pm

Your e6/21 is a plural (see previous clue about plurals) for one of your e4's.

11:15 pm

Jacula - thank you - I was going to the wrong H for that W7 word. Your help was great.

11:15 pm

Actually, thinking about it, it's a past tense not a plural.

11:17 pm

Dianne - glad to help.

11:17 pm

Any clues for the EL that doesn't have to do with old?

11:17 pm

Whew! Jacula, that was a LONG way around but I got the ge5 & 6. Thank you!

11:19 pm

That's okay Gwen. Everyone sorted now until next babblegrid (like the jabberwock) hits us?

11:23 pm

Dianne - Sorry! Meant to reply to you. The meaning is:'Of, relating to, involving, or designed for use in grades 1 to 12' but that's not very helpful, is it? To be honest, it sounds more to me like something from Lord of the Rings!

11:24 pm

Erm, how can I lead you there? Hoping you do crosswords, I will try ' A Spanish top ranker'.

11:25 pm

I know you'll get the first par, 'el'. Now just drop 2 letters off the second part you are trying.

11:26 pm

Jacula - I fould the EL - thanks. Now I just need to S words to finish. I think it is a SI5 and a SE5 going by the list posted a while ago. Any really odd ones? Or the very, very obvious that I might be over looking? I've got the grabbing words, the next to you words and the seeing word but..

11:29 pm

Dianne how about the position of a body part si5?

11:30 pm

Your si5 might be what a number of people might say to a head waiter , not very correctly, if they all wanted to sit down.

11:31 pm

sandbox - that's what I'm trying to lead her to.

11:32 pm

As for the the lost se5, add an 'e' to one of your se4's.

11:34 pm

Jacula - you are terrific. Great clue - got the SI5. Thanks.

11:38 pm

Jacula, Thank you so much. I got the SE word. Felt like I was playing Beat The Clock. Thank you and all that helped me finish. Can't wait for the next one :)

11:41 pm

Yeah! Way to go and all that! Next poser soon. Bet Doctor God will make it a child of unmarried parents one for this UK Bank Holiday! 600+ words???? Dunno how many one of those grids can support. EEK!

11:44 pm

Hello Dr. God. Have mercy on us poor earthlings, please. (Flutter, flutter - that's the eyelashes.)

11:45 pm

I sure hope not - tomorrow is a work day in Hong Konge so I just get this afternoon and bit of tomorrow morning to puzzle it out.

11:46 pm

Well, Dianne, we have 13 or 14 mins to fnd that out.

11:47 pm

Just under the wire! Finis !!! Thanks for all the help. Now, back to 7:02am where tbear said di5 was French for 'say'. I found the word, but still can't find a french dictionary. LOL

11:49 pm

dite, Gwen.

11:50 pm

plus dit, dites, etc.

11:53 pm

If it's nothing else, this is a multilingual puzzle! Having said that, most of the word here can be found in either the Oxford or Collins' (big) dictionaries, if you don't know them. That's the great thing about the English language, as i was sayinf a day or two ago, it embraces so much.

11:58 pm

2 mins! LOL. At least I'm not counting down peeps trying to finish puzzle this time.

12:00 am

OOps 0 mins. Too Late! New brainbuster.
