BrandyJack - you were sorely missed at the start of the babble day
cathy- ******* powers, international man of man of mystery plus three letters :)
well my other pi9 is a plural of pi8 and its to do with small calcite rocks ?
au9 - A nonmagnetic solid solution of ferric carbide or carbon in iron, used in making corrosion-resistant steel.
Morning all! Is there really an nal4? I didn't know any words started with nal
gingerboydave87/821
I was crashed. Tore a deck apart yesterday. Rusty musculature is now complaining, plus I have a stinking migraine from it.
Cathy22w the au9 is the a place in texas with an 4 letter ending
Jen- no, sorry that was a mistake. It's a na :)
Thanks! That was troubling me... not that 300 words isn't troubling enough! LOL
well good to see you!
I na 4/5 my son all the time! :-)
fankoo!!!... lol... that words makes me cringe
The size of today's puzzle is just right. Will keep my mind off the migraine. Promises to be a challenge finding all those nice large words.....
Right, how's everyone doing on the E's? (have you noticed that I am quietly ignoring the S's and T's?). I have eg x 4, el x 6, en x 2, eo x 1, ep x 4, et x 2 and ex x 1. Anyone have the five I am missing?
think you are the fisrt person to be happy with the size of today word list, hope the head feels better soon.
I've only got 5 Es :( It's just not happening today :'(
I've got 3 x ex
Anj - probably too many choc drops and tummy rubs!! lol
brandyjack- you are lucky, my migraines tend to put me out of action. Let us know if you want any help (just had to say that! How often do we get the opportunity to help bj?!)
Very true Lola!!!
Thanks chris p :)
This one will put me out of action too. But it'll be about 7 hours before that happens. In the meantime, anything that serves as a distraction is welcome. This puzzle promises to be a bigger pain for a short while at least.
Feels that way.... Think I may have to go lay down in my basket for a while
thankfully am down under the 200s now.... only just! 198 to go... augh!!!!!!!!!! i have things to do, people to see, places to go....

Mines a iPaq hx2750... I've asked Dr_God for a PDA version of Babble! I'm the only one who's asked though :(
brandyjack - I salute you, and thank you. lol
Thank you brandjack :)
brandyjack, thanks for the early breakdown, sure is going to help today. Hope your headache is better.
ginger - i actually pondered it on the board a few days ago too! it would be good to have a version where oyu plug the words in, and it updates when you connect it to a computer
Thanks FMitch! Just the shove I needed! :)
sounds good Cathy... fortunately my PDA is WiFi so I can play real time at home or where there is a hotspot.
I have an old Ipaq 3850 and a Dell X5, both of which are extremely hard on batteries when wireless. Planning on buying a new Dell Xv50 as soon as one shows up in the pawn shop. They are much nicer than the old ones and the built in wireless is easier on the battery.
i suppose i would get wifi if it were worth my while!
MIne is wireless too - Babble doesn't download right though - it would be nice to have it on my phone/PDA but I wonder how truly slow it would be
i have a dell x3 - i love it
Thanks brandyjack - let's see if I can count correctly today!
Mine is built in Brandyjack... but it can be hard on the batteries... I am looking into getting an extended life battery for mine.
Thanks for the latest help, Brandijack

Hello all. Well, today's puzzle seems to be full of body parts. We did have a laugh at the kitchen table when my other half found the 'gspot' and the grid didn't like it!
What were you doing at the kitchen table hmmmm?
Looking at the babblegrid, Macadam. What else?;-) (We write it out and find as many words on paper as we can before typing them in on the computer.)

Sorry Sherb. LOL.
Do I believe this excellent excuse?Yes because I do the same thing!

sfneil - I desperately need cluez and/or definitions for my last st5 - I already have st5/10x7, st5/12x2 & st5/14... Many thanx in advance...
Get this: I found my missing un5 (it's plural of a un4), but it is definitely NOT in the puzzle! Trippy!

oops forgot to number the last one -- total of ten
well crap i messed that up completely by including all my st5s and forgetting to provide a definition for one the definition i left out is sandpiper or length of time spent doing something
Movieman- the se 5. clue given earlier. If you received a package from me, I must have se.. it. add a vowel to that word
I've been playing for a few weeks now and I must say, I'm out of my league with all of you. I've been busting my hump all day and only have 168 out of 373. I never realized how lax my vocab skills are and it's really depressing. :D
suebhoney - you are not alone really! I struggle most of the time and have only ever finished one. But as they say its the taking part that counts.
Suebhoney - you are definately not alone. But also you learn that certain words repeat and that makes it somewhat easier.
I have one ni4 -- things some people pick. Any clues to the other ni4 and the ni5?
Awww, thanks for the kind support. I certainly didn't mean that my disappointment in myself would lead me to stop trying. I'm always up for a good challenge.
can anyone help with a Po6/24? my last word Not hemlock not what salk vaccine is used to prevent not showing consideration for others
sfneil a disco type spelling for after dark and its plural
suebhoney, I thought I was really smart, but I failed the Mensa test and most of the time I'm in the middle of the rankings here, even though I watch Jeopardy like a fanatic.
snowyowl, thanks! Had no idea those would be accepted.
I just have four more words to go - an lo5, pi4, st5 & un6 - any assistance would be gratefully received...
urw sfneil I found them just before u asked!
MM can you have a look at my 7.03 post please?
kallia - If u remember watching "Happy Days" - the po24 is the nickname of one of Richie Cunningham's friends...
Thanks MM :) LO5...possibly to yearn with an added vowel? tell me what you have if it isnt that one
pi4...maybe its just so easy :) again if not list them
Kallia - re my missing lo5 - I have the one you mentioned, along with the berry (and Wolverine's (X-Men) real name) to the one that means to yearn for... Many thanx...
Does anyone have a clue for a 9 letter word please? I have au9 ge9 pi9 and a to9 I believe its another pi9 I'm looking for

Kallia - Re my missing st5/10 - I have all the ones sfneil mentioned in his earlier posts except for the support device...Plz help me...
LO an abbreviation for a girls name... buy this at an aution plus a musical note....
movieman the support device is used surgically -- it's spelled just like the st5 meaning duration of time doing something, only with a different middle vowel
I had better get to bed...anymore help needed before I go?
clue for the pi9 that's NOT limestone? Plz?

Not me and I don't think I have the stamina to finish it either!
goodnight kallia thanks for the help
yegads! I am only at 277 words! Hubby has been at this all day! Guess we are doomed. :(
Believe it or not, I do have another life besides Babble, I knew I wouldn't get all the words. I only managed 107/2145, but I'm off to bed now.
Goodnight, Kallia, thanks!
I am missing a bunch. But could anyone give me help on these 7's? An7, LI 7, ST 7 and Ti 7. I know they might be plurals, but I might not have their singulars either. Thank you. I will share if I can!
Jax, i've only got a couple of thos: li7/28 - close relationship, connection or link ti7/32 - you use grout when you put these up in the bathroom/kitchen - verb it will give you a 6 and a 7 letter word
ty anj - I found the li just when I asked. But I totally missed the ti. Had the ti 6, but not the 7. thanks
y/w - I will chirp if I find the others :)
Anj - got the an. It is the state of being one of your an 5's. Or resembling an old woman. So now I just need the st 7
Well goodnight - I've got just over half way but have to stop. Good luck to you all
Goodnight, snowyowl... thanks again!
Cheers Jax, got that one too. The st6 & st7 - take what your bee does and put a hoop on the end ;) Then make it plural...
Good evening - I am missing one U - help would be appreciated - here is what I have: un 4 4 un 5 12 un 4 4 un 5 10 un 6 18 un 5 10 un 5 16 ut 5 10 ut 7 40 ut 6 24 ut 7 36
Well I'm calling it quits at 355. Hubby needs the computer and I need a life I guess. Sigh. Good luck to all. And thanks tons!
Debluvsmusic, you won't believe this until you try it, but the un you're missing is a un5, and it's not even in the puzzle. It's plural of one of your un4s... type it in and be amazed!
Deb-- Not fair, I can't catch up if you keep playing while I'm gone.
Nice one, sfneil :) It's in there tho'...reads to the right
Is that you sista She
yes, get on IM
thx sfneil - great clue!
D'oh! Sometimes I am just blind!!
Tell me about it :/ I'm down to my last 20 words and they are obvious ones...or so it seems lol
..for example, i've only just found the ne4/4 that fisherman use rofl oh dear....
That's what happens when you concentrate on the big words first...
yes, now I'm missing a to5. I have to5s with the following defintions: sheer fabric chemical compound relating to sound sounds island country kitchen utensils body fitness sassaby or pith helmet motifs any ideas?
I wish I could say that Jera, but I always go for the obvious 4s first lol Might have to change tactics...
How do I play??????
My mistake, I thought you were with the British early birds that used that tactic... makes my head spin at 2am (here)!
Looks like I just missed snowyowl... :(
sfneil, looks like you've nailed them all to me
Fitz, click on Babble rules, top right :)
Actually Jera I just came back! My 2 o'clock rule has gone to pot but I couldn't leave until Ireached the 200 after all. Like the new icon
Anj, met, too... but the word count says there are ten.
er "me, too"
sfneil, i'm only showing to x 9 on Brandyjack's 2nd letter posting. All my Ts are greyed out...
Arrrgh!! My blindness again! Read brandyjack's post wrong... and wasted all that time! Yipes
Got to 202/2892 at 2.30 Iam really going now.
It is a to4 I am missing. Ugh.
Found it! t's are finally done! Hooray!
yay! I've just had to re-enter 3 Ns that I could have sworn I entered about 3 hours ago. I must be going nuts %)
Snowyowl... we keep missing each other... I had to go check on an ebay auction!
Anj... Babble will do that to ya! Better to realize it now instead of after puzzle closes...
lol Jera Just found my last p...the p6 that wicked witches traditionally do to shiny apples. I think i'm a basket case...
Thaaaaar she blows :) 373 5686 woo-hoo!
Congrats, Anj! Can't believe I still have 57 words to find!!
Wow, folks. That was a toughie! Thanks for all the help. Nite-nite. And see y'all tomorra....
You still got over 3 hours sfneil...that's 19 an hour :)
'nite CSA
It's nearly 3am here - anyone need a pointer before I curl up for the night?
This one took me all day, between reading the paper, going to the zoo, playing with the dog, feeding the hubby, looking after the Monster Baby.... Ah, this moment of sweetest satisfaction!
no feeling like coming around the last bend and seeing the ol' checkered flag :)
Even better is that the night is young enough to poke my head into a book and even check out some OTHER websites....
Good point! Well that's me then. See you on tomorrow's log :) 'bye for now
I am strugling with the last lo5. I have what is defined as a city in Utah, a 4th lunge in fencing, and yearns. Could I have a clue for the 4th lo?
fit your last lo5 is defined as "fishes having large mouths with a wormlike filament attached for luring prey" it's spelled like a state-run gambling game with a different last vowel
I am not seeing the li7. Help, please?
Could anyone provide clues for the ai 5/10 and the na 7/28. Please
ai5/10 is a kind of sauce - often it is lemon flavored -
na7/28 is the plural of Captain Nemo's ship - it ends in a vowel
this is official ai/5 definition : rich sauce of crushed garlic, egg yolks, lemon juice, and olive oil
ai5 contains only one consonant
got the a,g.t 9 what am i missing?
onyx you're missing two pi9s
CBR how are you today??.....I am back here to play some more and await the new puzzle.
Thanks cbr 1965 and sfneil. Got them. I think I should have started a little earlier. I read the chat for the turpentine definition of the ga8/55 but it is still eluding me. Got another clue?
Hi Blaze - I'm doing well - haven't played much today which doesn't bode well for my ultimate score in this huge puzzle - soccer games and birthday parties kind of consumed my day - how was your weekend?
ga8 is plural of ga7/40, if you've got that
Csmith - I think that is the only 9 I don't have yet and I did try to find it earlier in the day but not again tonight
thanx sfneil
CBR my weekend has been great... puttered around yesterday including puzzle time.... has an afternoon with youngest grandaughter (1yr) and daughter...went to park and played had dinner and they have left and I am here..... also celebrated my 22nd wedding anniversary...
Hey congrats on the anniversary - I just had my 9th - sounds like you had a fun one - mine was incredibly hectic but fun too!
li7? ...bueller? ...anyone?
li 7 a go between
heh. thanks, onyx JUST found it as you typed that!
sfneil - found the pi8 and 9 if you still need it
thanks, cbr, but I'm set on those
Cbr if not I would love a peek at the clue
Two part word: 1. leaning tower of Pi__ (almost) li4/4
limestone rock
Sorry sfneil - it was Csmith who needed them
Sorry, cbr 1965 but the g8/55 and g7/40 are eluding me. Any hint for the an 7/40?
Somehow, though, I am missing a pi7. I have the one that is the plural of things stacking up, any lead on the other?
I would give it to you if I had it - I'm only at 225 words tonight so far
Do you have the gun-related pi7?
That was exaly what I needed! Thanks so much cbr!
an7/40 is a form of the an5/10
thanks cbr 1965 and I had the p's already
I am so confused - I need to reread before sending to make sure I answer the right person!
cbr I always appreciate your clear clues...... I do know what you mean about confusing... you can sometimes have several posts at the same time and they do get confusing..... I try to indicate who the answer is for.... (try being the key word)
Happens to me, too cbr. Between trying to solve the puzzle and keeping up with chat/clues, it gets confusing! Right now I'm missing exactly one l, don't have the brainpower to go back and count to figure out what's missing, but am not willing to give up with only 23 words to go!
Do you know the count of the one you are missing or the second letter?
sfneil good for you.... I have only cracked 137 words and just plodding on....
It is hard when it is a few at a time but I am going to try to put the correct name on each post!
cbr - we really appreciate the assistance. Don't beat yourself up.
someone IM me on AIM and give me the answers: imyourpois0n
oh this is frustrating. It keeps sticking and refusing to move.
calicomo refresh your page....
Okay if I haven't gone completely insane, it looks like my missing l is an la5. I have the one t is the plural of what you find in bowling alleys or on freeways. Any hints to the other?
think new years...... Olde L Syne
la5/16 is All those persons who are not members of a given profession or other specialized field. I thi
oops you said La 5 that is probably NOT right clue sorry
You so righteously rock, cbr!!!! Thank you!
My L is grey! Hallelujah!
glad to help
Nowhere near finishing, but would like to get the big ones. sp8/55 x 2 and to8/55 clues anyone?
what you do to the child when you spare the rod plus an ing
i gave up on this puzzle about 6 oclock, just came back to see if I could find ONE more word...
sp 8/55 add to sp 5/14 is one.....
hello Lian glad to see you back... Has your hubby left yet ??
thx cbr. And I had the base word! Head smack!
blaze, hiya..he is in Alabama working hurricane claims...and we arent married...
he will be gone maybe 6 mos..ack
One of the to8/55 is based on your to4/4 (musical one with diff end vowel) with an ending common in today's puzzle
OOOPs hope is well and stays safe....
blaze..ty, he is my fiance..:)
cbr: Is there more than 1 to8/55? I got other sp8. Had that base word too!
hi, CB..you southern belle you. I am way far behind.. i think i have like 200 and some words..and am too tired to care..LOL
There is only one to8
HI lianakate - I only have 231 so we are about even! As usual it is the 4-letter ones I have trouble with!
There are 3 x sp8/55. I had the rod one, added a similar sounding one (different vowel), and still need a 3rd. Anyone?
Confused here -- I have a sp7/40 that's a wooden support but don't see how to make it plural. Can anyone provide further definition for the sp8?
any clues for the 9 letter word..with the PI..i have the limestone one..
If you'll tell give me clues to the base word I'll help make it plural!
look at my 10:25 clue lianakate
Sorry - wrong Pi - the one you need has to do with a gun - with a common ending
The sp7 I have has the def. "A post used as a foundation; a pile." Is there a different base for the sp8? I have the one that's rotten food but no others!
thanks CBR and Lianakate
i have every gun word i can see!! lol Is there a 9 letter one?
yes add to 6/24 ing
yes
ahhhhhhhh..i hadnt pluralized my limestone..thought i had..ty, CB
hi7 and hi8? I'm not seeing it.
melissamay - It must be an entirely diff word - I will look for it
I am falling further down in the rankings with my games..ack. I just get too tired to play!
sfneil - try this - Any of several small, basic proteins most commonly found in association with the DNA in the chromatin of eukaryotes
I have cracked 153 words and now off for decandent chocolatte cake before the next puzzle starts... this one have driven me to chocolate....and I think my keyboard has developed a squeak....
cbr1965, thanks. Apparently there's 3 sp8s and I only have one (rotten food) and can't for the life of me see the others!
cbr thanks once again! If you ever come to San Francisco, I'll buy you dinner. Restaurant of your choice.
Melissamay - I got an sp 8/55 that is very smiliar to the word you just helped me with - ei vowel combination with an ing
the 11th st 5 is killing me.... I have st 5 10 x 7, st 5 12 x 2 and st 5 14 x 1.... any clue what I'm missing?
sfneil - maybe I'll take you up on that! Have a good one!
Thanks cbr! I just found that (weirdly misspelled) one too, so we only have the one pesky sp8 to go...
mzhokie, I'm kind of frantic to finish, so don't have time to do the research, but be aware there are no less than 3 st5s that start and end with the same consonants, only the middle vowel changes.
melissamy: thx, you gave me my 3rd. Now put a different ending on the one you have. 3rd for you - base word variant of "climb" - think caver, shortened
broll - I'm missing the same one as melissamay and I am unsure which word you are talking about to start with - I know what a caver is called and still can't figure it out - could you be a little more specific about which word to start with?
sfneil, thanks but I have thos already.... it's my last word so if I can give you any help let me know.
gosh, mzhokie, you have a better chance than me! I'm checking my st's now.
mz hokie - do you have the one that is all vowels after the st
yup.... I might just give up, I've been guessing for a while now so I have no idea what I have tried and haven't
broll, I'm not seeing the third sp8 either, sorry.
all 3 sp8's are variations of sp5's that you have... it's a misspelling so there is no real definition on one of them
take the time to tell us what you have and one of us probably has it - they are mostly common (the ones I have anyway) so it's hard to tell what you are missing
You are missing an st6/21 and an st7/32. they are like the bee bites with an extra vowel at the end. the longer one is a regular plural of the shorter one.
Hi All - I am soooo far behind so I am just trying to finish up the 7s. Any really good clues for two PO7 (not fabric) and the li7? Need help badly :(
sfneil.... are there 11 st 5's? I thought someone said that was the one missing from the double letter list.
I think I saw that earlier too - there are a total of 65 S words
cbr and mel: take the first 4 letters of the caver and throw in a vowel for the base word.
Hi Dianne - I don't have the Po but the li7 means to be a go-between
Oh crap, mzhokie, I think I misunderstood. Yes, there are 11 st5s, if you look below I gave definitions for all of them in some succesive (but close-together) posts
po 7/36 - a form of irish whiskey po 7/26 - a person who does po 4/6
mzhokie - thanks. Got the one heaping but the booze isn't getting me (ha ha). Your cat is beautiful:)
broll - I think we have that one already - the sp8 - if I am doing what you suggest correctly
thanks mzhokie for the p7/36. can't find the other one.
cbr, agreed. I have rotten food sp8 and misspelt root sp5/ with gerund sp8, but there is a third I just can't see.
i cannot find the irish whiskey..ack. I thought poteen..but it doesnt fit.
ok, mix up the vowels of a circus barker's pitch
lianakate, double your inner consonant!
broll sp8s - rotten food, blabbing and rotten plus how old you are.
Dianne, THANKS. I was missing the second spoiled food sp8!
liana - add another letter to what you worte - you'll have it!
2 base words are rodless one, other caver start with extra vowel
omg..i cannot hold my eyes open..Ty, all..for trying to help me.!!
mz and cbr - thanks I got the li one. But still too far away - only got 254 on this one :(
got it - finally - thanks broll
I'm giving up one word short... any one need any last second help before I crash?
OMG...one last attempt at guessing and I got it! I could have sworn I tried that one before. I hope tomorrows puzzle is smaller.
Well hang around to tell us which word it was - I, for one, would love to know - and thanks again for all your help!
it was the st5/10 that meant 'support device' I thought I had that with a different vowel
I just finished with four minutes to spare. I also was having trouble with my last st 5.
Well, I'm sunk!
well congrats to you both - I never even made it to the Ss!
