Hello.

12:07 am

Hello, Harpjane. How's it going?

12:07 am

a real puzzle today, hey

12:08 am

It's going good. I thought I was all by myself for a minute there!

12:09 am

Do we know what the icon is for today?

12:10 am

i was here late to get "yesterday's " puzzle done, but it is still yesterday for me, and i was babbling to myself on the log

12:11 am

I think it's general holiday icons today.

12:14 am

ooh, i8/55 :)

12:21 am

Any idea how many words were shooting for today?

12:21 am

12:21 am

148 words today

12:21 am

thanks!

12:33 am

spam isn't a real word??? i know it's a product......

12:35 am

It stands for SPiced hAM, I'm told.

12:35 am

12:37 am

12:43 am

how long does it usually take for the stats to show?

12:44 am

About 2 minutes, but you may have to hit refresh.

12:45 am

Cathyar, do you mean on Babs Anon? Brandyjack usually posts them in the morning.

12:46 am

And sometimes, earlier.

12:50 am

The stats are already up on babblers anonymous.

12:52 am

If they aren't posted at Babbler's Anon in the first 30 minutes, it means they'll be there about 6-8 hours later. The stats here on Babble itself are usually there within the first 5 minutes. But you may have to hit F5 to get them to come up if you were here before they were available.

12:53 am

a few days ago i tried to use cooie, which used to be an accepted word, but it woud not take it, any one know why?

12:58 am

12:59 am

po 6 - convicted felon gets

1:02 am

Sure that's not a pa6?

1:02 am

Especially since my stats say there are no po6's?

1:06 am

lol brandy... my bad

1:10 am

Silly me. I thought there was some sort of tradition where convicted felons were given po4 (a flower)!

1:11 am

po4/7 is something like a nosegay isn't it? As well as a flower itself.

1:12 am

I was thinking the same thing, harpjane. Silly us.

1:12 am

Well, it would be a nice gesture to give them something!

1:13 am

what's wrong with 5 lashes?

1:14 am

I agree, harpjane. Such a kind gesture could completely turn one's life around.

1:15 am

flowers for felons?

1:15 am

The definition says a bouquet, although, brandyjack, I've always thought of it as a single flower.

1:15 am

The FFF program.

1:15 am

no, its a 5$ cab voucher and a trip to denny's .... hint don't eat at Denny's in Memphis at 10 o'clock

1:16 am

and nothing wrong with 5 lashes, as long as there is a reason for it

1:17 am

flowers and lashes, sounds positively s&m

1:18 am

And as there can be no reason for such violence....

1:19 am

s & m ???? stand and model?

1:23 am

LOL ... that sure quieted others down....

1:24 am

just looking for words

1:25 am

lol... no looking for a job, but babbling into future

1:26 am

jobs are hard to come by in these parts

1:27 am

where you at?

1:27 am

ca

1:27 am

I'm sleepy, in addition to the fact I haven't felt chatty lately. I am now picturing felons leaving prison with bouquets of roses and a sash that reads 'paid my debt to society.'

1:28 am

a leather sash with metal studs.....

1:28 am

tn here, and LOL @ mab

1:28 am

i'm in a wierd mood

1:29 am

sf there, onyx?

1:29 am

Looks like there is a word in here for Miyavi. An5/12

1:29 am

how'd ya guess?

1:30 am

been to the castro before

1:31 am

brandy I totally got that!!!!!!!!!!!!

1:31 am

well, I'm off. If I dream about felons with lashes, sashes, and boquets, I have no one to blame but myself....

1:32 am

LOL @ harpjane

1:32 am

i got the two 8 and i didn't even know it i was still looking for them

1:32 am

Yeah, but I think Miy is obsessed with the real thing.

1:32 am

it could be a drag show, you may never know....

1:33 am

well, give some hints for the 2 8's then, cause I need to accomplish something tonight

1:33 am

'Night Harpjane.

1:34 am

she is, but she is the most intelligent 13 yo I have ever met

1:34 am

Im8: limited in some way. Ma8: alone. very alone.

1:34 am

how about dui and alone on a desert island

1:35 am

dreaming of felons in sashes with flowers?

1:35 am

She is an old soul, our Miyavi.

1:36 am

'warm woolen mittens and whiskers on kittens...'

1:37 am

Morning all!

1:37 am

sprite!

1:37 am

DUI = im8/55 Alone on a desert Island =Ma8/50 = cause you got shipwrecked.

1:37 am

Greetings, Sprite!

1:37 am

thank you for the clues, and yes, she is sooooo much more older than her age. Miy should be in college now, the math problems we have solved here, would get her into major universities here... She is a frickin genius. but don't tell her... LOL

1:39 am

LOL brandy, I got it from your first clue... it is the I in DUI in TN

1:39 am

I should say DWI

1:40 am

greetings sprite!

1:40 am

onyx, don't dream too long of that... it could get scary

1:41 am

Ap7: a chef my be this. So7: ????? don't see it yet.

1:41 am

here it's Driving Under the Influence, not Driving While Im8/55.

1:43 am

state by state difference here... its either a DUI or DWI (or BWI Boating While Intoxicated) in some states.... LOL

1:43 am

Intoxicated? :)

1:43 am

'felons in sashes enduring no lashes, these are a few of my favorite things'.....

1:44 am

I first found the word and only then understood the clues, LOL! Not a common abbrev. in dutch, that DUI.

1:44 am

lol

1:44 am

IM8 sprite, Drive While IM8********* (drugs or alcohol)... still trying that ap7.....

1:45 am

Hi onyx! Nice to see you again :)

1:46 am

likewise

1:46 am

Ap7: WSWC (wearing something while cooking) so your Xmas clothes stay presentable?

1:46 am

mab... don't go with the wiskers on felons and warm woolen ......... LOL can't finish this poem....

1:47 am

ap7 is a garment worn while cooking. Although french maids outfits include a lacy one too.

1:47 am

or feolns in leather ones

1:47 am

felons with talons... this is getting scary

1:48 am

got it.... and onyx, I have yet to see a felon in one of THOSE!

1:48 am

And of course mama's boys tend to hang onto the ap5/12 strings.....

1:48 am

i don't think i'd want to

1:49 am

This word seems to have captured your imagination, brandyjack.

1:50 am

Most look better without. Though some can benefit from any garment at all.

1:50 am

Brandyjack are you wearing a French maid's costume right now? Tell the truth.

1:50 am

onyx, would like to continue the reparte, but would feel that the convo might offend... IM me at mtnjock@yahoo.com, you are funny, but I wish not to offend

1:50 am

Got confused. Thought they were looking for the Ap7, but's it's that dratted so7 that's got me stumped too...

1:51 am

brandy, the ap7 is what they want to know if you are wearing... LOL

1:52 am

i was afraid to take it any farther, was sure i might offend, having fun with the theme tho and mab helping propel the theme

1:52 am

I only wish...........

1:52 am

brandyjack type of voice

1:52 am

You know, mtn, you began this line of silliness with you po6 (which doesn't exist, everyone).

1:53 am

onyx, mab, you have my IM on yahoo, so IM me, lets continue, and she is sooooooo humorous...

1:54 am

so =another word for immunity

1:54 am

MAB, lol..... we need to start a 2nd chat room, just for those of us that need to make adult comments and jokes, I have been on PG 13 since I realized how old MIY was ...

1:55 am

I love being a propellant.

1:55 am

I have been playing with that voice for some time, couldn't make it stick... never thought it would take that final letter. I expected an O.

1:56 am

Sam is even younger. It's all in the game ;)

1:56 am

A good policy, mtn. We have other young ones as well.

1:56 am

Ya, me too.

1:57 am

Then there are those young at heart .......63 going on 20

1:57 am

I didn't realize it from the start, but as the 'champers' were being passed, I was IM'd by a babbler on yahoo (who was swift enough to find me on yahoo as the same ID) what it meant, I began to cull the adult references

1:58 am

Like us, lol... but we don't need to be pg'ed.

1:58 am

p.s. sam is sweet and good at giving clues, how smart is the next generation?

2:00 am

It never stops amazing me how much smarter those kids are at that age than I remember being or seeing when I was that young.

2:00 am

Not too many, really.

2:00 am

i too but it is late at night here, and i figured the young ones are asleep, but duh, it isn't night everywhere this game is played i can't im, ( blush, blush) the computer isn't set up to do it

2:00 am

ahhh being a baritone, I never thought that the plural of the female ranges would be here... thanks!

2:02 am

No, i take that back. There are many many brilliant kids out there, but proper schooling is often lacking, and there are so many submental distractions too.

2:03 am

I didn't know Miy was 13 until she reveiled it. I was helping her with problems I helped college level football players with at Purdue!!!!! and worse yet, she understood the transitions!

2:03 am

Algebra problems that is!

2:04 am

I wouldn't want to be a kid in this time. There is expected so much from them, and yet I feel most are the wrong things... I am ever so grateful we managed to find a real good school for ours, a bit old fashioned about manners and what they teach, and young in methods and such.

2:05 am

There is a serious problem with how we educate the young here in USA. Unless you can afford to send your kids to the best schools, its pretty much home schooling along with public schooling. Thank gosh my dad kept giving me books with a science slant that got me excited.

2:05 am

LOL @ mtnjock... of COURSE algebra problems. Never thought otherwise until I read your last post.

2:06 am

she speaks french and german to both of us my friend. and its usually in code so we know its personal!

2:08 am

nothing wrong with manners, I grew up with them, think kids need them instilled by their parents more often (biased). Miss (or Mrs.) so and so (first name only appropriate if they allow it), etc. etc. too many times these little things lead to not understanding authority.

2:08 am

Darvin is on the verge of being banned in u.s. public schools, and our president (who is solidly behind this idea) doesn't believe in global warming.

2:08 am

She's so sweet. Hey... looks I'm in the grid today!

2:09 am

Sprite, did you see the babble chat where I helped her solve the math problem while in study hall? Talk about cracking me up... I asked her, are you in a test right now?

2:10 am

can't believe i didn't see that one, thanx s6

2:10 am

I, ha ha, meant Darwin. I think good manners are terribly important to impart to kids, gently. It would be a better world if everyone went to finishing school.

2:11 am

LOL, I swear DR God does that for regulars, he had my dog in the grid the last month... beau... when no one could find it, I would say, 'whats my dog's name?' as the clue (had his pic in as my icon then)

2:11 am

She's a very smart kid, which means she won't be having an easy time... but in a way she is also surprisingly mature. Always glad to see her around. Yes, I saw that chat. Impressive - from both of you ;)

2:11 am

global warming, no such thing.... sure, i got flowers on my tomatoe plants and i'm still picking them green to ripen inside, and it is december!!

2:12 am

LOL, impressive was her ability to play hockey and get hurt, do her work (excellently, btw) and babble.

2:14 am

Before the job change I offerred to bring her (MIY) over to the USA as an au pair (sp) for ScoutsMom and get a taste of the US, but she is in school 24/7. I couldn't do it reliably now, but, OMG, she is amazing.... I would expect to see her in the news before 20.

2:14 am

About those manners: I couldn't agree more! My kids address their teachers with Mr or Mrs. I know in english there is only 'you', but in Dutch we have different words. One for people you know very well, or what a grownup would use to talk to a kid, and one that expresses respect. I am just glad my kids are taught that respect doesn't hurt.

2:15 am

And, Miy feels things deeply. I hope she can hold onto her sense of her identity as time goes on.

2:15 am

LOL @ onyx, I come from farm country in IN. Worked in Oakland... and you don't think blooms in DEC isn't odd?

2:17 am

of course it is for tomatoes any way, there are some things that can grow around here in december, but not sposed to be tomatoes

2:18 am

Sprite, my Grandmother was french, which is where I learned what little I knew of the language and culture. She insisted on table settings, respectful greetings, but it was never an imposition, but a respect for those who were joining us. family settings weren't as formal, but just a different set of respectful customs...

2:19 am

nightall, i'm saving some for tomorrow

2:19 am

That's just it. I strongly feel it is a gift to kids, to teach them manners and instill in them respect for other people AND themselves. I feel a lot of problems in our world are related to lack of respect.

2:19 am

Sweet dreams, onyx :)

2:20 am

I so agree mtn and Sprite. A sense of etiquette in general truly stands one in good stead socially, and all other ways. It's simply thinking of others, rather than being selfish.

2:21 am

MIY is very intuitive and thoughtful. She is one of the special ones that are sent to us every generation (and yes, I really mean that). She will do something special! I have listened to the music (miyavi) that she loves and I have to say, its very intricate (I played cello for 12 years and 2 years of music theory), just not something I would listen to regularly. Anyone who would take the time to translate lyrics to understand what the song says (japanese music vs. italian operas) is amazing at 13!

2:23 am

So true. Mtn, are you saying you don't play cello anymore? I adore the cello (and besides, yoyo ma is hot).

2:24 am

ettiquette and manners show that you respect your host, yourself and your family. My Grandmother and Mother always got ticked at me for peppering my food before I tasted it. Until I started cooking for my Mother's catering co. how rude it was to assume that the very rich and thought out dish in front of you tasted, before you seasoned it, was an insult to the cook, host and yourself.

2:24 am

My son is someone who has been 'different' from the very start. He feels things deeply and has his own way of reacting to everything around him. I want him to keep that unique individuality. But what mother would I be if I didn't teach him how to act like society wants? I want him to be able to be part of most social circles. And if he can, he can choose to be the odd one out whenever he wishes... but then it is his choice. I want him to have that freedom.

2:24 am

Ya, yoyo is pretty cool to talk to as well, but only met him twice. sold my cello to pay for my engineering degree.

2:26 am

Oh mtn, so true! I really hate it when people start pouring salt over my cooking before they even tasted it :)

2:27 am

Sprite, I have always been odd man out. I played football in highschool and college, but was a nerd. The best thing I learned from my folks was a sense of self. I may not have been the most popular, but I was the one people looked to, to accomplish the hard problems. I knew who I was. The best gift you can give your child is teaching them, that it ok to be them.

2:28 am

how maupaussant (sp) to sell the cello for the tuition. You met Yoyo Ma? How interesting. I love the recordings he's done of tango music, Brazilian music, the Silk Road Ensemble, etc.

2:29 am

twice in the midwest championships ... before he went pro.

2:29 am

let me point out, I was TOTALLY in a different division, but hearing him play was a treat, back in the late 80's

2:30 am

don't know the mausapaunt word, but it financed my senior year in computer eng. at Purdue.

2:30 am

I agree, mtn. That's what he is saying himself now too (he's 9 years old), that he feels okay being him, but also is glad to be able to adapt if he wants to.

2:32 am

If anything I have differently in my childhood (child #11 of 12) would be to have parents that respected my space, but did wonderfully odd things, like show up to concerts or football games, but they had to work. I think that too much attention is as bad as too less

2:33 am

I think no kids wants to be smothered ;)

2:33 am

*remove one S to your liking from last post*

2:33 am

I strived for my parents to pay some attention to me (over excelled), cause the rest of my siblings were always having drama. it helped me in some ways...

2:34 am

de maupausant was the one who wrote those stories of irony -- like the woman who sold her beautiful hair in order to buy her husband a watch chain. Meanwhile, the man sells his watch in order to by his wife tortoise shell combs for her beautiful hair. Oh, nevermind....

2:34 am

mab... les miserables?

2:34 am

Good old Guy. Your comment didn't go wasted, mab :D

2:35 am

oh, wait, she sold her hair to feed her daughter, ...

2:35 am

Victor Hugo wrote Les Mis.

2:36 am

and thanks for the update... you should get on ScoutsMom's recommended reading list... Its incredible.

2:36 am

VH wrote that? Wow, I didn't know it. I have seen it twice though.

2:39 am

He wrote Les Miserables I, the novel. I've never seen the stage adaptation. Is it a movie yet?

2:39 am

The most wonderful thing I learned from my parents was that if you treat someone as an adult and talk to them (from the beginning ) as such, they will ack like one. If you talk to them as less than on (or down to them) you will insult them and teach them that it is ok to do so. I have a cousin as old as I. My mother talks to all children, adults and the aged with the same voice, logic and concern. She is a wonderful person and my guide... (LOL... feeling mystical right now)

2:40 am

In case anyone is interested, we are looking for 1574 points today, with an average length of 4.62. Some mild surprises, but no real un-words. I bid you farewell for now, with thanks for a most interesting chat-and-babble experience :D

2:40 am

As long as Andrew Lloyd Webber didn't write the score, I'd like to see it.

2:41 am

There are 3, but non as good as the Andrew Llyod Webber adaptation for the stage. The Musical brings out the feeling that the movies lack, the musical draws the crowd in. I have not liked any of the movies done on it. But RENT the movie is worth seeing, over the top theatrics, but genuine.

2:42 am

Oh, Sprite, I'm not at all focused - not that I would actually come close to finishing anyway in this amount of time. Well Done!!!! Have a great day!!!

2:42 am

sprite, chat me up anytime at mtnjock@yahoo.com, as well as anyone here. Good day

2:43 am

LOL @ Mab, you sound like my Charles... ALW is written for the masses and the royalties, but it makes for interesting intertainment. my favorite musical of all is Chess

2:45 am

I'm squeamish re ALW. His scores are redundant. Anything from Cats makes me want to become violent and start smashing things.

2:49 am

He's no Sondheim. Night mtn. I should sleep or something. If you hang on a bit the Brits will be coming on line.

2:49 am

LOL... at 9 I was impressed with CATS, at 36 I see the re-use of thems and arpeggios and segments that makes me appreciate great and original scores and music ... I used to worship ALW, but then grew up. ;)

2:50 am

Its the Lyrics and Message of Chess that captures me. You should look it up

2:50 am

Somw of the Brits are already here

2:50 am

Nite Mab, and thanks... I like your dredel... (spelling)

2:51 am

welcome frances

2:55 am

I hope you enjoy your babble

2:59 am

mtnjock Thank you. I've been lurking around for about two hours just enjoying the chat. Have to agree with your comments about MIY she has such humour for a youngun.

3:02 am

tell me about it. she has passed on more spirit (for lack of a better word) than some friends here. I was thinking of getting her some chocolates and philosophy books for the holidays. Like someone said, she is an old soul, and would probably get them.

3:02 am

where in Great Brit. are you?

3:05 am

I am about to go to bed, but I have both eights, if anyone wants clues

3:05 am

and the 7's

3:06 am

mtnjock I live in a place called Woodford Green which is in the county of Essex. It is about 15 miles to the east of London and it has just started to snow.

3:08 am

thats cool, I live in Memphis, TN but grew up across the country from the Mojavi desert to Richland, VA, but spent most of my time in South Bend IN (home of Notre Dame University)... I miss snow... but not on a regular basis

3:12 am

going to bed frances, have a good night. Everyone else, babble well, and I will be back soon.

3:12 am

mtnjock Spent all of my working life in the airline business (mostly for the wonderful, now gone PanAm) so was able to get to the states on a regular basis. Never made it to Memphis though.

3:13 am

thats cool about working for airlines, up until last week I worked for FedEx as a computer engineer. Airline companies are really taxing on their employees.

3:15 am

mtnjock They are but they gave me the opportunity to fly all over the world. Wouldn't have missed that for anything. Wonderful education for my son

3:17 am

same here, why I picked them over Martin Marrietta. A chance to fly anywhere and be useful. They stopped expanding and I had no reason to be there. But 11 years is a good run. I hope that you have found something fulfilling.

3:19 am

mtnjock I've now retired. So spend my days looking after my three year old granddaughter and her dog. She is an absolute joy and is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

3:19 am

mtnjock Spend my evenings quilting and babbling

3:22 am

Frances, my mom crouches and knits, and sews, and caters food for Notre Dame, she is over 60, I am 36. I grew up appreciating the fact that family is more than the atomic on, but the one that one creates and grows on. I was raised for 3 years (blessed years) with my grand mother in the house. She taught me so much about how to be an adult. My mother carries on that tradition with spending so much time with her grand kids.

3:25 am

people laugh that she can crouche a baby blanket on a flight from memphis to SBN (South Bend National) let alone during 2 movies while bored... LOL... quilting is an art, my mom thinks of comfort. Difference, but still special for the time and effort put into it. I don't know what time it takes to make a quilt, but doing stain glass, we often refer to quilt designs for inspiration.

3:26 am

mtnjock My daughter in law is Swedish so Ellie, who is just three, is growing up bi-lingual. She is try to teach me Swedish. They are in Sweden now visiting other grandparents for Christmas and new year so I'm dog sitting.

3:28 am

but you are apart of the family unit. Most grand parents in the US are left out, and then put into homes for someone else to care about. It is sweet that your family wants you to be about of that childs life intricatly. My 70 father taught himself Calculus to help me while in college... I will never forget that.

3:29 am

mtnjock I design and make entirely by hand, silk quilts. Used to do it quite a lot on long haul flight when you could take scissors. A lot of people actually make quilts called stained glass

3:31 am

I have heard of that. Never seen those designs yet, but Darleen used to do stained glass and now does beads had mentioned that as well. I usually stick with the Frank Llyod Wright geodesic designs I grew up around. I would love to see some though...

3:33 am

Frances, btw, my name is Steve, I feel that you should know that. mtnjock has been a screen name of mine since 1990, an attestament to my love of scouting and camping, and being in the woods.

3:33 am

mtnjock I just think that as I see Ellie for most of the year then it is no harship to miss maybe four weeks of the year when she is able to see her Swedish family. I like to think that I am helping her to grow up as a great person.

3:36 am

Thank you Steve. Nice to get to know you. Perhaps I should now let you get some shuteye. The dog wants to walk and it is now blowing a blizzard!!!!!!!!!!! Hope to talk with you some more. Nite

3:37 am

That is sweet and totally wonderful. Being there for Ellie and trying to learn swedish (totally incredible, btw) you are being the best booshie (polish for not litteral but social grandmother) you could be.

3:38 am

Do you get lake effect snow there (or is it called something else?)

3:39 am

Good Night Mrs. Frances. I hope that you will share some of your quilting designs (stained glass) with me sometime

3:41 am

Lake effect snow is new to me. Perhaps we call it something else. It is smowing so hard thaat I can't see the trees in the garden!!!!!!!!!!

apparently SPAM isn't a word - how come???

Thanks Trishtrash. Is it snowing where you live?

4:40 am

Bah, no. Nice and frosty though :) How much snow have you got?

A Good few inches I live in Hasting East Sussex

4:43 am

Nice... I'm in the West Midlands. Was in Wales until last night, and thought we'd see snow there before anyone else, but was wrong. It was ridiculously mild!

4:47 am

62 words left... time to take a break, good luck everyone.

4:53 am

Hi Frances. I was in Woodford Green at a party the other day. Small world! Been lurking for half an hour but hi, everyone. Any clues for the last two pa words please?

4:56 am

'morning hydra. Should be renamed Woodford White this morning!

4:57 am

I'm in Uxbridge. It snowed about half an hour ago but it's melting now, worse luck. The robin keeps reminding me to put more crumbs out.

4:58 am

The dog keeps asking to go for a walk. Puts his nose outside and changes his mind.

4:59 am

Don't blame him! Think I'll stay in all day and eat the leftover chocs and biccies! Then I'll join a gym. (Hollow laugh.)

5:00 am

He knows that I still have turkey left for him so he refuses to eat anything else right now

5:01 am

We chucked the turkey out for the foxes last night. Nothing left, not even the bones. Mind you, the cat looks suspiciously plump.

5:03 am

We have foxes here in the garden. The dog thinks it is only his territory and chases them into the garden next door and then goes to play with them there

5:08 am

117 words. Still stuck on those last two pa's though.

5:18 am

144 words now. Just four to find. Anyone got a clue for the final two pa words?

5:19 am

try a western friend

5:24 am

pa is a dog disease and the plural

5:26 am

Pa5/18 and pa6/30, must have a high value letter in??

5:35 am

Thanks, folks. I guessed it from the dog virus.

5:36 am

I'm missing one word so I shall have to count everything now.

5:38 am

Got it. It was an m. I'm all finished now. Whoopee!

hydra gets *~*~*~FIREWORKS!~*~*~*

any hint for ca/5 please

got it

5:50 am

hi

hi karenth

I am suffering with the 5 letter words... sucky suck sucker!!!

6:01 am

Thanks for the fireworks, Mr President! Sorry, had to disappear to take a phone call. Bye, all!

6:02 am

Hang on, maybe I can dispense a few clues before I go. Anyone need anything?

yes please... am/6

6:04 am

The fluid that surrounds a fetus, minus the 'tic' and plus the last letter of an onion!

thank you! and please both do5/12 's

6:07 am

In fact, it's the 'thin, tough, membranous sac' itself, that the fetus lives in.

6:08 am

If you give blood, you're a blood do----. If you are the person the blood is given to, you're the do---!

biggest DUH!! moment.... thank you very much!

I can't find the ir/5 or ir/6 to save a seal!!

6:11 am

ir/6 past tense of ir4/4. ir/5 just knock off last letter of ir/6...

just got it it helps to have the ir/4 first LOL

I am slow on the uptake tonight.... too much party food and over indulgence etc... NO EXCUSE! but it helps me geel better about this grid

6:13 am

Can someone explain what LOL stands for? I always thought it was 'Lots Of Love', then someone said it meant a wry laugh. (But that would be WL!)

6:13 am

Laughing Out Loud, Hydra

6:13 am

Laugh Out Loud :)

6:14 am

Hydra....LOL....laugh out loud !!...hello everyone....Merry Christmas

6:14 am

Oh! Daylight dawns. I must have given people a lot more laughs than love in my texts and emails.

I am having heaps of issues with the 5's tonight... ma5/22 ma6/21

6:16 am

ma5/22. There was a soul singer called M----- Gaye. Think of a shorter version.

6:16 am

sorry....only just started here !!!

hydra.... got to love the LOL :D you have me ROFLMAO

6:17 am

mrpresident ma6/21 dark red colour

6:17 am

Ma 6/21 is a colour. It's also a loud kind of alarm firework that the navy set off.

thank you all!!

6:18 am

You've got me stumped now, Mr P. I'll be working on ROFLMAO all day!

6:19 am

hydra, - when you've worked it out, then you'll do it :)

rolling on the floor laughing my ass off!

6:20 am

Well, I hope it's something good, or I'll cry :(

6:20 am

Oops! My message got there after yours. All is explained and I can now pour some brandy into my coffee.

6:20 am

LOLs @ Hydra :) rofl ... rolling on the floor laughing roflmao ... rolling on the floor laughing my ass off lolol ... laughing out loud *out loud* (because most lol's are really 'heh')

6:22 am

hydra... I am onto the white rum... *raises glass in salute*

6:22 am

hi every body. need a clue for ma 5/14

6:22 am

Cheers, me dears!

6:23 am

thank you Hydra... not many people know Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics.... this is the 'chibbi' version of Dream. He's such a cute little Endless :)

6:24 am

I don't know them but will investigate now. Roncook, ma5/14 is a woman's name. Rhymes with Amy.

6:26 am

ta hydra

6:27 am

trishtrash, do you believe in synchronicity? I've just Googled Neil Gaiman and found a site about him called The Dreaming. I have this week purchased a painting called The Dreaming. Spooky!

can you help with no 5/ 10 no 6/ 18 thanks in advance!

6:28 am

That's really quite cool, Hydra ... what's your painting of/like ? & who's it by?

6:32 am

no5/10 is a type of water wheel. No6/18 is 'a gabbro in which the pyroxene is principally orthopyroxene.' (Yes, really.) Trishtrash, the artist is Ulrich Osterloh. He's a young German painter who takes his inspiration from spiritual sources such as the Kabbalah. I think his website is osterlohart.gb. Something like that, anyway. There are repros of all his work on the website. Hope you like them.

6:34 am

It's www.osterlohart.de. I just Googled it.

6:35 am

Gosh, Hydra, so colourful ! I really like 'fields' :) *goes back to poke around the site a bit more*

thanks again hydra!!

6:37 am

Did you find 'The Dreaming'? It's on the 3rd page of the Absolute Arts site.

6:37 am

Must go now. I'm actually going to do SOME WORK!!!!

bye hydra... have a good day

6:39 am

Oh, yes... what a peaceful painting! Thanks for the link ... bye!

6:41 am

Just before I go, I must tell you that I met Ulrich cos he was selling his London flat and i was looking for one to buy. The walls were lined with his paintings and even tho i didn't buy the flat, we became good friends. Cosmic, eh?

6:42 am

Wow, bet the paintings made an impact when you walked in :)

6:44 am

They really did. I was transfixed and wanted to buy them all. They are priced at £200 upwards, the most expensive being about £2,000 I think. Compared to other artists, they're quite reasonable. I think he will really take off and then I shall have to lock it to the wall and insure it! Bye! See you tomorrow :)

I have issues with the or's.... any help please?

6:46 am

MrP.. one's an anagram of your od 4/5 (the one with the r in it, obviously, heh)

got the 4 any help with the or5? then it is off to bed for me!

6:54 am

o + re4/5

thank you again!! I am off to sleep... see you later everyone... have a nice day!!

6:58 am

Have a good one MrP :)

7:30 am

Afternoon all. I hope everyone had a great Christmas? I see our top Babbler is featured in today's grid.

7:34 am

Hi Jacula.... the log's quiet as mice this afternoon. I'm not really here, myself, just babbling between making lunch.

7:35 am

Hi, Trishtrash. I'm not really here either. LOL.

HELLO!

7:40 am

*grins* Well, that just means we're all there, right? Hiya Sam

7:40 am

Hiya Speedy. How was your Christmas?

GREAT! how was your's???

sorry youre's

I CAN'T SPELL!

bye everyone off to the ice rink!

bye, sam! glad your holiday was good! hi, jacs!

7:48 am

Speedy - Good, thanks. Have fun skating.

7:49 am

Hi Temple. How are you doing? I seem to have hit a wall with just 7 words left to find. Am *supposed* to be making Scotch eggs, jelly etc.

i'm doing well, jacs. i have my dad here with me and he is a late sleeper, so i have taken advantage to babble...i have thrown off some of the "shoulds" this year and i do feel a little less stressed...

7:52 am

Temple - throwing off the 'shoulds' is a very good idea.

jacs - when my hubby of 25 yrs left, all bets were off, to my mind...so i try to be who i am now - when i can find that person!

7:56 am

Temple - I know exactly what you mean. (Truly. Been there... got the t-shirt etc.) You do get through to the other side in the end.xx

7:57 am

Just popped out to get my paper. Can't believe the people with trolley loads of food!

thanks jacs. i am seeing that. and in the new year i may even try to meet someone- it's been three years - but maybe again, not. not much out there...

good morning, anyone have a clue for pa6/24 but not the one that lets convicts out of jail or another word for excuse me.

8:02 am

Temple - I know you may have been told this many times before but when the time is right it will happen. Don't try to force it (new love) as that can only lead to more disappointment and disillusionment. Look upon each new thing done, or new person met, as a step up the ladder of healing. When the right person comes along, if they do, you will KNOW it's right. Either way, you will find a new contentment through just being yourself. I hope that made some kind of sense?

8:02 am

Hello Spellit and Marc.

indeed it does. thanks, jac....

hi spellit and marc

8:04 am

Marc Freeman pa6/24 if you are playing tennis with another on the same side of the net you could be said to be pa*****

8:05 am

Marc - pa6/24 - Certainly; surely; truly; verily; -- originally an oath. Originally from the French for 'by God' (par Dieu). Has several spellings and this is one of them. (Sounds sort of Indian.)

8:05 am

Hi Jacula and Temple Owl

Jacula are you saying that the first four letter of pa6/24 are the same for both pa6/24?

8:08 am

Marc Freeman pa6/24 x 3

8:08 am

Marc - Yes, they are. The word you are seeking ends with 2 vowels.

8:09 am

Marc - Same as the pa6/24 for what helps you to get out of prison, not the pa6/24 that means 'coupled'.

thanks Jacula got it.

8:12 am

I'm stuck on the 2nd pr5/14 and the 2nd sp6/24 (the one that is not our top Babbler). Think I'll have to come back to them later.

8:14 am

Jacula... the pr5/14 is a word for a verse with an 'r' inserted after the p.

8:15 am

Trishtrash - Thanks, but I have that one. It's the 2nd one I am missing.

8:15 am

... ah, my bad... there are two meaning 'foremost', they have different vowels on the end.

Sorry need anothe clue on the last pr5/14 have all the other p's

8:16 am

I have the 'most excellent' and the 'preface'.

jacs- i don't have that one yet, either...sorry!

8:17 am

pr 5/12 - term for lying down

8:17 am

I am a twit! I do have the other word for 'excellence' (the ballet one). I'd written it in the wrong place on my paper list. It's the 2nd pr4/6 I'm looking for.

8:19 am

'pr4/6 and proper'

the one that goes with proper? or the one that goes with cattle?

8:20 am

The one that goes with 'proper'. Thanks both! *Slaps self with a fish.*

Jacula there are three pr5/6 the 2nd one is another word for proper as in pr** and proper the 3rd 4/6 is to poke someone with a stick to move them along. Haz I have the pr5/12 need the pr5/14 before it

8:21 am

That just leaves the elusive sp6/24 (not the 'sp' that you are if you are not killed when others are).

now you've done it, jacs! that is a union fish and it gets time and a half if used during holiday period...

8:23 am

sp6/24 to put something on bread?

I still need a clue for the last pr5/14 anyone it is driving me nuts and I know it is obvios

8:28 am

I need that fish again (time and a half or not)! I'd got the buttering bread word. Had written it in the wrong place AGAIN.

8:28 am

pr5/14 - insert r into word for verse that rhymes

8:29 am

Marc - the last pr5/14 is an introduction or a preface. Think of a verse (a 'po') and insert the appropriate consonant as the 2nd letter.

8:32 am

I'm all done. Would have been done sooner if I'd written my list out more carefully. *Mutter, mutter, mutter.* I'm off to do some jobs but will pop in every now and then to see if anyone needs clues. The fish can now go back to its snooze!

8:32 am

congrats Jac :)

bye, jacs! care to share clues for the too long so's? or will i want the fish?

Seeya congrats Jacula and thanks Haz still confused with what you mean by verse that rhymes I come up with prose but that doesn't work.

8:34 am

What does a poet write?

8:34 am

Is this a small puzzle again today?

8:35 am

singular of 'poetry', Marc, does that help?

8:35 am

148 words today

thanks Haz I knew it was obvious just couldn't get the noggen thinking.

8:39 am

I'm glad you got there in the end.

Don't know your kibbutz, but have hiked down in the negev quite a few times. Love it. Best part of the country.

11:56 am

Hi David n Sam. what a nice surprise!!!I know who introduced you to Babble.

11:57 am

go further south, into the southern Arava to find me. 50km before Eilat

'fraid to say that Babble has become something of an obsession ... don't think we're that good at it, but with scrabble word book in hand we normally get a decent score

11:59 am

I have 7 P's to find then im done for today.Yes, i'm addicted and not sufficiently employed.

harpjane, you do this with butter on bread

ooohh...a lab worker...we got jokes for the lab workers!

Cathy, were you on the 1600 campus?

2:38 pm

I'm sure you do ... and the parasitology lab is probably a prime target!! I'm not even sure I know what the 1600 campus is ... there was only one building then, but it was right near Emory -- can't recall the street. We were down in the basement. I do remember that!

2:39 pm

21 to go... I need a little break...back soon...

IN THE BASEMENT...the punchline of many jokes lol! Yes, you were at Clifton Road. Its like Fort Knox now. I work at a different campus not far from there. Hate having to visit, its like trying to get into Cuba.

2:41 pm

Clifton Rd -- that's it. And I'm sure the basement is still as undesirable a location as ever ... but what a fitting place to keep all the parasites :)

I'm a newbie. Any hints at using this? I don't know the abbreviations yet. I've been working for a bout an hour now and have only 63 words. Clue me in to the stats example

2:57 pm

63 words in an hour is excellent for a newbie!!

2:58 pm

wel done lilspotteddog and welcome!

2:58 pm

hi lilspotteddog :) for example, pr5/12 means a 5 letter word beginning with pr and worth 12 points. See 'Babble Rules' at the top of the page for the points scoring. Also, you can get a stats at the Babblers Anon site - link on the right - have fun :)

2:59 pm

Hi lilspottedogg : ) All is explained in Babble Rules, at the top of the page. ad6/21 for example will mean begins is ad, there are 6 letters, with a total score of 21. You will find stats in Babblers Anonymous, in the Friends of Babble panel on the right. 63 words in one hour is very good going!! Welcome to Babble! : )

Ok, I'm off! I'm going to slip out the door and head home. Cheers everyone!

3:00 pm

....begins WITH.... : /

3:00 pm

Need help with last do5/12... well, it might not be the last... I have the one where something is do4/5 to... help?

thanx all. i will go back to rules. My mom called when I was jsut starting, so I bet she is logged on too! She can't afford to let me get ahead of her on a word puzzle!

3:01 pm

pr4/6, for example, means the word begins with pr, is 4 letters long, and worth 6 points. If you click on Babblers Anon at the right, you can go to the stats, which list the words in the grid by the first two letters. If you copy this to notepad or some such thing, you can refer to it frequently. It's enormously helpful.

3:01 pm

who's your Mom, lils?

3:02 pm

No=w aint that what babble is all about. Nice family and friend wrecking *lovingly polishes beretta and aims it for best pal who got a higher score yesterday....*

3:50 pm

yep babs! and you can pr5/12 or 5/14, whatever you would like.

3:52 pm

Sherb- so how do you make someone purple? didn't anj do that the other day? that's pretty cool. i'm technologically ignorant. took me an hour just to find the speaker holes

3:57 pm

smaller - luckily, there's software that makes it simple... I use a program called Photoshop Elements - a cutdown version of a professional program... it lets you crop images, apply effects, change colours etc... hours of fun, in fact :D if you don't want to buy the software, computer magazines often have free discs, so you could just look for one with a photo editor program

3:57 pm

Finished yet, Jera?

3:59 pm

any clues for the ma 5/ 22 and the mi 5/ 22?

4:00 pm

4:28 pm

4:32 pm

4:33 pm

10 left to go..need a cup of tea to revive the flagging brain

4:34 pm

did you find any good bargains, CathB? I had a look round today, and I think there was better stock BEFORE Christmas than there is now....! (says she who bought a really pretty dress today! lol!)

4:35 pm

babs and cathb- wow I admire you ladies. i like people but these days through the first of the year, people are just frenzied while shopping. i must admit that this people-person stays home

4:37 pm

I know what you mean, Smaller. I have never been to the shops on the first day of the sales before, but it was later in the afternoon, and my sister was free, so we decided to have a look. We only went to a small shopping centre, not the centre of town, which would have been heaving!!!

4:37 pm

ramit should be a word. as in "if plug doesn't fit in the speaker hole, ramit in."

4:37 pm

so smaller, what line of work are you in?

4:37 pm

I had bought a jumper for the said daughter in Next b4 xmas but could not return it today (no refunds until 29th).Husband had a watch and I bought some xmas decs but all the sale stuff seems to be old stock from previous sales. Then hit M&S but again husband had more bargains than me.We only went to a small retail park today.so hitting town tomorrow

4:38 pm

babs- oh good! b/c i was really worried for your safety there for a bit. you live in a really populated area right?

4:38 pm

sherb- computers.

4:39 pm

hahahahahahaha i'm in sales, actually. I sell plants.

4:39 pm

yeah, right

4:39 pm

I noticed that about Next too, Cath. But I did buy that gorgeous red vase! I needed one and it was perfect. Other than that, there wasn't much, was there? I'm staying away from town for a few weeks!! Yes, Smaller, I am in Manchester, which is pretty big!!

4:40 pm

et tu, sherby?!!!!

4:41 pm

do you know what, Cath? I was very impressed with BHS!! I live in London, and my nearest store is in Croydon, which never really did it for me. The one in Manchester is fab!!!!!

4:41 pm

sherb- just b/c you're hot, doesn't mean that you can be rude

4:41 pm

I answered that one earlier...

4:41 pm

lol Smaller!!! you can talk!! what's your excuse? eh?

4:42 pm

honestly, one of our own TOP players is in the board and i've only just seen it!

4:42 pm

I have 2 more.. a pr4/5 (one of the first 2) & a pr5/14 (the last one)... help?!

4:42 pm

babbler, the town I live in has 500 people! : )

4:43 pm

500!! wow!! Whereabouts are you, Smaller?

4:43 pm

babblerI go to manchester quite often for meetings with work but have never had time to shop. However was there last week and had an hour ot 2 b4 a meeting so a collegue took me on a whistle stop tour of the shops....I could not get over Primark - makes our store look like a jumble sale

4:44 pm

How many people in London, Sherb? About 6 million? Something like that, isn't it?

4:44 pm

Jera - pr4/5 is probably the one that sounds like the front of a ship (add two vowels), and the pr5/14 is probably the one that's like a verse, but with an R in it

4:45 pm

Got the 4, hurrah for monkey-typing!!

4:45 pm

babs-big ole Montana! talk?

4:45 pm

The Primark in Manchester is the best I've seen. I've seen a couple of stores in London and they look like jumble sales too! I couldn't understand my sisters going on about it until I came home and saw it for myself!! Definitely going there before I go back!! :D

4:45 pm

yeah, about 5.999m too many, Babs, lol ;D

4:45 pm

houston has about 1.6 +million ( don't abou that + though)

4:46 pm

Like a verse, sherb??

4:46 pm

4:46 pm

4:47 pm

Got it, yay! *happy dance of doneness!!!*

4:47 pm

Jera - another word for verse, begins with a P, stick an R in it... sounds strange...

4:48 pm

*claps for Jera!!* :D

4:48 pm

They are opening a new Primark in Swansea...they have taken over Littlewoods and are converting it.will be open in march.there are currently 3 floors therethere so I am hoping it will resemble the Manchesters store

4:49 pm

4:49 pm

4:49 pm

i've yet to finish a puzzle, my brain has been on vacation

4:50 pm

4:50 pm

10 words. -goes crazy-

4:51 pm

hope I didn'tleave it somewhere

4:51 pm

mia - do5 - someone who gives something, eg a blood do***

4:51 pm

do5/12 a person who gives, ie blood, organs, money

4:51 pm

mia - do5/12 - there's two, different last letters

4:52 pm

whereami, mine just flat out left me. is yours young and built like a brickhouse and has a strong jawline. my brain would leave me for that.

5:25 pm

I'll tell you about smaller, she is a cookie chick. She likes to give other people nicknames and then continually adds more names to you. She doesn't like to work while she is babbling and thinks she should be paid for words over 7 letters. So you ask me about smaller, I'll tell you about smaller.

5:33 pm

6:25 pm

pa 6 use the same first four letter of the other 6 then add two of the same vowel

6:25 pm

pbr - start with what you call when you move your head up and down to say 'yes'... .then add a vowel

6:26 pm

I'm gone folks! It's 1h30 here! See ya tomorrow! A demain! :)

6:26 pm

6:28 pm

i need two more can someone please give me a clue for ad 6 21 and ae 5 10 please.....

6:29 pm

a + dr5/12 ae5 - eagle's nest

6:30 pm

Sue: ad is a plus the French for 'right.' Ae5 is a roost for birds.

6:31 pm

babbler -- my mistake i have the no4/5 -- i am missing one darn ni4/4, i have the one that builds the 5 and 6

6:32 pm

stuck on a do4/5..... got the person, and finished.... what's missing? it's in the first three... ty

6:32 pm

thank you mab and babler

6:32 pm

pbr..... here's the fish....... it's an alt spelling of night.... lol! :D

6:33 pm

Babbler -- french right minus the r

6:33 pm

pr 5/14 ( last one, after poke)?

6:34 pm

ty sooooo much, cybernan! :D my shoulders thank you too.

6:34 pm

cyber - think of another word for verse that begins with P, then drop the R after the first letter. Looks weird....

6:37 pm

Are we looking at the same word, Babbler?....... pr 5/14 (after poke and before horizontal)

6:39 pm

yes, cyber...... : / a four letter word, beginning with P that means verse, then drop the R in where I said...

6:42 pm

ty, TY, Babbler -- thought I was to drop an r, not add one! Got it now.

6:42 pm

good evening all babblers on deck! Quick request before dinner time...do 5/12 and ar 5/16 before I have a canniption fit or something similar! :/

6:43 pm

I finished!!!! :D hang on Babs1, let me just get some clues for you

6:43 pm

ar5/16 - plural of word before

6:44 pm

ren..you there? made latkes with some sour cream...and haroset---yumm! Thanks for the inspiration and recipe additions....you ate 2 much? uh-oh! :)

6:44 pm

One do5 is one who gives, the other is the one who receives. First three letters the same.

6:44 pm

do5/12 - either someone who gives, eg blood do*** or someone who receives, in which case, drop the last two letters of the other do5 and add two vowels, both the same.

6:44 pm

Hurrah Babbler!!!

6:45 pm

way to go babbler!!! i still have a gazillion to go !

6:47 pm

yes babs1 - i ate way toooo much....i love sour cream and i just kept eating....

6:47 pm

Thanks, Babbler and mab! usually try plurals...so silly and did have the d's covered...thought I was still missing one...must be time for leftover latkes, etc!

6:47 pm

temporarily giving up on the no4/4 BUT any clues for Pa 5/12,5/18,6/30 pls

6:48 pm

my pleasure, Babs1 : ) any more clues before I go?

6:48 pm

yep babs1- they can sit rather heavy on the brain.... i've been zoned since about 9 last night......

6:49 pm

babbler - so7

6:49 pm

pbr -- do you have no 4/4 that is Ruth's mother-in-law minus the middle consonant?

6:49 pm

pbr - no4/4 , think film genre, then swap last two letters

6:50 pm

Ren - so7 - popular show on HBO, but change last letter.

6:50 pm

ok...howzabout od 5/12?

6:50 pm

ra 5/12 (first one, following what falls on my head)? --please

6:51 pm

ok - thanks - 8)

6:52 pm

pbr: pa5/12 - like pa4/5, add a hoop on the end (polynesian garment) pa5/18 - a doggy virus (looks like P + ar4/7) pa6/30 - plural

dutchoven - you there?

6:53 pm

Babs1 - od5/12 - greek theatre. (or a chain of cinemas in the UK, and in Florida too, apparently)

6:54 pm

cyber - ra5/12 - ra + hail fellow well ***

6:54 pm

oooooh!! that was a clue-fest, wasn't it? lol! :D

6:54 pm

babbler -- finally got the no4/4 thx

6:54 pm

6:57 pm

babbler -- thx again for the pa#s now on to the pr's. Let's see how i do

6:57 pm

Brava cybernan!!!!

6:57 pm

now I need to cook supper

6:57 pm

6:57 pm

night

6:58 pm

6:58 pm

Good night, Babbler -- see you tomorrow.

6:58 pm

you might wish

6:58 pm

Good night dear Babbler. Have delicious dreams.

7:05 pm

I'm enjoying your icon, Ren. It is a menorah and a grapefruit? I like how you are lighting the candles one by one.

7:07 pm

how 'bout the pr5/12 before the last pr4/5 -- maybe it is the second pr5/12

7:07 pm

oh wow - thanks mab! i didn't know if it was that clear - i'm on a very small notebook so i don't always see what i want to see. 8)

7:08 pm

good evening all. any clues for the ap's? they are probably laughing at me that i can't find them but .... i can't!!

7:08 pm

I can even see the hebrew chanukah at the top. I am on a notebook too.

7:08 pm

loosing brain cycles to the first two pr 4/5's feel like I've monkey typed all possibilities...awaiting rescue and a fish slap!

7:09 pm

Do the colours of the candles hold any significance, Ren?

7:09 pm

aknitter...put your ap*** before you go the kitchen...don't want you messing up your pretty clothes, now! Then you will be ap*****

7:10 pm

pr 4/6 (here's the fish) - baby carriage pr 4/6: pr + 2 vowels

7:10 pm

no nan - just wanted something colorful -we have all colors, blue, white, blue & white - or just white, i'm actually using hand dipped sage candles this year.

7:10 pm

The ap's are related. Ap5 - what you wear over your clothes whilst cooking, and ap7 what you are once you've put on your ap5.

7:11 pm

thanks, cybernan --I need the pr 4/5's though, not 6's...

7:11 pm

ty babs no wonder i couldn't find them, kitchen? what's that? cook is a four letter word LOL

7:11 pm

yep - mab - i must have my color toned down...or maybe it's the lighting - i can see it now as well... 8)

7:12 pm

pr 4/5 -- both end in vowels (second one ends in a double vowel)

7:13 pm

brb - need to get something...8)

7:15 pm

cybernan...sorry...I realize the double vowel one was a 4/5...but I don't see how you can get another pr 4/5 ending in a vowel...hmm

7:16 pm

oops, got it! *slapping self upside the head!*

7:16 pm

pr 4/5: pr + much *** about nothing, drop the middle consonant pr 4/5: a lot of people go on a shopping sp*** on boxing day ( drop the s)

7:16 pm

Babs1 pr4/5 sounds a bit like the front of a boat

7:17 pm

how #bout the second pr512

7:18 pm

Speaking of shopping, I finally bit the bullet, braved the mob, went out and bought a pre-lit Christmas tree today --------no more stringing lights ----Yay!

7:19 pm

pr 5/12: pr +first person, singular + opposite of off

7:21 pm

Christmas trees come pre-strung with lights now? That's a stroke of genius!

7:22 pm

cybernan -- thx bunches -- on to the r's

7:23 pm

One of those things I wish I'd thought of, Mab!

7:24 pm

Are the lights more or less disposable, or do you take them off the tree when the season is over?

7:27 pm

Permanent lights, all you have to do is unplug each section of the tree (comes in 3 sections), pull the sections apart and put it in the box! -- lights stay on the branches ready for the next year.

7:28 pm

whittling down to 4 now...so 6/27?

7:28 pm

good evening!!!! how is everyone???

7:28 pm

so 6/27: sounds like a British coin

Hi alien

7:36 pm

heavy on the rum part, cybernan!!!

7:37 pm

I think you are right mab, I think it is partly because of the long hours that had me run down and left me vulnerable ..... and now I won't even get paid for today because I had no time left in vacation or sick days for the year....

8:03 pm

Hi all! Getting a late start today. Any help w/the so 7/32?

8:03 pm

when i see that po word - i start singing that song from a big hand for a little lady....8)

8:03 pm

Thanks mab, renfield & pbr!!! pbr - I always think of peanut butter when I see your name!

8:03 pm

hey pbr - how's your trip so far?

8:04 pm

so 7 - the highest voice in a four part choir, with a different vowel at the end

8:04 pm

me too mama b - that's a warm fuzzy feeling!!! thanks prb for making me smile!!!

8:05 pm

Thanx Mamabear. Only 12 more to go..........

8:06 pm

you're welcome, Nonny. You have plenty of time to finish!

8:09 pm

renfield -- so far so good. I haven't done the touristy things yet -- tomorrow it is off shopping to find souvenirs, celebrate a birthday with a family friend -- Thursday is the day for London, and then Friday back home. What is funny (to me), is there was snow here today -- it was unnverving to the people here, all 1/4 quarter inch of it. I left 8 inches behind.

8:09 pm

Might i get a clue for the 3rd pa6/24?

8:11 pm

pa 6/24 ... if you bump into someone, you might say "oops, pa**** me!!!!"

8:11 pm

pa6/24..excuse me, pa**** me!

8:11 pm

3rd pa6/24 - to excuse

8:11 pm

amazing pbr! where are you going shopping - and at what time???

8:12 pm

Thanks. Great clues, but it seems I've got that one. Must be the 2nd i'm missing. sorry about that.

8:12 pm

Renfield -- time and place to be determined by my friends I am staying with!!

8:13 pm

same word but with a double vowel at the end instead of the on

8:13 pm

same first four letters you already have then two same vowels on end for pa6/24

8:14 pm

only 70 words to go!!!!

8:14 pm

ah, got it. Thanks!

8:15 pm

you can do it, ren!!!!!!!!

8:16 pm

i think i can - i think i can.....

8:17 pm

I think I'm going to go take a hot shower ... maybe the steam will be good for my throat so I can stop this incessant coughing and try to get some sleep.... good nite all!!! Sleep well and sweet dreams!!!!

8:17 pm

how many words today?

8:18 pm

148

8:19 pm

thanks, mamabear

8:19 pm

Mama: boil chopped garlic cloves and then put a towel over your head and breath in the steam. I guarantee it will help.

8:19 pm

sleep well mama -

8:20 pm

thanks for the tip, mab!!! Will have to get some garlic and try that..but not tonite....

8:20 pm

thanks renfield - you too!!!!! (((((((renfield & mab)))))))

8:22 pm

Well, rest is the key thing. Rest well Mama.

8:22 pm

mab - do you have the so 6???

8:23 pm

Stuck on the last three pa 5/12, 5/18 & 6/30. Any help out there?

8:24 pm

Yes Ren; that's the one that sounds like a british coin or a ruler, but is spelled phonetically.

8:25 pm

pa 6 = pa 4 make it past tense then take that workd and add a loop on the end then the last is the a canine disease

8:25 pm

nonny -- do you have the pa 5/18 that is the dog virus?

8:26 pm

is there a clue for the do 5/12, not the one that would be to give

8:27 pm

Same word aknitter, but the receiver.

8:28 pm

Don't think I know the dog virus. Or else I do and I'm too tired to figure it out.

8:28 pm

ty mab, perhaps some on could do 5 me a few brain cells

8:28 pm

hola mab - mucho gracias!

8:28 pm

well nonny if you had the virus you;d be tired, i'll try to think of a better clue

ah... everyone is here... HI ALL!

8:29 pm

nonny -- the first half of the pa word ... golfers play this on a hole. the 2nd half to cast a ballot without the last letter

8:30 pm

last letters, sorry

8:30 pm

The dog virus sounds like something neutral in kosher terms. Use the first three letters of pa4 and end with a victory letter and a hoop. Add s for the 6.

8:30 pm

hey mrp

thep's are really something!! struggling with them

8:33 pm

since it is 2:30am here in jolly ole London, guess I had better get some shuteye. Peace and good to all

8:33 pm

Thanx Mab & Aknitter. Down to the pa 5/12. Then I'm DONE!!! HELP PLEASE???

8:34 pm

Good night pbr. Have a wonderful London day tomorrow.

8:34 pm

peace out pbr = enjoy your trip!!!!

8:36 pm

FOUND IT!!! And all by myself!!! YEA ME!! I'm done and out of here. (Unless anyone needs a bit of help?)

nonny gets *~*~*~FIREWORKS!~*~*~*

8:37 pm

WOW!!! I GET FIREWORKS!!! THEY'RE LOVELY!!!!

8:38 pm

way to go nonny!!!

8:38 pm

Yey Nonny!!!! (sorry I didn't see your request for your last word)

8:39 pm

ma8 ??? pleading and begging???

8:40 pm

Stranded on a desert island!

8:40 pm

knitter...if yer stuck on a deserted island...like Gilligan...you are ma8!

8:40 pm

You've been abandoned on an island. Or else it's a pt of a pretty dark red.

8:41 pm

ok mab! great!

8:41 pm

ty, found it. i always seem to miss the endings .. s, ed, er

8:41 pm

then lose the past tense & you'll have the ma4

8:42 pm

Is Dutchoven on tonight???? Maybe just reading and not writing???

8:42 pm

ok cath!!

8:42 pm

hmm...i'm missing one of the 7 letter words tho...not even sure where to start with it :(

8:43 pm

Cathyr, female opera singers must be dressed to protect their costumes in the kitchen.

8:44 pm

got the ap5.....

8:44 pm

dc - good clues!!!

8:46 pm

tks DC...got the ap5 and the ap3...not sure what the other 7 letter one even starts with.

8:46 pm

not so good on the O-words either.

8:47 pm

ugh...still have 61 words... "zzzzz"

8:47 pm

cath - there are 2 clues in dc's answer - the ap is past tense 8)

8:48 pm

The other 7, Cathy, is so - pretend it means plural opera singers.

8:49 pm

Sorry, Cathy, i didn't mean to be so obscure. :)

8:51 pm

AHHH!!! Now I got it!!! Thanks!!! lol... dc...was stuck on the kitchen splatter protector part of your clue!!!

8:57 pm

Does anyone have a clue for the va5 please? Making me crazier.

8:58 pm

plural of va 4 - sorta like what dracula is w/o the ire

8:58 pm

Theda Bara(s)

8:59 pm

ohhhh good torg!!!

8:59 pm

Geeeeeez. Thanks Torgone, you lovely man.

8:59 pm

Plural of the va4/9.... if you ever heard of the Brit band Transvision va... (add an S)

9:01 pm

Gosh, thanks and yw!

9:04 pm

I tried the va4 with the i, the o -- the s? nah.

9:05 pm

One gentle tap from the gefilte of plurals coming up ..

9:05 pm

va 4 = what dracula, is take away the last 3 letters of va***** and for va 5 make it plural

9:06 pm

gefilte?

9:06 pm

get ready torg.....

9:06 pm

Lox, nova...?

9:07 pm

Are you trying to be more yiddishkite for Chanukah?

9:08 pm

anj needs to add gefilte fish to the list of fishes....

9:09 pm

I'm starving.

9:09 pm

i love lox - but patooie on gefilte fish!!!!

9:10 pm

i could sure go for a bagel, cream cheese and lox...

9:10 pm

I like just a bit of it, several months apart.

9:12 pm

lox mab or gefilte fish?

9:12 pm

gefilte just a bit, lox anytime.

Hey all... Babble got all crazy-fancy while I was away (and by 'away' I mean 'away from Babble', not anything exciting like 'away in Europe')! At any rate, I have nearly a month off work to visit my fiance, and he will have to work at some point, so you'll probably see more of me again.

9:13 pm

OK - good answer!

9:14 pm

I'd really like some chicken soup with matzos, right now.

9:14 pm

ok rfh - 8)

9:14 pm

I've got some cream cheese in the fridge right now . . . .but no bagels.

9:15 pm

stop mab - you're making me crazy - torg - you got any chicken soup???

9:16 pm

I can whip up a mean pot of chicken soup! I have some homemade broth in the freezer ..

9:17 pm

One year I went to a seder where the matsoa balls were so dense that when you stuck it with your spoon, or tried to, it would go flying across the table. My hostess said, I like my naedeles firm. (like rocks, they were)

9:17 pm

let's go mab - i've got some matso mix here....

9:18 pm

We'll be right over torgone. Start defrosting.

9:18 pm

LOL mab!!!!... how about some chicken pate????

9:19 pm

I rarely meet a pate I don't like. And I love chopped chicken liver, which is essentially pate.

9:21 pm

ok and pate to go w/ that torg.....

9:23 pm

where's bab1? she needs to get in on this as well!!!

9:29 pm

Arg. Do5? The one that has nothing to do with giving or receiving?

9:31 pm

do you have the 2nd do 4 after the giver? if so - make it plural

9:31 pm

No wonder I have no self-esteem. Thanks Ren.

9:32 pm

lol mab - you're loaded w/ self esteem - it's the little ssss's that get us

9:33 pm

I don't know yet what that word means, but I'm sure it is what I am.

9:35 pm

it's a small african village... but it sure is a good word - i feel like a do** somedays!!! 8)

9:35 pm

Oh yes. It's Afrikaans for small town. I'm such a small town.

9:36 pm

it's like when we're feeling really small.....

9:36 pm

As in 'let's get small?' I'm in.

9:37 pm

wasn't that one of george carlin's routines? let's get small - we could say let's get do**

9:37 pm

LOL mab - we thought the same thing...

9:38 pm

A psychic connection!

9:39 pm

we're so colorful!!!

9:40 pm

colorful in fact (but not showy) and in personality!

9:41 pm

right!!! eye appealing colorful!!

9:42 pm

Ok I need two for fives to finish. Going to check all fours for pluralization potential.

9:43 pm

Delightfully colorful.

9:44 pm

deliciously colorful!!!!

9:45 pm

delovely.

9:47 pm

delectably ( i can't think of any more)

9:47 pm

lol...lovely pattern everyone!!!! :)

9:48 pm

yes cath - torg's tom servo even matches the lovely blend of colors!!!

9:54 pm

ren and mab - I've been reading the log for clues and all I got ws very, very hungry! I want that bagel so badly.

9:54 pm

I can be as festive as the next guy.

9:56 pm

lol dianne - so do i torg - red goes w/ everything!

9:57 pm

It is not miami, mirvy, miops, etc. What is the other mi5????? I have the past tense of mi4/5.

9:58 pm

do you have the mi 5w/ the z?

9:58 pm

Hi guys

9:59 pm

hi narnia!

10:00 pm

Hi Narnia! Thanks Ren. Wouldn't have tried that necessarily. Tried MIRVS. Got it now.

10:00 pm

Mi5 - think unleaven bread for the ending.

10:01 pm

Great!!!!!!!!!!

10:01 pm

Any clue for the Pa 5/12?

10:02 pm

take pa 5/14 and change the last letter to a loop

10:03 pm

A princely title of honor in Persia! I overlook the silliest things. How obvious.

10:03 pm

ren - I must have tried every other combo but that one. Thanks for the help.

10:04 pm

i mean - sure mab - it's like we go there everyday!!! 8)

10:04 pm

Seriously, mab. How could you NOT know that????

10:04 pm

y/w - i got it earlier from babbler

10:05 pm

I've led a sheltered life, Torgone.

10:07 pm

For my last word, I think I'll have a peek at the value.

getting tired and cross eyed !!! need help on seonds pr 5/12 and last pr 5/12......clues very welcome :-)

10:12 pm

OK, back on, after Xmas. Not doing so well tonite, but enjoying trying.

10:14 pm

I think you need pr plus the electronically charged atom? And the last pr12 is the state of lying down.

10:15 pm

Hi Jojo and Oldhouse!

10:16 pm

hey joj and oh -

10:16 pm

how's seattle jo? i wondered where you were.

10:16 pm

Hi Mab, hope you had a great Xmas. Was your Xmas good? Ours was great.

thanks

10:18 pm

I'm doing Chanukah, and it's nice. I'm glad you had a good xmas.

10:18 pm

Ren ~ yes Seattle is good, a bit rainy, as always, but today was really a warm day. Hope it doesn't cold down, because the streets here would be hard to drive.

10:20 pm

Mab, What is Chanukah????

10:21 pm

ok mab and dianne - i'm missing a pr 5 not the one where oy look in a mirror and fix youself, not the ballerina, not the cut of meat or minister, not the mix od poetry and not he one lying down...????

10:23 pm

ok - like i found it!!!!!

10:24 pm

ren - glad you got it - need anything else?

10:24 pm

It is the Jewish festival where we light the eight candles of the menorah. Tonight is the third candle (see Ren's icon). It's called the festival of miracles because back in biblical times a wee bit of lamp oil lasted eight nights. Chanukah is a minor holiday for us - not like Christmas is for you.

10:25 pm

dianne -i finished before midnite cst for once!!!

10:26 pm

ren - congratulations :)

10:29 pm

Oh, well done Ren!!!! I'm still looking for my last pr5/14 which is the one right before lying down....

mab - you mean the one that sounds like poem with r??

10:30 pm

jojo - the jewish calendar is based on the lunar cycle rather than the solar so our holidays (and holy days) do not fall on the same day each year of the gregorian calendar. this year, it happened to coincide w/ the christmas holidays.

10:31 pm

Pr5 - add the last 3 letter of what Barret Browning wrote.

10:31 pm

I grew up with Jewish neighbors, they were wonderful, I will remember them always. They are all probably gone by now. But, they are remembered in my heart. We were always invited to their Hanaka (sp?) but I never heard of Chanukah. But, best wishes for your holiday. Enjoy

10:32 pm

Thank you oldhousejunky and Dianne! Done and done.

10:33 pm

hey mab's doing the doneness dance!!!!

10:33 pm

Oh, that's lovely Jojo. Chanukah is spelled lots of different ways, probably the same thing you are remembering.

10:35 pm

Hello lovely babblers...missed you tons...just back from holiday, visiting family in spain. What the basis for todays iconery...very pretty but...??

10:35 pm

I should be dancing -- there is New Orleans jazz playing on the radio. I love that song 'Do you Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans'. I still feel such sadness for the people down there.

10:37 pm

hi tbear - babbler said it was seasonal/ chanukah/ free choice - mab and i are celebrating chanukah. how was spain?

10:38 pm

Welcome back from sunny Spain, tbear!!! We missed you! The theme for the time being is general holiday seasonry. Your icon is very pretty.

10:38 pm

Greetings.

10:38 pm

look at you harp! you are sooo cute!!!

10:39 pm

Hello Harpjane Jetson!

10:40 pm

I guess, now, by looking at all Chanukah, I guess as a child, I remembered it as Hanaka, but I guess it was misspelled. They always gave us kids Xmas gifts, and even hired us to do chores at their bakery in Seattle. I will always remember them, they all were such good, honest and loving people. Best to you Mab, Happy Chanukah.

10:42 pm

jojo - how are you feeling?

10:42 pm

Thank you so much Jojo.

10:46 pm

Hi Everyone -- sorry I haven't been able to chat -- been busy working on the grid -- only go on about an hour and a half ago and only have 5 to go :) Need clues for ca5/12 ma5/14 no5/10 & 6/18 so6/27

10:47 pm

mab: You have no idea how much my jewish neighbors meant to me while growing up. Now, I am probably telling my age, so now no one will respond to me. But, what they did for me and my family was back in the 50's and 60's. OK, I understand if no one wants to chat with a 60 year old woman. But, Mab, I really loved my Jewish neighbors, forever. I will never forget them.

10:48 pm

ca 5= ca4 insert r before the last vowel

10:48 pm

I promised this evening to Kirsten and she generously let me Babble while she was cooking dinner -- and when she saw how well I was doing let me keep going ;)

10:48 pm

I think I'll take a little look at ebay. I've been coveting a silver dreidel, but since one of my cats is going to need an expenive treatment (for hyperthyroidism) I shouldn't spend. I'll just look.

10:50 pm

Same here 8 to go including: pa6/24 (one next to excuse me) Pa5/12 pa5/18 pa6/30

10:50 pm

jojo - girl - you get back here - there is no age here - we're in babbleonia!!!!

10:50 pm

Ren: As soon as I got back from all the Xmas thing with the family, the next day my BP dropped from 185/101 to today 131/77. So I am good. My whole perception on BP is anything under 150 and under 90, I am good. Not stroke material. Thx for asking.

10:51 pm

how's this one...til I get organised. Spain was gr8,weather mixed but beautifully sunny on xmas day, good to see my ma,bro, niece and nephew.unfortunately spent xmas eve and xmas day ill with a 24 hr tummy bug, which my eldest got on xmas nite...not so gr8,but bearable...home now and able to babble....Yay!!

10:51 pm

Oh, Jojo, age is nothing. I turned 51 a couple of weeks ago. I think we have quite a spectrum here and everyone chats with everyone else.

10:51 pm

lshult -- pa6/24 -- change last two of excuse me to double vowel

10:52 pm

ma = al jolson's song about his mother - i of the niddle consonents or it was a broadwau play, and a movie w/ the 3rd vowel inserted before the last vowel

10:52 pm

thanks ren

10:53 pm

y/w wolfie great to have you back tbear!!

10:53 pm

ty, got all the p's now

10:53 pm

Chag sameach, Ishult. Hi GW.

10:53 pm

pa5/12 -- pa + *** Speedwagon (rock group)

10:55 pm

no 5 = no 4 + 1st vowel

Pfft, what a ripoff, 'voip' isn't a word! Hasn't Babble ever seen a robot destroy things with its eye lasers!?

10:56 pm

last sp6/21?

10:56 pm

running --LOL

10:56 pm

no 6 = no 4 + cross consonent + 2nd vowel

10:56 pm

lshult -- last sp6 == a pixie

10:56 pm

Ish -- is that Garfield at the temple wall? I didn't know he was Jewish.

10:57 pm

Chanuka sameach to you and everyone else Mab

10:57 pm

Mab...my beautiful Arlene (named after Garfields girlfriend) lived til 20 with hyperthyroidism...kept her on pills three times a day for 5 yrs, white fish and loadsa love....At the same time as I was,and am, hypothyroid....we shared lifes sweet ups and downs...ha ha

10:57 pm

Oh no. I see it is print now. I crack myself up. Again.

10:59 pm

Last 2 Re 5 & 6?

11:00 pm

mab will you give wolfie the so 6 clue i think it was something like this - phonically sounds like monetary or royalty

11:00 pm

re5 -- add consonant to the re4 re6 -- add vowel to the 5

11:00 pm

hey talking of age...I'm half of ninety on Friday.....and loving it....jo jo there are no age issues in Babble

11:01 pm

tbear, my vet recommended having Malka's thyroid zapped with Iodine-131. It is a permanent cure for 99 percent of cats. Only the tumor tissue is destroyed, so in most cases no thyroid supplements are necessary. Malka is so sensitive to meds, I was pleased to find out about the tx.

11:02 pm

Thanks guys, Finished Got to run, theres work to be done. Have a great day Later

11:02 pm

jojo - just go w/ the flow, talk the talk, walk the walk...suck in your cheeks and laugh as you go down the babbleonian runway...

11:02 pm

later ish

11:02 pm

YW - Have a great day, lshult!

11:03 pm

Ishult, we hardly knew yee. Bye.

11:05 pm

tbear: You are still a kid. Live your life to the fullest. The alternative is much harsher.

11:06 pm

GW, did you get the so6? It sounds like a British coin or a ruler, but is spelled phonetically.

11:06 pm

Finished!!!! Thanks for the help!!! (*Hugs*)

11:06 pm

ok wolfie - here's the def mab gave me on eo 6 = the one that sounds like a british coin or a ruler, but is spelled phonetically.

11:07 pm

ok - well i'll take that hug and give you 3 back for each of you at the gw house - soon it'll be 4 hugs!!!

11:08 pm

Well done GW. Sorry got caught up with chat and missed request for so6, but obviously you found it. Yay!

11:08 pm

Thanks ren!

11:09 pm

now wolfie - go spend time w/ your wife....8)

11:09 pm

Ren: Thx. Will try to walk the walk, and talk the talk, hard for me tho, I am sort of anxious. But thx for asking about my BP.

11:10 pm

mab -- not to worry -- It has been veerry hard restraining my self from joining in -- lots of great topics :D

11:11 pm

I will, Ren -- thanks again! See everyone tomorrow! (*Hugs for all*) (*Extra hugs for mab, ren and JoJo*) TTFN

11:12 pm

Ok. Bye Woulfe!

11:13 pm

jojo - don't be anxious - i'm the only one allowed to be anxious!!!! i think most of us get anxious when we visit our families espcially at holidays. i once spent a weekend at my in-laws - and it was a week to long...

11:13 pm

Mab...all the best to you and malka with the zap. Have spent a large chunk of my holiday feeding the street cats in the village where my mother lives...altho they are periodically chucked a bag of leftover paella poor things don't last long as they all have cat flu and ......whatever else. They are all dob tailed and a mixture of siamese and Heinz 57....the prettiest one I called The Lone Ranger, siamese with a chocolate covered eye mask...so sweet.

11:14 pm

GreyWolfe: Thx for including me in your XT hugs. Have a great day tomorrow.

11:15 pm

GreyWoulf...have had my reading glasses improved so will make a better assessment of peoples ages next time we're us. have a lovely time with yr wife :)

11:16 pm

Ren: I've have tried all my life to not be anxious, but I have concluded that, anxious is part of my life and I have to deal with it. So, I do, the best way I can.

11:18 pm

Oh how sweet and sad, tbear. I get very emotional around stray cats, or stray anything. I hope that this will go well for Malka. She is relatively young at 11 for hyperthyroidism, so it makes the decision to go for the expensive one-time tx easier to make.

11:18 pm

jojo - grey wolf lives noblesse oblige...he is all our babbleonian gentleman

11:20 pm

Everyone: Yes GreyWolf is a gentleman. Thx Ren, for reminding me.

11:24 pm

jojo - i'm pretty hyper - like i am so hyper people still tell me to sit down and sit on my hands...if i can't move - i get anxious..... so the doctor gave me some medication adn told me to play this game...i rearly take the medicine....

11:25 pm

how about rarely???? also - i can't type a hangfire w/ out light or my computer glasses...

11:29 pm

i get emotional about stray anythings as welll mab...so does my mom - when i go over to her house, her stray cats have me trained to feed them...they sit on the big pail of food and talk to me until i get out the food and fill their bowls.

11:29 pm

I guess I am chatting with the same kind of people I am, fancy that. OK, we are all hyper, and anxious. Man, I wish I could change who I am. My BP would enjoy that. But, that isn't going to happen, so ~~ guess I will just have to live with it, unless anyone out there can directly me somewhere else. Done Yoga, didn't do anything for me.

11:30 pm

then do babble....do you work full time jojo?

11:32 pm

Ren: I am an older gal ~ 60. I am retired. Been there, done that, and bought a tee-shirt.

11:33 pm

ok - so what do you do during the day? do you babble? exercise? what, what , what??? we have an inquiring mind....8)

11:37 pm

Ren: I am not a obese older woman. I work out 3 days a week at our health club, and on the other 2 days (during the week) I walk briskly 1.5 miles in the AM. So, I am not a woman that is not active. I garden in the spring and summer and fall. My yard is beautiful. I just have high BP.

11:41 pm

That is very good Jojo, all that activity. I do yoga, but I really should get out and walk, too. I am also highly anxious, but I hide it very very well. That's probably not healthy.

11:41 pm

jojo - what do you have in your garden? herbs? roses?my mom and i have green thumbs. i love roses, and have herbs and wild iris from louisiana grwoing as well as strawberrys. i also havea pineapple tree i started from chopping off the top of a pinapple..i'll take a oicture and post it one day.

11:43 pm

just checking in...see you're all talking about anxiety, bp, and hypothroidism...wondering what you're doing with Malka? couldn't quite gather what intervention you're choosing? So many people default to drugs and surgery when there are other options..

Hello to all... I am here for the new puzzle and do not dare start this one....will hang in and so some computer clean up.... while I wait

argh! this is driving me crazy! How long have you all been doing this? Did any of you get all the words the first time? And, how do you know how many words there are in each puzzle? And how do you know how many words there are that begin with the various letter combinations. . . .

11:46 pm

Ren: No I have no Herbs, I have flowers. Mostly Glads and Dahlias. I love working in my yard, and I work hard. Still have to dig some of my bulbs up, and will do. Do it every year, and loving it. Nice to chat with you.

11:47 pm

hi babs1and blaze - meet jojo - she's in seattle. we're just waiting on the new grid as well...

11:47 pm

Welcome lils...sounds like you might be doing this for the first time? There's 148 words today and lots of help on the board for hints...and if you upgrade to pro you get to see statistics that help loads!

11:47 pm

Hi Everyone -- nice to see all of you back for the flip!

11:47 pm

Babss1, Malka is my little tabby cat. The iodine-131 tx involves one injection and the cat does not become ill or suffer any adverse effects. I do believe, however, that she may glow for a few days. Hyperthyroidism in cats is very common and, unlike in people, indicates a tumor in the thyroid, non-malignant. I love to garden too, although I've never had a lot of space to do so. I love flowers and herbs.

11:48 pm

lil spot.... you are very new.... first when you are a pro babbler it is in the stats panel...... although there is alink to the Babanon site... that will take you to the stats and all the info about the grid.... words, words per tile etx.... Hang in there it takes practice and time that is why it is so addictive..... any more questions just keep asking...

11:48 pm

jojo...I used to live in Redmond, WA...kinda miss Seattle area, but not as much as I miss California. What's weather like in Seattle this week? Have you lived there long?

11:49 pm

welcome lils.......another tip: Look under friends of babbl, click on babblers anon, general, brandyjack (stats) and you will find a 2 letter word list that is posted anywhere from 10 minutes to 4 hours after the start of the new game.

11:50 pm

Hi Blaze -- how was your Christmas?

11:51 pm

Mab: Not good to hide your anxiety. I did it for years and now I have high BP. Yoga, (they didn't have that in my day) may have you relax enough to not have anxiety. Try it. Don't listen to me, all I tell you is what I have experienced but not what is right for you.

11:51 pm
