Morning Owl... Hope you had a great Xmas
onyx - did you have formol?
that was it oh well better luck next time
formes and formol were the last two. I got formol at the last second myself.
I tried to give you a clue for it (high school dance....) but I guess it didn't enter in time.
And it's confirmed, 161 words. Stats posted at Babblers Anon.
And a Good Morning to everyone -- had to give yesterday a pass -- real life intruded to prevent me from playing :)
I got it from the formal dance clue.
i9/66
real life is such a pest.....
gets in the way of babbling
yes, thanks deb! and yours?
true, Brandyjack -- but it pays the bills so I can continue to Babble :)
It was good ty :)
Babble to your heart's content, but be sure to never get out of step with life! Happy Babbling, everyone!
No worries on that score, Jac (*Hug*)
Good Evening/Morning Everyone.
Oh my goodness! Head cook's just realised she has a houseful here! She's in (obviously!), her Man is (zzzing), so is her son (21) and daughter (19) and her boyfr(also 19), and step-daughter,11.
Hi c-nan!
Hi Everyone! How's it going?
Hugabugs!! (*HUG*)
i9/66
i8/45
Hi Hugabugs. I may have to step out to buy some milk for my tea (don't needmuch!) when they all wake up and start eating all their various cereals and porridge.
c7/32 o7/32
signing out now, whilst listening to lyn skyn. See you all later!
Your c7 is included in the 9 Woulf...
Have fun, Jac -- see you tomorrow :) (*HUG*)
ugh, this puzzle has too many vowels
My thoughts exactly LA
True Leslie -- the I's have it --AAAA!!!!!!
You have succeeded in confusing me, Debs :\
It isn't bad enough the grid is full of vowels but they all seem to be in the wrong place!!!!
c8/45
Theres a c7 included in the c9 word!
I mean a c7 included in the i9 word... Im getting confused now....lol
(*The light dawns*) OH! Thanks Debs-- I was noting a different c7 :D
Thanks Debs
There really should be an e around that c.... I keep seeing seance
hey c-nan -- it's your turn to be in the grid today ;D
so I see -- I was in it yesterday too -- my real name!
I didn't play yesterday -- too many words, not enough time
s7/28
This puzzle is really stinky -- only have 59 words so far, and slowing down dramatically.
only 69 here
I have c7/32 x 2 and c7/36... but damn if I can find that c8
s7/32
c/8 Trite, dated, melodramatic, or mawkishly sentimental
Thanks Debs! got it
Anytime :)
c 7/32 not the eyes?
Thank you Debs -- I'm determined not to look at brandyjack's list until I'm half way there.
Back in a few -- back rub time :)
Thanks Temple
I worked so hard on yesterday's puzzle to finish and then didn't gain one point...so am going to decide if I will continue to play...I am so so sad... <-------tears slidding down my cheeks
yw : ) - am missing the other c7/28...
Something needs ironing because it's this... c7
tha's a c7/32... i thought someone said there wer 2 c7/28sand i have only one : (
HAIL AND HELLOS to all.... I love coming into the grid when there is a great clue waiting for me... thanks
there are 2 c7/32's
Have 2 c 7/32's and a c 7/36 -- there are two 7/28's as well?!!!
luv the meaning of the ah word...great way to start off the new year!
Hi Blaze -- it's a stinker!
Morning Blaze... Hope you had a great Xmas :)
Hi Blaze
debs... great Christmas and still having a great time...
Just found a 3rd c 7/32
a7/32
Back for a little bit more :) Hi Blaze! (*Hug*)
hello to hugs...gw..cybernan.... I am grid locked and can not keep up with the chat at the moment.... not ignoring you .... just concentrating.....
judie -- don't give up just cos your ranking didn't shift, it takes a lot to have a significant alteration in your stats due to all the other players involved in the game Remember, Babble is about the fun and camaraderie rather than the scores -- if it was about the score, there would be prizes (and a lot fewer hints ;) )
only 2 c 32 in BJ's list...hmm
c7/32 x 2
There's a cr 7/32
would anyone mind giving a hint for that second c7/28 - not the one to do with eyes?
There are 2 c 7/32's having to do with the eyes and one that is your buddies
i7/28
ty - i have all c7/32ss & c7/36...stil missing a c7/28...
I've got 3 c7/32's and and one c7/36!
ooops...i meant only 2 co 7/32
gawd how many c7's are there?
me too, Debs, but I don't see a c 7/28 to do with the eyes.
There can't be a c7/28 -- the c is 2 points plus 1 pt for the remaining 6 yields 32
I was just gonna point that out GW... thanks!
after the multiplier, that is
<<bangs head on wall in total confusion!
I don't think there is a c 7/28
(*gently stops Debs from doing further damage to herself*) Relax, Debs and have a (*Hug*)
it may very well be time for bed.... % {
Thanks for confirming my suspicions, GW
Runs round room looking for padded cell and DIY hug jacket!

Any clues for the o7 and s7s, please?
WOOF

Ermm... just means Im laughing too much and need to run to loo.....lol
okay, GreyWoulf, you are right, so back to the grid..thanks.
Welcome back to the fold, judie --- (*HUG*)
welcome judi.... it is great fun .... even when we are struggling.....very addictive....LOL
ok - there's soy sauce; so why not hoisin?
hoisin is a word... just not a legal babble word....
Good question Temple -- probably considered a proper name!
ok... I got c7/32x3 and c7/36 now
ok deb...you're taking the mick outta me! IHTS ;)
There are 2 ho words that begin the same way, however.
Hey GW -- how about a clue for the s 7?
thanks nan

Thanks Hugabugs -- missed the past tense

se7/32
Thank you, GW. Have now passed the half way mark, so will put this away until tomorrow morning. Ciao, everyone
good night Nan
G'Nite c-nan -- see you tomorrow :) (*Hug*)
'night 'nan
Nites nan!
broll, did you get the o7? Sorry, just saw your request when I scrolled back
bye, nan : )
not yet, gw
on7 -- biblically phrased term for self pleasure
Found it, broll -- just couldn't leave without looking!
thx. I'll work on it.
...and also on 7 the one who engages in it
Thanks Griff -- missed that one :)
thx. Got them both.
Now 10 of 11 7-letters identified. Anyone have no. 11?
I've only got the 10
broll -- I have a7 c7 x4 o7 x2 s7 x 3 does that match what you have?
yes.
I have an i7... but no a7
Still working on se7/28. Have a different 5/10, and makes no sense with your clue!
Hug - an7 - "The belief in the existence of individual spirits that inhabit natural objects and phenomena." what's your i7?
Just got the a7... so I have 11 7-letter words now
oops - the 7 is actually one who believes the def I gave
i have the apes and the fishermen... but not hte last s7...hint?
Temple -- where the fishermen operate
the i7 is really crazy
Where the fisherman would be.
fish please...
on 7's help please?
68 words to go but will put away until tomorrow... must truddly off to slumberland... see you tomorrow...
bye blaze...
G'nite Blaze... sleep well
night, blaze...
G'nite Blaze -- I'm about to join you -- still not seeing the i7 (*Hug*)
gw: most in5...
Oh, the in 7? that's easy - just extend the previous words to the mostest
GW - it runs off the i5/10, i6/18x2 and the i7/28
Thanks Griff -- I was looking at the wrong starting point... Again!
The last G is laughing at me, I just know it -- I have gh4 and gi4 x2 -
how many words please?
161 words
That's what I have too GW... and I'm missing the last H as well
I have your g's but no real clues for 'em...
Two of the gi's are identical but for last letter, the other one means you didn't get all the details but you got the essence of the situation...
oh geez... the only "real" word! ;o)
Thanks Griff -- that got it for me -- was the 3rd gi4 :)
Ayuh. :)
Hugs - we are complementing each other tonight -- I had the real word ;)
so...does anyone have clues for on 7's?
GW - I bet if we compared lists, we'd have them all.
But with 46 to go, I must to bed myself... Farewell to all (*Hugs to all*) (*Extra hugs for Griff, Hugs, Temple and judierae*) TTFN
babs see 1:40 am post
Night night GW!!

grif - wait until next year - centennial - and the conservatory is chopped in half while constructing new children's garden...
Hmmmm, I might just have to think about that plan!
grifs i'd love to see your state...
ty temple!
Well, ya better hurry, between the global warming and the poor polar bears stranded to die at sea, and the earth's wiggle putting our auroras out of business, we may begin to resemble North Seattle ere long. :)
maybe i'll just go to the jersey shore...
Haaaaaa! There ya go. Same same!
nite grif, all...see you tomorrow!
'Night!
Well, 25 left to go and they'll have to wait till tomorrow! Night All.

Morning, dear friends :)
Morning sprite!
Hey Griffs, how are thing at your end?
Just fine, thanks. Pretty nice grid today.
Looks interesting. Found the first word without even looking at the grid, LOL, my eye fell on a def for an A7 and I knew the word right away.
:))) There are a lot of build-on words today.
For reasons completely out of my reach to grab, I keep wanting to make 'hyacinth'. Guess this will not be one of my better babble days. ;)
161 words 4.94 1937 And bedtime for me!
WTG Griffs! Sleep well, cu soon (when I manage to get up earlier and offer you some company)
You have a good day!
Finally made it! Hooray - nighty night all!
Congrats, marolan, and sweet dreams!
Hi Sprite - how are you?
Hi Dianne! I'm fine, not really going great with this grid though. And you?
I'm good - just finished - which is good since I won't be able to get on in the morning.
TImezones are funny things. It is 10.30 in the morning here and I should be getting ready to do the shopping. But I want to do the grid first, get it out of the way for the day ;)
It is 5:30 in the afternoon here. Just starting to get dark.
Congrats on finishing, have a great evening :)
Hi folks! Trying to go through the first half! Too many vowels!!!
Hello Sherry I thought I was the only one playing at the moment it's been very quiet . I have to agree with you about the vowels.
This one makes me nervous: I'm already using Brandyjack's list.
Iv'e already used BrandyJacks list I wish I hadn't started it got to out out shortly
I'm trying not to look at it too much! For the moment, I'm using it for inspiration! lol!
tiger and Sherry - the Co's are tough but after the 1st one the next 5 have the same first 3 letters and then the next 9 have the same first 3 letters. Have fun.

Speed: if you're stuck with this co, try googling this, it should help: Trite, dated, melodramatic, or mawkishly sentimental. Still 98 to go but I'm off! Got an English lesson to give this afternoon.
Sorry Speed...I forgot you're a little younger than me...
just curious, are there any words using the K?
No snozrap.

THANKS SHERRY! enjoy the lesson!
Hi all. and especially SAM.starting late today.

bye everyone have fun! bye jaydee!
blimey. 53 words found and i've been bled dry. nasty puzzle today!
bye sam
An icy good morning to everyone. All kinds of nasty frozenstuff predicted for the next 48 hours. 64 left to find and no inspiration in sight!
But the 7's, 8's and 9's are all done so if anyone needs help with those just ask.
Yes please, Eva. The in7/28.
hydra-your in5/10 taken to it's extreme.
Thanks! I was approaching it from the wrong angle.
de nada
thanks Eva...that clue helped me too
any clues for the on?/?
first number plural
PRing- the long on's come from the biblical term for self-pleasuring - the act of doing it and the person who does it.
The n's are making me crazy! Does anyone have some clues?
jaydee-where do you live in Israel?
na 4/4 has two vowels in the middle (the same vowel)
Thanks pinecone! Didn't have that one. I can't find any for the n further down in the puzzle. There are 2. Do you have them?
do you mean na words Eva?
Eva. Im in Ra'anana. half hour from Tel Aviv
na 6/18 think of an adj. related to the nose but you may have to add a vowel to the middle
okay, i'm back for another look at this painful grid!!
I don't know if they're nas or not. But it is the n in the second row from the bottom. Jaydee-have a bunch of family in the Galil-Shadmot Dvorah-and a scattering in TA, Haifa, etc. How did you end up there?
Hi, Ishult, manishma?
Eva, nicer weather than England!!!
k'sut aiyef. Working hard. Just dropping by from time to time to find a few more words (sometimes)!!
My nose clue will help you Eva
good clue, hit it on the nose, you could say
pinecone-can't think of anything but naesal and neasal and neither of those are words! Probably time to and take a bath and allow the neurons to regenerate.
your n-word is close Eva...take out the e and add a different vowel to the word
Just about anywhere has better weather than England.
have a good, relaxing hot bath
7 am and getting ready to go home. night all.
its been fun and will see you again tonight.
good night
Good Morning All, Stuck at 70 words. Need a 2nd letter list.
anyone with a clue for ah 6/24?
A Buddhist and Hindu doctrine expressing belief in the sacredness of all living creatures
Can't get last two na words, the na4/4 and 6/18. Any clues?
hydra, do you still need clues for those 2 na's?
FMitch, I was beginning to think every other Babbler had fallen off the end of the universe! I have the na6/18 now, thanks, but can't get the 4/4 that comes before it.
LOL hydra. You will kick yourself na4/4 - your mums mum (plural)
Okay whats todays theme?
I've got that one so can miss out on the kick. It's the last 4/4 I can't get.
FMitch, I've got the Indian bread, too.
the plural mums mum is the last 4/4, a singular version could be the one you are missing.
Hello, all. I'm alive and babbling! My power cord sh** the bed. I've been hopping on other peoples' computers whenever I can. Lends a whole new meaning to surfing. This looks like a stinky one today. Maybe I shouldn't have bought the new cord!??
Oh no! What a fool. (Blushes deep scarlet.) There are two mum's mum ones. One is dialect (unless it also has another meaning). Forgive my idiocy, it's my last word so I'm tired. That's my excuse anyway!
gramma, it's a good one, so you'll be pleased you got the cord.
Hi gramma and grandan hydra - it's OK I made exactly the same mistake earlier!
Well, I'll give it a try.^_^
Hi FMitch
Hi grandan, don't think htere is a specific theme again until the new year.
hydra - are you finished then??!!??
67 words and I appear to be stymied...came to a screeching halt!
anyone with some help for an 5/12,6/21,7/32?
JJ, how bout the cookie flavoring?
JJ, small buffalo
the small buffalo is an 5/10 and an 4/4.
i know and so is the spice.....looking for the longer ones
Part of the eye
JJ, intention of stealing an5...add plural for an6
Good morning everyone. does the in8 and 9 feed off the of the in5/10 like the in7?
i don't understand that intention of stealing clue :/ and what was the part of the eye clue relating to?
Hi Marc, no they don't. add the in to yr c6/21 and 7/36
the in 8 and 9 are to make bigger.
miametro, think of a word for cats, dogs etc. knock off the last 2 letters and add a vowel
thansk Mia and FMitch got them
JJ, are you still there?
You're welcome marc. I am off for a whiile now as must go and prepare a casserole. Bye all, TTFN
yeah.....finally got an 5/12 and an 6/21

Looks like a hard puzzle today :(
Hey there, munner. 161 words..happy holidays!
Hi sherb..welcome to my world
Good Morning All: Been reading log and entering words getting stuck at 60 words, tough one but interesting
Hang in there speed, it only gets worse
hi gramma :) hi speed :)
Thx for the encouragement gramma!! LOL
Morning gramma. Enjoying the grandkids over the holidays?
too many vowels...
any clues for the or 5/ 10?
I want you to know Speed that I think you have the potential to grow up and run the world. I would like to live in a world where someone like you was running it. You are great.
morning everyone!
By the way, Speed, I say this because I am stuck at 36 words struggling for every word. When is your Bar Mitzvah we all want to come.
lol... Marc, I think you meant speedfreak sam?...
Sorry to confuse Marc, I am just plain speedfreak, an adult female, other one is speedfreak sam....9 yr. old boy, not what I would want to be LOL
Munner, sorry I was soooo long to respond the darn toilet needed repair. Yes, I utterly enjoyed the Christmas festivities. And you?
I did how embarrasing. Hope you don't take offense but isn't Spreadfreak Sam something else for 9 yrs old? At least give me that.
morning! Afternoon! wherever you are...clue help for se 7/32?
By the coast Babs
he's a bright boy, that's for sure... though his father also uses the same sign in, and I can't always tell who's talking
hi efor :) hi Babs :)
hey, pad...beqautiful icon...even deeper blue than mine!
Why thank you Babs
got it! thanks, pad
Doesn't bother me Marc..:))
anyone have clue for sa /21?
Marc. Speedfreak Sam really is 9 and really is something else. I am related to him!!!
Okay, so I'm back for yet another bash. My current quest is to find my missing h's, starting with ho5/12? got the one to lift up
Ishult, just change the last letter to an e
sa 6/21 - oriental noodles
thanks peri
Ishult its very similar just change second to last letter
Ishult, you are welcome
sa6/21 - don't get the oriental noodles clue
whoops typed that all wrong!!
sa 6/21 - try Hawaiian fast food
Dippnall, nope that doesn't help me either
Peri: sa + shortened 'I am' + opposite of 'out'
sa 6/21 - google 'Hawaiian fast food' - first link!
now to clse in on last two d's d5/14 & second d5/12?
de5's are related: belief in a god, and one who believes in a god
d5/14 - belief based on reason d5/12 - follower of....
Dippnall, thanks found it with google. trishtrash, thanks
took a while, but finally got 'em, ta
hi everyone!
Hey Sam, how things?
Hello, Speedfreak Sam, back for more fun?
hi sam :)
great again dad has been playing babble when he should have been working so now I only have 67 words to go!
A team effort, then!
haz indeed I have! hi sherb!
I'll have to go again soon. I've got to 102 words but will have to consult BJ's list for the rest.
I have 94 words.
You'll catch up with me!
why hasn't brandyjack posted the list???
sam - he has, if you follow the usual link, it's there :)
He has Sam, he posted it early this morning on babblers anon
He has posted, I just haven't printed it out the way I normally do. It's called torturing yourself!
he has
oh yeh!
Hi and LOL Haz, and Hi Ishult and Sherb. Have found today's grid harder than anticipated.
a minuit ago I had a glitch on the web.
Hi, FMitch - there are some nice words there but it is difficult with those vowels getting in the way in the third row.
hi FMitch :)
hi Fmitch! hi ishult!
I've been at the grid on and off today and suddenly get a run on words that build on others and then a real dry patch where none of the 6's are realted to eachother. Just have a's and c's left to do. Thankgoodness for BrandyJack!
The c's are pretty fertile territory - haven't got them all by any means.
yea, I've got 12 but now need BJ's list to help me finish them!
Greetings. Is there a theme today?
I have 83, am I close? Be gentle....
bunny - only another 78 to go... :)
bunny - you're doing real well!!!! (161 is the target) - you can do it. No specific themes until the new year I believe Harp, check out babblers profile.
there's 161 words today.
hi harp :)
How many words are you up to now Sam?
ahhh, not to bad, all the vowels are killing me, makes for some funky words, thanks!
I'm on 94 words
that's really go going sam!
THANKS! is jaydee still here???
is any one having any probs getting the page?
could use some help with all those se5's & 6's?
lshult - more specifically?
se 5/10 - river in Paris and plural se5/10 - Spanish for Mr
does anyone have some clues for some sevens please???
I only need 54 more, but have only 1 se5 (spanish man) How desperate is that!!
Remember we had the superlative this morning? Try working up to the superlative of in5/10 (it means dull or stupid)
se5/10 carpe dium or "se***" the day" and pl (excuse latin sp)
cr 7/32 - means buddies of friends
sam - cr7/36 - your clothes get like this if you lie down in them for too long...
se7/32 - at the coast
thanks sherb!
sam - have you got the se 7/32 a place we all love to go to for holidays and build sandcastles
missing three an's....
had the coastal 7
Which an's?
si7/32 - monkies
missing the other se7 though?
let me look, i'm not upgraded, i cheat and use brandy jack's list
thanks haz! thanks Fmitch!
bunny, the an7 is "the belief in the existence of individual spirits that inhabit natural objects and phenomena" ... two others are based on this one
i'd never finish without it and the clues i get...
it's not cheating bunny - it is a tool that helps us keep our sanity - well that is my line anyway!
lol, i like that line, adopting it
Ishult - I don't have the other se 7 either so can't help.
bunny - have you also tried a2zwordfinder.com and morewords.com? They can help to find some of the more obscure words.
no, i'll try em, i can usually get most of them without help...ty
there's a brand of ant-acid tablets called R****** ... read backwards, and missing an 'n', this is the other se7 (hope that's not too uk specific!)
se6/18 and se7/28 - someone who fishes with the se5/10

they both add consonants to the co6 relating to the eye
both co7's relate to the eye
Thank you my friends thats the c's done. 14 a's left and then I am finished, probably just as well as typing is deteriorating rapidly. :)

Mary -- another term for grandmother, and it's plural for your 2nd na 4 and na 5
sa6/21 a Hawaiian noodle soup
Cathy, I have those two, it's right below it.
Mary -- clues I gave are for the 2nd set of na 4 & 5. I made the same assumption at first, but there is a set before that. the Indian bread and its plural

no worries, alien... i found it, so thanks for the clue(s) :)
still lost, lol... guess i should get the an's!
add a t to your 6/21, which adds an s to your an 5/12
Sam - an plus what you call yourself (1 letter) plus mi** meaning slight fog
how bout this, rich... think of a one-celled or****** and change the rg to an n.

cr 7 - do you have the word cr6 meaning ugly old women? Add an i to get a word meaning buddies or mates.

You're welcome Doxy - Sam, sorry I don't have the other se 7 yet.
Sam it starts like the river in Paris.
yes doxy1lover.
jaydee there's only one word for a clue like this.... DAD!!!!
that is pretty funny sam
I wish your dad could help me too, Sam!
speed, if you have the se5/10 after the shore one, the 7 and 2 6's build on that one.
se5/10 - se + opposite of out + 2nd vowel
GOT IT YES! YES! YES!
Good Morning, Everyone. Speed -- think of the river that runs through Paris
Sam its a word I have NEVER heard of.So add two letters onto the end of the river. The last letter makes it a plural.
go sam! i just finished the vowels myself, which is cause for a mini-celebration
Hurrah, Sam!!!
THANKS LESLIE!
THANKS MAB!
HA HA HA! the seven box is ticked!
Well done Sam , you are terrific!!
so are you jaydee!
hi, just found this site and game. I'm already hooked...
you're one of many, angel!
anyone have a clue for the second ni 5/10?
Welcome, Angelsong. If you click on Babblers Anonymous under Friends of Babble in the box at right, you can then click on 'general' and then 'stats'. You will find a list of how many words and a breakdown of the first two letters of each word, and lots more. It is extremely helpful.
jj, ni + first part of se's
or actually it is the only ni 5/10....
Welcome Angel
thanks Mab! This is already on my Keepers list.
got it thanks!
JJ: the second ni5 means the first American born child of Japanese parents. Put ni in front of you se4.
Hi, I seem to be sadly lacking sa's. Got 6/21, 4/4 & 5/10............but that's it. What am I missing, any clues?
any clues on the second im5/12?
change your last letter on the other 5/12, efor

thanks LeslieAnn! :)
I think I have what you have Liz, sorry can't help.
found 4 to do with being sensible, are there any more?
liz if you get sign's clue there's also an alternate spelling for the basic 4 and plural
looking for help on the following sa's : 6/21, 6/18, 6/18
RRRRRRight, here I go!!! Thanks!
happy chanukah!
Chag Chanukah, Sam!
one of the 6/18s, i think, is a japanese teacher. what's on the beach - d, + what your eyes do, change last vowel
JJ: the 21 is Hawaiian noodle soup. Try googling that. The others, no have.
got that one LeslieAnn...thanks!
the other 6/18 kind of builds off the basic 4/4... opposite of crazies (not the real meaning, but who knows what that is... :)
got'em thanks!
hey, happy Chanukah! I, um, don't know what Chanukah is, but I have friends who do, so happy Chanukah!

I'm doing chanukha; we're about halfway and it's nice. I love the candles and menorah -- sooo pretty.
Take care doxy. Must go pick up my cat at the vet.
hi all
Hey Gem! Good Christmas?
I love your icon, it's so...you :D
not bad miya how was yours huni?
hey mab, miyavi, doxy, schroeder, everyone else too!!!
Hey Hurshy :) GEM! Icon! I only just *properly* noticed
hiya!
i know! ;D
and my christmas was good thanks...lots of lovely dir en grey stuff to get depressed with lol :D
lol and midnight mass?
I'm absolutely fine miyavi...... Just listening to my Madonna back catalogue which I've stored in Media Player, and trying to finish today's Babble (I've got until 2:00am tonight to complete it, 'cos then Dr. God is shutting the site down for a while to carry out some maintenence work or something, as you've probably gathered by now...)
does anyone know jow long it's shut down for?
Hey Hurshy, how's it going.....slow for me today
Cool :) I'm locked in a battle against my new iPod...the iPod is winning :/ Gem, don't get me started! It finished at 1 in the morning, and the service was in Latin!!! LATIN!!!
Miyavi, I have heard those can be a pain....they actually were showing how to load them on our morning news here
latin?!
woot! done with this crazy vowel-filled grid. any clues?
yeah, it's a little slow for me too, schro, so far. let's see, 7 minutes, 57 words (no list yet).
Schro, wish I'd caught that! Mine's fine with Miyavi, but is rejecting Dir en Grey. Obviously I got a picky one... Gem, Latin. Gloria in excelsis! And at the communion thingy they managed to spill church wine on me :/
na6's???
Doesn't everyone know that God speaks Latin? (lol)
omg! oops proberly not the best thing to say!
Vicuna, I think God was as confused as I was :/
na 6/18 if someone talks through their nose, they sound na***, add a vowel between third and fourth letter
Miya, I think you're probably right!
Don't worry, my sister got told off by a guy in robes for saying "Oh my God, it's freezing in here!" But it was really cold...
lol its like claire b all over again!
na 6/21 um... if c-nan founded a religion, it would probably be called na**** (best i got)
Thanks, LeslieAnn.
Vicuna, knowing my luck when I get to heaven God will be only be fluent in chat speak. "No sins! Blud, that's bare allow!"
that's a great clue, leslie ann, don't apologize for it! :)
Gem, it's something about the name 'Claire', I think.
lol
And thanks again, LeslieAnn. Maybe it's the worship of female goats???
Then again, all through the service I couldn't get a song called "The Domestic F***er Family" out of my head (thank you, Kyo), which I don't think God will have appreciated too much :/
If it's any comfort, Miya, I suspect that God is fluent in more forms of communication than C3PO.
no i dont think he would have
leslie, how about this ah business?
Vicuna, judging by the song I was singing under my breath, I just hope he doesn't speak Japanese :/ Gem, I didn't get my phone out though! reeesult. I did stand up at the wrong time though.
that's an odd word... a +a guy + what you write for college entrance exams (phoentically - two letters)
ah - Buddhist belief in not harming anything
thanks leslie ann!!!
got the na 4 and 5 for grandma but anyone have a clue for the other na 4 and 5 group?
na 4/5 -Indian flatbread
it's an anagram of your other 4/5 group
I meant na4 and na5, not na4/5
all right, i think i'll go start my day :) bye, folks.
got em...thanks again!!!
bye and thanks LA!
Leslie -- Thanks for the na 6 clue. LOL -- I've been looking for that one for a while
Bye Hurshy -- sorry I missed you today (was buried in the log)
la 5/16, please?
cnan, i'm not leaving, i was just saying bye cause leslie ann was leaving :)
OOps! -- bye LeslieAnn
anyone with a clue for the last mi 5/12 and the last mi 6/21?
JJ -- people who are underage
Don't you think reaim should be a word?
almost there......anyone have a clue for ne 5/16 or 5/10?
back *scrubs out last message*
I am not understanding what 5/16, 4/4 notation is referring to. Any help is welcome.
cnan - la 5/16 - looks very scottish (note the points)
angelsong - the first number is how many letters in a word (which starts with the two letters we type), the second number is the number of points in the word. straight points for the 4's, double for the 5's, triple for the 6's, etc. we get all these stats from the babblers anonymous link on the right side of this page, first post under "general".
can i please have a clue for the two on 7 's. please...
example the word nits would be let's say n4/8 or something.
:) actually nits would be ni 4/4, since those letters are all one point each :)
SUEL-both of them have somehting to do with the eye.
oh sorry didn't know that.
JJ - if you still need 'em, ne 5/16 is the sound a horse makes. ne 5/10 change the first letter of a de5.
'sok sam, you're cute. :)
Hi all! Have a few minutes to play. Any help w/the on 7/32 & 7/28? How about the sa 6/21?
I try hehehe!
hey nonny nonny, not there yet :)
on 7's ones are word for self-pleasure and one who does such. sa 6 is hawaiian fast food dish
Nonny, you should probably be proud you don't see the on -s. They refer to the practice and practicer of self-gratification. I, unfortunately, spotted them right away.
well i guess i should be extra proud then bc even with the clues i'm going to have to google those on's.
Thank you Hurshy!
Me too Hurshy and I don't THINK I'm a prude, by any means......
se 6/18, please? (last one in list)
Any clues for the in8 & the in9... Gracias....
on words...one ends in the customary endy for belief, philosophy, etc. and the other one ends with the typical letters for one who practices belief or philosophy...most of the letter action on the right of the grid until the endings...
i still can't find the on 7's either. but thank you for the clues
movieman - to grow
in + somethging that is crumpled + D and the in 8 without the D
Never mind -- got it monkey typing, and........... I am Done!!
Found them guys. I FEEL so enlightened now. New words---NOT TO USE!! tee hee
GO CYBERNAN!
suel:-- on 7's: self gratification (google it)
Wahooo Cybernan!! I seem to watch you finish alot---while i'm still hunt and pecking...
Yea Cybernan!!! I'm sooo proud of you.....
And to think.....Cybernan knew those two on words too. tsk, tsk.... :-P
ni 5/10 anyone?
ni 5/10 looks japanese.
*the silence is deafening* how about the na 6/18?
Thanks very much Hurshy! got it!
Just wanted to comment, at this point, on my icon... It is part of a painting by my favourite Canadian artist, William Kurelek. He has published a wonderful book titled 'A Prairie Boy's Winter' as well as several others of his work.
It's like talking thru your nose w/an extra vowel.
na 6/18 - like "to do with the nose" but with an extra vowel stuck in between the 3rd and 4th letters
great clue, nonny!
I still don't have the Hawaiian fast food sa 6/21. Need easier clue please?
na 6/18: think of a word meaning 'related to the nose' and drop in an extra vowel
sa 6/18 (assuming this is the one you need), like karate teacher's title but change first vowel
sa 6/21: sa + first person singular + abbrev. for 1/60th of an hour.
ok, looks like i didn't have the right one. i never check the definitions. :) i'm done, btw!
I feel like a right on7/28, I'm getting nowhere with this, 50 words left and visitors arriving any minute.........there's always tomorrow!!
yahoo!!! hurshy!
Thanx Cybernan. I thought I had tried that one and it didn't take so I kept looking. I probably typde it in worng. :-}
Yay!! *loud applause for Hurshy*
AH 6/24 clue, please?
there's always tomorrow for dreams to come true believe in yourself come what may...
leslieann gave me that one, kelstar - a +a guy + what you write for college entrance exams (phoentically - two letters)
and thank you for the applause folks :)
Way to go Hurshy! *APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE* Any helpl w/se 7/32?
se 7/32 - people go to cape cod because they like the se7 (compound word)
Off for lunch now -- bye everyone and thanks for the help :)
Bye Cybernan. You coming back later?
Thanks, hurshy. I wont pretend to have any idea what that word means!.. but it was my last one!
Probably won't be back until the flip
yay kelstar!!
Yea Kelstar! looks like I'll be the last one here. I'll make sure to turn off the lights.....
I like SHORT puzzles as at least I have a slight chance of finishing them!!!!! No chance tonight, so G'night all.
Nite, nite Lizmac. How close did you come?
50 (!) to go !!
or half an hour at least!
With help, of course!
Hi babblers. I'm stuck on my last word. Sa6 -21. Help?

Well...It's official. I only just got here and I've already upgraded to Babble Pro. I think I am seriously addicted...
Welcome Angel!!! We are all addicts here...lol
I'm back for another bit. Any help w/ in 8/45, 9/66 and la 5/16?
Nonny In 8 and 9 are to make bigger, or in + Cr 6/21
DUH!!! Thanx Schroeder!!!! Right b/4 my eyes...
No prob, I have the same problem today....
la 5/16 - sounds scottish, and the points are a helpful guide.
angelsong - you need an icon now!
oh, wow, didn't realize i was reading old messages. guess i am probably all alone in the chat log.
I'm here Hurshy, just popping in an out today doing what I can..
Thanks Hurshy...u r not alone
Need a little help with the L's. I have the last 3 out of the 4. la 4/4 la 4/4 la 5/10 Can someone give me a clue on the first one?

Finished. I'm off. My eyes are boggled!! (*>_^*)
good job mr. speedfreak!!!!!
in case anyone doesn't know, our sam here is only 9. so if you don't finish, feel silly. ;)
also, here's a tip: i know sometimes when the babble is short, folks are bored waiting for the next day's puzzle. consider trying super letter linker if you have that problem. :)
someone mentioned sa 6/21.... i'm still lookin for that too...but never saw a clue... anyone?
I had help from dad.
still, really awesome sam!
oh my god ten o clock bye all!
sa 6/21 add me, myself and _, then an abbr for 60 secs

:) yw
Bye Sam, sweet dreams....

nonny - you still on?
hello, hello, anyone have a clue for in 7/28?
in 5/28 MOST in 5/10
Oh NONNY . . .
thanx, hurshy... how about co 8/45?
co8 - my 8th grade science teacher let us have co5 joke day on fridays. whoever told the co8 joke would get a certificate.
(co5 not appearing in puzzle)
co8/45...Milton Berle used to tell the co8/45 jokes ever told on tv
thanx, hurshy and ouwachita...
Thanks hurshy, that in7 was my missing 7 :)
glad i could help, schro!
I came back---again---I conquered and I'm done. YEA!!!
Way to go Nonny!!!!
hey if anyone's bored: here' s a letter linker grid i'm working on. i need a 5 that comes alphabetically between antes and hates, another between squat and those, and a 6 that could be anything! (keep in mind letter linker does not use nearly as many crazy words as our dear babble). the Q is actually a QU. here's the grid: FZHA QSOS EAHT NTIT
Hey Siamese Lady! Just saw that you're on. YOu still there???
good-oh, nonny!!
hereiam and never yet to finish a pzzle
lol
anyone have a clue for se 7/32 and se 7/28?
good evening all..I looked at this an hour ago and though "not so big tonight i will have a go for an hour or so"..proving to be trickier than i thought
se 7/32 you might visit cape cod if you like the se7 se 7/28 pl of prev se6, which is prev se5 (river in france) plus a letter
true dat, cathb!
am trying so hard to finish.... need help on my last 6 words. the last 4 se's and the si 6/21 & si 7/32.... pleeese?????
any clues for ah
Hi CathyB, I been working on it off and on all day and still have 45 left...
se 5/10 add vowel to prev se4 se 6/21 make past tense se 6/18 now change last two letters of 6/21 to not out but __ se 5/12 also related, think earthquakes se 5/10 spanish mister
si 6/21 apelike, si7 is pl
hurshy.your letter linker looks interesting (why i am lokking at that when i only have 75 words i dont lnow).i think there is a 5 letter word t****....one of Saturns moons or a film Clash of the T**** (drop the s)
yeah, that's right cathb - but i have that one, the one i need is before "those".
ah6 - a +a guy + what you write for college entrance exams (phoentically - two letters)
ah...got my 5 between antes and hates, now just need the other 5 and the 6...
hurshy...if i knew my alphabet it would help!!!..just saw you had written those...oh well back to the grid
lol cathb!
got the first part, but no idea about college exams
thanks hurshy - got all the se's = still looking for the apelike clue....
whereami - also the initials of the city where the spurs play
thirdcub - elaine used the si word in a seinfeld episode to describe the male body, if that helps...
what are the spurs? I use them when I ride
whereami - a basketball team in texas.
I wouldn't use those!!!
aha, got that other pesky 5. now what on earth is the 6?
later, need to go feed horses
Bye whereami... hurshy what 6 are you missing?
how does the a2z wordfinder site work? i can't access it myself and i'm wondering if one of you kind souls that can could figure out my 6 letter word for me. does it let you put in your whole grid, or what?
schro - not a babble 6, a letter linker 6. see my 4:24 post.
Oh yeah sorry......
it's my fault, schro, for discussing other word games in the babble log...
hurshy - haven't seen much seinfeld.... anything else on that apelike word?
sure, thirdcub. let's see. the last 3 letters are a boy's name of scottish origin.
thanks! was using the wrong i !!!!!!
ah, that'll get you every time
It's okay hurshy I'm flipping back and forth between work and the grid, my brain is not all here. (not that it ever is in one place)
if only letter linker came with a brandyjack... it's maddening to work on a 4x4, 50 word grid for half an hour and have no clue about a word...
That's why we love our Brandyjack!!!!
amen to that
any clues for 9/66?
in 9 - past tense of in8, to grow
hurshy - know the feeling well.there is a 9 letter grid in one of our daily papers..all the words need to contain a certain letter but there are no plurals, proper names etc allowed.somedays it can be very frustrating
it makes you want to pull your hair out, you mean?
hi all you wonderful people! doesn't look like i'll get to do this grid either! missed you hurshy!!!
hey ren! why can't you do the puzzle?
Renfield, what's up!!! Nose to the grindstone again..
lol hurshy...most definately..
ARRGGHH!!!!! they say it's "thanes", which i didn't try because it wouldn't take "thane" as a 5!!!!!!!!!!!!
"hurshy boat - no def listed in the ? but it's also like a girl's name le5, change the e" I don't understand this clue. There is no 'le'. So, is there a girls name that begins with 'le' and I need to change the 'le' to 'la'? What am I missing? Can someone give the the first three letters? Maybe I can move on from there. Thanks.
yes, that's right boat, the le5 girl's name is not in the puzzle. but here, here's a better clue. when something is funny you _____. change the middle vowel.
i have to work this week....end of year taxes....audits, you know - those things we study real hard for in college and once we're faced w/ them - we get this sense of - uh-oh - had 2 legal briefs to do....yeck, yeck, yeckkkkk
Got it!! Thanks :)
hey shro - i guess that's one way of looking at getting a nose job! 8)
sorry about that, boat! you should have spoken up sooner. :)
Oh, I was off-line for a while. Thanks for the help.
I have been cramming here at work also....I'm heading to a house on the beach for New Years
yw
that sounds great shro....will you be sun bathing? or babbling? or both?
No sun bathing this trip, huge storm coming in Friday morning. I don't think I will be babbling again until Tuesday, but then again you never know.......
i'll be working - and maybe babbling a little - we found that we have worked the last 5 new years......ummmmm -
good night all...too tired now and will never complete this tonight.finished on 100 -( a nice even number) so better that i thought....see you all tomorrow
I was like that for the last 7 years, decided this year I was going to actually take a day off....I'm sure I will regret it when I come back, but for now I'm standing tall.......
bye cathb!!! always nice to see you!
Bye CathB...
ok shro - stand tall! this was the 1st year we didn't talk business at our family holiday party!!!! and by the way - have a great time at the beach!!!!

GOTCHA!!! tyvvm, gnubee now just the last na 4 - did someone say bread???
the last na 4/4, shorthen either na 5, or change the last the letter of grandma

im 5/12 - think of a genetic am 5/12, change the first letter
good clue, joey
I'm not doing too well, but I guess it's not bad for a beginner's Babble.
Angelsong, where can you use the most help?
7 letter words are killing me. I've found both 8 letter words.
add a letter to your second 8 - past tense
3 co's have to do with a part of the eye
cr 7's past tense of 1st cr 6 & "political buddies"
on 7's describe "self abuse" and one who does so, named after a person in the bible
si 7/32, pl. of si6, apes
are all letters on the board used? I have yet to use K
an 7/32 an + another word for fog but change the "y" to an "i" co 7/32 Refers to a part of the eye. A favorite cob veggie + a sea snake type animal, but change the second vowel to another co 7/32 the transparent, dome-shaped window covering the front of the eye cr 7/32 when you iron your pants it has a sharp "******" in front, (continued from cr6/21) cr 7/32 An old person is considered an old ***** (cr5/12) but this is a bunch of old "*******" in 7/28 this is the "mostest" of in5/10 on 7/32 of a type - self gratification. on + the actress *** Margaret, (drop one of the constanants), + the last part of the word totalitarian*** on 7/32 this is someone who practices the above on7 se 7/32 When you are next to the ocean you are ******* se 7/28 se + opposite of "outers" (plural of se 6/18) si 7/32 apes, (plural of si 6/21) The K is not used at all, even the body of the words
an 7/32 an + first person singular + another word for fog but change the "y" to an "i" sorry forgot the middle part but corrected above
Hey ~ I am back~~again. Anyone on that I know?
Hi JoJo -- just got back on my self -- looking for my last 40 (*Hug*)
hi jojo - how are you this evening?
GW: I am just starting, busy day. Glad to hear from you, you are one of my favorites.
SMELTZDOGS in the house! how is everyone?
hey wolfie - i just arrived home from work....
Thanks, JoJo (*blush*)
Hi ren (*Hug*) Smeltz!!! How are you doing? I take it you survived the past week with your (minimal) sanity intact ;) (*HUG*)
he's one of mine to jojo!
You are welcome GW.
Ren: GW always responds to chat. That's why he is one of my favorites.
yes we survived... mostly. but we're not done yet. one of my student's dad's died... so this afternoon we went to the viewing, and now we're on our way to the Poconos.
That's right... driving AND playing Babble.
Oh dear, Smeltz -- chaos seem to be favoring you this season...
Smeltz -- have you already done the wedding?
that's right jojo - i was thinking baout starting the grid this evening - i think i need something to take my mind off of numbers 8)
perhaps 2006 will be better. maybe i'll pass my chaos to you... say... in february.
no the wedding is saturday... hence the drive to the poconos. I-80 is kind of busy tonight.
LOL, Smeltz :D
everybody say hello to Mrs.Dog. She is dictating while I drive.
I am not really sure yet ~~, if I like solving babble, or the chat. Anyone else in that mode?
I really enjoy solving the puzzle but this one was a hair-puller for me...so many oddly spelled words.
Smeltz -- you will only be about a hour away from me once you get there --- Hi Mrs Smeltz!!!
we'll be right back... rest stop!
hehe Waves frantically to Mrs Dog before they leave the car...
Hi MissyMe (*Hug*) JoJo -- Some days I am all about finishing the grid -- especially if I am here at the flip for a small one --- But EVERY day I am all about the chat :D If it weren't for the log, I probably would have stopped weeks ago
((((GW))) ) Hiya :)
GW: I always tune in late, so never solve the entire puzzle. But, always enjoy chatting and TRYING to solve the puzzle.
Can I have some help with the ah6, please? Can't wrap my brain around it tonight
Good evening Jojo, Ren, Smeltz, GW, Missy, everyone. Poor Ren, working her fingers to the bone! I am beseiged with one of my darling cats, who has been at the vet today for xrays and is so happy to be home. Poor Malka.
JoJo -- then you have right attitude! :D Some of my best nights have been races to complete a big grid while still carrying on multiple threads ---- I usually miss by one or two, but I have a lot of fun trying ;D
a + adjective for "he" + handtool for cutting wood, drop the "w"
Hi Mab :)
hi mab - glad your kitty's home - was today just tests?
Poor kitty. I think vet visits are more stressful for cats than dogs...
Just want to say how much fun I've had here today. You are all so friendly. This is a wonderful place to come and relax.
A goog evening to you as well, mab :) How old is Malka?
i heard we couldn't wear shoes here 9)
Angelsong I totally agree...this is a very friendly place and people are tons of help when we get stuck on a word
The clinic in Conn. where her thyroid will be zapped requires xrays to show that she doesn't have something more dire going on. She gets so frightened and hides under the fleece mat in her carrier. They also gave her a shot of cortizone for a rash that's been driving her crazy. She survived and the rash is already going away.
GW did you catch the clue I gave for ah 6/24?
Hi Mab
Did they give her something to relax her during the procedure? Our pets always know when we're taking them to the vet... *sigh*
mab - i'm sure malka is glad to be home and in mom s lap!!!
Well, Hi.
and we're back.
today has been busy. first, I found this site. Then, I played a bit. Then I bookmarked the site in three places to make sure it doesn't get lost. Then I went Pro.
Almost, Missy -- still bobbling it while chatting ;D Angel -- Glad to hear you are having fun -- I would be personally upset if I heard you weren't -- and I am a relatively new resident of Babbleonia myself :D
hey hey torg!!
Angelsong lol You sound exactly like me on my first day here.
angel - howdy!!!
Welcome back :)
Malka is an 11-year-old ginger tabby who was born in a dumpster in my home city of D.C. Who thought I would be spending outlandish amounts of money on her. But she is considered young, says my vet, so what else can I do but have her treated.
Angel -- Then Welcome to the Pack!!! Alway happy to meet a new friend :)
Is it cancer in her thyroid, Mab?
I didn't chat for a long time after I came onto babble, too ashamed of my #'s.
I think I'm maybe the only Texan who Babbles...
<refresh>...in case anyone needs a break... grab a sippie cup and join us in the 'cuzzi. GW's got the first round.
Jojo Bah...don't worry about that! People aren't sizing anyone up that way. I didn't complete my first puzzle until the 4th or 5th time...
i agree mab!!! as my dad sez - you can't take it w/ you!
Hi ren! Hi mab! Hope Malkushka gets better. Heya Angelsong! Don't ever worry about your #'s. Jump in and have fun.
angle - joey, babs1, and i are all in texas 8)
cool...nice to have neighbors, Ren!
Thanks, Smeltz (I think...) OK, everyone, get your rounds on me while you can, cos in Feb I be expecting payback ;) Tor -- How was Xmas?
OMG torg You're a Mistie fan! :D :D :D
hey - i've got 16 words now!!!!
*cheers Ren on...*
Oops. That was jojo. Anyway, most of us are here for the fun..
There you go ren, one tenth done already :)
Hyperthyroidism in cats is different from people, as it is caused by a benign tumor. The irradiated iodine tx is non-invasive and destroys only the tumor. Most cats have enough healthy thyroid tissue left so they don't need further medication or tx at all. Just one injection, which has no side effects, and then they hold her for three days, at which time she should no longer glow in the dark.
hey everyone- anyone need help before i go to bed?
mab -- I currently have one of my cats in my lap, and am giving her sympathy pettin's for Malka :)
Torg: I am here for fun too, but it is always a plus to rack up some points.
Mab, that's good news it will work out okay. "glows in the dark" -- *snicker*
Ren-just noticed that you have a new candle lit every day! How sweet! What a nice touch.
and i'm still at that tenth - i watching a movie - reading the log - and looking for words!!!
Not me, Torgone. I'm here to go on and on about my cat, the charming Malka (queen in hebrew).
I BeeBee. After much hair-pulling I can happily say I'm finished here so don't need any help in this corner
BTW -- for all you cat lovers -- there is a great web comic that you should check out -- www.twolumps.net -- the adventures of Ebenezer and Snooch
way to go missy
thanks harp!!
I've managed to find 80, which isn't great, but good for a first day.
When my friend Reggie's wife had her thyroid zapped, he was told to sleep in a separate room for two weeks!
Angelsong...yes it is...especially because this one has so many oddly spelled words in it
MissyMe, I am THE Mistie fan. Well, one of them . . I'm huge! GW - Christmas was quite nice! My beautiful kids got me a TV and DVD player for my room. Now I can actually watch some things I like sometimes. Like my MST3K collection!
Angel -- the willingness to play the game in the first place makes any score a great score!!! Never let anyone ever tell you otherwise!
torg.... you hvae the mst3k???? you are sooooo lucky!!!!!
do the puzzles change daily? and how long is the site usually down? I've made it one of my homepages...
Please carry on, mab. It's all good.
Torgone I'm a BIG fan here too, still...always... I'm still looking for a copy of the spoof they did on "The Collossal Man". I want...I need it... Question: Mike or Joel?
tor -- that's cool! Hopefully when they are old enough mine will treat me as good :) beebee -- hi, sorry to get ot you so late so many threads, so few fingers...
angel- the puzzles do change every nite- it's 1 am my time- and the site is usually not down
Angel -- the puzzle flips every day -- the Bab Anon stats are dependant upon brandyjack's work schedule -- either they are updated in the first half hour, otherwise 6-8 hours later
hey gw- how goes it? hope your holidays were good- i'm sure your daughter loved them
I'm a little wound up because I don't get out much. Its especially dramatic when the outing has something to do with one of the cats. Last year my second cat, Sophie, a glamorous black cat, was attacked by a bull mastiff. We were briefly homeless after that horrid event. She is as good as new now, but the beast had chomped her thigh.
AngelSong - The puzzle changes every day at 12:00 CST, and it's rarely down. Missy - I like both. They're different but great in their own ways. I have a friend though who's an orthodox Joelist.
beebee -- nice and quiet -- I convinced myself to give up stress for the weekend and had a lot of fun --- my daughter got a tent from Santa to use as a palyhouse for in or out doors which she LOVES
hey torg and ren ren- where is your barbie- i almost didn't see you
Mab I'm glad she's okay now. Is the dog that attacked her still around?
My holiday reminded me of an old Daffy Duck cartoon in which said D. Duck went around screaming, "I'm rich! I'm rich! I'm faaabulously wealthy." I gave my husband a computer of his own, and I got jewelry and some good books.
The little tent is a wonderful gift, GW. Expect her to essentially live in there for a good while.
very nice gw- i'm glad christmas is over- i wish it wouldn't come again. i got lucky though- no santa this year- once you turn 12, he stops coming-
The worst part of the holidays in a good way is that now people will be taking down their holiday lighting displays -- Whenever we go in the car right now, my daughter says 'Want to look for lights?' --- when the lights go away she will be upset
Torgone I have a copy of the first show Joel did...he sat in the theater minus the bots and made comments like, "oh...gee, that would probably hurt". It was exactly like the guy who sits next to you in the theater who makes the types of comments that make you want to throw your popcorn at him. The only bot he had around was Gypsy and she had a deep, booming male voice! :D
Don't you love it when you are so busy trying odd letter combos that the simple everyday word has to jump up and smack you in the face before you see it? :D
beebee - barbie's playing w/ the hot wheels tonight - she won't come out and play w/ us!!!
MissyMe - One of the things I liked about MST3K when I found it was that it was exactly what my friends and I used to do: Sitting around ripping on bad sci-fi movies!
how long do y'all think i can leave my tree up- without it looking like i'm just to stinking lazy to take it down?
Angelsong hehe :D My daughter had a car accident two days before Christmas but she only spent one day in the hospital for observation and was home for Christmas. She's 7 months pregnant! Baby and mommy are fine, thank god!
at least until 12th night, beebee
I don't know about anyone else out there, but I am sooo glad that Xmas is over. Am I a scrooge?
gw-lol- the word that took me longest to find was the last na4/4
beebee - Roughly a week after New Year's. Or so . .
'Gunther' the bull mastiff is fine, and I don't really blame him for behaving like a dog. His master let him off the lead at a moment when Sophie was nibbling on flowers. Sophie shredded Gunther's ugly mug, but he is such a powerful dog he didn't even notice. I should have made his master pay for Sophie's tx, but I couldn't do it. And he's wealthy too! I, at my advanced age, was in grad school.
Missy, wow...I'm glad everyone is okay. Scary!
Torgone I hear ya. lol I still do that. I've always enjoyed baaaaaad sci-fi. Can you say Plan Nine From Outer Space? BeeBee I leave the decorations up until the day after New Year's...just some wierd family tradition. :)
ren- when will barbie come back? i love to see them- you always do a great job finding the perfect one
Angelsong When my daughter showed me the pictures they had taken of the truck she was driving I was floored! It was completely totaled. It kept going through my mind how she survived it.
beebee - she said she wants to come to a new years party - so i guess if we have a party sat nite - she'll be here!!
JoJo -- I was discussing this with another Babbler a few nights ago -- we were in accord that the Xmas season has become too commercialised and thus detracts from the true meaning of the season --- why is it all about the gifts?
torg- i always leave it up til the wise men come- but, i was hoping y'all would say march or april- then when people said something about it- i could tell them, the smartest people in the world(babblers) agree that it is perfectly acceptable for my tree to still be up. oh well- can't blame a girl for trying
GW I don't like the "giving presents" part of it either but I've always stressed the "family" part with my kids so our holiday is without stress, (usually). We do exchange gifts but I do as little shopping as possible.
ren- good good good- i'll be looking for her- in her party wear
GW, thx for answering, you always do. I really don't think it is about commericialization of Xmas, that has been around for a # of years, ~~since the 60's. But, it is getting increasing difficult, at least for me, to buy gifts for my family. I save all year long for buying for Xmas. That's what I mean.
Missy, that is truly horrifying. Thank goodness your daughter is ok. Here Im rambling about my kitties -- I don't know how I would manage if a loved one were involved in that kind of accident.
BeeBee...just hang other things on it for the next holiday coming up...make everyone think you just put it up for that holiday. Put shamrocks on it for St. Patty's Day, decorated eggs for Easter and soforth.
I agree with you there, Missy -- I am the type of person that doesn't need to use a holiday as an excuse for giving someone a gift --- One of my favorite things to do is to throw my friends off balance by paying for all our movie tix just cause I can
missyme- i love ya- that's a great idea
Mab...no no, please don't think you're kitty is not important. Any time we have someone, anyone, we love in pain it's hard.
This is quite cynical, but the gift extravaganza every year is sponsored by our government, which relies on rabid consumerism.
GW- i agree, if someone means something to you- why have a certain day- celebrate them whenever
beebee-until the wise men come? you mean April 15? (hee hee hee hee!)
My Christmas tree was up WELL past New Year's last year, and sat in my back yard for MONTHS before I chopped it up . . . Christmas for me is about having my family (kids) around. I didn't have that for a while, but I eventually got them all back. The presents vary dependinding on financial conditions, but I try to make the best of having my kids around me.
mab- shame on you- our government only has our best interest at heart ;) lol
harpjane lol
harp :)
Actually, in the western Christian calendar, we have only just begun the Christmas season. We were in Advent until sundown on December 24. Christmas goes until Epiphany, (when the wise men come)!
torg- that's nice- you are a good man
Mab: I had to put my cat down that I had for 17 years, yes 17 years. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Unfortunutatelly, she lost her mind. She started peeing and pooping all over my house, and I had no alternative. I loved my cat, will never have another one, because she loved me too. But buried her in our yard. So she is still with me.
dependinding? What language is that?
Bee bee, leave your tree up until the fire marshall knocks on your door. I think that's sensible.
babble language of course! :D
torg- it's babble language- when you've been up to long staring at a grid
MST3K! Dang, I miss all the good topic in the log! You are talking, of course, about the ORIGINAL series, before Joel left? What a great way to get through the 80's!
Yeah beebee, maybe you can convince him to take it down for you! :D
Jojo Breaks my heart. Our pets are family and they give us so much joy...but their lives are so short. :(
mab- i have a fake tree- that live tree you got to water, the needles fall off, it has bugs in it, and my lovely dog pees on them- so, we have a fake
Jane I have most of the MST3K series, both Joel and Mike on tape. I still miss that show.
The first si 4/4 is eluding me. Clue?
MissyMe-I used to have it all but I seem to have trouble reclaiming them when I loan them out....
JoJo -- very sorry to hear that -- My former housemate had to put down her old man of a cat a couple of years ago, I witnessed the process, and missed him horribly as well (*Hug*)
Missyme: Yeh animals were very much a part of my life. It just hurt me sooo much to put my cat down after 17 years. She slept with me every nite. Won't get another. Can't stand the pain of losing another.
Oh, I'm sorry for your loss, JoJo. My dear old cat lived to a ripe old age and then became ill. It is best to have them put down when they are suffering, I think, rather than go to extremes to keep them going. It is about quality of life, not quantity.
everytime i see that cartoon with the dog talking to the cat and the people are bringing in their tree- the dog says to the cat- you're not the only one with a indoor bathroom now- i know it's the truth
Beebee I'm still trying to convince my husband to get a fake one but every year we get a real one. Man, they get more and more expensive every year! This year I made him buy one at the grocery store for 20 bucks instead of the usual slog through the snow and cut-your-own for around 50!
harp si + the weather man on the today show
GW: Thx. Still hurts a bit after 5 years. Not getting ANYMORE animals!!!
thank you! 29 to go.
Jane! Nooooo! Make copies for them and give those out as loners. :)
Whereas I went the opposite direction, JoJo and now have 3 cats :D
missyme- you are better than me- a live one is just to much upkeep
any clues for the 1st sa 6 ? it's making me crazy
Jojo...I have a not-so-loveable beagle who just hates everyone despite the fact we treat him like a loving member of our family but I dearly miss the dog we had before, a wonderful, friendly mutt named Shadow. *sigh*
GW: Too much pain to have to put them down. 17 years is a long long time.
first sa6 sa + first person singular + abbreviation for 60 seconds
I wasn't going to get a tree this year due to space constraints and cats, but my daughter started asking me for one so I got a 10$ fakie from CVS -- it came with a string of 20 lights and did the job just fine :) I also got some strings of lights to haing on the walls
onyx- think of the fish- sa****- change the l to a vowel and the o to the same vowel you changed the l too
I agree, JoJo. It was over a year before I was ready for another kitten. That was Malka. She seemed to really want another cat, so I brought home Sophie. They utterly loathe each other. Nevertheless, we all are stuck with each other.
thanx beebee and missy, i saw that and don't know why i did not put it in....
GW if kids cared whether the tree was real or not they'd go crazy every time we took them into any store during the holidays. :) The fakie is just fine
onyx YW :)
beebee- what does that word mean? I can't seem to find it.
By the way, we have a leap second this year! The last minute of the year, GMT, will be sixty-one seconds long. Don't waste it!
yoeli- there is no def.
what is a word without a def?
I'm making a to-do list for those extra seconds Jane
yoeli- both of the vowels are the same- the one with a dot
i got it. and got the points and all that stuff. But what is the meaning? Or am i foolish to search for meaning in everything?
harp - Yay! If I only had someone to kiss at New Year's, that would be the moment to savor an extra second.
yoeli- it doesn't give a definition for the word- i have no idea what it means
Obviously I don't do the tree thing, but I always feel sorry for the real trees. I know they are grown on farms to be cut down, but on an existential basis I just feel sad that a growing thing has to be killed. Geez, I'm such a killjoy.
Yoeli Its a Japanese noodle soup
GW: Don't sweat it about the fake tree. Your daughter probably loved it. Kids don't need a lot, just to be loved and remembered at Xmas. Sounds like you did just that. Proud of you.
missyme- aren't you on top of the game- good job :)
thanks!
Mab, I'm with you on that. I look at all the trees on the lots everywhere and think, "What a waste..."
I don't do the tree thing either. I do the wax thing and think of all the poor bees busy making my candles!
My daughter loved it, actually -- I put the blinker bulb in the string and she said that the tree was singing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' :D
I think we should all write haiku for the leap second. Then say them really fast.
Yoeli lol
ahhhhh GW that is darling!
harp- that'll be some really fast talking
GW: Told you so! Kids don't need much at Xmas, just love.
Torgone, I'm not a huge lover of science fiction (or fact), but I love a 60's low budget movie that I think was called something like 'Mars Needs Women,' in which martians come to earth to, well, get women. Do you know this film?
mab, I think you have to measure it against the greater good; A Christmas tree provides pleasure, a corn or soybean plant provides food, etc.
*clears throat* "Uh-hemmm...I have a hai..." *and then the clock strikes 12*
"Mars Needs Women"! A classic of the bad sci-fi genre! One of my favorites!
sounds like a sneeze, missy!
Plus, if you go and cut one in the woods, like we do, you have lots of fun!
"It's Alive" Yet another stinker
Hi Tbug! (*HUG*)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I wouldn't judge those who want the real trees really. It's just my personal feeling. I'm a tad hypersensitive.
tbug- your icon is beautiful
*identifies w/ hypersensitive* ... dont even get me started w/ animals!
Tbug Hi I was trying to get through my haiku I'll read on the extra seconds we'll have before midnight New Year's :)
thx beebee, its a wolf howling at the moon, cant see it tho :)
I knew what is was, Tbug ;)
lol grey you could see the three pixels !
Oooo, Yoeli, I hadn't given a single though to the poor bees! That's pretty good.
Tbug...its actually that big? I can make it out too.
Darn! Forgot about the puzzle. May I have a clue please for AN6?
harp- can i ask if you are catholic or protestant?
Mab do you have to use real beeswax candles or can you use the other type? I think they're petroleum-based.
drop the last letter off the an7
put a ch and at the end put a ukkah
if you wanna refresh you'll see a pic of my wolfie, Borealis
an + first person singular + first part of my screen name, drop one "s"
mab- plural your an5/12
A protestant who converted to catholicism of my own free will, as an adult. What a long, strange trip it's been.
Tbug -- he's gorgeous!! I am soooooo envious!
she's my girl, since 5 wks old, 2 and a half yrs now
I have no idea what kind of candles. Ah, beeswax, from Israel.
Well, I guess I can't avoid the C's much longer if I'm to finish. Might need some clues here....
sorry, she's gorgeous!
Wow Jane, that is a big change.
ty GW :)
not for evry1... huge time investment, worth every sec tho. we're a 'pack' :)
Tbug I'll have to log out and then back in to see it. For some reason there's a conflict using Opera browser with the site and refresh doesn't work for me
I think my Jesus Freak years are my favorite. Although, I must admit, being a church musician in the catholic church is like being a kid in a candy store...so many new things to play!
harp- i was just wondering- with Advent and Epiphany- i figured it had to be one of them- the best part of christmas as a catholic is midnite mass
Oh, dear, that must be one of the AN5s I don't have. Just a wee hint on that one?
Tbug -- I know -- I have done some research -- it's a big investment of time to reinforce the pack structure as well as having the land to allow a proper territory to explore
Lots of Protestants follow the same church calendar as catholic though. And the eastern orthodox christians follow a similar calendar. So it's not unfamiliar to me. I love any kind of calendar anyway. ergo the leap second infatuation!
Jane When you said Jesus Freak it reminded me of the "ruins" my husband and I found a few years ago that had been occupied by different groups, including hippies, Jesus Freaks, bikers and ultimately Satanists. All of the different groups drew pictures and wrote things on the concrete walls--what a piece of history it is!
argggghhhh - all i have are lime godstoppers!!!
Does the very last co 5/12 build on the same root as the six previous words?
Ren LMAO!!!
mab- an 5/12 dogs are an***** use the first 4 letters and the last letter is the 3 letter
harp == think rough but drop the a
yes... there's some great things being done to work with bringing wolves back. they're hugely important to many delicate environmental chains. now that's being found out after thousands and thousands were killed off.
GW I about threw myself off the nearest curb trying to get that one.
the 'big bad wolf' isnt so bad after all, tho i do sing to her the "who's afraid of the big bad wolf" song often ;) lol
And the worst part Tbug is that the gov't can't figure out that they can't use mere population figures as the gauge to remove them from the endangered list! Education has to be figured in as well
Thank you so much BeeBee. What a ridiculous word.
Tbug I applaud your efforts. How true they are much needed to keep the ecology balanced. When overpopulation sets in because there aren't enough predator/prey mix, the prey usually succumb to disease which is a much harder way to die.
true, gw!
thank you for the clue. I wish you could all come to Montana to hear them howl. It is unbelievable! We camped in Yellowstone last winter during the early part of the mating season. I swear some of those pups were right outside our tent. Actually, the closest tracks were around 300 feet away, but they can PROJECT when they howl!
mab- y/w- i think that about most of the words
right... actually nature has a very humane way of taking care of overpopulation problems - if we'd just let nature take its course!
Now I need a clue for the FIRST co 5/12. If you please!
i live on the east co@@@
One of the best dogs I ever had was a wolf/St. Bernard mix - born in the dead of winter in the mountains of CO. Winston. Beautiful dog.
Harpjane they do sound amazing! When I want howling, though, I talk on the speaker phone to get my beagle going. lol
Sounds like a lot of dog, torg.
help with the last 2 sa6/18's please?
lol harp - yes they are quite vocal! there have been tests of the frequencies and notes they 'speak' its possible they have as many variants as the human voice!
thank you beebee
awesome torgone!
first one: opposite of "crazies" they're sa**** second one: like a karate teacher but change the first vowel
Thanks Missy!
YW :)
Fabulous guard dog, great with with my little (at the time) kids, I could pull a raw steak out of his mouth, and he'd wait till I gave it back to him. Poor sod died from parvo.
oh that's a horrible disease for a doggie. The fits they have with parvo are just heartbreaking.
Torgone...this is so funny. When I'm reading what you post I'm reading it with Tom Servo's voice in my head!
my Bori is like that.. from a pup we made a game of taking food so she'd be ok with it. when her siblings or other wolves come around, it's a bit different. hehe, fun to watch the interaction, they sure have their own language!
All of a sudden I see that I am .... FINISHED!!!!!!
Harpjane Yay!
woohoo harp!
29 minutes to spare...what will you do with all this time on your hands?
the reason wildlife becomes endangered is due to man- we take away their habitat, but refuse to share ours. granted, wild animals are that wild and they aren't safe to roam neighborhoods and what not. but, what is the solution? put them in a refuge- they don't know boundries- it's very sad. but, i'm def. not an advoate of people having any wild animal as a pet, unless they are commited to it for life and understand its needs and lifestyle.
I was heartbroken when I had to put him down. I couldn't afford any kind of treatment. The sad part is, the crappy little mutt I think he got it from (next door neighbor's) lived just fine..
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Harp- WOO HOO
couldn't agree more beebee... wish more people felt that way!
Torgone...Yeah some dogs are carriers and never get any symptoms
um, I don't know, maybe recite haiku? Check my local paper online. Our lame duck city council (goes out of power January 3) is trying to do some odd things in their waning hours.
That is sad, Torgone. When one can't afford tx, it's extra heartbreaking.
beebee I'm sending you the bears, squirrels, deer, skunks, wood chucks, beavers, moles, and god knows what else, that pass through my yard every day. :)
I miss Tom Servo.
Torg- that is so sad- i had a rott. that died of parvo- had all its shots and when he got sick- they vet treated him (he stayed their) died 5 days later and the bill was over 1500.00- i didn't care about the $- i wanted my dog to live-it's truly heartbreaking
Jane He seemed to be the most talented of the group, and that's saying a great deal! He had a lovely voice too
Missy- i live in the country - we have plenty of wildlife our selves- you better keep yours- i'm going broke feeding what we have
missy- on 2nd thought i will take the skunks- i never see any
lol beebee We have laws around here that prevent us from feeding ours. They're supposed to survive on their own. But the winters are pretty mild at this elevation, 2k ft, so they do alright. And if I accidentally grow something I know they will like to munch on...well...
And I have finished!!! Sorry to be so quiet, but those n's were a pain :)
just talked to someone the other day that saved $3000 for hip replacement surgery for their dog. it worked wonders!
Yay GW! The "s" group gave me a headache
congrats gw!
You know what I haven't seen in years? Chipmunks! the trees are lousy with squirrels, but I haven't seen a chipmunk in the wild in over 15 years!
Morning all! This is crazy, getting up early to babble and then finding out I have 20 minutes to spare. Morning Woulf *big hug for you and congrats on finishing!*
Good morning to you Sprite :)
Hi sprite!! (*Big Hug Back*)
GW we have em here but both types are so territorial, probably the squirrels have pushed them to another area
Tom Servo is always here, in all of us. He is the erudite, sarcastic, jaded voice of insightful whimsey that is always there, mocking and jeering our hubris.
tbug- there was a man here who thought wolves would be cool to have- they were full blooded- he didn't take the time to establish that he was the dominant (alpha) male, or any kind of order, just kenneled them like hunting dogs, spent no time with them and when they became unruly- he shot and killed them- makes me sick- he should have been shot and killed- but that's just my opinion
Hear hear beebee!
he shoulda been kept in a cage.... then shot!
way to go GW
beebee what a waste of life! I stand in wonder at people who insist on having animals and yet don't take care of them.
I think for those people the key word is 'having'.
hey sprite
True sprite...all my animals have been friends not pets
I still miss Kemo The Wonder Hamster! She actually came to me when I called her by making a whistling sound. Smart little girl
lol thats cool missy!
I agree with you, sprite -- when it comes to exotic pets, too many people get off on the whole 'I have something you don't have' kick, but are too lazy to properly research the animal. Then they get surprised when the animal become uncontrollable...
i don't know why i'm shocked- look at how people treat their children and each other- why should i expect them to treat animals any better
Tbug We used to put her in one of those plastic balls so she could wander around the house but finally just let her wander at will and kept her cage open for her. She was a charm. :)
agreed, many get them young.. then they grow up and its a different story.
thats really neat missy
My friend used to work in the legal system as an aide -- She told me that the first child abuse case ever to be prosecuted in the US was brought by the ASPCA against people who were treating their child lilke an animal. This was because there were no laws on the books yet to protect children from such horrible treatment.
That's just it, Woulf. People don't think, they just want to 'have'. No idea what they are getting themselves into and who pays the price? The animal. Like it is a thing that can be thrown away, in stead of a precious living being that has been trusted into your care.
Tbug: just like kids ;)
So when noone would take the case -- The ASPCA said that if the child was being treated like an animal, then they would prosecute on basis of inhumane treatment of an animal---- They won!
GW I had a stepfather who was, well, he was nasty. One of his "things" he liked doing was keeping extremely exotic pets. We had an ocelot, (spelling, sorry), who went crazy and had to be put down. We had many other exotic pets we gave up because after all, they were wild animals. His friend he got these animals from kept a leopard, and a black leopard..both of them in the types of cages you only transport animals in. Naturally, they were both stir crazy! I will never forget seeing those poor animals and am thoroughly against anyone keeping exotics without knowledge and special liscenses to raise them
Yum! Pumpkin pie with Cool Whip!! Who wants some?
Wow GW that's amazing...and sad, too, that it had to be done that way. :(
2 years ago- i finally found someone who bred kinkajou's- i was so excited- i got the dimensions for the right size enclosure- my husband was going to build in ( they live in the yard)- then i called my vet- who said he doesn't treat them- none of the vets in town do or will. so, that was the end of that. you wouldn't believe the number of people who couldn't understand why i didn't get it anyway.
*raises her hand*
Here you go, Missy :) How much Cool Whip do you want, a lot or a little?
4 mins y'all- i hope it'll be a good one
I had to look up kinkajou on the internet just now because I didn't know what it was. OMG what a darling face! But I think the vets in your town were wise not to treat them and you double-wise not to get it.
GW a dab, please *hands him a shovel* here, use this
missy- they are adorable and they make a great pet- if properly cared for, but no medical attention isn't properly cared for
ROFL, Missy (*passes over tub og topping*) I'll let you help yourself :D
But who is counting *stares innocently at ceiling and whistles*
GW hehe *globs on the cool whip* thankee sai
there are few good stories out there, sadly just enough to encourage people to get animals they have no business having.
YW
