And so we start again :)
New day, new puzzle...
Morning all :)
Good morning!
looks friendly : D
Do you know if you copy the word list to an e-mail and click on the ? you are sent to Dictionary.com and the meaning of the word?
Hi Debs! (*Hug*)
Hiya Woulf ((hugs))
Hootowl, you don't have to copy it to a word doc first. You can just click on the ? in your list right here.
Hello again, everyone. Saw a 6 letter word on first glance, so maybe it won't be too bad!
ahhh yes......
242 words tonight - that's a weekender!
ok 242 words.... not so friendly..... : /
Babbler - how do you know that? I get the barber pole in the stats box
I did once and couldn't get rid of it! Rather do it on my free time than here. This time all the vowels are on the bottom!
refresh the page, Mamabear : )
Oh, an just for the record, I am now eating pb on vanilla wafers - someone ate all the Ritz crackers *mamabear sneers at family*
Just refresh, mamabear and it'll clear the panel. Looks like some dark tears of Babylon tonight, babbler...
and speaking of dieting - those six letter words sure hit home! LOL!
Lupe - did you see my post??? It's all your fault!!! LOL
I'm gonna have to play the tune now, Griff! ;)
let's go surfin' now .... everybody's learnin' how... come on and safari with MEEEEEEEEEEE....
LOL MAMA!! Sorry!!! Now I wish I had vanilla wafers!! That is too funny!
Hi everyone! *hugs to GW*

Hi Hugabugs!

nilla wafers - haven't had those in forever
yellow, any of you oldies remember this show?
By the rivers of babylon, there we sat down Ye-eah we wept, when we remembered zion....
doo-dah, doo-dah oh maybe that's not the right song Did you see there are 38 stinkin words that start with C? Yikes!
When the wicked Carried us away in captivity Required from us a song Now how shall we sing the lord’s song in a strange land...
I haven't entered a word yet....... not sure I wanna... : /
saphyre - they are really good with peanut butter on em! Would never have tried them except for not having any more Ritz crackers!!!
I've only entered 7. I'd rather sing too. Or cry
Babbler - you wanna, you wanna, you KNOW you wanna!
I'm gonna play on paper to begin with Mamabear... this might be a beast! :/
(you're right...... I know I wanna!) :)
c 7/40
c 7/40
Mamab, like minds , I presume?
c 7/40 - Plural of what you use to color with
looks like, chic!!!!!! *wink*
c8/60
Don't know about the weekender part --- got 96 on the first run through, so I don't think it's that difficult-- though I have lived to eat my words before!
ooops forgot the plural - c9/78
I'm still stuck on 7. I have been explaining this game to a new friend here (everyone wave hi) and realizing that the way I describe doesn't make it sound like much fun. :)))
c 7/36 c 8/50

morning harpjane...
Nice size too, Griffs! :D Looks like a treat.
Yeah, at work I was typing in financial info and realized I had typed "Savings Bong" about six times. Oops. Sorry Mr. Federal Regulator, my mind just wasn't on my work.
hi harpjane....

thx leslieann...I love those old wagons...
griff.... share, share, share!!
can you put us out of our misery griff???? any clue??
Not a clue what those Ca8-9 can be, but I can offer a nice house plant D8. Hope it doesn't spit fire ;)
Can't think of a good lateral-think clue so will just blatantly post the def instead: A supporting column sculptured in the form of a draped female figure
I'd actually tried that word about a dozen times but with O in the middle instead of A. Not that I knew what it meant either time.
I tried for that and mispelled it originally!! *smack*
Wow, thx griff...I wasn't even close...
WTG Griffs!
far out brussell sprout!!! what a word!
thanks Griffs!!!!
(a little more air guitar)
Strange word, but not totally unfamiliar. I LOVE this grid. K isn't used :D :D :D
i was stlll thinking about the air guitar...i'm slow, i know..did joan jett really sing those words????
I beg to differ. It doesn't start any words, but it is used....
If she did she owes me some royalties! ;)
Well, that's what I meant, Brandyjack. I just don't like K-words.
lol grif.....8)
anybody have exciting plans for the weekend?
mama... got rid of the husband, the kids and bought myself a great big bottle of wine!! Watching the tennis and sipping semillon chardonnay! Heaven!!
Just going to relax this weekend mama, what about you?
Hi mama, my weekend is the usual, ski, clean house, play music, ski, read.
sleep....that's about as exciting as it's gonna get around here....
We just got back from seeing a play The Wiz.
Will you please tell me the theme for the day? Thanks!
well mama, we have bingo at church tomorrow night, could it get more exciting than that????
Going to finish this puzzle .... watch the snow.... and make homemade chicken soup...
MrP, beware, we will all crash your party, lol! I am planning on a very quiet weekend, actually.
dalmatian, theme is safari...
Gonna sleep, prep the apartment for the new arrival, and play with Kristianna :)
aah, LOVE it when i typo a real word!
mrp - sounds wonderful.....
Sounds great, Woulf ;)
GW - you are not working tomorrow??? don't you usually work on Saturday?
*pours a big glass of wine for mama & sprite*
Yippee, mrP! Guys, why not 'poena'? Isn't that used in 'sub poena'?
I have my rare weekend off from work this weekend, Mama So I am glad I got my bug last night -- it gave me a 3 day weekend and didn't interfere with apt rearranging :)
thanks mrp - that along with my sleepy pill should about knock out this coughing for the nite!
Thanks Norad. I am all excited because I just learned how to change icons. Before I had to stick with just one boring one.
I am glad for you, GW - enjoy the time off!
hey spot!!
That sounds better than good... better than better, Woulf ;) Enjoy!
poor mama ((hugs)) you be passing out with the glass of wine I have poured!! Half the bottle!!
I intend to, Mama!
it took me awhile to do that too dalmatian, my 16 year old son had to show me... :)
that's the idea, mrp!!!! good job dalmation!!!
GW, when is your son due?
Feb 3
not long now...what fun you have to look forward to...
On the birthday of my daughter and Hugs' son :)
I need to go to bed I need to go to bed, I said I need to go to bed to rest my sleepy head I need to go to bed The End
(quiet air guitar)
*applauds Mama!* Does that mean you are going to and we are to say goodbye, or was it just reminding yourself and us that you should (but won't)?
LOL sprite!!! I know I sometimes cry GW about going and never go, but this time I think I am... g'nite everyone... *hugs* and a special *hug & kiss on cheek* for GW - thanks for all your great help tonite - I hope your tummy lets you sleep well.......

'Night mamabear!

Night gw!
nite GW...
well not really "mama may I" - it was "mother may I" - nobody else ever played that?
saphyre, I like your icon! Dalmatian, it's a big vague, but sweet :)
thanks sprite
duh.....FINALLY found sprite's dangerous houseplant
LOL! Lousy clue, right?
No, it was a great clue, I just was slow on the synapse
oh gosh please tell me that's not in the grid
ROFLOL! Stay cool, it isn't. And thanks for putting it in my mind ;)
(sorry - saw the SYN and suddenly panicked...) :) (calming air guitar)
Funny, now that I have stated it isn't there, I keep seeing it.
Ow! A very nice 2nd Ca7-8 combo that is very witchy :)
not too much toil and trouble on that one
Nope, but very sweet to find :D
found the ta 7/8 combo but don't know what it means
alright, I'm done in...103 down, 139 to go...night all
nite norad...
Griffs: it's a particle that travels slower than light. This includes all known particles (except luxons). Night Norad!
Seriously?
Headline: Typing Monkey Discovers Particle Physics
Yep :) A word from the quantum mechanics, I believe.
nite norad...
You must have been the 100th typing monkey, Griffs! Congrats :)
Woo hoo! Do I get a shopping spree at Banana Republic?
That, plus a good rubdown with coconut oil from a Tarzan.
oh I am SO there
You deserve it. D*rn, down to 9 and nowhere to go. I think it is coffee time. STRONG coffee time.
God. I just do NOT know how you can do that!
ta7/40 ta8/55
Drink strong coffee? I don't say I like it, I say I need it ;) That's how it goes with some grids: up till a point it is a breeze, and then I hit a solid concrete rock wall. End of line. Trying things like 'yotun' and 'drotuf'.
Yes, except I hit my solid wall about 10 words in. You're amazing! :)
ahem griff.... who found the 8 and 9 for us all!!?? You DID!!! Brainiac!!
Sometimes I do too, remember? There was one grid last week, that took me half the day and I didn't have one single 'on the roll' in the whole thing.
Oh, sprite. You make me laugh out loud. "Remember the day I was momentarily stopped on a puzzle?" oh ho ho ho ho ho...I'm giggling. :))) You're so cute.
I agree with mrP. Anyone who can find THOSE biggies is a babble miracle. :)
This is true!
(strutting air guitar) for grif
yow....bring it on baby!
Refresh!
Woo HOOOOOOOOOOO! Safari Sprite!
Lol, this one looks fun :D
*funny
I just found a c8/50 ... or is that old news? I just started about 15 mins ago.
It's not old news to you! good job
Hi Corps! had fun getting that one!
WTG corps! I believe all biggies have been accounted for, but it's a nice find :)
Woohoo!
Stats panel claims there are 2 more Rs. No way!
ok... this re6/24 and ro7/36 are not looking for me!! A clue a clue a clue please!
Ro 7/36, in Washington DC, the Capitol Ro*****
sprite, it's way better than what MY stats panel says
I have no idea about Washington! Sorry!
mrP, don't ever do this to me again! Here I go, looking happily and very grateful for that Re6/24, sure that will be one of my missing Rs...
Oh, duh. RO - word for portly, then add an A
Oh, my stats panel isn't through talking after the boast about the Rs. It blatantly states that I should find more Ts, Cs and Ns as well :(
MRP did you get it? The ro 7 is a word for a circular foyer in a public building
mrP, try this: word for vermin, change 2nd vowel = 6, add another vowel at the end for the 7.
griff... I am blind and dumb!!
erk sprite, I think there has to be some consonant juggling also with your clue?
Errr... AND switch 2nd and last consonent, of course.
Of course.
Lol... yes Griffs, there certainly has to be.
ah.... got them! Thank you both!!
Okay... checking my list helps. Why don't I ever learn to put in plurals for every singular and the other way around?
I dunno, why?
Plain incurable stupidity, I fear. Got the Rs now. No sign of the rest.
I've heard of PIS but never known a victim...
(actually they're everywhere - it's an epidemic)
We could have a benefit for you. We could call it Sprite Aid.
Guess I am starting to feel really at home here and coming out of the closet. I am Sprite. I suffer from PIS. There. I said it.
Good. I feel pretty pissy sometimes myself.
That's what I told my boss recently. "No stupid, I am not upset. I am just PISSED!" I have sick leave now.
I am in awe of your skills in benefits negotiation!
So is he, LOL.
(We teach people that in my careers job. We've never used that method.)
It's not surprising, though. All babblers have a way with words :)
HAAAAAAAAAA!
Sprite - are you working from the Y to A's or A to Y's?
Dianne, I go random through the whole grid until I run dry. Then I revert to the stats panel and work my way down tile by tile. I found the missing Ts, am now looking for Cs and Ns that are supposed to be there (but aren't, not in my grid anyway).
sprite... if you can't find them... we are doomed!!
:P I just found a T4, that is part of a T5 and the T5 has to do with divining the future with certain cards. I already had that T5. So forget doomed, I am just being stupid.
To which you could say dr 4/5! and double dr 4/5!
Yeah, indeed. Da4/5. Just don't say I am a Tu4/6.
haaaaaaaaay, what's up with the potty talk??? :)
LOL!
I just want to state for the record that I have been looking for the last 10 words for about an hour now! Down to one N and it is just NOT there.
I've been looking for ANY ten words for about an hour now...
See? GMTA :)
:))
I'm stuck on typing LACUNA now...
O sjeez, found it. Ne4. Was just to CLOSE under my nose to see. Done... if I may say so without getting banned. 242 words/ 4.77 average / 3178 points.
Nice one, sprite. You're just so darned good. *basks in sprite's reflective glow*
I think I tried 'naoy' about 20 times. Stupid enable dictionary, won't take MY alt. spellings ever, though it has the most insane ones itself.
*blushes and takes bow* Alright then, I AM good :D
Enable's compounds are the weirdest, like TOPKICK and NUTBOY...
Sprite - you are better than good :)
I love TITMAN though :) And that funny TOEPLATE lately.
And where did all the fish go for the winter?
.... some of those p's should be shot at!@!
Yeah, that's right. We haven't been closer to fish than 'eely' lately, I believe. Watery defecters, all of them.
ANFSCD: my washing machine just crashed. What I am going to do with that bathroom full of dirty laundry??? No repairman before Monday at the earliest, of course...
How about you do... nothing?
(I know, I've astounded you with my brilliant skills of deduction)
I am completely baffled... er... babbled :D Good idea. I am pumping the water out of the machine now. Argh!
LOL mrP! *PIEUW*
Be sure to tell your boss how bummed you were that you couldn't do laundry all weekend. Maybe he'll sign you up for a service.
He has no skills that are buying him access to my washing machine!
:)
sprite... I am thinking wrong thoughts there.... what type of 'skills' would he need to buy access?
again with the potty mouth...
LOL!!!! You are BAD! Let's just say this: the machine is already malfunctioning. Someone who cannot handle people, shouldn't get near a machine that I need to hang on to the last fragments of my sanity.
You need a washer to maintain your sanity. As Leslie Ann says... you just blew my mind
I have a husband that works and goes canooing and fixes things in the house (no washing machines though), I have two kids that go to school, to scouting, to skating, to aikido and that play outside. I like to change my clothes every now and then too. So without washing machine, I have to do laundry by hand or have my family go naked in about 3 days.
You guys don't have like laundromats there? (Can you put up a webcam on Monday?) just askin
*goes silently berserk just thinking about that!*
Don't think about it! That won't help ANYTHING. Neighbor? Friend? Family? Take your laundry to the appliance store and give the washers a test run?
Somebody take pity on me and clue the tu6 that I can't see...
Griff - I thought this would be one of the first words you got - frozen ground.
Tu6: A treeless area between the icecap and the tree line of Arctic regions, having a permanently frozen subsoil and supporting low-growing vegetation such as lichens, mosses, and stunted shrubs. I like that neighbors idea. *puts on distressed face and rings neighbors doorbell with armfull of wet clothes*
I've typed that 42 times already!!!
Griff - it must have kept going into sprite's washing machine.
That is SO weird. When I go fast, though, it doesn't seem to catch the words, or maybe I don't hit the return key hard enough or something.
THAT's the answer!
yeah, yeah griff... keep telling yourself that! LOL ;)
ARRRRGGGHHHHH!!! Griffs! If I find out you are to blame... call back that piece of frozen underground NOW!
Griff - your 42 are with all the missing socks that somehow disappear in the washer.
la la LA LA LA LAAAAAAAAAAAAA I CANT HEAR YOU
(very loud air guitar)
*chases Griffs, slowly getting positively livid*
TURN IT UP!!
Oh, my points say NaN too and I have two words that have no points next to them. So I do need a refresh maybe.
Turn it up turn it up This little number is one I call Sprite's Slow Burn...
*takes Griffs guitar and throws it in neighbours' washing machine*
oh.... Poor Sprite!!
The best thing about air guitars is... YOU ALWAYS HAVE ANOTHER ONE
and she spells neighbours CORRECTLY!!!
and with proper punctuation!
always impressive.
ROFLOL! I split, before I get ridiculed beyond repair. Have a great day, dear gang, and good hunting to you! :)
Bye-bye sprite. Hope you have a good weekend despite the hassles. *hugs*
Bye Sprite... have fun... with your washing machine!!
I love you guys. :D Bye!
My slovenly but effective trick when the washer is dead is to put the clothes in the dryer with a big soaking wet towel. I can sort of pretend they were washed by osmosis...
Bye sprite - have a good weekend.
Lol Griff!! way to cheat!
Hey. If you get so close that you would care, you're after something else and you DONT care...
then I must be after something else with the li's because they are sh7/55 me to tears!!
and I cannot get that last un 6 either
I have that!
grrrrrrrrr
un + to4/4 last one
SHEESH. I am blind!
just think of me as your 'guide dog'
heeeeeeeee
ok... I can't see the la6/21 second one please (clues?)
It's the girl's name 5/12 plus E
MRP - add a vowel to the la5/12.
thank you thank you thank you It would have helped if I had the la5 to start with... all is well now in the la la la camp!@!
yaaaaaay I'm done for the night, will have to finish my assorted 4's and 5's tomorrow... Thanks for the fun chat, ladies!
bye griff... have a good nite! fun chatting!
Bye Griff.
I should go too tennis is getting hotter and hotter (mmmm... tight shorts, sweaty armpits, readjusting of the shorts....)
before you ask.... I am talking about the players!!
Strong coffee required...Saturday morning and a new beast of a grid. Anyone else wish for a wee one? We'll be here all day (at least i will). Maybe i'll just watch instead.
It's pretty quiet right now. Everyone got a good start on the words and then faded away.
Hi all. No cofee for me - it's 7 pm and that would keep me up all night :)
Gee, it's 3 a.m. here and Sat. morning is on the way!
Dal - are you on the west coast?
Sure am, right down the street from Disneyland.
Disneylasd opened here several months ago - haven't been yet but will in the spring.
Does it seem to be doing well? Does your weather allow it to be open all year? I am a young oldster and it is one of my favorite places to go. It is so clean and everyone is so polite and it truly is magical. But, the crowds can ruin it.
It is doing very well. There were a few kinks that had to be worked out in the beginning but from what I read and hear it is great. Our weather is good for an all year round park. The only thing is that we get a good bit of wet weather during the (no pun intended) rainy season.
I love all the characters that walk around the park. There are wonderful photo opportunities. Of course, it is not cheap - but what is these days?
Dianne Is Ocean Park still open? WhenI worked for Panam I used to take my son to HK every year and that was one of his favourite places. Haven’t been back since 1997 though.
Ocean Park is still open and doing better than ever - they have had a major revamp and new guy at the helm. That's on my list for this spring as well :) You wouldn't believe the changes here since '97.
Dianne I can imagine. HK was one of my favourites although we used to go every August at the time when it was most humid. You had to stop on every street corner and wring yourself out!
ruthy how u doing?
Well the humidity is one thing that hasn't changed - walking down the street in Augusst requires sevreal stops in shop doorways just to cool off a bit before moving on to the next doorway.
Dianne There's a lot to be said for air conditioning. However, it makes it a lot worse when you leave it. How's the shopping there now? It used to be wonderful. I always needed two weeks just for the shops.
Not as good as it use to be. Stanley Market and the Ladies Market are still o.k. For real bargains we go across the border, into southern China. That's good shopping.
Dianne At least you now have that option. When I was going the best we got was going to the border and looking over. We always stayed Kowloon side and went back and forth on the star ferry. Bargain ride and cool. There used to be a wonderful Chinese emporium on the island where I bought silk.
Di... I used to come every year and stay at the Grand Hyatt... the JJ Bar was the best place on earth!!
Teh Star Ferry is still the best USD 25 cent ride in the world. I never tire of taking it. I also remember taking the ride to the border and looking across at the barbed wire fencing. Things are so different now. In the early days I never would thought I'de be day trippping it to China.
MRP - I think JJ's is closed. The old crowd that used to hang there is spread all over the world now. The Hyatt Regency in Kowloon closed down two weeks ago and the Mandarin is closed for 8 months for a major face lift.
Oh... .we would come from all over the globe, meet there... and party like jungle cats all night!! 2 hours sleep a day and that was on a good day!!
Dianne You now have the best of both worlds and that is where I have to stop dreaming about days gone by and come back to the real world. Weekend shopping beckons. Great talking with you. Love to my old friend HK
Gotta go now and get things ready for dinner. Have a good evening. I'll hopefully finish up this grid in the morning.
bye all! have a great day!
Just a quick hello to everyone because I am going to a mediation retreat this morning and have to get going. Looks like a hard one-got 147 without too much struggle (thanks for the wonderful house plant Sprite!), but the rest is looking ominous. its going to be hairy slithering down the driveway which has become some sort of amusement park polar express ride, so I have to leave time for sliding into the ditch and getting out. Have a great day babbling. By the way, if you're still there GW, thanks for my first babble hug last night.
the 1st ca6/24 is eluding me.... anyone have it? PLZ!
That's meditation, not mediation. Probably should be medication.
The first 6/24 is the plural of the 5/14 above it.
mrp-only have one so far and probably not the one you need-the plural of the neutered fowl.
ok... then I need the 2nd ca6/24...
So do I and the 5/16 after it also!
ca6/24 - to hold someone hostage.
ca 6/24 someone who is a prisonser
GGRRRRRR.... blind I say... BLIND!!
thank you!!
oh, just pretend I can spell :/
Thanks!
I have 2 words left.... I am tired and need to be forgiven for the clue!! the first ca7/36 and ca8/50 please!!
ca7 & 8 combo .... hat + spoken exam (and plural)
trish... I have that one
Mrpresident.....I have the first ca7/36 & 8/50 if you would care to exchange them for the second pair....
large pot for brewing potions (or stew, but potions is more interesting!)
mrp - earlier clues were they are witchy words - double, bubble, toil or trouble
ca7 = ca a type of hat ca* + spoken word exam or** then add s for the ca8
Sorry Movieman, didn't mean to trample on your exchange
You're forgiven, trish....

wtg mrp :)
AND.... if anyone needs a clue for the ca8 and ca9... I can help!
Yes please, oh powerful one.....
go to reverse dictionary for this one here is the definition A supporting column sculptured in the form of a draped female figure
Many thanx, mrp.... Guess I'll have to toss another shrimp on the barbie.....
for anyone who has trouble finding the definition ... ca8/9 ... vehicle + sometimes vowel + second di4/5 backwards (then plural for 9)
I use onelook.com http://www.onel ook.com/reverse-dictionary.sht ml it is very useful!! thanks for the cool clue too trish!
Also found it by typing definition into Google
*stows link for later use* ... thanks mrp :)
trish... no problem!! (throw another shrimp on my barbie)...
Is that how we repay you your kindnesses around here, mrp? In seafood and charcoal?
nah... I like a scratch behind the ear and a rub at the base of my tail!!
So, mrp, how's about a definition for the cr7/40 so I can test that site you recommended.... Many thanx in advance....
cr7/40 A stick of colored wax, charcoal, or chalk, used for drawing
Bloody hell, it does work!!!!!!
*scritches mrp's ears* Not sure I should be doing anything at the base of your tail without a formal introduction ;)
lol Trish!!... *grin*
movie... I have the 'tools' all set up in my babble group!! It is the best way to get through these 'nasty' grids!!
Need a clue for the la7/32 now......these long words always drive me crazy!!!!!!
mrp - will you share a clue for pu 6/27 please?
Used as a title of respect for a learned man in India pu4/6 (2nd one) with a 'di' inserted before the last consonant
Thanks! Glad you gave the extra info!
la7 is a plural of the la6 la6 another word for 'boy la* + a popular name in scotland R**nie
Please -- help on da 6/24
a plant, also called thorn apple rhymes with future (replace the last vowel with an a)
I am off to bed I am driving 300km tomorrow morning to pick up the kids (I miss them so much!)... they have been with my in-laws for a week and am bringing them home for Australia Day! Will try and get on the grid tomorrow up the coast! Bye all!
Thanks for all your help and have a safe journey!
G'night mrp... safe travelling & Happy Australia Day (whatever that denotes)
See ya mr prez, and thanx 4 all your help!!!!!
mrp, what I've done is to collect all of the babble resources I could find and put them into a personal web page stored on my hard drive. then I only need to open one tab in my browser to have everything handy.
Australia Day **beer, wine, friends and barbeque** babble icon theme on the 26th is Australia Day... get those icons ready! Thanks!
Heh, sounds like a good reason to hold a National 'Day' day to me :)
angel... do you have bab anon, a2zwordfinder, oneloo.com and dictionary.reference.com...?
trish... what else is there!! LOL
oneloo.com is actually onelook.com...sorry!!
I do, mrp. got them from the tools links on BA
angel... you are set to get on fire!!!
the page is easy to edit with a text editor, so any time I find new resources, I just enter them! I love using the page...so much easier than searching all over.
at the top of my page, I have links to the babble grid page, the stats page, and to BA.
ta7 and ta8 - subatomic particle that travels slower than light (and plural) first contributed clue - gives self pat on back - esp.as discovered without help....
hello im new!
hello im new
countdowner, I used one.look to find the ta7 and found a similar word but the spelling is not the same, is there an alternate spelling
babble is a time consuming game but it is very enjoyable as well!
nevermind, found the ta7, spelled differently than on one.look
atomicpuppy -- Welcome! You'll find some people get through the grids in no time at all, while others of us struggle for hours. But, the main thing is to enjoy it!
peri, do you have a clue for the different spellling?
...could be that the one I got has one extra letter for both singular and plural (short form for yes...) means the same though, but missing letter means that the other form (the one you might have found) wouldn't fit the grid.....
That's so funny! Very logical name for an ion, LOL!!
Angelson -ta7 and 8 + ta5/16 and not off
thanks, peri...and welcome to countdowner and atomicpuppy
Oh, sorry greetings all... I was busy laughing about that late ion... I think i have a new nickname for my daughter...
lol, jera
What is today's icon theme supposed to be... I'm just my Winter Fairy self for now...
there isn't much better than a good size babble grid on a Saturday when I have time to work on it.
Some lovely witchy words today, as well!
pk, can't sleep... today is safari theme
thanks, mrp...
I have clues.... use me, abuse me... I am available for all clues!! ((I will eventually fall asleep!))
mrp, perhaps if we DON'T ask for clues, you'll be able to sleep?
(even my dog is hassling me to go to sleep!) gwen... you are clever!! I sit here... do nothing... fall asleep!!
I'd love to use & abuse you mrp, but I'm at my halfway break & the littlies are beginning to stir...
Dogs are very wise.
I'll be back for more later... have fun everybody!
ok... leaving...NOW!
Goodnight mrp! Bye Jera.
I just found a new (to me) dictionary reference site: merriam-webster.com/opendictio nary/ and it lets users add words also.
hmmm - is it good to allow user to add words? Who knows what will end up in there?
Greetings all, If anyone has the un7/40 and un6/24 I would really appreciate a clue before I break my keyboard with monkey typing!
un 7/40 think of opening curtains
un7: to remove a curtain or unveil something. Or, un + dr5/14
un 6/24: not ripped
Lovely clues, nailed the 7, many thanks. Re the 6 I already have a 6/21 that has the same meaning as your clue gwenski.
hi FMitch, and hi all :)
Afternoon Sherb, how goes it?
Sorry. un6/24: not closed
Hi everone! Hey, Sherb, any news on the whale in the Thames?
thanks gwenski - just couldn't see that one for looking.
goo thanks - chores done, sun's shining and I have the afternoon to myself... you OK?
Actually, un6/24 would mean closed, not 'not closed'.
babbled 1st thing then did battle with the hoover and won, back to add a few more words and then am out for a while.
hi Deutsch :) ...the news this morning was that it had swum back upstream, and was looking more and more distressed... the authorities are hoping it might beach itself so they can check it out, and maybe move it back to sea... doesn't look good...
thanks for the update, Sherb. Very sad for the whale. I hope some good can come from this ordeal.
Apparently the whale's been captured by a rescue team and is being examined by vets. There's an article and video about it at the BBC site, see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/eng land/london/4633878.stm
thanks, Kukana. I'll check out that site.
Latest news from www.bbc.co.uk: The 16-18ft (5m) northern bottle-nosed whale, first spotted on Friday, is now in shallow waters near Battersea Bridge where vets are examining its health. Teams, including four biologists, have manoeuvred it into a sling, to keep the whale's blowhole above water, and to keep it calm. Depending on its condition it could be moved onto a barge or taken to shore.
thanks, Sherb, for the update. US news isn't much help here.
ad6?
never mind...got the ad6
rats. still need the ad6. the word I thought it was, wasn't.
Hi Angelsong -- ad 6 is ad + not a verb, but a ****"

Hi lola -- it's nice to be back. Just haven't had much free time lately, but I've missed you guys ! Hope all is well with everyone.
Howdy sherb! ...thanks! You too : )
Like Cathy, I'm glad to be back. And I'm doing just fine, thanks.
Yeah, the jacuzzi's been a bit quiet lately..... : /
ty, cathy
I'm so out of touch. Are we still doing themes? If so, what's today?
cathy, it's safari day today! : )
indeed!
safaris, Cathy... I wouldn't be a hippo for any other reason... :D
Wow, always wanted to go on a safari ... just never thought of Babbleland as my destination :) thnx
Hi Une! Any excuse for Robert I see ; )
Hi Une, Are you a friendly hunter?
hi Unie :)
I wanted to put a picture of one ofthe most dangerous animals in the african bush up....but I couldn't find any nice ones of a game ranger! ; )
ok, traded in my small cat for a big cat :)
hunting is totally verboten--just an excuse to look at Robert all day . . . (from Out of Africa) :-)
Cathy, still looks a little like scotch!
Of course, Une. I love your icon!
I think you have to refresh your screen, don't you?
Oh cathy, he's a beauty! : )
Cathy, looks like Scotch in the coloring only! LOL
Just a big cat lover. But, Une, your is quite the looker, too. Wouldn't mind seeing that on my safari :)
cathy, there are plenty of them, believe me. And they are attracted by dollars too ; )
Howdy everyone!! After the crappy day I had yesterday, not even a huge grid can scare me!!! :)
Hi jen! Everything okay?? : )
Hi Jen!
Hi Jen ! Hope your day's better today.
I was into the 2nd day of stomach flu, hubby is out of town, and someone smashed my car window last night and stole by brand new $1000 GPS system. Police didn't show up till 11:45.
Good Morning, Jen! Feeling better today - hope so! Me
Hey band/Mom, look at my last post!
Aaargh! A pox on them, jen (the thieves and the police!).
Wow, that is a lousy day! **group hug for Jen**
hi Jen :) ...ouch...
Jen, that's horrible. Time for group hug (((Jen)))
Group hug! ((((((((((((((((( )))))))))))))))))))))))))
(((Jen)))
Thanks guys!! You are the greatest!
Could I please have some help with the dr8 and the yu5 and yu6?? : )
LOL! Just monkeyed the yu's! : D
lola, it's a shrub of the holly family and it's plural.... don't have d's. Gotta go get my window fixed. Talk to you guys later. And thanks for the hugs!!!
just as well, lola... I was struggling to think of a clue...
'bye jen, see you later : )
Later days, Jen! Good luck!
later Jen :)
lola - dr8 shows two def -- from Latin for female dragon, or form of tropical plants.
Thanks, Cathy. I don't know how you found it, but good job!
Thanks cathy. I'm pretty sure I've got the first half right, but the next four letters are still eluding me. Will carry on monkey typing : /
Deutsch -- after much monkey typing, I admit I resorted to looking it up. Certainly not a word I was familiar with :)
Woo! Just got it. I'm all done : )
lola -- you mean you finished already? Wow, congrats. I've still got 80 to go.
Thanks cathy, I've been at it for a while though. I'm going to grab a snack and will come back to see if anyone needs any help : )
well done lola :) ...see you later...
Another big one today i see..... Don`t think i`ve got time to start. Hi everyone :)
ar6/24?
hi lotti :) ...I could have done without some of the big ones during the week, but I have a bit more time today...
Hi sis! (((x))) Angel, that one might have you going ar6/24 in circles??
Angel, it's a twisty one... it goes ar6/24 in a circle
I've just logged on and I think it's too big for me to start, too. I usually only tackle the ones that are under 200 words, otherwise I don't get anything else done.
duh...gosh, I'm bright today....
hydra, I just hopped on. why not? do what you can
Hubby`s birthday today, so I don`t want to spend too much time glued to pc!!!!! ((((Sis)))) Mums having trouble getting on here again. She can get online no prob, but Babble is another story!!
It's just my competitive streak, gramma. I can't bear doing it at all if I don't score at least 1000! Silly, I know. I have a heap of work waiting to be typed and that's what I SHOULD be getting on with, but...
good morning all! man, my first 43 words went sooo quick, now i'm losing focus
Hi Smaller :)
Sis, this one will take a few hours, better run away while you can! Say hi to mom for me, and sorry to hear she is having problems...we miss her! : (
hi smaller :) hydra - I'm the same... if the Rankings weren't there, it wouldn't bother me, but set me a target and I have to reach it... :(
Hi smaller! : )
Happt birthday to your hubby, lotti
No doubt she`ll keep trying Sis. Jeff went out to wash his baby (motorbike)!!! So I thought i`d jump on for a while but i`m not tempted to add any words now :)
Thanks Hydra, i`ll tell him :)
It's weird, isn't it, sherb? I guess that, if we didn't want to beat a target, man would never have moved from caves tostone houses, and would still be eating dinosaur stew! (Yum. Prob v. good for us. A pub in London is serving camel and llama dishes.
from targets to llamas in five lines... you have a helicopter mind, hydra... :D
hi lotti, sherb and lola! icons are hid b/c slows my 'puter, what's the theme today so i can live vicariously

Yoink what is that?? A hip flask or an aftershave bottle??
Yoink, is that a bottle of lion pee??

smaller - you could still have a safari icon... we'd be able to see it, but you wouldn't...
ok all, here's a mystery. my grid is only about half showing. anyone know why? only the bottom 3 rows are there.
Safari, by Ralph Lauren, of course
LOL Sis!!!!! :D
Hate to leave such good company, but gotta run for now. Be back later to finish up. Have a great day, everyone!

smaller, mine's been doing that too...just refresh : )
anglesong - hat + to speak and plural
Smaller, that sometimes happens to me if I scroll down with my mouse wheel before clicking somewhere other than the grid. It should be ok if you refresh
Bye Cathy.... Do you wear it Yoink? I`ve never smelt that one. My fave for men is Joop :)

Wondered why i haven`t seen you for a while Chris :) How are you??
hi Atalante :)
Hi Lotti - I'm well, thank you. How are you?
sorry, i'm outta here. ....unless one of you lovely people would like to change a poopy diaper? ...and of course i mean mine. lol
If it keeps you here Smaller then ok, lie back! :D
LOL Smaller!!!! I`m good Chris thanks.....better now we`ve had a sunny day in Yorkshire!!
it's all yours, smaller... later :)

Chris I don't get you hat + to speak clue. Sun setting here in Sussex
Angelsong - think of gold quality
Good morning.
good morning
maisie, think hat plus spoken exam : )
Maisie, the hat is a baseball --, and the speaking is like an exam that is spoken as opposed to written

Hi babbler! ((x)) It's not too bad : )
Daktari!! ...Clarence the cross-eyed lion... hi Babs :D
I loved that show sherb!
G'mornin' everyone!!
heh, I looked for Clarence, but couldn't find him. That still of him in the credits used to have us in stitches! LOL! :D Well remembered, Sherb!
Wonder why it won't accept adding an l to the end of the heart ca6/24... I know that's a word... adjective, right? Or must it end in o?
pa 5/12? either one?
jera, ends in o
Hi Eastern :) Hmm, Daktari, know the name but I think it must've been before my time
Hi EB! : )

I've tried lots of words I thought should work, oh well.
jera, it's a baby cheetah, isn't it?
Jera - do tell us about your icon... we've all been wondering about it :D
Yes, to be precise, it's Zazi, one of the new baby cubs from the National Zoo! He's my favorite, very sweet & friendly...

Lola, sherb, Yoink, Babbler...Whaaaazzzzuuuup?! Got a lazy saturday ahead...hope this puzzle isn't as miserable as yesterday's
Jera - I'm a short walk from Regent's Park Zoo in London... can hear the animals when the wind's in the right direction... but never visit... I was dragged round too many zoos as a child and that put me off...
Hey babe (((xxx))), LOL! Well I'm not going to put on the leopard print bikini, no matter how nicely you ask! ; )
I understand how that could happen, Sherb... we mostly go to see the Cheetahs, Sprite is ingratiating herself early since she wants to work in conservation someday...

Does anyone recognize my pic?

It's a rhino... more to recognize than that?
I think the icons need to be a wee bit bigger...can't tell Harp? What is it?
Lo, no... : / She's seen some she likes, but they weren't in stock so she's got a stock card to help her trace them elsewhere : )
It's attacking John Wayne's jeep....
BV, I can't make yours out at all... is that all for the best??
Huzzah for the rhino (not much of JW fan here)!
camel close up...
bunny - isn't yours a close up shot of a camel's snout??
bunny - don't worry, yours is big enough...
Think "Baby Elephant Walk" same movie....
Ohhhh! I see... it's a camel-kiss!! EWWWWWWWW!

Girl Scout cookies!!! Yum, I have such a hard time finding them, i like the ones with the chocolate and coconut....drool.
Are they made with real girl scouts?
my husband and son are leaving for the weekend I have it all to my self yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss
lol
Yes, Yoink.
Too bad we don't have anyone from Africa on the board today. They'd be rofl, with all our mistakes about safari animals, I'm sure!
Seriously, e-mail me & I'll hook you up... free priority mail shipping when you buy 6 boxes or more...
Yeah, too bad.... ; )
The theme didn't say African safari though Harp, it can cover a multitude of things
Jera, do we just mail a check or?...
We can swap snail mail addys or you can paypal me... whatever works best for you... paypal is faster of course
yeah it just said LETS ALL SAFARI :)
I want to go on a penguin safari. Now
When I was a Girl Scout (1960's) we actually took the cookies door-to-door. No pre-ordering. I always had HUGE amounts of sales because I lived in a university area. Fraternities and sororities. I can still hear the thundering hungry boys, running down the stairs, when someone yelled "COOKIES!"
yoink, point well taken!
*lends yoink her scarf and gloves*
warm boots & a hat...
What a great racket, harpjane... I'll keep that in mind when the cookies come in, we aren't too far from a college. That's actually my plan, we pre-order to get prizes for the Girls, but buy extras to take around. Even people who have bought before will buy again once their first batch are eaten & they see more of the actual product... here I thought I'd come up with an original idea...
PENGUINS!!! (I love penguins)
I lived next to a college when I was young...we had to pre-order (and then deliver)...I always had extra boxes & they sold like hot cakes whenever I was on the campus!!
Yoink - shall I draw you a penguin??
Eastern, please do!
new icon...i love elephants
the stranded whale in the Thames has been moved onto a barge, and is being taken out to sea...
that's good news, Sherb! : ) is it ok?
I can't seem to spot much today.
Poor, stupid whale. I hope it's healthy enough to be set free, there are tests to be done
thanks for the whale update. I read the story on MSN this morning, but it was from yesterday.
sherb-send us a link about the whale!
harp - www.bbc.co.uk - lead story...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/en gland/london/4633878.stm
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/eng land/london/4633878.stm
Yoink....please refresh!
Snap!
Aww, very cute penguin Eastern!
cute EB! Yoink, I know you've been asked, but what is your icon?
Just heard it on NPR. We don't have whales in Montana. It always sounds very exotic.
Bunny, it is Safari - by Ralph Lauren
heh, Yoink! great minds! : )
Montana...my husband wants to move to Montana.
the live video footage shows the whale being moved down river... just passed the Millennium Dome...
How about a penguin surfin' safari??
Ahhh, sarcastically ingenious! Love it!
I must run now, see you all tomorrow : )
bye lola...
Bye lola!
Bye Lola
Later, Lola!
Let's go surfin' now Everybody's learning how Come on and safari with me

cr6/27?
Harp, taken out of context that sounds really funny!
Angelsong - add a vowel to the cr5/16
My husband uses KY jelly to lubricate wires when he's threading them through a conduit. One time he left a message at work to buy KY jelly on the way home....never lived that one down.
ChrisP, thanks
LOL, Harp!
I have a cr6/27 that my son draws with, if that helps anyone . . .
Does anyone have a clue for the 9?
ca8 (leads to 9) google: A supporting column sculptured in the form of a draped female figure.
Thanks Babs!

peri used a word, peri used a wooooord... hee hee hee
Errg, I have the older three kids home today and the twins are at their aunts. I swear, they're worse than the little ones! Fight, fight, fight!!!
Babbler, found the other ar6 with help of onelook.com
I am lucky... pretty day today so the kids are outside running wild in the back yard...

Congrats to you, Anj!!!
Ahhh, no one would have ever noticed, it's a common one!
Cheers : ) This was a toughie...the vultures were circling for a while there... : /
how long did it take you, Anj? (worried now.. :/)
I don't feel like being organized today... I'm stumped for words so I'm making silly compound words now... Hmmm... toenarc isn't a valid word?? I'm shocked, shocked I tell ya!
Jera, you funny
help with ca5/20 ?
Babs, 4 hours just about, but I was trotting rather than galloping...
Plural of ca4/9
Any Babbllers using Firefox browser?
I am, Angelsong
I have a ca5/20 that's the plural of the ca4/9 before it...
Angel, I am : )
gulp! 4 hours..... : / Angel - I use firefox. why?

yes angel
Harp en plus ra4/5 HI Ren : )
thanks for the ca5 clue, another stupid plural I missed :)
any clues for the YU words? Can't find them.... : /
Thanks anj. Thought I tried all those combinations.
y + up4
hi ren !! :D
thanks doxy : )
The yu words, are alternate spelling of the ya words, if that helps!
babbler, yu ...they sound like the beginning of a story, once u*** a time....
hey anj hey all..,, all browsers around here today appear to be a little brought down ....
Babs, Y plus u4 as in 'once u.... a time...' Whack it with the plural fish for the yu6 : )
thanks harp!! :)
hey sherb i tried a new paint program last nite...
I have 81 words to go without using the list... a lot of help from these generous clues, of course...
so do I, Ren..and I've figured out a neat tip. If you use the stats lists...get hold of the Firefox QuickNote extension. you can copy text from the stats page into Quicknote, set it to open in a lloating window, and check off words as you find them.
I was just admiring it, ren... which program is it?
I just do that with notebook...
I just shrink my winword window...
Thanks Babbler - I'm done now at last
I shrink the log to go along side the puzzle
Hi everybody! in for a start during lunchtime...
sherb it's microsoft picture it...i'll check w/ mez. it may have come w/ one of his publisher packages.
Greetings, TempleOwl... interesting grid today...

*sneeszes* i'm allergic!
oh pardon me, spellit - *claps* YAY!
I guess all the done people left... no dr8 clue forthcoming??
the dr 8 uses the three right hand letters in the bottom row, and the fourth row. Start with dr, then go left, then sort of snake around....
Hiya -- haven't been around for a while -- dr8 is a female dragon
not me t-owl...love the fragrance yoink....
dr 8--a houseplant
hey sproing - welcome back !! :D

ca 7 & 8? I have the supporting column words. Need the other two.
Hi All -- I have another statistical query. Does anyone keep records of the "best of's" -- such as highest board, highest scoring word, longest word ??
po 7/40 na d po6/55 add onto po5/16 before them
ca 7 - 8 witches brew in them
Kent....I don't think so....
Harp, was that the one you needed?
bunny, I don't know. Didn't get the word yet. I need to brush up on my witch words, I guess!
OK, try a word for black pot used to simmer stews...
up6/24 anyone pls? ty
the witch brew ca is one of those "alternate spellings" Babble is famous for... drop the u...
* scratches head* po7/8? i have the po6
up + to 4/4
up + past tense of tear
un + op4/5
thanks bunny : )
and harp! : )
Oh is there more than one? I'm sorry, I don't have the list...
those up words are stupid even by babble standrars!
the po's have the same ending as strappy summer shoes do
Got it! Thank you. One more c and I'm taking a break.
but thanks for the clues!
I think my favorite stupid word was cooeeing.
we could have a ball with neologisms....
cr 5/16? I have the cough.
you know, sand***....
bunny - not using the list yet - but now i know there are more po6 than i have! :)
Oh, i see my mistake... I can't tell a N from a P... *cleans glasses vigorously*
oh, well, than one of them is the word for lbs., then add on the sand*** ending
cr 5/16 a close friend especially of long standing
thanks bunny - i took it on faith - i still cannot see it! BBL - class begins again!
I don't think I've ever seen that word singular before (the cr5/16)... interesting!
ty bunny. I can't see straight any more. 22 words to go. must have coffee....
I have 70 words to go & it's my naptime... gonna go lie down on the couch & doze off to the soap operas I taped... later, all...
:), I end my coffee drinking for the day when I finish the grid!
Any other clues before I go?
bunny - I didn't get the dr8.... :/
Don't forget to e-mail me if you are interested in Girl Scout Cookies... my tiny new Troop needs the funding!
see you later, Jera :)
Jera...your e-mail adress?
It's in my profile, BV...
Sorry, I didn't see it...
*yawns hugley & toddles off to the couch*
I'm a ham, I just don't see an e-mail adress. Guess I'll have to bake (gasp) if I want cookies.
babbler - google this...Any of several tropical plants of the genera Cordyline, some species of which are cultivated as house plants for their decorative foliage
thanks Ren! I was spelling it wrong... : /
me too...8)
I've got a couple of them too!! : )
how about clues for the last three di's?
i'm not there yet angel...
di 6/24 & 7/36 a persistent herbicide used especially to control annual weeds , di + ne**** (nerves)
di 4/5 - rhymes with a type of flat bread, pi**
That help any angelsong?
Allrighty, guys. Bye for now.
bye bunny...8)

i'm baaack!!!! babbler, the di6 and 7 - di + your + opposite of off, plural
who loves ya, doxy! ; )
gee, thanks *blushing*
ditto doxy!!!
Rennie - love your pix...did you draw it yourself??
no ebb...but i colored it...!
Babble has invaded my dreams! Picture this: the original babble game, posted to the wall. Sort of 50s looking. The tiles were physical tiles in primary colors. A note pasted to the board said "use tiles like scrabble. Figure out how to get tiles started. Like Jenga." Perhaps Dr_God could tell us, but I don't think that's actually how it happened!! LOL. What does Jenga have to do with it?
I like it!
julie, that's really funny
*whispers to everyone else* I think Julie is losing it!! tee hee hee!!
Losing it? Oh, it's long gone, let me tell you.
thanks eb julie....was this an epic dream?
I's true I have dreams of vampires, zombies, and quests, but this was a stand alone image.
*in best Dr. Freud voice* so...zees dreeems you are having, ya? do zey involve anyone else or just zis grid you mention??
eb - i told mez i wanted a new chaise lounge w/ a new lap table and corel draw so i could draw really neat pictures.....of course i made the mistake of telling him you drew in paint......8)
yes, and tell us about your mother
*continuing Freudian voice* I zink you are falling in love with theese thing you call Babble...but I zink it is a hidden love for ze creator of zis game,ya??
rennie - I'm guessing mez is hubby/boyfriend??
it's always love right dr freud ...so do we spray paint the walls julie loves.......
don't show him what i've drawn...or let me know & I'll make one really 'bad' to show how much better it could be corel (which I've never used...but looks good!!)
sorry eb - mez is hubsand....
ooops. I meant, with corel...
ra5/12 anyone, pls? ty
babbler, only one i have is the plural of what you do to the fridge late at night

we'll think of another one.....

hi FMitch...!!!
ca 5/12, how the value of a gem is measured
hi Fmitch : )
but caldron IS a witch's kettle - does it make me smart to know that? and no, i didn't make it all the way to the national spelling bee. even now, when i see it on TV, it's only once in a while that i go "i actually know that word!!!"
oh my, i posted the word! what stress i have been under to do that!!
hurshy, you are pretty smart, except that you just accidentally posted a word!
sorry harp.....sometimes my deslex gets the best of me..8}
Hi ya Babs,

Hi EB, missed your greeting too! am so trying to find the last 3 ca words, have got blinkered.
ok, so to clear this up, i did not know the second 7/8 combo, am not as smart as you all thought, and have not given any great clues (or any clues at all).
hurshy - but you're still loved!! 8 D
The bottom line here, the ca's are tough today!
don't worry, hurshy. : )
anyone care to share the ar 6/24?

ar6/24 - go in circles...
ar6- go ar**** and ar**** in a circle

Nonny ca 8 "A supporting column sculptured in the form of a draped female figure"
dr8 is a female dragon...
(hello all btw)
ah, dug it up a few pages back - hard clues to follow. it's funny because i kind of figured it was dragon related, had guessed the first 4 letters i mean, and just couldn't figure out the ending. even with the clues it was a challenge!
hi sproing!!
Babbler - your lovely icon is remingding me on an old black and white TV prog) showing my age again - Looks like Clarence the crossed eyed lion from a series called Daktari.
hiya!
Fmitch - it is!!! :D
babbler, another fan!!!
hey sproing
Daktari, btw. great theme tune too! :D
let me see if i can come up with a happier clue now that i have it... dr8 - dragonish beginning, then add an ar5 word (not in puzzle) that is like a stadium or place like that where they play basketball, except drop the r
LOL sorry v tired so typing is a bit shot!!!
Hi Babs, Ren, EB, All... : )

Thanks. I only have 70 right now.
hi muffinman
we love you already, muffinman - but please tell us you live on drury lane and you will throw us into ecstasy.
muffin, have you seen the stats? if you click the babblers anonymous link to the right, then click general, then click stats you will get a first and second letter breakdown of all the words
hey muffinman
Hi Muffinman!
Hi everyone. Thanks for the hints. I just started playing 2 days ago.
MM - has the addiction hit you yet?? LOL!
i hear the jaws theme.....muffinman has just entered shrk infested waters......
Be careful muffinman, it can take over your life.... (I can quit any time. Honest!......NOT!)
EB, I was totally hooked in ten minutes.
*sitting admidst piles of laundry waiting to be washed* harp - what do you mean it takes over your life?? hee hee hee!!
why do we always say these things to new people? babble is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.
life...wasn't that a magazine.......
Angel - it took me about that long too!!
la 7/32 & the 6/21 that (I assume) goes with it.
Hursh - cos we want to keep it four ourselves, it's our precioussssss!! LOL
it took you a whole 10 minutes???
eb, your icon is so cute. did you make that one, too?
ren - how much?
about the fastest money I ever spent, signing up for Pro...
Yep, I'm hooked. Was hooked on scrabble but the site got a little whacky.
Does Babble take over my life? Well, why am I still in my pajamas when it's after noon?
nothing wrong with that, jane! (me too)
la6,7 - young boy + r + opposite of off
leslieann...yup...it's a little distorted...I have to work on the grid proportions...but I promised lotti I'd include a giraffe...and Babs a lion...I wanted the tiger & elephant so I had to make it a little bigger....
me aslo too as well....
la6/27 pls, anyone? ty
babbler, look down, a clue was just posted
well i think it's cute as is, eb. you should design children's wallpaper or something.
I just gave a clue couple of minutes ago.
Back to (attempt to) finish off
welcome back
Babs - and EB has to think about the la6 for her icon when designing it
you smell nice today, yoink?
doxy - babbler's asking for the later one (which i could use too)
Sorry babbler, different la 6. La 6/27--newspaper job. la+++++ editor. Makes sure the columns are in the right place....
I've got that one, thanks. It's the la6/27 I'm after, further down the list... : ) hey again, Yoink : )
hey yoink
leslieann...thanks! I still think about writing/illustrating children's books...just working up the courage!!
babs, if you have the la5 - girls name, add an e
thank you! : )
EB, you should do it. You are a great artist.
Certainly hope so LeslieAnn! I had a shower earlier
what is your icon?
eb...you need to go for it!!!!
*blush* thanks...
omigosh eb, maybe we could do it together - i have a sort of poem that i think would make a great kids book, but i am no illustrator...
It's Safari by Ralph Lauren
hahaha good one
good one yoink
EasternBlue, I just self-published a nursery rhyme book, because as far as I could see it would be the rest of my life if I tried working through regular publishers. I know a woman whose book has been on the shelf at Candlewick for over ten years!
hey have ya'll heard or read that kinky friedman is running for governor of texas....
Vicuna - self publishing is a great idea...a little short on funds at the moment, but something to consider!!
how much does it cost to self-publish?
Vicuna - congrats on doing it yourself...that is a great step to take!! 8 D
Self-publishing is remarkably inexpensive for mostly text paperback. Unfortunately, children's books usually require full-color, and I wanted mine hardcover, too. That means there are fewer presses who can do it, and it costs more. I paid about $900 (which I saved up through art sales). I reckon I have to sell about $150 books to break even.
vicuna - how do you find a press?
(I mean 150 books, not $150.)
a good self publishing site: lulu.com
Of which I've sold about 20 so far, in a month.
Vicuna - congrats...it's great that you went for the hardcover too...looks 'snazzy' with a hardcover!
how many did you get printed up for that price, v?
Any more clues needed? otherwsie I am going to disappear as have a very early start tomorrow.
up 7/40?
FMitch - still bunches more to find - don't even know which clues I need yet...thanks for the offer...but have a nice sleep!! Sweet Dreams!
oh my, i thought boggle was the best game on earth...
yes clues clues fmitch! please some help on pa's. i have one of the first two 5/12s (praise) but not the other or the 6 there.
alison - until you found Babble?? 8 D welcome!!
It is "print on demand". That means I also have to pay for each copy of the book, but I can get however many or few I want. I got 50 to start with. The company I used is called dogear. I was quite pleased with the work they did, but frustrated with how many little delays there were in the process.
Hursy, pluralise the one you have and also change the last vowel of the 5 for the other 5
Leslie - do you mean the un7/40 as there is no up7. clue for the un7.40 is to uncover or unveil - un +d****
yup, that's what i meant, thanks fmitch
(My web site is nydamprints.com, btw, if anyone wants to go look, but you can't really see the quality of the book very well. I have to take better pictures.)
hurshy - be with you in 2 mins
Also, I meant Hurshy, not Hursy...
leslieann, I really like your lion. he is very cute.
yes! oh wait until i show this to my mother
thanks. he is from a cartoon here: http://www.weebls-stuff.com/to ons/kenya/ (take out spaces as usual)
Hursh both pa5/12 are the same spelling just change the last vowel, the 6 is a plural
ah, thanks folks (funny that you needed a couple mins fmitch, as i did too - my sister called)
clues please for the di6/24 and di7/36
di6,7 - di + your + opposite of off, plural
peri - begins like "tea is a ****etic", then add opp of off
there is a pa5/16 that means the person that settles the bills and then a pa6/30 - if you win some money you get a pa**** (looks like 2 x 3 letter words)
Vicuna - just took a look at your site...the images you've created are unbelievable...you carve all those into wood blocks & rubber??? WOW!!!
thanks found the di6 and di7
all set with the pa's fmitch, thanks, now working on the po7 which shouldn't be that hard considering...
missing the da4/6
got it, on to pu's
they'll probably stink :)
da 4/6 not son but.... take out the gh and the er
Thanks, EasternBlue. I do indeed, and if the last time you tried carving was linoleum blocks in middle school, believe me, this is much more fun! :)
TY hurshy
Vicuna - that is too funny! I did carve those in middle school!! I noticed you had a pix of bldg. at Dartmouth - are you in NH??
EB, no, I'm near Boston now, but the first year I was married I was there while my husband was finishing an MBA at Dartmouth.
ok, did people not GET my pu joke?
I was here laughing with you
It was very good, hurshy! I laughed, really I did!
yes hurshy, but i'm on the fu's so i thought it was best not to comment
yeah, the fu section got me at the time :)
So, EasternBlue, I guess all of this was a long way of saying, that if you can together the money to get started, it feels really good to go ahead and make your book. I had wanted to do it for years before I finally took the plunge. So hold onto the dream! :)
Hurshy I would have laughed, honest, but I just got side tracked by the TV - it is time for me to go so I will bid you all adieu till next time (which means some time tomorrow)!!!!!
la6/21 and la6/27?
Bye FMitch
bye fmitch - thanks for all the help!

TY hurshy
LOL hurshy

Sad news, everyone. I know some of you from overseas were following the story of the whale in the Thames. I've just heard that it's died. I feel very sad for the poor creature, all disorientated and alone, being hoisted onto a barge and taken downstream. They were trying to help it, but it must have been terrified.
ad + no4
oh hyrdra!!! thanks for telling us. That's sad. : (
Babbler, ad plus opposite of an adjective.

She shares a birthday with my youngest! Congratulations, she sounds wonderful.
Congratulations, doxy1lover. It must be wonderful to be a gran.
peri, ca6 - baseball hat + opposite of from + r
see you later, Yoink : )
I am loving it. She is a snuggler, which is absolutely the best thing in the world.
You are making me broody again
well, that sort of was a clue. it begins with to be late and ends with opposite of off
I'm going now too. I've got the sniffles.... : ( see you all tomorrow! : )
hydra, if you stiill need the ta7, it may be what Wayne's World people say when they're late to school: "Ta--, dude!"

Afternoon, fellow addicts. I see animals is the theme today.
Hate to leave, but must start a new baby quilt for someone at work who is adopting her first baby. She has been trying for 13 years.
doxy - go & be crafty!! it is for a wonderful thing!! bye!!
later doxy hey judi

EB- Needham's nothing too special to visit, but it's a really nice town to live in (except criminally expensive housing, like everywhere else, these days.) I see you're in NY now. Upstate?
safari, specifically, judi.
Hi Judi! I think "safari" is the official...but mostly animals!!
congrats on finishing - good luck with the quilt!
dr 4/7, what the appliance next to my washer does.
Vicuna - western (Rochester)...I grew up in Northern NY
harpjane, just found it before I saw your post, TY
li 5 & 6, Think reptile, omit the high-point consonant
well, well, they certainly made us work for this one, didn't they.
Okay, if it's safari, my animal still works. He's a meerkat.
Judi - indeed he does...quite cute too!!
i picked elephant because in relaxation therapy one thing you can do is pick a calming word or phrase and repeat it over and over, like "peace" or "let go". but mine is "elephant". for some reason i find it a very relaxing word.
TY harpjane
hursh - did you read Babar a lot as a child??
hurshy...instead of saying he** if i know...we say elephant rhino...
nope. :)
lol ren
oh NO i posted another word! twice in one day!!!

TY hurshy, po7 and po8 new words for me, actually pretty stupid words
pa6/30 and the pa4/7
I'm downloading Firefox. Will I be glad? Tell me what you think!
pa 6/30, what you get when you win in Vegas. The banker then pa 4/7 you.
harp - Firefox is the only browser my hubby & I use at home... at work I have to use IE (corp. policy)...
I use Firefox. It's brilliant.
There's an echo in here. I'm not doing it on purpose. Honest!
TY harpjane
Every time I add new software I wait for the computer to crash. Mine is practically ancient. Almost a year old!
harp, just cause it echoes for you doesn't mean it does for us, don't worry
ti5/10
How about that? I refreshed and the echo went away.
peri - a princess wears a ti _ _ _ on her head...usually made of diamonds
hursh-ti 5/10, 1. fortune telling card 2. Miss America has one on her head.
Peri- there she is, Miss Amer.....
ahem. I am NOT trying to start a war here. Have you considered one of the new iMac's with the Intel chip? advantages ... they "age" well (I used my Mac minitower for 6 years with NO problems). NO VIRUSES, malware, spyware etc. easy to use. very affordable and comes with EVERYthing included. No problems no crashing (really. I've been running OSX since it came out and have never crashed my computer. 2 years?)
thanks for the clues but I already had the ti5/10, forgot to cross it off my list
Actually we ARE thinking about that, Darleen.
sorry,. my post was directed at Harp
second li5/12 clues, please?
OOH cool!! Think hard! Think Different, LOL. If I can be of any assistance, feel free to email me ...
angel-do you have the first li 5/12? Move the last letter to the middle.
OK, I've dumped Jakey for BRAD! oooh those muscles ... yummy. refresh to see.
Thanks, Darlene! Biggest question--how's the learning curve?
harp, I've used Firefox for 2 years, and it just keeps getting better. I love it.
last li4/5
need help with na5/12 and na4/6 right after (I think)
Harp, seriously if you're comfortable with windows the learning curve will be very small. (I promise not to start a rant about how gates stole the mac os blah blah. But he DID). I think Apple has a switch page that will fill you in...let me look for it.
li +French second person familiar
can anyone pls help me with the fu 6 can't get it
Just saw the movie "Kill Bill, vol 1. Must say it was the most violent film I ever saw.
harp, the learning curve for Firefox isn't too bad, imo. there's lots of good free support in support forums.
peri... wasn't it tho'? But it was AWESOME because of it all. And I detest violent movies.
later - going to the bookstore.....8)
na 5/12, plural of the preceding 4/5. na 4/6, if no one is home, there is na** a soul to hear the mice play with the cats!
bye Rennie!
Is Kill Bill 2 just as violent?
Harp, oddly enough the page at Apple to help PC users switch is: http://www.apple.com/swit ch/ who'da thunk it?
harpjane, thanks, it is a good thing I remember my college French (which was many years ago)
OK, I'm going offline to install Firefox now. bbfn
Kill Bill 2 wasn't QUITE as violent as 1 but it was still pretty "bad." A lot of folks didn't like the 2nd one but I did. But then, I'm weird. Can't go by me.
fu/6--plural of a piece of furniture
hmm. Where's Movieman when you need him? P own by Kill Bill 1 and 2. I really like Tarantino's work.
gah! That was supposed to be "I own" not "P own"
ty mama
harpjane, thanks, found the plural, but I already have the na4/6 you gave a clue for. need the other one please
no prob :)
Darleen, I knew what you meant :). I rented the movie from the library, not sure i would rent Vol2 though

akitter did you get the ca8/60??
ello ruthy
no davetins no ca 8/60 yet i am getting blurred vision from looking
Ditto Davetins last and I'm also looking for the Cr7-40
aknitter, for the ca8/60, think of the big artery in the neck. Then replace the middle vowel with two other vowels. End result sounds vaguely similar....
Hey everyone! Back from getting my window replaced. How's everyone's Saturday?
Judi, think like a little kid for the cr7/40
sha go on line
it's a supporting column of a female figure, sounds a bit like an artery in the neck
cr7/40 is plural of wax pencil cr6/27
welcome back Jen :)
ahhhhhhhhhhh i can't find it. (but that big vein in my neck is bulging) lol
ca8/60 - a supporting column sculptured in the form of a draped female figure

Aknitter, you'll have much better luck Googling "a supporting column of a female figure". Trust me.
well done akitter
judi that is what i did (but don't tell any one, let them think I am just brilliant!!)
now on to the 2nd 7/36 (rubs hands briskly to ready for typing)
for that ca7/36, think of Radar's rank and mash the first syllable.
I think they also used to be a Cigaratte brand Sweet Ca _ _ _ _ _
Cigaratte brand!! i never smoked
caroline? dun dun DUN!
No, but you probably watched TV and were inundated with idiotic commercials. Remember Marlboro's and Tareyton's?
lol Leslie ! :D
u.s. ciggies or canadian?
The cigs were French... I got the word(s), thinking it's the French word for Radar's rank.
I believe it was US smoke brand.
ahh gotta love google and it's language tools ty all for your efforts
Okay, I am very orderly about my word list (I go letter by letter and nothing varying)... but all these clues MADE me put in that word!! Now I have a random ca word while I am trying to work on to's!!!! :)

I'll get back to my Remy after that

Well, the ro7 is like the Capitol Dome... the ro6, take off the last vowel. Alt. ro6, if someone is obese around the middle, they are ro...
And before anyone smacks me down for it, I just noticed I used a word... SORRY!
No smack down, we just sing the song... Jen used a woooord, Jen used a wooooord! ;>
LOL Jera! :) Honestly, there are people around who do get very po'd about it, even if it's an honest mistake.
I need the last ro6/24 & the ro5/14 right before it, please...
Never midn, found 'em...
Jen - I've decided not to speak to you since i'm so mad!!
You know that A word I used? take off the A.
:P EB!
I've never used a word in the log... (yeah right!!)
Isn't it funny... the best way to find a word that's been driving you crazy is to ask for help... odds are you'll see it as soon as you post the message...
uh...I usually still need the clue!!
well...off to eat dinner (grilled cheese...hubby is watching basketball w/ friends & that's all I could muster to cook for myself!!)... I may be back later to finish the grid!! Good luck...and Jen - hope your night is better!!
OMG!! Just finally looked at the ca's!!!!!
Bye EB! Take care and have a good one!
Bye, EB, enjoy your grilled cheese!
*fans Jen so she won't faint over the ca's*
30 to go... lemme know if you need help...
And I thought I was conquering this grid easily! Silly me!
Some very nice witchy words, though, hence my out of theme icon... I just couldn't stand it any more, LOL
i'm stuck -- un 6/24 and 5/20
last 5 words: either the 4th or 5th ca4/6 ( have the one C***Cod, 1st pa5/12, 2nd pa4/5 and 2nd pa5/14.
last four words actually, found one of the ca4 words
peri do oyu have the ca -- mafia guy?
I didn't have that one aknitter... thanks!
yw
pa 5/12 a song of joyful praise
pa 4/5 same as the 5/12 just drop the o
aknitter... un6/24 = close un5/20 = un + stitch clothes together
ok jera found the stitching one but don't understand the close one
un + opp. of "close"
aknitter, got the song of joyful praise, but there is no O in it to drop to get the pa4/5, another clue please
still need pa5/14 (2nd one)
hi periwinkle from conn
peri do you have the 5/12 that is just like the joyful song but with an o and not a a (last vowel)
pluralise the 4/6, peri
hi marigold, I figured you were in conn. Will you be able to pick me up at 10:30 am on Monday?
jen, i must be dumb, stupid and blind ......can't find it
aknitter I have that P word
of course
If you close some thing it is un + op4/5...
marigold, how are doing with the game, I just need 3 words
aknitter, when you get a letter in the mail, you .... it; when someone comes a-knockin' at your door, you .... the door to them.
oh beat me with a fish i am sooooo ashamed
peri did my clue help for the second pa5/14??
Jera, I have the plural of the pa4/6, it must be the other pa5/14 I need.
Okay, peri... end it with a vowel... trial & error...
<<hands haddock to aknitter>> :)
ty jen
thanks Jera, never heard of that word
19 left... D's & L's...
Jera, finally got your witchy clue in the ca's!!!! Wow am I dense, lol!
I think THAT should be our Babble slogan... "Never heard of that word before!"
and the race is on! I have 21!
still missing a pa4/5 (have the one that is window glass)
Don't beat yourself up, Jen, they are "alternate spellings" threw me a long time...
found the pa4 I need, now just one word a C word, need to recheck list once again.
pa4/5 pa--legal
Could I get a clue for the an5 and the da6?
I am missing a ca4/6 Have the C***Cod one. This is my last word.
It is either the 4th or 5th ca4/6 I am missing
ca 4/6 there is the mafia guy and the birthday ca**
po 6/27 anyone?
just monkeytyped and found the last ca4
Lots of new words for me today. I am DONE finally. Thanks for all of the clues. marigold are you still here, is Ava still up. I would love to talk with her on the phone. I am getting off the computer now.
Woo hoo peri!!
aknitter po6/27 is a pl.
yea Periwinkle!
no Ava is sleeping. I will be going off soon
la6/21, please? I'm currently after the first one, but I don't have any of them...
ty mas, missed the obvious (hits self with fish of obviousness)
LA6/27 magazine pasteup
adding an e to the end of the women's name gives you a 21,not sure if it is the 1st as i don't have them all yet
just found the 5/18 so I was thinking of that other ending, thanks!
Either ar6/21 anyone?
7 to go...
jen both ar's are the same word just a differnet vowel ending --- Known or understood by only a few
AR 6/21 ar = what the little train said "I think I --- = a different vowel for each word
TY aknitter and mas!! :)
Does anyone have DA6 or AN5?
an 5 if i am listening to you i am lending an***
an5: a + opp. of "far"
the first la 6/21 if anyone can help i'd be greatful
Whoo-hoo!!! *happy dance of doneness*
yeah jera yippeeee
scottish boy + a boy's name (both 3 letters)
WTG Jera!!! :)))) Missed 2 P's, 1 C, and 1 L, so I am working thru that.
Thanks aknitter and Jen.. Yea Jera!
I thought I was done but I missed a Y... I hate it when that happens... nice to have the stats grid!
And your clue for the L, helped me too!
Happy to be useful rather than merely decorative...
jera i tried the 3 letter boys name (like the sun) but it won't take the word
Not like the sun... think Harry Potter's mate
aknitter, Pres. Reagan's first name shortened.
duh! My daughter's name is int he grid and i keep getting distracted by it
her name is rae
I still have 28 to go and have hit the wall. Could I have clues for the LA7 and the UN7?
*wonders what a 3 letter boy's name like the sun would be*
Oh, duh... that was my maiden name!
un7: un + dr5 (one half of what you put up over your windows)
la 7 (LOL not again) let me give the clue.... scottish boy + a boy's name (both 3 letters) think harry potter's friend
Thanks Jen. I really am blind.
la7 is the plural of the one we're talking about scottish boy + boy's name (not ray)
jera --- ray (ray of sunshine)
jera what was your maiden name? rae??
Yup, that was my maiden name... my nickname was Sunny...
YW mas! 1st pu6 anyone?
Thanks Jera. Forgot the pl.,........again.
My maiden name was Ray... from the clan MacRae!! Whoo-hoo... going to the Highland Games this summer, btw...
non sequitor
Nevermind!!! Can't believe, me a PoliSci grad, I missed that one!!
DONE!!!
rae was my grandmothers maiden name (from edinborough scotland) swears it was always rae and not macrae
pu6/27 = Indian title of respect, also a critic, as in political pu6
Huzzah for Jen!! *sweeps Jen up in happy dance of doneness*
Pass the haddock... I couldn't believe I missed that one... I think I watch every Sunday morning news show! LOL
I believe her, aknitter... not farfetched at all
Yes, so my son is still up and I am letting him watch Digimon... didn't understand a da** thing the narrator just said!
If you are anywhere near North Carolina aknitter, you should come to the Games this July!
Oh wow, Sprite was into Digimon back in the day... memories! I knew 'em all, Pokemon, too!
i've always wanted to. i am a little to far north of you (massachusetts)
I'm sure you have Gatherings there, too... I love going to this one since it's helpd in MacRae <eadow at Grandfather Mountain... heaven on earth to me...
Aren't there Scottish games around here too? (meaning DC) I'm just now figuring out all the POwer Rangers!
Gwyd passed out on the couch during Madagascar... bless his heart... big day playing outside with the Sprite...
there are some games in the western part of mass but it might be closer to go to your area!! I am in one corner of the state as far away from the other as you can get lol
Oh yes, I was reading about something in DC area... but I like the excuse to go home... I was born in Tennesse & grew up in North Carolina...
Jera... i grew up in East TN, and went to the Games at Grandfather Mtn many times as a kid. It is heaven on earth... and a great place to fly kites!
SL4 - I have the cut, fall and to kill. Thanks
You need a narrow strip of metal or wood, mas
ITA, kimdog... did you ever go to Tweetsie Railroad??
i've been by there many times, but I don't think we ever went there. I did visit Silver Dollar City before it was Dollywood, though.
Okay, time for me to put my DS to bed... if I can, I'll be back for givin' clues in about 10! :)
Thanks Jera. I still need 20 and at the rate I'm going, I may not finish.
tu 4/6 please and thank you
Later, Jen!
Think poop, mas!
got it
We are hoping to get over to Tweetsie this summer, after the Games, depending on weather & health
Sorry aknitter, I called you mas...
not a prob;em jera i was more disturbed that as soon asn i saw think poop i new the answer!!!
I was thinking of mas... don't give up! 20 left from a 200+ puzzle is soooo close!
I'd also like to get back to Cherokee, NC so the kids can get some heritage from their father's side... they are more (American) Indian than I am!
That's ok Jera. I was thinking that you were feeling my frustration and I was thinking poop but it started with sh--! LOL
So many colorful 4 letter words come to mind whilst playing this game, LOL! Some are even in the grid!
I get back to the area a couple of times a year. Would love to see the games. There is nothing hotter than seeing a big man throw a telephone pole!
even a few choice longer words
Don't forget he does this in a skirt, kimdog... now that's a REAL man!!
anyone have da 6/24 and care to share it?
It's July 6-9 this year... come on out!
Evening/morning all. 23 words left to find here and we're not giving up!:-)
That's a weird one... a plant called a thorn apple...
Howdy, Jacula! I'd be glad to help if you need it, I'm just hanging out chatting...
My lioness is a real photo we took when she walked right up to our car last summer.
Hi Jera. Thanks. We're still working on the words at the mo but might be glad of clues shortly.
And I'm back! Hey Jac!
Awesome, Jac... do you go to a safari park? Those are cool, always wanted to go to one...
ha! I actually new what that plant was, never thouht i'd find it here
Ooh, that rhymed! I'm a poet and didn't know it!
That was fast, jen, did you catapult him from the living room?
Hello Jen. You're back again! That rhymed, too. LOL.
Yes, it was a safari park. Took over a 100 pics that day.
I gotta go put a pull-up on mine before he goes down for the night... back in a few...
Yup, sped-read (man I'm on a roll for rhymes!) him "Just Me and My Mom" from the little monster series! and he was out like a light! I need a drink! Who's pouring?
So Jac, was it like Discount Lion Safari in The Simpsons? Or a much better one?
Not just lions. All the animals were out and about that day.
I'm back but will need to go watch grown-up TV in about 10 more mins...
di 6/24 por favor
We had one of those parks out in the Shenandoah Valley, where I used to live, wonder if there's one nearer DC? You need a fair bit of wild area for that sort of thing...
di6/24 - reads like a text message to tell Diana that she is not off. LOL.
You are down to the wierd ones... can't think of a clever hint... here's the definition, might goggle nicely... A white crystalline solid, C9H10Cl2N2O, used as an agricultural herbicide.
di6: google "A white crystalline solid, C9H10Cl2N2O, used as an agricultural herbicide" and the 7 is its plural. Jac, that sounds wonderful! We did a wildlife park in South Dakota a few summers ago, lots of bears, etc. but not exactly the habitat of lions...
Jen, GMTA...
Oops, Jera, not up on that one... what is GMTA?
red checks, gray boxes --- doin the dance of doneness HEY! what makes you think that I would not recognize that chmical formula?? I might be some brilliant chemist ya know LOL
Finished!!!
grabs anglesong and twirls her around in celebration
*~**~*~*FIREWORKS FOR AKNITTER*~*~*~*
this grid was kicking me in the posterior!
woo hoo angelsong!!!!!
woo hoo aknitter!!
madly mixing chemicals like the brilliant chemist i am.... and creates beautiful fireworks ***^^^~~~~^^^***
anyone need a clue before i dash off to knit?
*~*~*~*FIREWORKS FOR ANGELSONG*~*~*~*
16 words left to find here. We'll keep plugging on for now.
Ooooh, wotcha working on aknitter? I just finished up a scarf for my MIL!
jen i am making a cute cardigan for myself, ties in the front, short chanell style
if i made a scarf for my MIL i'd have to tie it tightly around her neck (oh did i say that out loud)??!!
I've nearly finished my 5th hairy scarf in a bout 10 days. Latest one is another for my Mum. It's so nice and soft I want to keep it for myself.
Sounds neat! I think the hardest thing I've made is a cap for my son, and as you know, that's not very hard! I have to work on 2 baby quilts and my scrapbook (still stuck in 2004) before I tackle anything harder!
Aknitter - LOL.
I made about 3 eyelash-yarn scarves for myself this winter. Made a short poncho but now that it's done, I don't really like it! LOL
jen, i don't sew (not even buttons) I'd rather buy another shirt
my newest thing is felting knitted things. very fun and very cool when done. i have a purse, slippers, cell phone bag ... it is addicting
Jen - eyelash yarn? What a lovely way of describing it! I've done 2 of those and have 2 more to do.
LOL, aknitter! Trust me, it's nothing fancy... just straight lines and squares, but my friends seem to appreciate the gift. I need to finish the first one before I leave for FL in 6 days and I haven't even bought backing or batting! (or for you non-quilters, the insides and the back)
Aknitter - there is some yarn out over here that looks like ragrugging (if you know what I mean). The scarf patterns look okay but I don't really like the jumper patterns in it. There was even a bikini pattern - it looked ridiculous!
I was watching Knitty Gritty on DIY the other day and they did a felted/knitted stuffed bunny... they said it was a beginner project. HA! Jac, that's what my grandmother calls it and she's been knitting for 70 years, so I figured she knows where-of she speaks. :)
Jen- Well it's wonderfully descriptive. Will be especially so when I knit the black 'eyelash yarn' one for myself. It reminded me of sweeping false eyelashes or mascaraed lashes when I bought it.
Oh wow, what did I miss? Jen, Great Minds Think Alike (we gave almost exactly the same clue)
Well, the conversation has turned to knitting, so I have nothing to contribute... so I will join the family in watching NUMB3RS...
Well, my word partner's given up the ghost and gone off up to bed. Poor old thing, he's just had a birthday you know! LOL. Clues for the yu's would be handy, please.
*does happy dance of doneness in aknitter & angelson's honor*
Jen: I'm not aknitter either.
'Nite all... let's do this again tomorrow, shall we? *flies off into the night*
Erm, Jera... Aren't I the one who's supposed to 'fly off into the night'? LOL.
Yikes! I didn't know there was a NUMB3RS on!! I sure hope my computer is recording it! :) Take care Jera! Jac, I made a scarf a few months ago that is my fav that is a garnet eyelash with angora and ahint of gold in it... well worth the $12 I paid for the ball!
$12 a ball, Jen??? Is that a 100g ball?
yu: google "A shrub (Ilex Cassine) of the Holly family, native from Virginia to Florida." and it's pl.
Jac -- witches fly too! Just in a different manner ;) Hi everyone -- back to find 70 more words :) (*HUGS*)
GW: **HUGS**
(*JoJo*)
The good 'eyelash yarn' is about £2.50 per 25g ball here. You can get it gor 99p per 25g ball but, weirdly, it only knits up (on same needles) to half the length (and has many joins in the yarn on the ball).
Hi GreyWoulfe. I am missing both PA5/12's if anyone has them I would bow down. I am really getting desperate. Only 14 to go but am averaging one word every 15 mins.!
Anyone out there want to talk about the big football games tomorrow? Who ~~ Seahawks or Panthers?? Remember I am from Seattle. Watch it, I am very protective of my Seahawks.
Hey GW!!! Welcome to the knitter's circle! LOL Jac, I saved the label....it's a Sunbeam Paris Mohair (made in UK by Thomas Ramsden) and it was 50g, but it made a very long scarf with size 13 needles
for one of the pa5's - take the pe4 (peasant) and add teh a in the correct spot
for the other change the O to and A
I'm really in trouble. I just realized I have all the PA5's Thanks anyway. I think I will take a break.
JoJo -- Kirsten supports your Seahawks :)
Ahhh, JoJo, I don't care about any other team as long as Denver wins! Since my beloved Redskins didn't make it, my next fav team are the Broncos.
Hiya Wolfie. You must be getting excited now? I hope the nursery's ready?
Jen -- whereas here, since the Eagles washed, we are ultimately for the Steelers ;)
Jac -- I tried to get some furniture reorg done today only to have my daughter demonstrate that she can now climb over the gate keeping her out of my room!
GW, I grew up loving the Broncs (born in CO), so I still have loyalties there. I'm just po'd that the 'Skins couldn't pull it off after that season!
GW: I know that, and thank Kirsten for that. The line ( in LV) is not favorable to the Seahawks, just giving them the 3 pt home advantage. But, will watch and either rejoice or cry in my beer, or wine, whatever.
Jen: Hey!!!, My Seahawks beat the skins. Happy, happy! You aren't????
Got the 'yu' words from the clues, thanks. Good thing I'm a gardener as well as a knitter, cook etc., etc., as I know that plant as Dahoon and the 'y' word for it as 'yau'. There again, the witches' pot has a 'u' in it,too, normally, as does the 'ca' tile sticking stuff (both in the grid).
HEY!!! Good thing I checked back! {{{GreyWoulf}}}
It's a pa6 that I need. Not the one that involves the exchange of money.
((**Jera**)) :D
mas - plural of the pa5/12 above it.
We don't seem to have similary Babble schedules much, GW... are you guys ready for Imbolc??
am i too late to start? : D
Any help for the 'un's'? I have the uncovering one, the resealing one and the unstitching one. Need the 4/8, 4/5 and 6/21, pretty please...
Thanks Jacula. I have missed most of the pls. tonight.
Temple: I just started 20 min's ago, you don't have to solve, but just enjoy.
Jera -- we are a bit too focussed on the imminent arrival to have proper plans -- Sebastian is being delivered on Feb 3 :)
Hiya Temple, and also JoJo.
Wolfie - Babbler has scheduled my GlamRock icon day for Sebastian Day.:-)
Jojo, that was a travesty of a game! But this was the furthest we'd made it since like 1998, so not too bad. If Snyder would just stop messin' with the team! Jera! Can you explain all of that to me the next time we meet? I am very curious.
Oh wow, you know the sex & everything?? Now is that due date or more planned than that?
Temple -- 242 today -- but the majority are fairly straight forward -- I got all but about 80 before turning in this AM and I was wiped out from being afflicted with a stomach virus :)
Now that you're here, Wolfie, I might change my lioness for a pic of the lovely old Alpha wolf I met on my Safari day. (These are real photos, not taken from the Net photos, btw.)
Oooh, I really like the name Sebastian! Not that you need my approval, but nice choice GW!
Jen: Seahawks haven't been a contender since 1984. Got ya beat. HA!
Jera -- planned C-section due to complications with Kristianna's delivery Jen -- Thank you -- middle name will be Evan
UN4/8 - think panties or briefs only singular and with the sometimes vowel.
I agree, great name, Latin = venerable, can't go wrong with that...
Jojo, Snyder goes through coaches like underwear! I absolutely refused to root for them in the Spurrier year (since I am an FSU fan and hate all things GAtor!!)
Both of mine were planned... nice to not have the uncertainty... will she be awake during delivery? Sorry, I'm nosy...
Thanks mas. Got it!
Jera -- yes she will
GW, Evan was our next choice for a 1st name, but in the end we chose Ethan because of a John Wayne character. Plus, Ethan Earl sounds better than Evan Earl (and we had to have Earl since it's hubby's real name... insert laugh here)
Jen: Then route for the Seahawks tomorrow. Not going to the game, couldn't afford the tics, didn't win on the radio freebies, so watching it on TV. Hey route for the Seahawks!!
My first child was 3 weeks early and my second was 3 days late.
Jen -- LOL ;D
Jen - Is your surname 'Dukeof'? LOL.
I have tons of friends in WA state (b/c of the Navy) so I will root for the Seahawks! But be forewarned, if the Broncos beat the Steelers, it's Broncs all the way!
Wolfie - do you want to see my alpha wolf pic?
un6/21 unrip? I hope that helps.
Yeh: Like Duke, duke of Earl you mean? Back in the 60's?
I would love to, Jac :)
No but get this, my maiden name was Goff (Irish spelling of Gough... meaning Smith) and my parents refused to tell anyone names before I was born so they would razz my great-grandma that I would be named Jack Goff. Get it?
Omigod Jen! ROFLOL.
Jen: Yes understood. I really think it will be between the broncos and the seahawks for the seahawks. I will route for the bronco tomorrow, I told Tim that last week or so, and now I now you will also route for the Seahawks.
Wolfie - okay, hang on a min. Just tried 'unyap' for the un's. Figured it might be a method the African's use on the Benjii dogs that have no bark. Didn't work!
Jen: You don't have a bad maiden name. My maiden name was, ready for this everyone, Butcher. Anyone, especially a girl, like me, who grows up with the maiden name of Butcher, grows up to be tough, ~~ which I am ~~ I think~~maybe not.
speaking of football -- have 'The Replacements' on in the background -- such an utterly predictable bit of tripe!! -- not even good eye candy in it!
I had to grow up with golf-ball, goof, goof-ball... But my married name isn't much better since it's a veeeery strange spelling of a fairly common name. (won't give it away here, since that would be TMI on the net!!)
Gene Hackman is about the only good thing in the film
REFRESH to see the lovely wolf.
Oh, that is a beauty! help with the 1st ya5, please?
Jen: Sorry, but I got a pretty good common last name now for 34 years, so I am happy. It's one of those names that ~~ sort of ~~ fades ~~~ into the sunset, with no notice of strangeness. I am happy.
Wolfie - first ya5 is a measurement of 3 feet.
Both of mine were planned C-sections, but I had to be out...
Beautiful wolf Jac! Replacements wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen. What channel?
* plus a bit more/
Wolfie - it's a plural. Go right to the vowel rather than left.
Jera, they threatened me with C-section after 12 hours of labor and boom! LOL
Jen -- it was butchered by TNT -- just ended --- the acting wasn't bad, but the script was pure formula!
GW, did I ever tell you what Gwyd got for Yule? A Wolf! We adopted one for him & he just loves the little stuffed one that came with the kit...
Jen -- that is sort of what happened with Kristianna, except that after 12 hours she had gotten stuck at minus 1 station and showed no sign getting unstuck
That would do it Jen... I actually went into labor a bit with Gwyd... they gave me horrible drugs to stop it that have me the shakes... I hated that!
Hmm, so what do I watch now? Tired of Food network, REFUSE to watch any more children's channels... maybe I need to pull out a DVD. Opinions? (and no, after my very long nights of stomach flu and waiting for the police, I am remarkably NOT tired!)
I'll show you a pic of a Bengal tiger in a bit. You wouldn't be able to see, on here, the detail of the series of pics Paul took - of the tiger getting up, strolling across, taking a drink from the water trough and then turning around, lifting his tail... I was on his side of the car, knowing how far a normal cat sprays when it pees... P had my window open, the better to take pics... I thought I was going to have a shower... that bloody tiger missed me by about half an inch! It's okay, you can all ROFLOL.
We have so much stuff on our Tivo queue, I don't know when I'll find time to watch half of it...
Yeah, my problems actually really started after Ethan... let's just say they thought they would have to do a radical historectomy!
Jen - police? did I miss something earlier that I should read up on rather that have you rehash again?
Speaking of police, has anyone heard from Mamabear? How things worked out?
and TNT is showing 'Remeber the Titans' now
GW, someone broke into my car, literally, and stole my portable GPS... police didn't show up until 11:45 last night.
I just feel so blessed I was able to have 2 normal (well, physically anyway) kids, any way i could... it was funny though that my neurosurgeon forbade me to go into labor... I was in trouble coming in to have Gwyd!
Mama: Are you there. How is your son thing going??
Mama is doing alright, Jac --she is extremely grateful for all the support she has received from Babbleonia :)
hello sprite, youi still on?
hi again! isp acting up - got kicked out : ( ...ya 6 clue, please?
we're watching the avengers dvds
*yawns hugely and stretches, almost losing balance in chair* Guess I'd better pack it in, people...
night, jera!
<<<hugs Jera>>> Talk to ya later sweetie!
Jen -- That stinks! My Retail Mgr at Lenscrafters had his car broken into the other day while at the mall -- however, the person ransacked the car, but didn't actually take anything -- just left a huge footprint in his backseat
Still can't find those bloody un's - 4/5 and 6/21!
night jera
Jera -- Sleep Well, Dream Deep! (*Hug*)
Hiya Ren., Temple and anyone else I've missed. Did no one think it funny that I almost got peed on by a Bengal tiger??
'Night Jera. Sleep sweetly.
Jen -- another viewing choice is the Funniest Home Videos on TLC :)
For un4 us a child is born..... un6 un + "ripped"
,,,,ummmm,,,,how mistress...how did you get that close???
Hi ren!! (*Hug*) -- the movie or the series?
series w/ joanna lumley
Jac -- having talked to people who have had stuff hit by tiger piddle, you are very lucky -- that stuff is destructive
Jen - Thanks!
okay, frantically searching for pic I took of bears mating at my wildlife park....... Okay, settled on History International's "Great Spies" then who knows! ;)
ok...i read the log mistress...ughhhhhhh
Sweet dreams, all... special blessings of Brigit & Arianrhod on you & yours, GreyWoulf!
BTW -- I have the 3 ft ya4/7 and the plural -- I need the ya5/16 & 6/27 that precede it
Whoops! Evening Renfield!!! :)
hey jen!!!
Wolfie - destructive? I know! It also stinks worse than wolf pee (nothing personal! LOL).
like ggggrrroooosssssssssssss!!!!
Jac - that is because predator pee is necessarily more 'pungent' due to the competition in the wild and the need to mark territory
my dad was bit by a wolf when he was a kid....
Ouch! -- how did it happen? Was the wolf ill?
Wolfie - the ya's you seek are the holly again, Ilex Cassine. However, the 5 sounds like what you might say to a barky dog or a talkative person, the 6 is the plural.
my great grandfather caught them and kept them as pets...they guarded his stills and my dad got to close to a still......
*smack* and I just got the yu's too!! via Google!!!!
Stills, Ren? Was this legal or hooch?
i don't think it was legal....
Ren - I assume we aren't talking 'stills' as in photographs??
Nothing wrong with hooch! I make my own Limoncello. :)
Ren - During Prohibition?
lol mistress...no we're talking moonshine...hooch....medicine. ...
BRB - Off to find my Bengal tiger.
jen - is that a wine or a beer or a cider?
REFRESH to see the tiger that tried to scent mark me.
ooohhh -- Pretty kitty!
wow - and you were real close to him?
Ren - about a foot away from him.
Actually, Limoncello is an Italian aperitif made from eaither vodka or grain alcohol... I make mine with Everclear, lemon rind, and simple syrup.
Limoncello is a liquer. It's lemons, vodka, water and sugar.
Just popping on to say hello to everyone.... HELLO!
Hi Mama!!! (*Hug*)
Mama: Good to hear from you today. How is your son situation going?
Hi GW ((((((((((((((GW)))))))))))))) ))
Mama - Hiya! How are things in the bear den? ((((HUGS))))
Beautiful tiger Jac! Can't find a pic that would go well onto an icon of my bears doing it. It was actually quite funny. :/
MAMA!!!! Hey there!
jen - as you can tell, i do not have my great grandfather's expertise in the spirits....does sound interesting!!!
Me too! Hi all. I have 2/3 of the words and less than 1/2 the points! Someone give me some big points please. And chemical formulas don't cut it! :)
hey hey mama!!!!!1
Jen - if you have an on-line photo thingey like photobucket, you can post the pics on BabAnon. I wish we coudl post pics straight from our computers on there - PLEASE TAKE NOTE SWMBO, IF YOU READ THIS.
Hi JoJo - things have settled down to a low roar. I was forced to have the "grizzly" in me come out. It was a real learning experience. Everything the police told me turned out to be a lie.... we will be getting a lawyer.
Hi Mom!! -- do you have the 9 letter word yet?
Hiya Hoot. Don't forget, we will all be relying on you to give us news on Feb. 3rd, if Wolfie's too busy or too spaced out (that weird hyper hormone thing that happens when a child is born) to give us news.xx
H! no!
I can't believe I finished the whole thing!
evening, everyone! What's going on these days?
Mama: Nothing like an irate mama. I am with you, cops can't take irate mothers. Get your lawyer. They do have free ones, you know, go for it. I am with you. You sound like a younger me. With you.
way to go mas!!!!!!!!11
You did it, mas Yayyyy!!!!!
hootowl, do you have the dr8? google a female dragon!! and ca8 means " A supporting column sculptured in the form of a draped female figure." and you get the 9 by making it plural
Hah! What makes you think he'll be in any shape to tell me? He's in Pa and I'm in Memphis.
Woo hoo mas!!!!!
I'm like hootowl - trying to at least get the biggies I'm missing. My virus or cold or whatever it was is back in full force and I feel dreadful. I am missing 2 8's - the po and ta - anyone please? (and if they are plurals or add ons from other words - I probably don't have them either!)
Hi Charm!!!! congrats mas!
po7: "A unit of force in the foot-pound-second system of measurement, equal to the force required to accelerate a standard one-pound mass one foot per second per second (approximately 0.138 newton)" and to get the 8 make it plural
MamaB - po7 = English unit of currency + VP ** Gore. po8 is pl.
I don't think I will try a big one again. It reminds me of eating an elephant one bite at a time!
*~*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR MAS*~*~*~*
I did. Wasn't helpful. I think I should not have had the B&S. Not thinking clearly about stuff I know!
Hi Charm -- not too much -- Babbling and babbling and waiting for Feb 3rd :)
ta7= ta5 + opp. of "off" ta8 is plural
Jen - you're kidding right? :):):)
MamaB - TA7 = ta5 meaning late + preposition (not in but ** top of) ta8 is pl.
Hoot - All The Way From Memphis - Mott the Hoople song, I remember it well. He'll give you news, never fear!
Hey, GW - Feb 3 will be here before you can break out in a sweat!
ta7 is a particle which travels at less than the speed of light -- the opposite of a tachyon is sounds like it is always late
Hoot, I never joke..... :)
How about the un7 or the up6?
ok - so what is the other ta5?
po8/55 - plural of the 7 before it. Imperial measure of weight (16oz) or UK money (once 20 shillings, now 100 pence) + first name of UK's Mr. Gore or Mr. Weird Yancovic
un7= un + dr5 (one half of what you cover your windows with)
un7 - un + curtain.
got em - thanks! I am very excited for you, GW..... I remember seeing all three of my children for the first time - nothing can replace the joy or feeling
up6= up + "ripped" (to4)
Ok - got the ta's. Even knew the word! Thank you. Finally some points! Now can we try the ca's again in 2nd grade english please.
up6 = up + ripped/shredded.
Thank you! Temple -- the ta5 -- when you are late for class you are marked ta5
ty gw - i have that one - isn't there another?
Jeeze, been so busy nattering I forgot I still have 9 words to find!
okay, one of the ca7/ca8's is a variation on the big kettle in which a witch brews something. Oooh, it's not rhyming, like I was doing before, but it's still pretty cool! :)
ta5 - pl of ta4 meaning speak. ta5 - cards to tell your future with.
ca8 -- automobile + abominable snowman (change the E to an A + D
ro 6/24 & 7/36???
sorry TEmple -- tracking multiple threads and still hunting myself ;)
You'll be in the doldrums if you don't find the ca 8/50's. Lol. It rhymes.
EUREKA! Thank you!
ro6/24 - fat. ro6/24 - pl of ro5 meaning circular.
the other ca7/8 combo is hotly debated... brandyjack said it was the name of an old Amer. ciggie, and the def. is a dark tobacco.... but think about a French Radar O'Reilly from MASH (that was another def I saw)
ro7/36 - add a vowel to end of the ro6 meaning fat. The part of the capitol ro7 has a domed roof, dead people lie in state there.
His rank, I mean....
ro7/36 - a round building. Look up Birmingham, West Midlands, UK. \You'll probably find the answer there somewhere.
Thanks Charm! Do you have the ro 7/36 too?
Thanks Jac! After reading your clue, I remember there is a medical building here that is called that!!
Jen - how about one of those good clues for the Ca8 - 9 combo? Please :)
Okay the Super Spies show is over.... now what do I watch before I collapse in exhaustion?
why isn't duno a word??? Like when I ask for a clue and you don't have it - you say "I duno what it is!"
ca8/60 - let's try another way of clueing that.... first three letters - a thing on 4 wheels that you drive + a sailing boat ('ya' minus the 'ch' + what you need these days for saying who you are, your ** (think driving licence, passport etc.)
Dianne -- my clue at 10:11 didn't work for you?
For the ca9/78 just add the usual letter to pluralise it.
Dianne, google "A supporting column sculptured in the form of a draped female figure" and it's plural.
Jac - Ripping clue! Thanks! Now, just 5 more 8's . . . Hey all!!!
I like your icon, Jac!!! He's puuuurrrrrrrty
hey hey torg!!!!!!!
Hey torgone!!!!! :)
cheers!!!! Torgone!
Thanks jac - I spelled it wrong about 2 hrs ago!
Hey torg!! -- How's tricks?
hi tor!
I'm completely lost on the icon theme . . .
Jacula - awesome clue for the ca 8/9 combo!!! Hello again everyone!!
icon theme is safari...
Hi Tor - today's theme was 'Let's alll go on safari!'
14 words to go...
Hi EB!!!!!!
Jac, Jen & GW - thanks for all the hand holding on the Ca8 & 9. That's one I'll have to remember.
Sunday's theme (which it really should be for me now) is Stars and Planets for Atalante.
I am blind tonight -- to5/12?
hi eb!!!!!
((**EB**))
to5/12 - 1000 pounds + shortened 1st name of former princess of wales.
dont have it GW.... sorry :( first la 6/21 & 7/32?
mistress - you are our shining star!!!!!
to5/12 is pl of: A round painting, relief, or similar work of art.
la6/21 = young boy + director/former child actor (Andy Griffth show) *** Howard. la7 is pl.
la6/7: Scottish word for boy + Harry Potter's best friend (and the pl)
Thanks Jen!
YW, GW! Don't know what clues I'm giving to whom at this point, but happy to help as I can't seem to get to sleep!
i have the ro5/14 that is a circle and its plural - missing the other ro5 and its plural
Wonder ful! Great clues! Keep with those 30-40 pt words and I'll pass 2000!
ro5 - king, queen, prince, princess are part of the ro5 family. ro6 is pl.
LOL, Jen -- been there, done that, sold the rights and got shafted on the royalties!!! ;D
Hey 72TO! Think queen of England, then her family to make it plural.
Charm - thanks for those ro clues - can't believe |I didn't see 'em before! *Slaps self with wet fish.*
<<<GW used a part of a word>>> <<GW used a part of a word>> Sorry... that seems to be the way to alert of words in chat today. :)
Last ca6/24?
YW Jac - no wet fish here, marinated & grilled salmon only.
ROFL!!
thanks charm, jen...i think i used up all my brainpower on my midterm today!
Hoot - the ca6/24 has to do with the heart. Think ca**** arrest but take off the final 'c'.
ca6/24 - when you have a heart attack you go into ca***** arrest - drop the final c.
ca6/24: "The opening of the esophagus into the stomach" but I have heard it on medical show with something like tachi-ca...
la6/27, pa6/21 & 30 and I'll be over 2000! Please.
Charm - Snap!
Here we go.... Don't know if you can see it, but it's Jungle Larry's old lady, Safari Jane holding a macaw or something . ..
pa6: when you when the lottery or a racing bet, you get a pa...
la6/27 is a printing/advertising term - how you place items on a page.
pa6/21 is pl of pa5 meaning "In quantitative verse, a foot of one long syllable and three short syllables occurring in any order."
Not gonna finish tonite.... thanks for all the clues everyone!!! good nite!!! Don't have too much fun without me, now, ya hear????
Bye, Mama -- Sleep Well, Dream Deep!! (*BIG HUG*)
Got it Charm - 18 to go! Thanks
'nite mama! Sleep tight, etc!
'nite, MamaB.
We won't, Mama! Niters!
Night mama
Night Mamabear... Sweet Dreams!!
last pu5 & 6 combo?
goodnight, mamabear!
Just finished! Weird thing was, stats told me I still needed 2 ya words that had already been entered and ticked off! Just re-entered them and now have the sweet song 'You have 0 words to find'.
pu5/14 - pretend, feign. Think of a kind of japanese fold-out sofa and change the f to p.
That does it! 2017 Now I relax!!! Thank you everyone!
Hoo-ray Jacula!!!!!
Thanks Charm!!
Getting hungry!
yay jacs!
Fancy a fluffy mushroom omelette, Hoot?
Okay, my late nights of distress are finally kicking in, so I am off to bed, have a great night everyone!!!
I've got chilli or sauce -- take your pick, hoot!
Granted it is just doctored jar sauce, but hey it's food :)
Now I've done all my words, I can afford the luxury of looking through my other safari pics for you all to see.
Night Jen...
Goodnight, Jen. Sleep well and deeply.
Sweet dreams, Jen!
G'Nite Jen -- Sleep Well, Dream Deep -- And thanks again :) (*HUG*)
night, jen!
I entered about 100 words one after the other last night. I found it hadn't taken a bunch of words I had already entered. Think it can't handle alot all at once.
REFRESH for new icon. Anyone want an ostrich feather?
It's a common complaint, hoot
You know better than that woulf. Did you get my e-mail?
Well nice to know it wasn't just me. Thought I'd made a mistake. Thanks
Any particular one? Got a bunch :)
Jac -- where was this Safari that you went on?
The one I sent yesterday about staying here.
I may have discovered the answer to one of the mysteries of the untaken words that have already been entered earlier. I accidentally pressed the green 'back' arrow and it took me back to a word I'd entered about 10 words previously. Then I appeared to have lost all my words, which had my other half laughing most unlovingly I must say, then my word list came back but without the word upon which the grid landed after I'd pressed the green 'back' arrow. However, all words entered after it were still there.
I have four left I just can't find. Can I have a clue for da 6 24 and dr 8 50 please...
not yet -- will check in a few :)
I didn't back arrow so maybe there are a bunch of things that cause it. Just entered them one by one
Wolfie - West Midlands Safari Park on a good day.
SueL - Google 'thorn apple' for the da6/24 if you're not a gardener.
SueL - likewise dr8/50 - Cordyline.
un4/1 and 5/1 - may i have some help please?
Okay, you lot! Where are all the entries on BabAnon for the Babble Parody songs? Only my Paul has entered one so far!
Just saw it! Rather have them stuffed jac :)
my system has been slow/wacky all night - seeing pages of multiple messages..that's why I haven't been chatting as much (you know me - I LOVE to chat!!)... it's been drivin' me buggy....
Dune buggy?
Temple - Un5/20 - to take out the stitches.
I am still working on mine, Jac :) -- found out after the events that spawned your thread... besides, I've been sick
un4/8 (1st un4) - sounds like bra or pants but with a sometimes vowel at the end instead of the 'for example' vowels.
With that in mind (wacky system...)...I will bid you all Goodnight (or good morning depending upon which side of the pond you're on!!)... See you all for Stars & Planets!! Nightie Nite!!
Tor - it definitely wasn't Speed Buggy!! (tho' I liked that cartoon!!)
ok - what parodies?....what did i miss??/what????
Wolfie - Can you provide a note from your Mother to confirm you were too sick to work on a parody song??
Nitey-nite EB!
night eb...8)
So long, EB -- hope you get the wackiness resolved soon! (*Hug*)
Thank you Jacula, I just am not finding them I guess I need the fish tonight.
Ren - go to Babble - Other Interests. The thread is there. So will be the Babblers' on spec ideas from 16th Jan chat log shortly!
i just did mistress!!!!ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !1
Jac -- no, but Kirsten had the same virus and can get a note from her doctor :) --- We are both MUCH better now, but it was particularly unpleasant Thursday night
SueL - The fish will be helpful.... DA + the 4 letter fish that you make sandwiches with - just change the third letter of this word - hope this helps.
Wolfie - Nope, that won't do. Need a letter from your mother, otherwise it will be 20 lashes with a wet whale! Sorry to say we do have one here in UK, in the Thames. Seriously, was just looking for alliterative words there and I was very sorry about the whale dying. Not sure if it was a youngster who got carried away hunting and then got in to serious trouble or a youngster who was ill anyway and tried to go off somewhere private to die. Do know that his Mom was lurking around Southend.
Thank you Dianne. The fish worked.
Where in Google. What I'm finding is not helping. And I know the plant.
Hey! I'm approx 1000mi away. What good would my note do?
I still need dr 8 50, cr 6 27 and tu 6 24. Can I have some clues please... I will be done if I can get them,
tu 6/24 snowy wasteland
The tu is a Toyota!
hoot dr = dr+ Air Cooler unit abbreviation + 1st & 2nd vowel + n + 1st vowel
Truck
cr 6/27 = you color w/ these
di6/24?
Wow! Now we're doing rebuses or sumpin...
di 6/24 = di + 5th vowel + r+ opposite of off
Good try ren but I haven't seen an A/C unit in years! Who remembers?
I have that cr 27. I need the last one please...
Sue - add an E to the 5
Hoot -- AC
ok hoot - use the dr + the letters i capitalized in Air Cooler + 1st & 2nd vowels + n + 1st vowel
Hoot & Wolfie - the Jobsworths these days insist on a note from the parent. LOL.
What if they're dead?
THAT worked ren - Thanks
That's what I always used to say, Hoot.
cr 7 = rump muscles.... the part of a quadruped that corresponds to the human buttocks
Makes as much sense as giving your mothers maiden name on varios & sundry items.
Renfield, Pinecone and GreyWoulf and Dianne thank you all for the clues. I am finally done.
mistress - i'm working on my parody...greg kihn's break-up song
Yayyyy for Suel!!!
Then, when your kids start college or Uni., they're expected to have both parents fill in their forms re financial stuff. 'What if one or both parents are dead/have run off/ etc, I asked? 'Don't be stupid!' I was told by form filler-outer. 'Just sign it!' Erm... Lol.
way to go suel!!!!!!!!!1
*~*~*~*FIREWORKS FOR SUEL*~*~*~*
There are new definitions of stupid invented every day.
If you are not all done can I try to help with a few clues?
ad6?
Thats another one I couldn't spell right! Must remember to drink AFTER I finish!
I'm done, thanks SueL. (Sorry, keep trying to type Sue Ellen there. It's my age. Forgive me! I never watched to programme anyway!) Don't know if others still nedd clues though.
I got the cr5 & 6 "hindquarters" but can't wring a cr7 out of it . . .

ad+ not to stand but to --- ( leave off the s)
oh duh sorry torg...cr 7 is the color thingies plural
4/5 - can't type either!
Thanks hoot -- got it anyway!! Done!!!
ad 6 = ad + opposite of verb (no 4)
Oh, thanks ren. I had that one. . .
sorry wrong word. Not too good at this.
way to go wolfie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gongratatats GW!!!
Congrads GreyWoulf!
That's OK, Sue -- If I had a buck for the number of times I clue the wrong word... ;D
Done? And I helped you! Have to be more careful about that.....
Tor - what are you still looking for?
WHAT were those ae words?????
hint for the en6 please?
About 79 words, Dianne!
ae -- greek spelling for millenium and the plural thereof
4th ra4/5 with en in front
ae + if you are not off of something you are .. it
I tried that and it wouldn't take it!
Tor - stop posting and start typing. Just kidding. Anything special I can help with?
hey - i forgot to tell you guys that my biopsies were benign...8D
NOW it took them! Have to quadruple check from now on.
WELL DONE WOLFIE!
Ren - so glad. (((HUGS))))xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
hint for the en6 please?
Une - en + ra4/5 but change the last letter.
thanks mistress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Didn't know ren but definitely good news.
Thank God (or the deity of your choice) ren!!!!
en6 -- en + ra4/5 ( the one that sounds like you finished preparing a present)
en6/21 - filled with delight. Might sound like what you've done to a gift for someone.
thanks!
I didn't change the last letter and it worked. This thing is totally screwed up!
Ren - do any 'removals' need to be done anyway?
Running out of steam, Dianne . . . . Not too worried about getting more words . ..
Now I'm wondering what else it may or may not have taken.
good night all and thank you again. I'm very happy for you Ren.
hey, everyone...
no mistress - i currently have 2 holes in my back and 1 on my wrist that look like i've been shot w/a 22 and i'll need to have some plastic surgery.... but thats ok....8)
