Okay, new puzzle, new day. How many minutes does it take to type in 241 words?
That sounds like the DANG IT of someone who almost finished a grid?
AAAAAaooooOOOWWWWWw!! Woof!!

Yes, Griff, I missed ONE STINKING WORD But, I'm over it, okay? <taking a deep breath>

mistress - i need to reload my xp on this note book and get my msn instant msg working again...sorry....i've been loading some new phtoshop software
gotoyourhappyplacegotoyourhapp yplace
302!! -- OK -- normally I would stick around to work on the grid --but I made a promise to myself after the 474 to not go through that again -- 'sides I have prep to do and no time to do it -- will probably be in later to chat, but not to seriously hunt
slow down jb...you'll start coughing again..
Thanks Griffs - <holding head in one hand whilst typing with the other> Too late, ren! I'm trying not to wake my also-suffering DH, who wisely went to bed 2 hours ago...
I didn't play the 474. I enjoyed that small burst of sanity.
m8/45
Stars and planets today, folks, which means this grid is out in space!
So I am going to call it an early night ---- "It's an Early Night!" ---and go to bed in hopes of getting things done tomorrow (*HUGS to all*) (*Extra for hoot, ren, JB and Jac*) G'Nite all!!
hey torgone, long time no see
Good night, and good luck gw
Read the e-mail!
(((huggies wolfie)))
Can anyone tell me what the theme is today>
Night woulfie
BJ's stats are up and I'm gonna need 'em
(I think now that gw's gone, his mom should tell us some fun facts....)
NIGHT, GW {{hugs}}, hope you get everything done. Stars and planets today, I'm changing my icon, so refresh in a minute.
I can't do that...he learned it all from me!
So, does mine count? He's a "star?"
:)))) Okay, well tell us embarrassing things about YOU but just change the name! :))) You're funny!
s 7/32
Hi All!
REFRESH! (love google images...) Darleen, what star is he?
Hi, hugabug!
Wha? You don't recognize BRAD? Oh, must be all the MUSCLES! He really bulked up for Troy.
jb...cute kitkat!!!
ooooh, that niner was sweet! kaboom!
Thanks, ren! Darleen, my eyes are all fuzzy from typing in all the words EXCEPT FOR ONE ra 4/5 (deep breath, happy place, deep breath, happy place - it's working, Griffs!) or from the Nyquil, or both. Brad, ooohhh. Hmm, mushcles!
well??? How's about a first letter? points? Don't hold out on us!
I think debs already said it but it's de 8/45 and de 9/60
JBs you're too tough for me! I gave up and went and played computer games. So now I'll try this one for a bit.
Brad could take me to the happy place just sayin
oh well, of COURSE Debs woulda got it first ....
Yeah Griffums, you, me Angie... whoohoo.
lol@darleen.... Evening :)
:waves: at Debs... hullo dere!
Have to go for a while. Try to get back on later but if not, have a great night.

What part of USA you in Darleen?
Wyoming. Wild and wooly... :-)
Debs .. where are you? We have good friends in Stoke-on-Trent.
well duh I coulda looked at your profile before I asked. tsk.
I'm in Norfolk..
t 7/32
Good Evening/Morning, everyone -- what's the verdict?
nan .. run away VERY fast.
hi nan, it's gonna be a toughie I think
You ever been to UK?
don't get dragged in with the rest of us ... [circling the drain as I type]
Okay, I see where I went wrong on yesterday's puzzle. This is my last [pick one]: (whine) (lament) (pity party) message about that so aaarrrggghhh for yesterday's puzzle, and there <dusting hands> I'm over it! Thanks for your support!!!!
u8/50
Debs, yes, once a VERY long time ago. 1981? '82? I forget it was so long. LOVED it, absolutely LOVED it. Want to come back for another visit.
AHA! I shoulda know it was a ploy so you could find more big words while I was distracted!!! So, Debs, [attempting the same thing] you ever been to the States?
Too late! -- I have 16 words entered.
oooh no! Poor Nan, drowning with the rest of us.
Got my printouts for tomorrow, I'll check in later during the football games. Go Steelers! Um, (in case JoJo is watching) go Seahawks!
lol.. Yes been to Disney World Florida .. Pompano Beach .. Chicago only for a couple of days and Burr Oak in MI
Good night! May you all achieve peace, harmony, and 302 words.
bye JB
Did you enjoy DisneyWorld? It's our most fave vacation spot. Chicago..ugh. UGH. Well, I live in the least populous state in the Union (and that's counting deer and antelope!) so what would you expect?
I thought Disney was the most magical place on earth... loved it didn't want to leave...
Ah yes, Debs, us too. It's like a whole other planet. WE need to go back... been 10 years since the last trip.
I went there in 87 Cinderellas castle was done up like a big cake
Oh I remember that! Boy, time for you to make another pilgrimage as well, eh?
I went in '79 before Cinderella existed Stone Age Griff
I'd love to... I keep looking at brochures I'll let you know if I make it over.. My Mums going to Canada and AMerica this year.. lucky cow...lol
whut? 1879? Or are you referring to the CASTLE? bwahahahaha. cough cough. Man I need to go to bed
DEBS! Is that anyway to talk about yer Mum?
No, just it's been a loooooong time. The Pirates of the Caribbean were real pirates.
Yeah... but I love her really.... I was going to call her a dragon till I read your profile.. Eats fire!!!!
Well Griffums, I'm a stone ager too. My first trip to DW was in, lessee. 1977?
Debs? You Mom eats FIRE? WOW!
The ghosts in the haunted mansion weren't even dead people yet. (It wa a boring ride.) okay back to grid
Oh sorry thought yours said you did... just read it again.. Plays with fire!!!......LOL
oooh nice 8/45! *Spanish air guitar*
(oops that should have been a C 8/45)
Griffums, sounds like our last trip. The pirates were on vacation that time. LOL Debs. Yeah, I make glass beads with a gas/oxy torch. HOT stuff. Esp when you drop it in your lap or grab a hot mandrel. eeeeyow. Babble is safer but less productive.
Grabbing a hot mandrel doesn't sound so bad (is that what the kids are calling it these days?)
a8/40 .... I'll have a look at your website later...
hahaha. Um, no. Mandrel as in steel rod (tiny steel rod) and if it's been in the kiln any length of time is about 950 degrees. I think I like your interpretation better.
did you say steel rod?
lol
badda bing. why yes, I did. [bats eyelashes coyly]
Hot mandrels and steel rods You learn a lot in babble I'm kinda thirsty
As long as you don't need a cigarette...
mi 8/45 STUPIDHEAD WORD ALERT
(course I was stupid enough to try it so...)
d 8 and d 9 60 Go Steelers!
well all been fun. need sleep now. later...
Well, with 100 down I'm going to have to call it a night for now and come back later - have some projects I have to finish. Don't touch any hot mandrels.
Cya Darleen... Sweet dreams.. I hope you don't dream about heating the rod in your sleep!... Hubby must have night sweats!....lol

Morning dear gang! :)
Hi Sprite!
Sweet grid this is... and big ;)
All biggies already accounted for, probably... I just found O7/32, but that won't be news ;)
It's news to me, Sprite.
Always feel like that when I get on later, that I'd better keep still about any finds, because they will be old news by then :)
Just went looking for it and found an o 7/36 instead!
:D *and hunting she gooooooooooes*
also an o 8/55 -- all starting with the same three letter -- some 5's and 6's too.
LOL... can't find them at all. Probably they don't start with the same three letters as my O7. Or they do and I am having a blind spot the size of the grid today. Have to go get my daughter some breakfast, back in a bit.
hi everyone!
Hi Sam... It's 11:38 pm here -- I'm all most 2/3 of the way to the finish, so I'm off to my bed. See you in the morning :)
bye!
does anyone have a clue for the de9
yes...think about a bomb and what it does
thanks got it!
breakfast at last! see ya soon!
112 words on first pass...
Sounds about right, a little under half :) And now for the rest of those little, nasty, hiding others.
morning sprite and Angel, and anyone else out there :) ...a biggie today...
At least they have given us a big one on the weekend where some of us have a little more free time.
Hi sherb! Yes it is, and I have already seen a good deal of fairly common biggies. Nice! Got to go, take my kid to aikido. Back later :) Good hunting to you all.
later sprite :) hi dalmatian :) ...I agree, I'd rather have the biggies at the weekend...
I love starting the big ones because you sail along so rapidly in the beginning. It's the last of the words that take most of the time.
I work backwards, letter by letter, so I only experience that feeling on a small scale...
sherb...imagine meeting you here....8)
hi ren !! :D ...it must be very last at night for you... I've just got out of bed...
*late* at night... I like you icon... is it another of your creations?
sherb - it is very late....2:30 AM...i'm reloading a program and we've been watching some really old horror movies....
trying to give yourself nightmares...?
no - i pulled it from a nasa site. i had to upgrade to paint brush pro....and haven't had a chance to use it.
trying...i already have...we both screamed...it was a dubbed italian movie (not as good as the hammer productions)
I need to get a TV in my study so I can watch movies and Babble... make my life more productive..
lol sherb...it makes babble last longer....however it has to be mindless entertainment....
definitely mindless... it's the only form I'm into...
our brains have so much information overload, total escape is an absolute...total escape w/out mind altering aids i should say...8) gob stoppers and diet cokes are ok though...
LOL ren :D ...and coffee and doughnuts...
lol - yes doughnuts!!!!! jellies....ok...now i'm hungry. we have an all night doughtnut place a few blocks from here....if i wasn't so scared - i'd go get some...
program loaded - i'm going to sleep now - later sherb
soon as I finish the T's and the S's, I'm going to get dressed and go out for breakfast... beautiful sunny day here in London... of course, the rate I'm going, I might not be eating breakfast until midday...
later ren... hope you sleep well :)
ok sherb..i still want those doughnuts.....8)
morning all! Sunday morning -mmmm, peace & quiet & babble - perfect :)
wow, i didn't mean this quiet - is anybody here?!
Hi Zoom - how are you doing on the puzzle?
hi dalmatian - ok so far -93 words at the moment, what about you?
I have about 175 and am ready to go to BJ's list.
you're doing really well dalmatian - over half way - did you get all the ca words?
Actually I have not checked any of the stats. I just start out and look for words and combos and when I get stuck then I start using the stats.
well good luck dalmatian - you'll be finished soon at this rate :)
Thanks, but I don't think so. The first half always rolls off faster than the last half!
you're right & it usually turns out to be really small words that i spend ages looking for at the end!!
Boy, I know what you are saying. The last grid I had two words left and they were both only 4 letters. I thought they did not exist but I just had words out of order and could not see them. I finally found them and could not believe they were so easy.
Mmmm, are we mad or is it just a very addictive game?! i'm looking for my last 2 ca words - any clues for ca8/45 or ca6/21?
yay, that's the ca's done :))
There are 3 different CA 6/21's and I only have one and I do not have the 8 letter Ca. I wonder ifanyone else is out there with us.
found them dalmatian - do you want clues?
Would love them thanks!
sorry - not a good clue but the ca8 means to undergo caseation.
ca6 words - one is a pl of a ca5, one's a loose shirt/tunic & one's a small house.
Wow, great clues - thanks - I got them!
good good :)
ca 6...small house?
The small house is from a Spanish word.
rolin - spanish derivative.
ty..found it..*s*
Back for more :)
hi sprite - how're things with you?
As long as I play babble, I feel fine ;) How are you, zoom?
good thanks - babble's saving my sanity at the moment - i've stopped smoking so it gives me something to do with my hands!!
Wow, great going! Hope and trust you will make it, good luck!
thank you - this is day 13 (not that i'm counting!) & apart from some family members missing the odd limb where i've torn them off, all's good so far :)
At least now I understand why 'sustain' and 'stamina' keep acting like they are in the grid :D :D
lol sprite!
O that is great, zoom. Day 13 already, that means your body is already there, even if your mind still knows the habit. Never mind those limbs, they'll grow back eventually ;)
i'm stuck on en6/21 - clues please anyone?
thanks sprite, i might have to add you to my support network - that's just the sort of thing i need to hear right now :))
Any time, zoom, you have my full support! Sorry, can't help with the en6 yet, though. Am looking for it now.
En plus one of your so 4/4 words.
thanks dalmatian - i have a distinct lack of so words, lol! off to look for some!
Don't have it yet either. Tried all my so4s, and they won't do it ;)
thanks dalmatian, found it. sprite - bottom left corner.
Hi folks, so4 think about what's in Heaven
Ah.... right, I WAS being blind. Thanks!
hi ferrari
Hi Zoom, it's difficult giving up, I had a stitch in my ear 22 years ago,it worked a charm, good luck with it
a stitch in your ear, ferrari??
My love quitted smoking about 10 years ago, a friend of mine 2 years back, and they are both still going strong. It can be done!
it's on an acupuncture point and you twiddle it when you want a fag
oh i see....yes i tried that some years ago & it was quite effective for a while. at the end of the day & whatever you use to help, you have to want to stop enough, i think.
That's so true. Both my husband and my friend tried a million different ways to quit and they didn't. And then one day they decided that they really wanted to stop and they did, and had a tough time, but they pulled through without aids and managed it. I admire you, zoom. You will succeed! :)
time for a break - something healthy like water & carrot sticks of course!! thanks sprite & ferrari :))
Bye zoom, my thoughts go with you :)
the idea behind the stitch is thatyou become a non smoker almost immediately and then you just have to get over the chemical addiction, every smoker is ambivalent about giving up, the stitch seems to work even if you don't really want to. The guy has a 90 percent success rate!
hi, back again, how's everyone doing?
it's very quiet zoom
I am going slowly. 2/3 now found and feeling like there can't be more than 20 or 30 more words left. Somehow this is not an easy grid for me.
Know what you mean sprite, I've 115 to go but I haven't used any help yet
i'm up to 169 now - can't believe there's nearly the same again left to find. any clues for li6/18 & li7/28 please?
Same here, about a third left to go and seriously considering opening the stats panel or even reverting to A2Z, cause I am really stuck. Well, we know that feeling... it will pass, lol.
zoom: hear and hear well!
Zoom- What you are doing is one of the bravest and hardest things to do and you have all of my best wishes! I quit about 25 years ago and thought I was losing my best friend....had to keep reminding myself that this was junky thinking, and that any reason I could come up with for having "just one" ( a deep loss, a particularily stressful situation) could easily justify having millions. It seems to me, from watching friends over the years quit, that the ones who found it pretty easy to quit alsom ended up going back to it because they somehow hadn't really confronted just how addicted they were. So the suffering is a good thing(-: Just hang in there and let us know if there is anything you need. If you've done 13 days you can do it forever!!!!!
the az word, wash you mouth out sprite!, LOL
havent got those yet zoom
anyone have any clues for the big o's (no not the one from when Harry met Sally), the a8 and the mi8?
LOL ferrari! I do use A2Z sometimes, but only for the last 2 or 3 that I can't really find without aid. So... not yet! I have this trick: browse away from the babble page, do something else and then come back as if I have never seen the grid before. Usually helps ;)
I keep seeing te**ily mewing c**s
thanks eva, it's really helpful to hear things like that, i'm loving it at home today because my partner & son who both smoke (altho not in the house) are out - hate to say it but it's much easier when they're not around at the moment - that's not meant to be as terrible as it sounds!!
wearing jeans
Just plain common sense, zoom, of course it is easier when they don't confront you with exactly the thing you are trying to quit! Oooooops ferrari... :)
wot u have to do here just guess the words does everybody get the same board
sprite - these pesky li words, i think i have the 2 you gave clues for, do you have another li6/18 & 7/28?
that j word isn't there sprite, I know it is without the last letter but what I said would have m*** even less sense
I'ts not a terrible thing to say at all! Hopefully you will act as a prod/inspiration to them. How incredibly hard to do this with smokers in the house. What about a house rule that they can't actually smoke inside the house? Our premises are entirely non-smoking, and I don't feel at all sorry for my smoking acquaintances (fewer and fewer) who have to step outside in%2
Any chance that they would abide by making the house a non-smoking area? What you are doing is such a gift for all of you....if anyone has to move in anyone else's direction, it should be them moving towards you!
Sorry for the repeat-the board is doing weird things again....half boards, hanging up and then suddenly responding again, so I thought the first message had been lost in space.
LOL ferrari... you are right :) Zoom: sorry, only have that 6-6-7 combo so far.
oh yes eva, they're pretty good & don't smoke in the house, it's just knowing that the dreaded weed is accessible !!
michaela: on the top right you will find the link to the Babble rules, they should give you information on how to play here. We all have the same grid. For clues read the log or check out Babblers Anonymous (last link under Friends of Babble). Good luck playing!
My husband always tells smokers about the guaranteed 10 day quit smoking plan-cut one finger off each day. But when I was a smoker I probably would have used my toes.
ROFLOL Eva!
lol eva.
zoom: got them! They only differ from the other set by the 6th letter.
eva the big o's are add ons to not in??
thank you sprite - i'm struggling with those - must be too much oxygen getting to my brain, lol!
Gheghe, that's probably it. One set has to do with "hark, ye babbler!" The other with a long series of names, and the words you are looking for are the people in that series of names.
brilliant sprite - found them at last, thanks!!
:D
mi7, mi8, to sing badly
Ah, great, thanks!
I've got the ou8
I just found the big As, rare blue or light yellow to brown crystalline mineral, the rarest of three forms of titanium dioxide, TiO2, used as a pigment, especially in paint. (+ pl.) Somehow they sound to me like what they call it when cancer appears in other areas of a body than where it originally was, but they have nothing to do with that, apparently.
thanks sprite
Mi8/55: did wrong.
Mi8/45: food that went wrong
food that went wrong sprite?
If some wild animal ate you, you would be E5. If that went wrong, you would be Mi8.
heaven forbid sprite
thanks agaain sprite. i had that as an mi6 but couldn't see the extension - doh!
LOL Okay... not you of course! Someone else... someone not babbling... someone like my boss ;)
got all the o's at last
I am one O short, but getting there. 36 left to find and absolutely no idea where they can be hiding. *opens stats panel*
had to give in sooner than you sprite
Somehow this is a tough grid! Found the missing O. It really helps if you know which tile to start from...
it doesn't flow, there's dead ends all over the place
I keep trying to get an N and a T to be neighbours. Could make about a million words if they were next to each other, lol.
and an e next to the m
Exactly so!
Oh help, there is ANOTHER J. Already found more of them than I thought I knew. Well. Here we go ;)
flotsam
Nope, must be a J4. It's my last :( Can't see it for the life of me. *goes monkeytyping like mad* My love, my daughter and me go swimming soon, so I must find that last one fast!
sprite there are 3 names
time for another break, 70 words to go, enjoy your swim sprite :)
see ya zoom, sit on your hands
for sure ferrari :))
Hang in there, zoom, you will be fine :D Okay, found it, thanks ferrari. My missing one was apparently a past time of an expletive. Never thought of that. Monkeytyping is a great thing :) We have 302 words / 5.07 average / 4295 points today. Nice grid, though not easy. One of my toughest combo's: U5/6, widely distributed lichens usually having a grayish or yellow pendulous freely branched thallus. Thanks for the great company and have a nice day :)
hi all : )
congrats sprite, that us6 took me ages cos I couldnt see how it pluralised! Thanks for the company too, have a good swim
Hi Babbler
hi Ferrari : ) How are you? I'm hoping to be finished before Smallville. What are my chances, do you think? Tough grid?
It doesn't flow today, and I'm fine thanks, you?
ok, thanks...... though my throat feels a bit funny. I had the sniffles yesterday. It's getting colder, isn't it? Gonna nip out and get the papers in a sec..... and a chocolate muffin! heh heh! : )
Good morning.
morning, harp : )
morning harp
how come jane jess and jean are allowed but not janet
Please don't post actual words in the log. Thank you.
please no words, it spoils it for others
just asking
hee hee, can't use my name in the log today.....
well ask more with more subtlety
thanks for the slapped wrist but still want to know answer to question
email Dr God, very strange things happen in Babbleland
the two je's have other meanings apart from names. Ja is probably the same. Anyone have any clues for the c's. I'm monkey typing like mad ans only have half of them
Tandy, sometimes there seems to be no rhyme or reason. turns out texas is a proper noun but also a word when spelled with a small t.
Very often words have more than one meaning. Two of the words questioned are actually a type of cloth, one is a coin and one is a strap used around a hawks leg. You can always click on the question mark next to the word and see what it means and why it is more than a proper name. Hope that clarifies.
268 words to go, I'm off to church and then a whole day of skiing. I'm going to be frantic tonight about 9:30 when I come back....
have a good day harp, sounds fun
have a lovely day, harp : )
A quick look in and i`m backing out straight away!!! It`s too long....Sunday dinner to cook and uniforms to iron!!! May have to play Buzz on the playstation instead :)
Morning all! I'm soooo proud of myself. I actually found a word that is a word that's not listed. It's another us 6/21. Anyone else come across that?
Hi all - dropping in a for a quick hello... Lotti - didn't see you yesterday so I thought I'd give you a glance at the giraffe!!
It's a biggie today...not sure if I'll dive into this one...lots to do & yesterday's wore me out!! Catch you later!!
hi all, back again with 60 seemingly impossible words to find. how's everyone doing?
Hi Zoom, not playing today, way too man ywords. Wasx just reading the log and saw that you have given up smoking - well done!!!!!!!!!
I stopped 8 months ago. one thing I did for about the first 6 weeks or so was keep a bowl of carrot and and celery sticks on my desk where the ashtray used to be. Really helped break that "what am I supposed to dow with my hands now" habit. I was a 40+ a day smoker and you are right about what you said earlier - If you have the right mind set you will do it.
thanks fmitch, come on & play!
funny you should mention carrot sticks - i've just munched my way through a pile of them & they do help, lol
Won't be playing today as it's way too many words, I like the grids that are max 200ish, more than that and I just don't have time to complete them. Are you UK based?
can anyone pls help me with the an7 and an8
Mmmm, wiltshire - and you?
I'm Berkshire. Sunday lunch is calling rib of beef and all the trimmings. nice chatting and maybe we should start a link on babblers anon for us now non smokers. hits and tips and screams too LOL?
sheryl, the an7 is a mineral and the 8 is its plural - start in bottom right corner.
zoom - where abouts in Wiltshire are you? I live in Devizes.
sounds good fmitch - the lunch and the link - enjoy :))
omg chris, i'm going to devizes tomorrow, all the way from trowbridge!!
catch up soon and stick with it - after 13 days you can defiantely do it zoom!!!!!
I lived in Trowbridge for quite a few years. Did all my schooling there!!
what a small world chris! i think devizes is a much nicer town.
I agree - it's got a lot of character to it and we love living there. The people are so friendly. Can't believe someone else lives so close!!
i know, how crazy is that, how're you doing with this monster grid?
Got 63 to go and starting to struggle.
i'm on 255 & just about stalled, don't seem to have found anything for ages - well only gibberish that gets an ooops!
Have to admit - I've now resorted to babblers anon to get me going again.
Hi, all , getting a late start, not sure I will finish, too much to do today but will give it a shot. What does the 9 start with please
Nevermind, 9 starts with de
ty chris finally got it
Good morning, all! Late start for me too peri. lot o'words to find
Hello, this one's too big for me today, important football to watch later so not enough time
babble's so educational. for example, "important football" is an example of an oxymoron. thank you, yoink, for providing today's lesson
You're welcome, though you're American so you are forgiven for not being able to understand
pthhhhhbbbbtttt!
I'm guessing that's a US spelling for "You're so right, you are like a god to me"
LOL! good one! BUT, you're just envious of my 17 words since you're OCD won't allow you to start the grid
speaking of BUTs, thanks for changing my poopie diaper yesterday. i was starting to chafe
earlier: your not you're
LOL, you're welcome, it's obvious there is almost no limit to the depths that I will sink to. And it's not OCD, it's just... lack of time
admit it Yoink, it's OCD... otherwise, you wouldn't mind playing without completing... :D
musta been my stinking diaper yesterday that's keeping people from chatting today. yoink, am i stinky again?
Argh, but it would be all... and ... ok, it's OCD :( Smaller, a little, but not as bad as yesterday :D
Hi Sherb!!!!! How are you? Are you done with the grid? You're always so speedy.
hi smaller !! :D ...found 41 words this morning, while chatting with ren... just returned for the other... 261...!!! ...flattered you think I'm speedy, but I think that might be just a tiny bit inaccurate...
yoink, embrace the ocd. it's your friend. your ONLY friend. so enjoy it. hehehehehehe
sherb- everso humble. do you think renny had less than 22 words. we're competing for crappiest babbler.
Smaller, I can always rely on you to make me feel better with your kind words :p
yoink... thanks for your thanks. i must admit the onus of being st. smaller does overwhelm even me
smaller - you're winning hands down... just check out the rankings... :D
sherb- LOL!!! phew! good! i've been working soooo hard at it
So how's that sainthood coming along Smaller? Is the fact that you are actually pure evil not hindering it somewhat?
can anyone help me with the as6 pls
Yoink - being a northener, you should understand that insulting people is often a sign of affection... smaller's just trying to say she like you... :D
Sheryl - sorry, give me about 6 hours and I might have reached the A's... :)
sheryl - as + 'dirt'
Sheryl - scrub that - as6 has to do with the earth... :)
Sherb, I know that really, she just has to admit it to herself! :D
Yes yoink, Sherb's right. And I'm soooo mean to her. See it's like family. Oh, I can't say the evil thing helps but it is a perk. like a 401K or dental insurance
er, what's a 401K?
and i think it's sherby that stinks, not me
That's what I was wondering too, Sherb
sherb.... oopsy, amercanism. it's a retirement plan that employees and employers contribute
not that i would need it. ...because i'm actually Prince William
i like pretending that i'm a girl. being a prince is really hard. kinda wanted to be a princess
and just to prove how slow I am, I've only found 16 S's in half an hour...
hmmm, and how long have you had these fantasies, smaller...?
Is there enough in the Babbler's anon chest to pay for some therapy for Smaller?
...and i'm "smaller" b/c at my princely height it's nice to be a smaller girl even it's only babble. living a life as prince william is not all fun and games. you know
good thought, Yoink... I'll chip in another tenner...
don't judge me, i just wanna be a princess
I think it's going to take a lot more than that Sherb...
well, his mother was tall, and she looked OK for it... kind of dwarfed her husband, though...
ok enough about my needs, you insensitive cads. i have to go watch "little einsteins" with a 2 year old in my humble castle. social event of the season. and note how YOU didn't receive an invitation bye! happy babbling!
you're right, Yoink... better make it a monthly payment plan... could need long-term therapy...
bye smaller... come back soon :D
Bye Smaller! Enjoy that, whatever it is My football is starting now too, everyone cheer on Liverpool! Bye all
as long as they're not playing Boro... hope you have a win, Yoink :D
gosh, today seems hard.
hi hurshy :) ...depends how much time you've got... :D
i've got the time, but it still appears hard. :)
hi who's the daddy
come over for a cuppa
i have to say, if this puzzle had any human influence in its design, my guess is that it was for the sake of having the word je 6/36
ok mummy see you in ten mins
and the devil is in here...
but not admittable. i must say i don't see why edam (cheese) can't count. if cheddar appeared i bet it would, and i'm sure we have had brie.
also, liase.
...liaise?
how right you are, sherb. silly me.
how many words today please?
302 - and hey, there's a new sleep medication in here too.
well, i've found 160 and i think it's time i started using the list, i'm slowing way down.
Thank you, keep on babbling...
Hi all, just 25 s's to go and I'll be done. The mi's, un's and ou's are really hard!
way to be encouraging, trotters. :)
hi Trotters :) ...long time no see...
Hi sherb, I've been around just never have enough time to both chat and babble during the week.
ive only got 29 need serious help lmao
I know what you mean... weekday evenings are too short for me...
michaela - have you tried the second letter list at Babblers Anon? ...link on the right of the screen, go to General, then Stats... and you can also search for words at a2zwordfinder.com, or morewords.com... :)
my word of the day is the st8/55 - that's how I'll be celebrating in the jacuzzi when I finish... :D
thanks for that one sherb
Haven't got that one yet Sherb. I like the first mi7/36, story of my life. lol
i dont get how to use it lol
an hour and a half to do the S's... time for a break...
I've just got 10 left to go, Sherb. Enjoy your break.
sorry to be a bugger, but i cant see no link for the two word list
Under friends of babble, michaela, babblers anonymous
and then it's the first post under general.
Hi all! : ) michaela, click on the babblers anon (top right hand of screen) and go to general. It's the first listed topic there : )
sorry michaela - you're not a bugger - usually we're much more helpful than this but i guess not many of us are on today and we're all kind of focussed on this big grid.
sherb st8 - great word, goes well with mi6 as in wine glass
see there's lola, she's friendly. :)
Hi hurshy! You being nice to the newbies?? : )
yeah i see bout dont understand all this mi 6 stuff etc
not nice enough i'm afraid - i am selfishly focussed on looking for words
mi 6/24 for instance, means a word that starts with mi, is 6 letters long, and worth 24 points.
Aw hurshy, I don't blame you...it's a b*gger today! : )
but the points are like this: for 4 letter words, just count 'em straight, but for 5's you double them, for 6's you triple them, and so on
i'm trying to redeem myself now lola :)
To get the points, you add up the numbers at the bottom of the tiles and then mulitply them by a number which you get by subtracting 3 from the length of the word. For a seven letter word, the multiplier is 4.
Very good hurshy! : ) *lola leans over and places noddy badge on hurshy's lapel*
Hi brandyjack : )
Hi Lola, Hurshy.
hey brandy. lola - is noddy a britishism i don't know?
hurshy, lol! Yes, it's actually something we say in SA, not sure if the brits say it too. You get a 'noddy badge' whenever you do something good. Tongue in cheek saying. : )
like because you can give someone a nod if they do something good? does it come from that? and oh, what planet have you got there?
and thank you for the noddy badge, btw. :)
No, Noddy is a children's character created by Enid Blyton and beloved of all children except, obviously, American ones. Seems you got Sesame Street instead : )
well i got 39 now but still none the wiser on the 2 letter word thing lmao, need it explaining easier lol
I've finished!! 302 words. Only started at lunchtime, what a drag, almost lost the will to live but never give up. Can I have a noddy badge please?
No idea on the planet....was attracted by the purdy colours ; )
this is why i love babble - i learn so much about world culture.
well i guess there are other reasons too. :)
michaela, the word SONS (which cannot be made today) would be an so4/4. It begins SO, has four letters and each of those letters is worth one point giving the word a total of four points. Does that help? : )
Woo! Well done trotters! *lola gives trotters a noddy badge*
Ouch, you stuck the pin in my skin!
how funny, sherb pointed out earlier that satan is in the puzzle, and i just noticed that jesus is too. apparently today's puzzle is symbolic of the struggle between good and evil?
Hurshy, refresh to see Noddy! : ) Oops, sorry trotters! : /
i like him already lola :)
Of course you do hurshy, he's Noddy! *sings* Oooooooh, I'm a little noddy man, I always nod my head!
you playing today lola, or just chatting?
I'm playing hurshy. Well, I call it playing but it is a sad thing to watch me right now : /
i'm feeling like a total genius right now for finding the ly's
I have just been in mortal combat with the ca's...I won in the end though! ; )
shouldn't have said that. i've angered the babble gods (translation, i'm doing the mi's)
way to go, lola!
hurshy, I've found the best way to appease them is to sacrifice a chocolate biscuit : )
Good morning everyone -- I've just downloaded the stats and I see that the a's are still with us! Any clues for the an 7 & 8 combo?
hmmm...would oatmeal work do you think?
ruthy are u there?
an7 - sort of like the name of that russian princess who everyone pretends to think survived the revolution, except without the s and change the ending
hello lola, brandy jack, hurshy, sherb, nan, trotter! (well done!), sha, michaela...hope i havenot missed anyone!
Hi cyber : ) hurshy, it's worth a try : )
hey temple!
Hi temple! : )
they should call this baffled not babble lmao
woohoo, done with those mi's. the oatmeal must have been satisfactory.
How many letters of Princess A's name are used (not counting the s)?
Go hurshy! : ) Still battling, michaela? : )
cnan - 6 of em. and it's the first s i wanted you to remove, the latter one stays. but instead of ending with 2 vowels it ends with just one, a different one.
yup sure am u can play a multiplayer game like this called tangleword, dont know if anybody as heard of it or not
ello sha
cyber, try this: first three letters sound like a girls name, next four letters are almost the same as your last ta4/4, just change the last letter from a consonant to a vowel : )
yup, have heard of tangleword but it's blocked here. sometimes the single words are the hardest - anyone have a clue for the na?
hello, ruthy...hurshy can you elaborate a bit an the an7 clue please?
michaela, sounds like fun...where can we find it? : )
Got them, Hurshy -- thank you.
www.playsite.com also there is a good game u lot might like wordsteal multiplayer at www.markbyers.com u should all try that out, most peeps go in moderated room 2
temple, if you put together my 11:36 with my 11:43, hopefully that will do it. otherwise i'll have to try a whole different angle.
ty for an7& 8 : )
nvm, got my na.
Is everyone here working backwards through the list?
no cnan, i'm going forwards.
Thanks michaela, will look into those when I finish today : )
i'm just done through the n's and have 49 to go.
je6/36?
cyber, I've got five left to find and they are scattered through the list! : )
7 and eight letter word in there are u lot u having me on
je 6/36 - past tense of je4 je 6/36 (my fave word today) flotsam and ....
temple...je6/36...debris on the water
no michaela, they really are there.
hmmmmmmmm having trouble finding 4 letter ones lol
*whispers* Shalll we tell michaela about the nine letter word?? ; )
ty ouwachite... the li's are not my friends... : (
Michaela, my stats lists are accurate. Haven't found any of the 7-8-9 letter words myself yet.... Other puzzles have had 11 letter words....
i got 47 now another 203 to go ohhhhhhhhh my lordy lol :-(
sometimes the longer ones are easier than the short ones! there are a ton of 4 letter words we've never heard of, but a lot of the long ones are words we actually know, they just have prefixes and suffixes and stuff.
the ou's are the biggest nightmare so far in my opinion.
Help!!! -- been monkey typing for ages and can't find any of the ca biggies!
Did get the spanish rhythm instrument, but nothing else over a 5 other than the plurals.
ca 7/8 combo - brief**** plus past tense of eat the lone ca8 is a musical instrument
cyber : do you knw the spanish word for shirt or blouse? if so, change the ending & pl
any clues on the li6/18 and li7/28...I have the set that has to do with my hearing...cant figure out the other set...helpppp
o'chita - person who is li 6/21, and pl
ouwa - look to the li6 with the ed ending...if you are not the li**er you are the li****
ouwachita, change the last consonant of the hearing ones to a vowel and pluralise : )
Yoo-hoo! : ) Ca6/7 combo - brief.... with MI in the middle, then plural...
i did not get the 5/10 10 below that mess and i found only one of the 4's below it : (
got them...thanks everyone...DONE...anyone want a clue before I leave?
hi anj! you were in yesterday's mess of a grid!
am up to 60 now
Any clues for de6/21? I have the one that means to contribute money
whoops today's - that's what i get for being up for the flip!
Hi T-Owl - i'm in today's as well : ) I'm not a word though... : /
de6/21...this part went over the fence before defeat...lol
Hi babe! (((xxx))) How was the footie?? : )
mac - you wanting de or do?
Hi Anj -- is that for the same ca 7 that hurshy gave? BTW -- see that you're in the grid today!
No, not the money one, rather, the one that means specific
Hi Lo ((xx)) cr*p game, Utd won it with a 90th min header. 5 secs of excitement and only one of 3 chances on target from either side all match
mac the other one is a homonym of the kind of fuel that big-rigs use.
Got it Anj -- thank you!
how u doing sha?
Anyone else having a problem with tiles disappearing from the grid?
Cyber, I don't think so...
Oh dear! Is your dad still sulking then? lol! Hey, I'm in the grid too! : D
Thank you so much Hurshy, I got it :)
cyber, I had that problem a few days ago. Just refresh : )
Tried refreshing, guess the next is reloading.
ouwa - if u r still here - the li5/1 and downward please?
*#%#**% As } ( I'm banning them from language usage. From now on, they're a symbol for grading use only. Call me Ynj *fumes*
well Ynj...it only gets worse...i've said that about nearly every letter so far. : D
Yay! I'm done! : )
why on earth did I just start this? Must be particularly masochistic today!
wtg lola! i got 28 left.
congrats, Lola! : ) hey all ! : )
while we're at it, can we ban o's as well? Evenin' all!
wtg babe : ) 143 to go here...
Good job, Lola! :)
ca 6 & 7 combo, following brief_____s?
Hi atalante, babbler, dachef : )
Hi everyone -- just wanted you to know that I have posted a parody/tribute song in the Parody thread :) Hope everyone likes it!
yay lola! *hands lola a choc chip brownie* hey babs, dachef!
I vote we ask Dr G to install a *PASS* button so you can reset the grid if you find yourself sufffering literary euthanasia : / Hi Babs, Dachef : )
cnan, take a place where you gamble and change the last two letters to the beginning of what you pave roads with
i feel the same should never start new games can't leave em alone lol, this is right bugging me now
cyber, ca plus opp of stand up plus first vowel : )

LOL! Thanks babbler! Do you say that out here? : )
Thanks, Lola -- should get the fish on that one!
Temple -- I have a couple of ideas, but the one I started with is: Babble, Babble, Little Grid -- cos I have to sing the original every night -- AND I have to learn all the verses!!
Hi GW! : )
it gets easier with practice, michaela - some of the same weird words come up a lot and you learn to recognize them
Hi lola! (*hug*)

hey t-owl...lunch break or no school today???
temple, take the diet one and change the last letter for a consonant and then for the last vowel : )
i give i think lol
hi ren
hey hurshy hows our spelling champ today???
temple, for the li5/10, take the diet one again, change the vowel for the first one and add the plural letter : )
btw, since I have been working out the song this morning, I have been working out the meter out loud -- so Kristianna is now singing - "Babble, babble, little grid, how I wonder what you are!"
Hi Ren : ) I have 6 As in the middle so in the spirit of humanity have decided to commute their sentence to cool names and slang only } )
hey Ynj....
ren - NO! my eyes were glazing over by 3PM! how are u ?

What's wrong with enote? -- I send them all the time!
...and osteo : / I've got a bone to pick about that...
*runs from room, shreiking*
heh, good one, Anj : )
...dumb thing is, it allows os4/4 (as in 10 commandements without the M) which is a suffix, so what gives with the prefix? : / *sighs*
no rhyme or reason, Anj!
de 6/21? (don't have either)
cybewr: thanks to ouwachita - "de part dat goes over de fence last" bye now for real!
cyber, the devil is the de.... : )

had it in the wrong spot, that is!
That devil clue went right over my head (which appears to be a little thick today)
de6/21 - homonym for type of fuel
cybernan Hurshy gave me a great clue for the other de6. It's: a homonym of the kind of fuel that big-rigs use.
cyber, I meant de plus the bit that wags : ) Babbler, you're not joking about that word are you... : / That's way beyond random noodling.

I find the prefix type words the hardest to locate
I have that os 5 -- it is the other that I'm looking for.
The ou's were especially painful
cybernan, the 2 os 5's are very similar. Change the middle letter.
i thought you were off to watch snooker !!

I did think that Blade 2 was at least as good as Blade 1 if you saw that one
Babbler, once you've seen one fast-decomposing ex-vampire, you've seen them all in the film. It's not that bad : )
I am reading a very good book. Mad River Road by Joy Fielding. I love her books. Has anyone else read any of her novels?

never seen The Exorcist. Don't want to either. seen plenty of clips though. : )
ok, done at last! Thx for all the clues! I keep putting the plurals in and then forgetting the singular. Doh! Does anyone notice that when reconcile with the second letter list, quite often there can only be one possible combination of letters that fits that gap, and you can swear blind you've tried that before? And then when you enter it again it works? I think the computers trying to wind me up.
No worries Bear, it was probably just a circular : ) Hey, will you be up the Coach next Sunday??

WOW!! I wasn't looking, but I'll look when he's back, Yoink : )
ukfizz Its nice to have the stats to refer to so I thought it was worth upgrading
ukfizz- its cool. You get a pretty nifty stats panel that tells you how many words of each letter you have left to find. Also, you can download an icon and use it - can be fun. And, after all, its only a few quid/bucks.
Yoink, is it the bald one with the funny mouth?
me 2 ukfizz...
ukfizz -- definitely! -- the stats board is of tremendous help when you are trying to figure out which word(s) you have missed (beginning letter). Also if you enjoy the game, I think it is important to support it financially.

I can't remember the last time a film scared me, I'm thoroughly desensitized by now
Yoink, I've made a point of avoiding scary movies, just so I dont' get desensitised. My Mum warned me when I was a kid and I listened to her. : )
Yoink I'm desensitised to violence and wonder if I should be...I worry about kids watching this stuff
a likely story, babbler!
Thanks all - my eyes are getting blurred!
oh I adore the fight scenes!!! so well choreographed!! but I wish I'd learnt a martial art, that's why. :)
Leslie.....errr.....true actually!
have you seen Crouching tiger, hidden dragon Babs? That has some amazingly choreographed fight scenes
spellit I hear ya on that! When I got to the mi's and saw the looong list I thought, okay break time! Go clean your house...
beautiful film, Yoink :D
Yoink, I saw that...I was disappointed at times when people started flying around and I could easily see the wires here and there holding them up but it was a good story
any help with1st de6/21
was The Matrix made before the Bourne Identity? They both have brilliant fight scenes.
peri- homonym for a type of fuel
peri 1st de6/21 its in the de*****, plural of ta4/4
Babs, I'm pretty sure the same choreographer was used for The Matrix and Crouching tiger...
Guys if you want to see agood but not mainstream film...Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress....fab but of course the book is always better....definatelt a fab lil film
Yes the Matrix was first I enjoyed both films very much
Anyone see Light the Red Latern? Very interesting film
haven't seen either film, Missy, Tbear. I'll look out for them. :)
MissyMe, already have de6/21 that is singular, can't make it plural. must need the last det/21 then
sorry for asking for so many clues, but does anyone have the ca 6 and 7 between the military people (have the plural) and the brief****?
meant last de6/21
peri det/21 the clue I gave you was for the last de/21 here's the one for the first de + vowel + like the ledge on a window + drop one "L"
peri...it doesnt have a plural this time around just de + first ta4/4
ca 6/24 & 7 (plural): think of a half slip (top half), drop the last three letters and put the e back on.
LeslieAnn, ca + one of your m4/5s, and plural
peri: de part that goes over de fence last.
MIssyMe, can' t figure out the clue for the first de6/21. will take a break, may be back later, thanks for your help
Leslie ca 6 and 7 between the military people (have the plural) and the brief**** this is a leather tunic, ca + first mi4/5
peri okay when you come back if Im here Ill just give you the definition...probably easier
Peri - first de6/21: anagram of a type of fuel for cars
Scratch that --- NOT and anagram, but a HOMONYM
Hi all...long time no babble!
le sigh. didn't have that 4 either, have it now. thanks again folks. nan, yoink, you guys gonna have a pluto fight?

Geez, I just realized I'm still wearing my Christmas hat!! Shows how long it's been...just a minute...

Ok, that's better!
bye cybernan
bye cybernan cya later :)
All finished! I will continue to tell myself that I won't take on ones that big, but I keep failing
hooray yoink!
congrats yoink!!!
peri first de6/21 in a clockwise direction, or widdershins google that definition and it will come up
Good work, Yoink! :)
gotta go fold some more clothes...
bye missy
Gotta go too, see you tomorrow
bye yoink
finished at last.
yay doxy!
thanks. see everyone tomorrow.
se8/45?
past tense of se 7- one of the 5 se****, use the first four letters of that, and then the past tense of eat
hi again, everyone!
it's pretty quiet in here, owl
Oy!
wooby u here
Hello!
Thanks, Pida 1 See ya later
Hi everyone. Well, it's clear to me that I"m not going to finish this one. Still need 97 more and I'm just not going to stay up that much longer. But I figure I should at least try to get all the biggies. I'm still missing half of the 8's. I have: ca8/50 de8/45 mo8/45 se8 /45 st8/55 un8/50 Thanks!!!!
ok, owl, apparently i lied :)
de 8/45 take the s off your 9
Lots of us lurkers working away silently, LeslieAnn(-:
se 8 i gave a clue at 6:25
Thanks LeslieAnn, but that's one of the one's I have already.
mo 8 plural of mo 7 - to make something slightly wet
The list I gave is the ones I have. It's the rest that I'm missing.
which one? there's only 1 de 8/45, se 8/45
oh crap! perhaps i should read ALL the post. oh well, hope i helped somebody else. :)
Eva...ca8/45 musical instrument (small hand held) used by Spanish dancers
ca 8 - if you break your leg you would have a ca** + a vowel + what you use to catch butterflies
mi 8/55 - past tense of 6, to do a play wrong
SE 6/18 anyone?
No problem....so about those others 8's (:
mi 7 - to callibrate a piano wrong, plural for 8
Leslie you helped me on the se and i thank you
oh and if you take the mi 8/55 and change the first three letters to the opposite of safe in baseball, you'll get another
jeez you you know I kept trying the instrument before, wishing it would be a word, and kept spelling it wrong! Thanks.
se + st 4/4
ty!
Thankyou muchly to all of you! Now I HAVE: ca8/50 ca8/45 de8/45 mi8 /55 mi8/50 mo8/45 ou8/55 se8 /45 st8/55 un8/50 What's left please?
1st mi6/24 clue please? i am desparate : )
Owl, I sprayed my plants with water; I mi**** them.
owl- I had 10 tamales and chocolate cake - I mi____
owl-or, the prefix for an error and the past tense of consuming
can someone give me clues for the ta7/32 and the se6/18 straight after the se8/45? please???
ta 7/32 - plural of ta 5/12
se 6/18 i gave a clue at 6:41
an 7 - an + first vowel + a brief****, change first letter from c to t. plural for 8.
thanks LeslieAnn! and **done** woohoo!
*sigh* if only i had ta5/12...guys - the site is acting up horribly for me...i'm not ignoring you...my dialup cannot handle the long list and all of the pretty icons...
ta 5 - ta + not mrs. but ****, drop last s
congrats atalante!
Thanks leslieann! Now I have the an8. I'm still missing one. Do you know which it is?
temple, you can hide the icons, that'll probably help
um three mi 8's, you have 2, right?
Yup, you're right. I have the piano one and the theatre one. Can I have a little clue for the third one pretty please?
i don't know how to do that - unless you mean hide the log...
sa 6/21 & 7/32?
i keep trying to print the grid to work offline, but everytime someone talks, the page refreshed and won't print!
harp - ends with a little bothersome insect-and then the plural
um, eva? Could you tell me a little more about the bothersome insect?
may I have clues or defs for the mi6/24 and mi8/55, + first mi7/36
vega____ That "might"help you.
thank you from the bottom of my heart....
You're very welcome! Nice to be able to return some of the help. Peri-mi8/55- just passing alone what LeslieAnn gave me-the actress said her lines wrong - she mi______.
Eva, know what you clue means but still can't figure out how to make the words I need
i'm begging you all...i know this is awfully cheeky but any way you might be able to suspend chat for a fe wminutes so i can hide you all? I love you but every time someone speaks the page refreshes and i lose access to the hide log option....
Have to go load the stoves and feed the cat. I know this sounds like a broken record - but it's the way every day begins and ends. At least in the winter (the stoves-the cat eats all seasons)
that mi8/55 is a really stupid word
Peri, the mi8/55 is similar to the ou8/55. Thanks Eva.
brandyjack, found the mi8, just think its a dumb word 8)
ditto for the o8/55
thank you!
TO: Another suggestion is to click on the 'Refresh every' and change it to 'never'. Then the chat log shouldn't cause you problems.
How do you get the plural of us5/12 for the us6?
i hid the icons and now the grid has no letter! *groans*
Evening, all... getting a late start today...
welcome to the fray, jera!
Oh dear... it always seems to be a fray when I get a late start...
oh good grief. The football game must have me rattled.
Jera, this puzzle is a little nu 5/16, if you know what I mean!
Ah... that I can handle, LOL
I think i will happy to find half in the amount of time I have...
Just saw a segment on "60 Minutes" tonight where people actually get paid big money to play video games. They have tournaments and everything. The games are action type ones though and not word games. Wouldn't a Babble Tournament be fun though?
Maybe someday, periwinkle... I dream of a big US meetup asap...
Where are you Jera, I am in PA
So, was there a football game today? (hee hee hee!)
I'm in VA, about 20 miles from DC... I'm thinking a DC convention would be awesome!
Jera, that might be doable
I'd be thrilled to make the arrangements, if there's enough interest...
well, there's still a footgame going on, but IMHO, it's not going very well.
I'm no where near tournament material....when I look at the ratings lists and see the dozens of people who quietly and steadily get all the words every day - and then people on the list who zoom through. I plod and plod. And have decided to only do what I can in a relaxed fashion. And a lot of what I find so unusual and wonderful about this way of playing is the cooperative nature. How did that ever come about? Does anyone know? Was it intended from the beginning?
Jera, I am interested and marigold, my sister might be too. I know there are other Babblers in PA and NY and I think NJ.
I have all the n's except for one ne 4. Can't for the life of me figure it. Is one of them an odd word, or are all the ne 4 common?
Dont'forget gramma and me in Vermont!
eva, no, it was much more "hardnosed" at the beginning
Awesome, peri... I'll start making a list & checking out some places... maybe a cyber cafe we can rent out & take over...
Mebbe it's the Loch Ne** that you're missing?
So how did this evolve?
brb... gotta go tuck in the littlies...
the kinder, gentler Babble started when there was a huge influx of new players that followed some publicity in a couple of publications
clues or definitions for 2nd mi6/21 and the mi8/45 right after it. Also first mi7/36.
honestly gwenski! I have missed that word SO many times. I think I need a trip to Scotland to orient myself! Thank you!
Perhaps you can help with the ou7/36?
I would imagine that there must be some people who miss the original "purity" and prefer to play on their own. But as one of the relative newbies, I appreciate this spirit very, very much, and am grateful to you old timers who had the generosity and interest to hang around and help.
holy mo 4/7! That really is a word!
2nd mi6/21: Gobbled the wrong food?
personally speaking, at the beginning, when it was more intense, I found it pretty intimidating!
holy mo 4/7 -- my dad always said that when i was a kid, thought he made it up!!
gwenski-your query led me to the ou7/36. If your boat is faster than mine then you would ou_____me.
thanks gwenski, these mi words are kinda dumb
clue or def for ou7/36
unea-there are clearly people playing who are in a very different league from me and it's nice to have room for all of us. If I had tried this without the chat log I probably would have given up and gone away.
Eva, I think I have that has ou7/32, if it's a wind-powered boat.
peri-I just answered gwenski re the ou7/36.
Yeah, I agree. Those mi words are bizarre. Could make an alka seltzer commercial out of them!
OOOPs-sorry-need to read more carefully, yes, that wind powered boat is a 32, not a 36. Have to go hunting now.
Eva, I thought that was for the ou7/32
The ou words are pretty dumb too
I'm also missing one of the ou5/14. (Have past tense of 'not in')
clue for the last ou7/32
ou7/32 is past tense of ou6/21.
okay-this time I found the ou7/36. Very common. If your steak isn't rare or medium in is well ____. Put the usual ou_ prefix on it et voila!~
thanks Eva
de nada peri
en 6/21 -- is there a clue floating around
aknitter, en6/21 - en+ what leaves your body when you die
knitter-en+ what some believe we have in the afterlilfe. Sounds like a kind of fish filet
Thanks, Eva. That also helped with my missing ou5. Now all I need is 19 s's. (Plus lots of help for the Panthers! :-))
i liked that en fish filet clue, made me laugh. ty both, never would have found it on my own
aknitter, no problem
Well guys, 72 left to find and I think it's time to throw in the towel, or the fish filet, or the wind powered boat, or the thing that lurks in the loch. See you all tomorrow and good luck to those of you with the will and energy to go for the last drop.
clues for the last do5/12 and do6/21 please
See ya Eva
marigold, are you playing?
don't know which the last ones are Peri, as I don't have them all, but do you have the person who give money and the plural? Now I'm really going.
double the vowel on the end of do4. Then plural.
gwenski and Eva, just found them right before I saw your posts, thanks
Can't find the last sa5/10.
the last sa 5/10--fills up. works off the previous word. pluralize the 4/4
Thanks. It helps to start from the proper s!
time for supper and shower. when I return I shall tackle A through L. I have 85 left. Possible, I think!
clue for last ou7/32 please
nevermind, found it
Hey everyone! Have been out all day, so haven't even looked at the puzzle... now that my son is asleep and I have the place to myself, should I attempt this behemouth?
Hi, Jen, not a bad puzzle, but has some stupid words in it. HOw much time do you have. I have been playing off and on all day and am up to 253, don't think I will attempt to finish though.
Pretty much not tired, so I could stay up till the puzzle closes. I dunno...
What the hell, give it a shot
Wheww. I just finished. My last words were from Fiddler on the Roof... Su*rise, Su6/21.
Congrats to you gwenski!!!
kudos, gwenski!!
I might stick around a little bit while monitoring the sad Panther game, if I can help at all.
a first mi 6/24 clue would be greatfully accepted
first mi6/24: sounds like cell division to me. Or, plop a vowel in the midst of the guy with the ten commandments.
ty gwenski
mi 6/24 = mi + squiggly consonent +r what performers do in a play
ak - excuse the typo - there is no r
yes there is no r, thought i haed a different puzzle for a moment lol
And I am off and running! LOL
i'm working one handed today and it's very difficult...8)
OOH! The Panthers Offense just scored! Now they're only down 34-14. Think I'll go watch the last five minutes. Good nite, all.
nite gwen....8)
hey all, I'm back... hubby roped me into watching West Wing after we got the littlies tucked in...
Evening Jera!
hey jera hey jen
Hey renfield! :)
*wonders if she should start at the top or the bottom today*
I started at the bottom about 5 minutes ago. ;)
starting at the bottom is easier for these large puzzles! imho
Alrighty then... u's it is (already found the y)...
I always have probs with un's, but these were pretty easy!
ly 6 & 7?
ly 6 and 7 are made from the ly 4 the act of causing the cell death
ly + sa 4/4 then plural
thank you ak!
Anyone have the second li 6/18 & 7/28 combination? I have the first one (means 'hear and obey')
sorry harp, not yet
harp - a person who is li 6/21 is a li6/18 (double vowel ending)
any star trek fans out there? i have the genesis planet exploding for my icon...
hurshy to the rescue! (We sunspots have to stick together!)
you see the little klingon bird of prey escaping?
I do now! so maybe yours isn't a sunspot?
oh, sorry harp, not a sun, just an experiment in rapid terraforming gone horribly wrong due to the use of protomatter
young david inherited his father's daredeviltry without his good luck.
isn't tomorrow harp day, harp?
Ah, poor young david! en 5/10?
add past tense of eat. and i have to go.
You have done well in your brief appearance, o hurshy. Bring a harp tomorrow!
Good lord, look at the c's! 22 ca words?
Gotta go watch Gray's Anatomy with hubby (gods, we're boring)... hopefully back later for last 89 (LOL)
Bye Jera! I'm catching up on recorded shows right now. :)
Finished!!! all 302 words
Whoot! WTG angelsong! :)
OK, so I have 200 words for 3000 points.I could spend the next hour and 45 minutes or so trying for the remaining 102 words....or, I could stop now with a more eye-pleasing total. I think I'll call it a night. Sometimes we go for the gusto, sometimes we go for the artistry.
Huzzah lawyer! I am still up, so I figure I might as well keep plugging along.
ah, lawyer-1, quelle panache!
Well, Jen, us Terp fans value our rest more than our score.
Aw snap! An FSU crack comin' outta nowhere! :)
Jen....at least I din't say, "Go Penn State"!
Ahhhh, but who's ACC champ this year?
Terps won in soccer!
And that's totally the national sport, other than baseball... oh wait, we always win the baseball ACC crown too. oops. :)
Would you prefer that I point to UMBC, the chess champs of the country?
#3 party school in the nation!!! woo hoo!
Well, Jen, if the truth be known, I never went to an ACC school <sigh>!
You have my curiosity up, where'd you go?
I went to a school with no athletics. My son was almost a Jefferson Scholar at UVA, but he wanted an academic challenge.
Come to think of it, my son is your age.
I've never been impressed with UVA, to be honest. Where'd he end up going? Now, I'm not saying that FSU was a huge mind bend, but I grew up in Tallahassee and my Dad teaches there, so it was pretty much a given where I'd go. Did get a BA and MEd out of there tho...
I taught at Florida Institute of Technology....Business Law and Business Ethics. Boy, there's a pair! And a lawyer teaching ethics? He went to Rhodes College and then to American U. for law school.
Hi Everyone!! The Seahawks made it to the SuperBowl ~ Yipee!!! After 30 years we deserve it!!
this grid almost did me in a couple of times.
I've heard of a few lawyers with ethics, lol! Is your son up here still?
Congratulations JoJo -- I know how much you wanted your team to win!!! Wonderful news!!!!
My son is in CA. Like me, he never practiced law. He's in marketing.
I don't follow fb but Seattle is the closest city with a team. So GO SEAHAWKS! (um, it IS football, right?)
Oh! I can understand, though. I taught for a few years and now that I am going back to work (stay at home mom now), I am going to be doing the furthest thing from teaching... government work!
Mab & Harp: Thx so much, and yes Harp it is football.
Whose government?
Don't worry... ours.
Maybe that's why I should worry!
Tee hee! Eh, been close enough to it for 11 years... wife of a former NAvy officer, figure I might as well actively participate rather than be on the sidelines. Besides, my BA is in PoliSci
Sorry, Jen, I just love to prod and poke. Don Rickles was my hero!
I don't mind... nothing to hide and after the weekend I've had, nothing can rile me now.
Please do not get me started about this weekend. My spouse and I are the designated eldercare people in the family. We went from nassisted living facility to nursing home to emergency ward of the hospital.
And, if that's not bad enough, we are the sandwich generation. It's the 2nd marriage for both of us. Between us, there are 7 children and 8 grandchildren.
Yikes! So sorry to hear that. I hope everything works out okay. Hubby's gone on business, I got stomach flu, the cat got sick, and my car got broken into in my driveway and my $1000 GPS was stolen. (not that I am competing, just letting you know why my weekend has been bad)
That sounds like a vacation for me!
been there, lawyer. Not the sandwich part, but I can tell you it's a wild ride when you're the caregiver for your parents.....blessings on your head, your hands, and your heart!
I am praying for you! While I have not experienced anything like that with my parents, I know what my Mom went through with my grandmother when she ill, since Mom was an only child.
hi - back to try to finish - i am missing an sa4 word and at this point not sure which one...shall i list what i have?
Hey 72TO! I have given up any semblance of order to my list since I only started about 2 hours ago, so I'm not sure I could help. ;)
Parents? We are dealing with aunts as well? None of our siblings or cousins will step up and carry their share, so it falls on us.
i'll list and see - maybe someone will help...how's the kitty?
Doin' great, thanks for asking! And I take the car in tomorrow for all the damages... should be fixed by Thursday.
Soory, I did not mean to cast a pall over the group. Besides, somewhere in this world it must be past my bed time. TTFN
ok for sa4's i have: not happy + vowel type of boat tha's wind driven not crazy to fill or satisfy sat + not you but *
Bye lawyer! {{{{{{hugs}}}}}} Try to have a good week! :)
TO, very first sa4... like the Marquis de sa..
TO, I think you have them all. There are 5 sa4 words, right? Lawyer, sleep well!
thanks jen ...that's "not happy + vowel..."
Oops, sorry TO... maybe I need to get to bed as well!
you are right, jane...it's the very last word i'm missing, the sa5/10 (doh!)
to, try making the last sa 4 plural?
btw- TEMPLE USED A WORD, TEMPLE USED A WOOOORD!
doesn't work : ( ...maybe it's time to call it quits...
Poop! It's a word I already had! :(
Okay, I'm spent! Didn't come close to finishing. G'night all! Sweet dreams!
every body sing... "I CAN'T GET NO, SA5/10- FACTION....."
: )
jen - want some clues?
ok ok ! : )...now i am missing ONE WORD with no idea which!
You are so sweet, but I gotta get some shut-eye... gotta be at the body shop at 7 tomorrow (or is it today?)
night, jen...i'll probably stillbe here counting words!
TO are you still missing an sa word?
I DID IT!!!!! *jumps up and down in dance of happiness*
hi all. just stopping by to see if anyone knows what the theme is for tomorrow?
harps
thanks une. Nite everyone.
YAY~!!~!! TO DID IT!
nite, doxy...une and harp are you guys still solving?
yep-- 8 words to go . . .
No, I'm done now. I'm going to change into something harp-like and hit the sack. Won't make it to the flip tonight.
need any clues before i go? past my bedtime!
de6/21 after the de4?
the first de 6/21--sounds like a type of fuel.
Hello! I'm back! ;D Happy New Year to everyone, by the way.
thanks, harpjane!
hey zubie!
Hi jane :D
zubie used a word, ZUBIE USED A WOOOOORD! (Happy New Year!)
mi6 after mi7/36?
I did? :D I was trying to AVOID using a word by using THAT version! Oh well! :D
wull now, gomer pyle and andy might ask a friend over for dinner, und the friend wud say 'wull ah bettah check with duh mi6 first'
mi6 after mi7/36, please?
did you get it, une?
nope
Morning dear gang - bit early for the new grid, so I thought to drop in and see if anyone needs some last minute clues ;)
mi 4/5 + first person pronoun
We could ask zubie that one: we missed you, zubie... did you Mi6?
good one sprite!
hah! thanks! :-)
first sa4/4 please?
What you need on a boat if you want to use the wind.
opposit of happy + opposite of you
sorry, wrong sa
i've got the part of the boat already
The next Sa4/4 is 'of healthy mind'.
i've got that one too
it's the second sa4
Then I don't know which one you need. Can you specify? :)
according to the stats there's an sa4 right after the sa4 who's a singer
You already did. But the 2nd Sa4 is the boat part. First one is the one harpjane gave a clue for. Second one is boat part.
i'm an idiot--thought i'd entered that HOURS ago--sorry for the confusion!!
LOL!
my last word: ta4/4 . . . and thanks so much for the help -- I'm just sooooo tiiiiiired . . .
never mind--that was ANOTHER one i thought i'd already entered--i'm done and going to bed!!!!
ta 4/4, one end of most animals. hint: not the head. Congratulations!
First Ta4/4 = what we would be wagging if we were dogs. Second Ta4/4: T + what that thing would be attached to.
ROFLOL!~ Sleep well... you really deserve it :D Congrats!
